I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

OS Version: 51.0.2704.79Wireless Info: WPA2, AES, PSK I have 30 of these Chromebooks that connect to a network provided by HP APs. They used to work fine, but now are causing speed issues. The network functions well for all of the Windows based PCs and laptops that we have, except when we turn on more than a few of these Chromebooks at once. Once we fire up more than, say, 5 or 6 Chromebooks, they severely bog our wireless in that area of the building. Ping times to the gateway go up to and over 8000ms. We turn off the Chromebooks and everything is fine. Has anyone else run into something like this?

Hi - I recently got the Lenovo M910q as a warranty replacement for my broken M900. I'm now looking for the 'Optional TypeC port with U3/DP' internal cable but not having any luck finding it - can you please help?It seems that I wouldn't be able to use both a 'Display Port to HDMI' internal cable [which I already have and works fine] at the same time as a 'Type-C port with U3/DP' internal cable, even though there are two connectors on the main board and two 'Punch Out' ports on the chassis - is this true; and if so, is this only because it can only support one additional display out. I don't see why that would be the case when it mentions on the product page that it can have two additional DP ports (see below). So why not both? So, okay, an optional update showed up this morning to remove some broken Lenovo software: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/3107998

But this machine I'm typing at is an ancient-ASUS-motherboard machine, not a Lenovo.

Now, in this house there IS a Lenovo laptop (that has yet to be updated, probably, since it's early morning and my daughter carried it into her room so I can't yet get to it...).

Did Microsoft distribute this "Lenovo Fix" optional update to regular nonLenovo PC users?

Or did Microsoft get their database(s) confused and think this aAm machine is a Lenovo machine?

My work laptop is a lenevo chromebook, very basic machine. However I keep experiencing a problem with the WIFI. It connects perfectly to some WIFIs but for my home WiFi it says : error ?bad password?. I have put the password in a million times and it still says the same thing. I?ve even reset it!

Hello, I have a Lenovo 11e chromebook.I am trying to figure out the Auto Update Expiration for it.  Normally, I can get this from https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/6220366?hl=enIf you look through there, you can see there are a few mentions of Lenovo 11e with different date based on it's generation.  How can I figure out its generation?Lenovo.com's warranty lookup says its model number is 20DU0003US and its warranty expired 2015-09-04.  I have not been able to use that infromation to look this up.  I have been looking at listings on Lenovo's site and Amazon for the various 11e's trying to compare them to what my model has: "Intel Celeron N2930 processor (1.83GHz)

Has any one out in ChromebookLand been able to use the acclaimed system to show picture full screen from sets of jpg files? Due to the puny memory capacity, and difficult to work with external SD card slot, I tried to connect a Sandisk Media drive. The Media drive connects very well, but the display operations of pictures is just not professional.  The keystrokes are quasi not functional or not present.  When giving the show, I need to waste time explaing the customer what to do, and the 'slides' are not full screen, but small.  The colors ARE GREAT, but that is about it. As an aisde, any one ever wonder why the letters are in lower case????  My 5 year old asked me.

Hi, I just purchased my Lenovo N22-20 Chromebook from Amazon. However, I am having problems getting into Recovery Mode using the instructions published here https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/1080595?hl=en-GB&source=genius-rts. When I press and hold esc + refresh, then press the power button (for about half a second)- it immediately shutsdown my chromebook, it doesn't go into recovery mode. I tried this sequence with the chromebook off and it does nothing. I tried the sequence before and after logging in too.  I also tried esc + refresh on it's own as some posts suggested just those two keys. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a different set of keystrokes that need to be used with a Lenovo N22-20? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Umm... Hello? Is this thing on? Okay, here it goes. I wanted to share my experiences so far with my new Lenovo C330 Chromebook. Let me start off first by saying, this is my first Chromebook. Previously, I had been using 64-bit Intel Core laptops that I ended up wiping Windows off of and installing some flavor of Linux or another. I am a one-click, out-of-the-box type of user, so distros such as Ubuntu and EndlessOS did me just right. As for the Lenovo Chromebook C330, I love it. Although the touch screen display isn't as sensitive as other touch screen displays I've used (it doesn't take too kindly to a capacitative stylus, the ones with the rubber nib, unless you press hard which means I guess I will just be using my finger after all *sigh*), and the SD card sticks way too far out of the slot, I can get used to these things.

I haven't used my chromebook for about 3 days. It was probably completely dead. I went to turn it on and the screen was white. I hit the power button and it shut off. When I tried to turn it back on, nothing. I plugged it in and the orange charging light came on. Still nothing. Let it charge overnight until the green fully charged light came on. Nothing. I've tried holding the refresh and power buttons as well as the esc, refresh, and power buttons. I've tried unplugging it and holding the power button down and then plugging it back in. Still nothing. There is no external battery. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hello,I tried to make my chromebook into a Linux machine - but I fear that will not happen. I went through the entire process of removing the keyboard etc, and finally moved the switch. However, upon pressing the power button......nothing. Nothing with just the battery, nothing with just AC power, nothing at all. Can anyone point me in the right direction? is there something I missed? Or is this perfectly good laptop just dead weight now?Thanks.

Hello,        I am a computer technician at Patterson Joint Unified, and we have some 3000+ chromebook devices deployed for our 1:web .   Recently students have been bring me devices that fail to boot, i can enter powerwash but after that completes it goes to a black screen, i have tried repairs via recovery usb but all it does is load no matter the length of time. im suspecting the ssd/ flash memory is bad on  these devices which is causing the no boot. is there anyway to test for sure, i have had about 8 of these within a short time period. any help is greatly apreciated thank you, and happy holidays

Just something that we as a schoolboard found out about these devices, is that they use a magnet to sense when the lid is closed.  This issue that this causes is that if you have the devices stacked on top of each other that the magnet from the device below will stop the top one from turning on.  Some of our techs had them stacked while they were trying to enroll a large number of devices.  This is just an FYI.

Noticed my laptop was running a bit slow tonight so did a Malwarebytes scan - it found the aforementioned threats.
 
I quarantined them after the first scan and rebooted, did a further scan and they're still there.
 
Any help on removing them would be much appreciated.
 
Have enclosed a Hijackthis log... do you need the DDS logs as per the thread at the top of this forum?

Yes, that's why it's there. HijackThis has not been seriously updated in some time and so is not considered worth the hard drive space, although I suppose that it acts as cheap advertising for Trend Micro.
 
Will you also let me have a copy of the detections that MBAM is finding. You can paste them into your next reply from the Logs Tab in MBAM.

  OK I am a moderate security guy trying to learn more from the REAL Security PROs. I was looking for server 2012 Installing and Configuring study material FOR FREE of course and got in a little to deep. I use Zone alarm firewall Free version and Malwarebytes religiously. As well as MSE as my regular day to day antivirus. Now normally I would not dig as deep as I did this time to get so ROOTKIT infected.
  Recently I ran GMER and found a lot of RED in the registry; Files and other important places so I figured I need to reimage my machine......! I also ran Kaspersky's TDSSKiller and it came back clean?? I will attach the Kaspersky log below... Now I also use CMS Product Ultimate BounceBack version 11.4.0.29, I believe so I can make all this go away with a backup reimage. But I am pursuing my Server 2012 MCSA and eventually want to become Security focused. So I have all the Rootkit tools and have played with them in the past but in my experience it has always been best to completely reinstall the OS version, Whatever the OS may be at the time, and move forward because otherwise you are never going to completely clean the machine. Not to mention, the time saved by doing this speaks for itself. All that being said I would still like to get a better understanding of this from a Security standpoint..... I have Lenovo n21 chromebook. But I don't have access to my touchpad settings after an upgrade it's OS. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem? I can't revert back to it's original OS. I know it is nothing to do with the touchpad at all. But there is no touchpad option from the settings. Does anyone have a driver for my chromebook touchpad? My daughter's Chromebook has a dark screen.  It's like the lamp has been disconnected.  The machine is booting.  We have tried holding the power and restart key, to do a reset.  Still dark. I have held the power key down for two minutes.  Still dark. I have tried hitting the alt + brighten and darken keys.  Nothing. Hopefully they will honor the warranty or Walmart will take it back.   We've had it for about a month and it is still in warranty, according to the website.

Been trying to eradicate PUP.Optional.Spigot virus. Now the Outbrowse has shown up.
Have tried to use Malawarebytes, Kaspersky Rootkit killer, AdWdleaner. Gets rid of it but shows up almost immediately.

this is a work computer, so I'll only be around 10a-5:30p EST.  "Computer guy" came about 6 weeks ago, ran Combofix, left.  After that, I  noticed that Conduit hijaked the browsers.  Uninstalled what toolbars I could find, changed settings in IE and Chrome, seemed to be gone. Still no symptoms.  Last week I saw the unsupported or unfound file image in the shortcuts next to the start menu, ran MBAM again, found this, deleted. ran other scans in safe mode w/networking, seemed clean.  Ran a scan just because today, no symptoms, 45 objects found.  Deleted again.  ran TDSS, found a partition. Don't know enough to comfortably delete.  Here's the DDS log.  I hope you can help quickly. My boss wants me to call the "computer guy" again, who I have no faith in, because every time we pay him to "fix it" I end up having to come here and get help because he doesn't actually fix anything, but still cashes the checks.
edit:1:46pm EST  Avira just popped up with detections of TR/Trash.Gen and TR/Drop.Softomat.AN in the System Volume Information folder, as both .exe and .dll under real time protection.

Hello,
I ran Malawarebyes and it said that some of my registry keys are infected. It quarantined them but I just want to make that there isn't another step I have to do to make sure its gone. Below is the log. Thanks!

Hi everyone, I registered here because im pretty helpless regarding my G50-70 laptop. My internet connection works and goes off 10-30minutes each time after i restart my laptop.I tried to reinstall drivers, check if there are any problems with my router or my provider, tried different wifis or connecting via an ethernet cable. Nothing helped.The connection bar in the bottom right corner shows full connection without any issues, however, a few minutes after restarting my laptop, the internet stops working.The only way I can go online, is to remove my wireless lan drivers, restart the computer and then work for several minutes.After that, it goes off again.I ran a quick scan through the cmd prompt and the laptop did not find any problems.I keep trying to find a solution, but nothing fixes it completely.I run a 64-bit Windows 10.Have you ever had a similar problem? Any help will be appreciated.Adam

Bought a brand new laptop last week, right out of the box wi fi is dropping signal, disconnecting from my home wi fi. Problem started while uploading initial windows updates. Doesn't happens always but from time to time, enough to be annoying. Have a dozen devices on my home network they all work fine except two Lenovo laptops that we have (I noticed that the same thing is happening on my nieces laptop). Sometimes restarting wireless adapter will help sometimes it won't. On Lenovo support site i found a page that accurately describes may problem they suggested 5-6 methods to solve it. I try them all it's not working for me.https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht502846I'm pretty sure that problem is either in some of the windows updates, or wireless adapter software. Just gave a lot of money for a brand new laptop, and i have to deal with this bull.... it's annoying

I am becoming increasingly frustrated with my Lenovo G505. It has failed to connect to wireless since I purchased it. When in warranty it was sent away on a couple of occasions for 'repair'. However it continues to show connected, but then drops to limited every minute or so. Its been locked away for the last few months due the above frustrations, but wanting to work from home I thought I'd give it one more try. I have browsed a number of topics,but have not had much success. Is anyone able to point me in the direction of a possible known fix? Hoping Lenovo can restore my faith.

Hi, I bought a lenovo ideapad 710S Plus and I keep getting the 'DNS PROBE FINISHED NO INTERNET' error in Google Chrome and the internet does not work in other browsers. I seriously can't figure out the problem! I have reset the laptop/clean wipe and the error still occurs. This is my second replacement and the error is still occurring!! I have installed the latest drivers and the error still occurs. I have also tried manually setting Google/OpenDNS or even my own ISP's DNS but same error occurs. Is it a laptop/hardware problem or is it a software/windows 10 update problem? My brother has a normal ideapad 710 on windows 10 and he does not get this error. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions- thanks! Mod's Edit: System model added to the front of Subject line to improve visibility / clarity.
