[ASUS X751S] Aptio Setup Utility boot loop

Q: [ASUS X751S] Aptio Setup Utility boot loop

Hello,

was long time member unfortunately it seems that my account got wiped? Or im assuming you guys have some cap on non-active accounts.

Non the less, im here about my x751s. Today i turned it on and it made 5 rapid sequential beeps and goes straight to the BIO's menu.
Ive tried launch csm route, but that gives me the " No bootable driver" error, On startup ive tried esc, f1, f8, f9, f10, f11, f12 none of them work.

I opened my laptop and looked around, safely unclipped the mother board connections and nothing looks out of place i unscrewed the HDD it looks good none of the small slits are moved and the pins are also fine.

Any ideas?

Thank you,
David

Greetings forums!

Firstly, thanks for taking the time to read this post. I've done my best to google, try everything I possibly could imagine and still things aren't going my way - you're my biggest hope!
Background information & my probable earlier mistakes
The computer in question is an ASUS K55D that, used to, run Windows 8.1. Since this OS did not cooperate with our home network I decided it was a good idea to install Windows 7.

Long story short it doesn't boot via USB or DVD so I try to do it from inside W8.1 (under the presumption that it'd install it on the same disk and do the "Windows Old Folder" thing) - works fine until the reboot when it forgets about the installation, then goes into a weird boot loop that finally ended up in continuing to install W7.
I let it finish and, lo and behold, the computer crashes and boots into chkdsk (or some similar utility) claiming there's loads of issues. Que a long time of non-sensical information (did not look like any tool I've ever used before) and a lot of error messages (this is in post, by the way) that lasted for a few hours. So I decide to reboot again.

Suddenly the laptop decides it DOES want to boot into the DVD, since it can't get into W8.1 anymore. I try to install but when I try to select my newly formatted HDD it gives me "cannot install to partition of the GPT format".

So I press "delete" in the hopes of my computer understanding that ... Read more

Hi
I bought a new laptop (Asus x75a) and when I received it I turned it on and it went into the aptio setup utility so I set the time and date and went over to save and exit only to return to the same screen. I've restored defaults and loading optimised settings but it always returns to it.
I disabled secure boot and enabled csm and this time it loaded the asus screen and went to a black screen saying reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device.
It should be preinstalled with win8 and no where in the user manuals does it detail the setup utility.
I've searched the web for a solution but I'm yet to find one. I've contacted the seller but I thought whilst I wait I would seek help here.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated

I have an Asus laptop and I got the notification that I can upgrade to Windows 10 if I wanted to. So, I clicked to update it and it did and when I restarted it, my mouse pad would not work. I was able to go into programs and click repair for the mouse and then it worked. I used my laptop for a few minutes and everything was fine and then I closed it and set it aside. Later that day, I opened it and I clicked on Chrome and I got the hour glass. I waited for a few minutes and nothing happened. So, I pressed and held the power button down to turn it off and turned it back on a few seconds later.
When I turned it back on I was at the Aptio Setup Utility screen and no matter what I pushed, I couldn't exit. My battery died and so I plugged it in and turned it back on. This time it said that it was being diagnosed. After a long while, it said they couldn't fix it and gave me the option of restarting it or advanced options. I clicked advanced options and chose to go back to Windows 8.1 hoping that it would return to normal. After that, I assumed it was doing that and I left it to make lunch for my son. When I came back to it and it had been awhile it was just a blue screen and was like that for a long time, so I again shut it down.

I went online and did a search and someone said to enable the launch CSM on the boot section and to disable the secure boot menu and then to restart and I would be able to get to the advanced options/recovery screen. So, I did do that and was ab... Read more

Hello. Please forgive me for this off-topic-post, but i would like to tell everybody, why i really like APTIO Setup Utility, the best BIOS-Settings.

The great advantage is not only the great user interface and the accurate help descriptions (that Ins?deH20 also has), but what i really love is:
The APTIO Setup-Utility does have ?Boot-Override? in the Exit-Tab‼
I don't have to press F12 to override. I can simply go to the BIOS-Settings. And if i am inside of the BIOS-Settings, i can simply override without exiting the settings and press F12. That's Aptio's greatest advantage. My Samsung 700G7A-S02 does also have APTIO.
Aptio Setup Utility Screenshot:

Other Setup Utilities:

Disadvantage: If Windows is hibernated, DualBoot (e.g. Hiren's Boot CD) is not supported, which did already cause a problem. But other BIOS-Firmwares do also not allow DualBoot with hibernation.

Please note, that this is no sneaky advertisement. This is just my opinion. The screenshots are not from my Computer.

I've did everything I could and nothing is working. I tried the Boot, Launch CSM changed disable to enable, Security, Secure Boot Control changed enabled to disabled and F10 to save and exit. It took me to a screen saying "Reboot and Select proper boot device or insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key" I don't know what that means. Can someone please help?

You might have knocked loose the cables for the hard drive. It is saying it has nothing to boot from and since you were messing around inside it sounds like you may have knocked something loose.

Hi everybody, I have a small big problem: my laptop asus is blocked on aptio setup utility in the sense that every time I start it it redirects me to this menu. Why it's urgent: it's because I do not have access to my 2 OS window10 / ubuntu that contain important files for my studies that are happening right now. So, it is of paramount importance that I can solve this problem.

Then I tried some stuff for sure. In fact, there is a lot of result on google on this problem, but it's still the same solution: disabled fast boot, enabled launch CSM and do F10 or F9 at startup (I even tested F4, F5, F6, F8) and nothing works. If you do little research you will come across a solution has kind 10 steps of microsoft, bah the one does not work.

Then I tried to boot the Ubuntu installer on my USB key, but I can only test ubuntu without installing or installing it, but I want to access my old data. I then did the same for Window with the Window installer that offers troubleshooting. I tried the restore options but it asks me to select a system at startup but that's exactly what I do not have access to. Then boot diagnostic tool, good jme recalls more of all the options, but roughly there's nothing that works.

Finally I have to type on the console: bootrec / RebuildRbc and it says that it detects no installation windows, suddenly, it is a trick with the hard disk literally.

How I had this problem: I switched off my computer under ubuntu.

Last night I woke up to find that my computer had on its display the aptio setup utility. I had never seen this before and turned off my computer. I restarted it in safe mode and after about 5 min or so my computer went to the blue screen of death for like a second then to the aptio setup utility. Now, before this happened I had been downloading files from utorrent for like 3 days straight as well as watching some on my computer (which is an Asus G55vw), so I'm not sure if this is maybe a virus of some sort? This started last night, I was playing a game on steam when my computer froze. It then went to a blue stop screen and said it needed to reboot. Hi.

I have an Asus laptop, model X551C. My laptop was working fine until recently when i switched it on and it asked for a password in a strange screen. (See screen shot below)
When i entered my normal password it took me to this screen.
If i press any button it just repeats the message and does nothing. When i first noticed the strange password screen it took me here.

To the aptio setup utility screen. I looked online and read that my boot up order may be wrong so I tried to resolve it by going to the boot menu section of aptio this is what I see.

It doesn't appear that my hard drive is listed (I may be wrong) I have tried everthing to get it to start Windows with no luck.

I may have some of the other menus configured wrong not sure.

Does anyone know what may have caused this and how I may fix this frustrating issue ?

Thanks

Some how there must be a change in your bios. Aptic Setup is the name AMI uses for the setup program built into your bios.

You will need find the proper key to press when starting your Acer to enter the bios. Maybe something has been changed but the change was never saved.

You might choose Save changes and reset, Discard Changes & exit, or Restore Defaults.

Hi there,

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop running Win XP Home Edition SP2. Few days ago when I tried to run my laptop I suddenly out of nowhere got the error message "no boot device available strike f1 to retry boot f2 for setup utility". I believe my hard drive has died. I did some research online and have read several articles about this problem. At this stage I am only concered about recovering data from my hard drive. My hard drive is 100Gb with 2 partitions 50Gb each. Most of my data is on the 2nd partion. Reading few articles online, I have tried to run the recovery disk which came along with my laptop. While trying to use the repair option, it says that the disk is unpartioned and gives an option to format and create partion. I do not want to do this yet as all my data will be lost. I have also tried to fixbr and fixmbr, but I am still not able to boot my laptop.

I have now acquired 2.5" HDD USB Enclosure or caddy and 2.5" to 3.5" converter adapter. I tried to connect my Hard drive to the caddy and connected it to my PC. My PC is able to detect the hard drive but does not show any drive icon in "My Computer". In Disk Management hard drive is showing unallocated. I borrowed another hard drive (20Gb) from a friend and connected it to my PC via caddy and same thing happens, this hard drive also appears as unallocated.

I read the following article (see link below), now this could be because of the partition type FAT32 or NTFS. I am ... Read more

I own a Dell Dimension 3000 with Windows XP. A month ago I got the BSOD with the 000000024 error. Since I wanted to upgrade the 40 GB hard drive anyway I purchased a Western Digital 80 GB hard drive. I installed the HD and the computer beeped two times and took me to the "strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility" screen. If I hit F1 it just repeats the same command. If I hit F2 it takes me to the BIOS screen. When I go into drive configuration it shows that the primary master drive is the hard drive and the secondary drive is the cd rom device. the diskette drive A is off since my computer does not have a floppy disk drive. When I try to save changes and exit it beeps twice and takes me back the F1, F2 screen again. I have tried resetting the computer by pulling the battery out for 10 minutes and replacing but nothing has changed. Any ideas?

A:I can't get past the F1 to retry boot, F2 setup utility

Is the date right? Is the battery good?

Is the drive set to autodetect in BIOS and/or does BIOS recognize all the correct drive parameters?

What is on the new drive? Did you install an operating system? If it is blank, nothing will boot up.

How to enable hardware virtualization in Aptio Setup Utility?
I am not able to enable it in BIOS.
I want this because while installing Androin 4.4 in Virtualbox it is giving some error.

I have also uploaded Speccy CPU configuration which states that virtulization is supported and few pics of my BIOS.
Thanks.

A:How to enable hardware virtualization in Aptio Setup Utili

Hello,

Most important question: What is the error? We're not all-knowing here.
It might not be VT-x related at all, Android should be x86 in a VM and expect it to act weird.

Check the Virtualbox forums for specific details.
But a bit more on the VT issue:
I got a pc (here Medion) with Aptio as well. Problem is that I have AMD cpu on this one so the comparison won't help much.
Here the BIOS reports virtualization is on, I think. If your pc is new this year/last year, than VT-x should normally be on by default.

BUT: here Speccy says virtualization is disabled as well! Be careful, it might be a false warning. I can use virtualization in Virtualbox: the tab is enabled and I don't get any errors/warnings. So VT is ON even if Spaccy says it isn't. Check multiple sources to make sure.

Actually a good place to look is the VM log: Vbox.log in the VM folder: I see in my case AMD-V is used so virtualization is enabled.

Code:
00:00:03.677075 HM: Using AMD-V implementation 2.0!

In your case for Intel you should search for VT-X because it will report it ON or OFF.
Sorry, I'm not on my Intel machine at the moment but the previous lines should tell you what you need.

Good luck.

Hopachi

A:Need Help ASAP Strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility

This is an easy one.

You already know your computer does not detect the presence of a hard disk or other boot media.

I suggest you disconnect and reconnect the disk to be sure it is making connection. If that doesn't work, try replacing the cable with another known-good cable--perhaps one inside the machine currently connected to the DVD/CD drive, Try connecting the disk to another system to see if it is recognized there. It probably won't be, in which case you will simply have to replace the disk drive.

The good news is they are cheap these days.

F1 does nothing but repeat prior line.
F2 brings up the BIOS settings.

Boot sequence only shows:
Diskette Drive

no new HD listed.

I also cannot get it to boot from Windows XP disk even after I change the boot sequence to IDE CD ROM Drive in the first position. Although, yesterday it did attempt to load XP, but ended at a BSOD - Unmountable_boot_volume.

Help. What should my next step be?

So I turned on the computer and got the msg: Strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility.

I popped in an XP Pro CD (its burnt), and pressed F1...restarts and comes back to the same page...
The other problem is: the CD tray closes, opens, closes, then opens and stays OPEN!...is this a hardware problem?...or the computer rejecting the CD?

My boot sequence has CDROM as #1...Anyone know the problem/solution?

Firstly remove your email addy from your post (using "EDIT")
This is an Open Public Forum, all messages will be replied to here (like mine right now)

Is this version of Windows legitamit?
There are many reasons to answer this truthfully, as there are many different (known) Windows versions out there.

Now, that "Burnt CD" is it bootable in the first place?
The best way to tell, would be by putting it into another computer to test

Is your CD drive just a CD Drive and the disc is a DVD disc?
Usually Windows Xp comes on CD, but can be burnt to DVD

Do other bootable disks work in the drive?
You can download the Ultimate Boot CD to confirm this.

Waiting for your reply...

Processor : Intel (R) Core (TM) i5 - 5200U CPU @ 2.20GHz
Installed Memory RAM : 4 GB
System Type : 64-bit OS, x64-based processor

Problem :

My father had given me his laptop which he bought in 2015. I sent it to format to a guy. Then. I found my laptop not functioning well - it is very slow opening folders, opening context menu, even moving the cursor would take forever a lot of times. I also noticed many bloatwares - I have 3 trial anti-viruses, a few software I don't know etc.

So, I decided to do a factory reset. I chose complete reset. Unfortunately the reset failed and my notebook goes into a bootloop - Press the On button>Displayed Asus logo>restart>display asus logo>restart>again and again.

So far, I have only been able to open BIOS. Which I have no idea what to do with it or what it is capable of doing.

I failed to open recovery partition (I think the previous repair guy deleted it)

I have consulted Asus Support which told me to update my BIOS - Which I cannot because my BIOS is up to date.

Asus Support gave me another option that is to run chipset driver (?) which I cannot because how can I run application when I cannot even open windows?

That's all. Thank you. Hope you guys can help.

Hit F2...go into BIOS/Setup...and verify two things:a. Your hard drive is properly reflected on the main page (along with date/time, etc.).b. That your hard drive is the first item in the boot options section of your BIOS.You might as well also ensure that your date/time data is correct.Worth Reading, IMO.Louis

Hi All,

I really nned some help with my Dell dimension 4600 desktop pc. My 120gb Hard drive started to make a clicking sound and the pc would not boot up, i guessed the drive has died. So i purchased a nw 320gb Western Digital Pata drive (ide connection). took out old drive and straight swapped it with new one. when i bought pc from dell around 6,7 yrs now it came with xp home edition. i don't have the original disks but i have an xp pro disk.
after fitting new h/drive in i pressed power button but keep gettin the message "F1 TO RE BOOT, F2 FOR SETUP UTILITY"
I HAVE TRIED:
removin cr2032 battery for 30 mins from m/board (power cable pulled out" then tried but same message.

i have removed all the ide connections and re inserted but to no AVAIL.

I HAVE TRIED EVERY VARIATION I COULD THINK OF IN THE BIOS SETTINGS TO BOOT FROM CD ONLY,HARD,USB ETC BUT STILL NOTHING. still get same message.

Could it be my xp pro boot up cd is faulty?, i have put the cd in laptop(which has vista home prem on it) and it loads up to the main xp screen so i assume it is a bootable disk.

on the problem dimension machine i have 2 cd rom drives and a floppy drive if thats of any help.

I would really appreciate some kind soul/s help on this. my kids have no pc and i can't afford a new one at the moment hence why i spent the ?50 on a new hard drive.

A:[SOLVED] Dell dimension 4600, F1 to re boot, F2 to setup utility ERROR

Boot order set floppy, cd, hd?

edit: because this doesn't help -'I HAVE TRIED EVERY VARIATION I COULD THINK OF IN THE BIOS SETTINGS TO BOOT FROM CD ONLY,HARD,USB ETC BUT STILL NOTHING'

edit again: was the 'old' drive an IDE?

With the 'new' drive in, does it show in Bios?

My 1 year old Asus Router is stuck in a boot loop. I have tried holding down the reset button while the device is unplugged and then plugging it in which is suppose to put it in recovery mode but I keep getting this error everytime I try to flash it back to factory settings.
Does anyone have this router and/or has possibly experienced this same issue? If so please share because I'm at wits end with this $180 router. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A:Asus RT-N66U Stuck in Boot Loop. Please Help!

Funny thing, I just got this same router several days ago. Try this to get into rescue mode:

With the router disconnected, press and hold the restore button. Connect power, and continue holding the restore button until the power light starts slowly flashing on and off. It's now in recovery mode.

Next connect an Ethernet cable from your system to one of the router's LAN ports. On your system's Ethernet interface, you can either configure it for DHCP and wait a bit so it gets a self-assigned IP address (169.254.###.###), or you can assign 192.168.1.2/255.255.255.0 to it. If you do the latter, you should be able to open up a web browser and visit the recovery mode website at http://192.168.1.1/. From it you can erase the NVRAM and upload a firmware, though I prefer the utility because it forces you to wait until the firmware is flashed and working.

You may want to read through the entire post: http://www.linksysinfo.org/index.php?threads/the-wireless-router-is-not-in-rescue-mode-asus-rt-n66u-help.68801/

I also recommend Merlin firmware, running beta3 and no problems: http://www.lostrealm.ca/tower/node/79

I have an ASUS Eee 1005 HA laptop running XP that is stuck in a boot loop. I was watching a music video when the sound starting looping/repeating fast, and then the machine briefly crashed to a blue screen and then to start up. I have tried to start windows normally, in safe mode, and last known good, but no luck. It briefly starts to load, stalls for about 5 secs and then crashes back to the "start windows normally" prompt.

The machine does not appear to be overheating, and I tried re-seating the RAM. No help.

I do not have a recovery partition on my HD, or the XP CD. I also do not have an inboard or external cd/dvd drive so I can't reinstall windows that way.

Is this laptop toast? Can anyone offer suggestions? Thanks in advance.

A:ASUS Laptop Stuck in Boot Loop

Get a look at the error message presented by the BSOD (blue screen of death) ....Start tapping the F8 key after you press the ON button, and continue tapping until you are presented with the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" screen.
Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to select "Disable automatic restart on system failure" and press the <ENTER> key.Your system will attempt to restart normally, but when it crashes, it will not re-start: Instead, you will see a BSOD with error message.
Record the error message details (contained in the areas outlined in red, in the above example image), and post in your reply.

Hi

Wondering if anyone can give some advice please?

I upgraded my friend's Asus K55A to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1. There was issues with wifi so I thought I'd restore it and delete everything and start again using the options in system settings. It said that there was a problem and the restore couldn't complete and now it's stuck in a boot loop and won't get past the Asus logo screen. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

I bought 5 Lenovo M900s with W10 Pro pre-installed. I configured machine A completely and then successfully ran Sysprep, OOBE - (Generalize) > Shutdown. I took the source SSD from machine A and a target SSD from machine B and put them in a duplicator and successfully ran that process. I pulled the target SSD from the duplicator and inserted back into the machine from whence it came, fired it up and it it whirred to life... "Getting resources ready" passed. "Region/Language" passed. At the "Customize settings" screen I have used both the "Express settings" and customized the options available. When I click next it goes to a black screen, thinks for 5 seconds, and then reboots back to the region selection screen. I have successfully used this method previously with 5 Lenovo M900s configured the exact same way.

A:Successful Sysprep and SSD duplication; boot loop during setup.

Does the ooriginal, the source SSD go into restart loop, too? Sysprepping Windows 10, OOBE restarting a few times and always coming back to languages and formats dialog is not unusual. I've occasionally had three restarts before finally getting to user creation and further.

We could check the answer file, and if the source SSD goes through OOBE normally also the setupact.log file from C:\Windows\System32\Sysprep\Panther folder. Please zip them and attach in a post, of course replacing all possible personal information in answer file with Xs or whatever.

Hi All, I updated my z570 succesfully from windows 8.1 to windows10 back in 2015 and using succesfullly without any problems. when tried to update from 1703 got error which used to rolled back with automatic repair and recovery to previous version automatically after 2, 3 hard shutdowns. Recently when windows 10 is updating to latest security and  other updates (I defferred the feature updates like 1803 using some MS windows utility, So proceeded confidently with update). However during update the laptop entered into this endless restart loop. After hard shutdown with power key 2, 3 times its showing message that 'Attemptiing Automatic repair' then 'recovery to previous installed version' but quickly again restarting back in loop.  I tried following other methods:1. Tried entering to setup by pressing F2 - no luck2. Created bootable USB and started laptop and pressed F12 continuosly - no luck3. Removed battery and pressed power button for a while and restarted hoping to enter setup - didnt helped4. used One touch recovery key next to power button while system is off hoping after system on takes me to sestup page - didnt helped If I could atleast enter setup or boot will try to solve, I Sincerely request memebers here to help me solving this issue. Thanks

I have an old Dell Latitude C610 Laptop, Pentium III, that I got from a friend who's son got some wicked virus on it and the computer was pretty much useless. It would boot and load windows but once it finished loading, it would freeze, wouldn't let me run a virus scan, nothing.

To make a long story short, I used a utility on my 'Ultimate Boot CD" to wipe the drive clean. Oh, my friend didn't have the restore disk either. Now I get this message "No boot sector on hard disk - No bootable devices - strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility" I have a Windows XP disk that I tried using to reinstall the OS but kept getting the same message. I set the bios so the CD Rom would boot first, did no good. My UBCD boots just fine so, it is not a bad HD. The laptop doesn't have a floppy drive either so, I can't make boot floppies.

Help

Hi

did you buy any chance remove the drive from the laptop at all... ?

the c610 has a little blade adaptor that changes the standard IDE pins into a flat set of pins, they sometimes dont sit right or the drive isnt snugly in the drive bay....

take it out and reinsert it,,on boot up go into the BIOS (F2 at boot) and check the drive shows, if it doesnt then the drive has died and needs to be replaced.

regards
