Reverse Proxy

Q: Reverse Proxy

I would like to use OWA in my network, and I am using MS ISA for my proxy. I need a good resource to install a reverse proxy to come back to the network. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi folks,

I am using XP-pro. I am trying to get an application, which does not let you specify any network settings and ports, to use instead of the internet which is filtered and blocked by a firewall, a connection which i established via ssh on the localhost.

I am looking for an application which will route all connections to the internet (no matter which port or only specific ports) to

I am not talking about the IE proxy settings here.

I am trying to setup a Win8 box as a "reverse proxy" web server using IIS.

The goal is as simple as it gets. I do not need subdomains to go to different servers, but rather to redirect all port-80 and port-443 (HTTP and HTTPS) traffic to http://localhost:2080.

I have been trying to get IIS to do that for a week now, without any success. I feel depressed and worthless
Is there any good soul out there who would be willing to explain me, in a few steps, how the above can be accomplished? Many many thanks in advance!

Thinking of using IIS and URL rewrite for a pure reverse proxy server on a Windows 10 machine which will be routing traffic to 3 Struts2 Web applications using Apache Tomcat servers on Windows 10 machines.

Am thinking of using a windows 10 machine with following hardware specifications for a pure reverse proxy server which will be routing traffic to 3 other web application servers on windows 10 machines.

Processor : Intel Quad Core i7-6700K
Processor Speed : 4 GHz
RAM : 32GB DDR4.
64bit machine
HardDisk : 500GB (partitioned with 200 GB in C: drive and 300 GB in the other drive.)
Operating System : 64 bit Windows 10

IIS and URL rewrite will be used for reverse proxy and application servers will be using tomcat apache and Java Struts2.

2 of the application servers will have maximum 5 simultaneous users and third one 10 simultaneous users.

Please let me know whether above specifications are good enough.

I am having an issue with the PROXY settings in Windows 10. In a nutshell, this is the problem I'm experiencing, when you click on the Settings in Windows 10, go to Network and Internet, then go to and click on Proxy, the manual proxy setup will not stay OFF. I've updated windows 10 several times, ran troubleshooters, fiddled with registry settings, contacted Microsoft Support who had me create a new user profile but nothing seems to keep it off. When I select at the top automatically detect settings to ON and turn the manual proxy setup to OFF, about 2 mins later after searching it auto turns back ON on its own. I have ran Malwarebytes Prem., Advanced Systemcare Pro, and Norton Prem. and no malware issues or viruses. IF ANYONE CAN HELP Please let me know, I would greatly appreciate a solution to this issue.

Hi, new to the forum so hope I am posting this in the correct location.

Here's what i am trying to do:

1. Send all traffic from my LAN, or a single IP address on my LAN through an external proxy server.

The reason i need to do this is that I live in France, but I have satellite TV (SKY) from the my home country, UK, and to use some of the services such as on-demand TV I need the satellite box to present itself with a UK WAN IP Address. I also have an internet radio which i use to connect to a few UK radio stations, but again a couple of the stations I like to listen to do not allow connections from IP addresses outside of the UK, so if I can route this traffic through a UK proxy it should fix the problem.

So, what I was thinking was that I need to install some sort of proxy server on my LAN, between the ADSL router and all the computers/devices currently on the LAN and either route all traffic through an external proxy in the UK, or setup rules on the internal proxy to route only the traffic from select internal IPs through the external proxy.

Now, where I am stuck is that I have not worked in IT for over 4 years now, and to be honest I seem to forgot a lot, so I need some help here.

1. What proxy can I use on the LAN? Either Linux or Windows, I have spare PC or Laptop to run it on. Preferably free software.
2. A proxy service in the UK that will allow me to route my traffic through them. I don't mind if I have to pay a small amount each month.

I appear to be the victim of some piece of malware or virus that has added a proxy server setting that I am unable to get rid of. The main symptoms are that I am unable to change my proxy server settings in Windows 10. It appears to use this setting http=;. The result of this is that I am unable to do searches in the omnibar of Google Chrome (just takes me to a blank page) and I can't visit certain webpages, also if I am able to do a Google search the "Search Tools" button is missing.
I looked around on the internet and have tried a few fixes, I've deleted or changed the registry entries mentioned in Philip Turner's reply here: https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/446898-can-t-disable-proxy-in-ie10?page=1
I also changed the entry mentioned here: https://fixedit.itxpress.biz/2014/10/08/unable-to-disable-windows-proxy-setting/
Making these changes allowed me to change the proxy server settings and once I change "Automatically detect settings" to on and "Use a a proxy server" to off then the issue is fixed and everything behaves normally.
The problem is, once I restart my computer the settings revert back and are again unable to be changed unless I delete/change all the above registry entries again. I'm pretty sure that whatever did this is still on my computer somewhere and I need some help finding and eliminating it. Either that, or there is still some hidden registry entry that I am unable to find.

A:Reverse DNS

I'm not really sure what you are seeing. Every IP address (that's the numeric address) has a "common" domain name associated with it.

If you know the IP you should be able to "ping" it and see the domain name associated with it. Similarly if you ping the domain name, you should get the IP.

For example if you open a command prompt and enter:

ping www.techguy.org

you should see:

come up as the IP. You could paste that into an address line and get here.

If you run tracert

You should arrive at the destination domain

If you/they are not getting a Domain Name, the fault normally lies in the DNS servers which host the association. In that case, try the IP if you know it.

There is also a useful site here you can use for lookups:

Windows XP, servicepack 3 was running on my computer.

The computer would not boot up unless in Safe Mode.

While in Sade Mode with Networking, I was able to download from downloads.com Norton, EUsing (a registry cleaner) and do a virus scan with Norton from which nothing showed except four cookie type items that I deleted.

After figuring that I am unable to detect a virus, i should do what I have heard to do, put an XP disc in my computer and try to boot up from it.

Now, I am unable to get back to Safe Mode because the computer wants to set up the rest of the new XP install. I don't think I asked for that option, i only remeber asking for the repair option.

Now I am stuck and am concerned, hoping I can get back to where I was and fix the comptuer to get to my original everything before any of this started to happen.

Please help!

A:can I reverse what I have done?

You should be able to continue on and at some point, such as when it shows you the partitioning for your install, you should be able to not accept it and it will ask you if you want to discontinue the installation. Try that out.

Realistically, you could just power it off and reboot it and it should allow you to boot into Safe Mode because it never finished the setup from before.

You typically cannot downgrade a firmware installation. Some installers offer an option to save the original firmware, and can downgrade, but most do not.

My printer, a Pixma 130 has developed a strange behavior. The sheets feeder instead of sending the paper forwards all the way, only advances a fraction, and then reverse backwards . I tried to dismantle the machine in search of a possible strange object that I never found in part because I could not reach the rollers, but mainly because I was afraid of not being able to ensemble back so many parts.

Any idea on how to solve this problem ?
I would appreciate a helping hand.....

A:Printer in reverse !!!! Please help !!

I'm not an expert on printers; but, I can deduct this. Correct or not, here goes:

If there is no paper jamming, no paper alignment problem, etc., the problem is not a mechanical one. Instead, it is in the instructions the printer is giving the mechanical parts. Disconnect the printer from the computer, disconnect the printer's power source, get out the printer's manual, determine how to print a test or alignment page without the aid of a computer, connect the printer to its power source, turn it on and print that test page.

What you are attempting to do is determine whether this problem originates in the computer or the printer. If you get the same response in this test, the printer is the source of the problem. If not, the problem is in the computer, most likely in the driver or other printer software.

you gotta' know where the problem is before you can work on it effectively.

You have not provided your Windows version or your Internet Explorer version.
I am assuming Internet Explorer.
If you have less than Internet Explorer 7 - I would recommend downloading that.
If you have 7. You may try resetting your security settings.
Tools > Internet Optoions > Security Tab -
Click - Default leve, or Reset All Zones to default level - or if you have added some custom settings you may try choosing - Custom - then where it says reset to and by default it would be - medium high - (unless you have changed it) hit reset. - Try medium high if yours is on high.
After closing and opening Internet Explorer - if pop ups do not work then -
You may try - Clicking on the Advanced tab - then choosing -
Reset Advanced settings, if after restarting Internet Explorer - that does not work.
You may try - disabling add ons - several at a time - until - hopefully your pop ups work.
A shortcut to that is also to hit the "Reset" on the Advanced tab - it states there that it will
disable Add ons - google toolbar, yahoo toolbar, and other BHO's.

You can always go back in and re-enable them by going to: Programs > Managing Add Ons - and choosing them - one at a time - and choosing to enable them.

If you are using Internet Explorer 8 - best of luck - I am not using that.
Also if you have no luck you can try a different browser - download locations listed below:

I've got a couple of raritan KVM switches with emulation and I doubt that you can use these in reverse (one computer into the monitor/keyboard/mouse "output" and then one of the KVM "inputs" to one of the raritan KVM switch "inputs" and the other basic KVM input into another flat panel vga input (alongside my main monitor, just to monitor programs running on the non-internet computer. However, I've also got a basic 2 in, 1 out KVM switch without emulation, and I just wondered if I could use that in reverse instead of buying something like a dual-head vga video card? I'm guessing that when the basic kvm switch without a mouse & KB and only a monitor on one side, it would lock-up the non-internet box, though.

A:Can you use a KVM switch in reverse?

No, the KVM will not/cannot operate as a video "splitter" or dual video output from a single input.

The video driver electronics is completely one directional, designed to accept one of the two inputs, switching it to an output.

I have a LAN DNS issue. Forward and reverse lookups do not match when using nslookup. For example, HostA resolves to say, but resolves to HostB. This is a Windows-based network with Windows PCs and servers. I have full access to the servers for troubleshooting.

What is causing this, and how can I begin troubleshooting?

Thank you...

Can I run something that makes sure all of my folder Attributes are at the default settings?

I did something I didn't want to, based on this page . . . Windows command-line command to list hidden folders . . . http://superuser.com/questions/277379/windows-command-line-command-to-list-hidden-folders

I was trying to figure out if there were any errors in what my bat file was doing.

To get the output, I thought I should go to the "Startup" folder in cmd.exe, which is hidden, and run: Startup.bat > testlog.txt 2> testerrors.txt

To get there, I would have to un-hide some folders.

I found the above page, and ran the attrib command with those switches.

I think I did this in the C:\ProgramData folder (normally hidden)

I think that I put this in an elevated command prompt, based on the second answer . . . attrib -s -h -r /s /d *.*. and hit Enter

Maybe I just put this in . . . attrib -s -h -r /s /d

I thought, I'll just go fast and not think, nothing can happen . . . then, of course, I read on that same page, also, that this can alter your folder attributes . . . they should preface that with the word "CAUTION."

I think I did see a lot of "NOT ACCESSIBLE . . . " flashing by . . . it was doing something.

Is there any way to tell if I altered my folder attributes or not?

Including registry, obviously.

Does anyone know of an app that can remove everything that an installer installs (ie not an uninstaller, I want this because I know that some apps do not remove all registry entries for example).

PS. Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I was unsure where to post this.

Try going into Device Manager and RollBack Driver , but souds like it is a seetings issue.

First right click on an empty place on the desktop and choose properties

Then Settings tab, and try lowering the resolution

ok so heres the story my parents like to turn off the net at night and during the weekdays so i only have access on the weekends and well... it sucks. (and to top it off they make me have a wireless conn. on my desktop) so i came up with a plan to put a modem in the attic where they wont see it and then run a cat-5 to my room or get a wireless router and there for have constant access

but as many of you have probably realize i can convert the phone (analog) to the cat-5 (digital) but will then have to re convert it to analog as to be unnoticed by the parentals

how do i go about re converting the modem to analog for my parents modem
any info. would be great thanks,

A:need to reverse a modem

Though I respect you for your honesty, you pretty much shot yourself in the foot by being honest. We can't help you override the wishes of your parents. Maybe if you were over 18 and owned the connection, it would be a different story.

Sometimes, there really is such a thing as giving too much information. I'm glad you're not my lawyer

I cant seem to remember how to get my forward zone to automatically create and update my reverse zone... Anyone know of a way to automate the process?

A:Bind 9 and reverse DNS

I am sure you already have an answer to this but you can use the `make-localhost' script in the /etc/namedb directory to generate the reverse DNS files.

First, i have an ipod touch that i would like to access the internet from my house.
I do not have wireless internet, and do not want it because i am an internet gamer and a wire is the way to go for me. Also NONE of my neighbors, or my anyone on my entire street have wireless internet so i cant "borrow" it from them.
But i really really want wireless for my ipod, i found this site telling me that i could put a wireless card in my computer and reroute the internet out of the card instead of into it. That would mean that i get to keep my wired internet and have my computer as a wireless router... Right? Does anyone know of anything like this working, i dont want to go waste 50$ on a wireless card for nothing.
source: http://www.informit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=1077907&seqNum=1

Right now i have a setup like this
modem > router > hub > my computer's.
I have two computers in my room, and can only install 1 wire from the router because we have 3 other comptuers, so i use a hub in my room.
This is extremely long, and any help is appreciated.
I will continue
would it be just as easy/easier to get rid of the hub in my room and get a dual wireless/wire router for my room (leaving out the rest of the system cause that cannot be played with)
or i could do router > hub > wireless router, but that would probably blow the first router..
Much thanks in advance....
im finished... i think
