size of mailbox content.

Q: size of mailbox content.

I am using windows XP with both OE and Outlook mail boxes.

I get the usual messages telling me that my mail box is oversize and correct this by deleting messages.

I know the maximum size of my mail boxes but I can not fine any way of checking the size of the contents at any given time.

Does anyboby know if it is possible to do this?

Many thanks

Preferred Solution: size of mailbox content.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: size of mailbox content.

With Outlook open, look on the left side under "Outlook Shortcuts". Right Click on the Folder that you want to know the size of and Click "Properties". Look towards the Bottom Left of the "Properties" window that opens and Click on the "Folder Size" button. That should do it.

Can anyone help with mailbox size problems.

We are on a ISDN network(?) and cannot move message to folders. Can open but can't do anything else. Tech Support says that there is no more space, but that it could be a virus, corrupted or hard drive is dying. Is there anyway we can do something about this problem? I realize that this isn't much information, but can give more if this is the proper place to post. Thanks

I have a site with about 30 users, running Exchange 2007 on Windows Server 2008 R2, with "roaming" profiles and "cached Exchange mode" enabled.

One user has a mailbox size (cached OST) of 9.5gb, with the server size slightly larger (about 9.6gb)

I have found and implemented the MS KB article regarding the maximum mailbox size, and increased her mailbox via the registry to the maximum size supported, which is 51gb. This should be PLENTY of space for her, but as soon as she logs out and back on again, the registry values return to the default values.

So... I implemented a group policy to "force" her computer to the 51gb maximum, but she is still getting errors that her mailbox size is over the limit, and she needs to archive her mail. And I have archived a bunch of her mail, but she's still getting the errors.

Also I have ran SCANOST on her OST file (didn't help) and renamed her OST file and allowed Outlook to rebuild it, which worked for about half a day, then she started having problems again.

Any suggestions on how to get Outlook to stop thinking the mailbox size is over the limit?

A:Exchange mailbox size limit reached - but it's not!

Did some more digging today, and while I was doing that, got a pop-up notification in the task bar stating that there were too many items in the "Sent Items" folder, and that mail would be sent, but stay in the "Outbox" until space was cleared up in Sent Items.

So I archived anything in Sent Items older than 3 months, and that brought the total OST file down to just under 2gb. The mail in the Outbox was still there, so I checked the message tracking from the server, and found that 12 of them (out of 28) had actually gone through, so those were just dragged from the Outbox to the trash.

The remaining email messages were just double-clicked and Sent (again?), and went through.

I didn't really pay attention to how many items there actually were in the Sent Items folder, but estimated there were a lot as they went back as far as 2008. Is there a set number of items defined anywhere that would stop mail from being sent when this number is reached? I'm not referring to "performance issues", but more of a "hard stop" issue.

We're looking to setup a 400mb limit (yes I know it...big) on users and also create an autoarchive pst on their local computer to unload email from the server older than a month. What would be the easiest way to go about both things without having to go to each machine? Would need to do the autoarchive part before we implemented the limit.

I'm wondering if somebody could help me with this.
Some applications do not show UI elements correctly.
E.g. During the installation of application, the checkboxes, texts and radiobuttons on the window?s layouts, are larger than they should be. For this reason they are "out of window". For better explanation I've uploaded a screenshot :

In Windows XP I have two applications that use windows you can't resize. They are displaying content that is too big for the window but aren't providing scrollbars. So, I'm not able to see the bottom of the window to use the application. So, it renders the window and application useless. One of the applications happens to be the printer interface that allows me to change the settings for the printer. I have both applications installed on another computer they don't have this issue. I have tried all sorts of things like rebooting, CTRL and scroll, resolution and DPI settings and nothing has helped.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

So if I use a wide screen and surf in a website which doesn't wide screens, the browser size will change by the resolution of the website.

Hi Everyone,

I filmed using a Sony HVR-ZE1, on HDV, and have slightly editted.
Now I am trying to output in both HD (slightly uprezzed i know) and SD formats, so i can compare them.

As I am trying to emulate television I have gone for MPEG2 format, as many of the tv stations in the UK broadcast in this, in both analogue and digital.
I am using the Adobe Media Encoder to acheive this.

Having output the files as HD:

1920x1080
PAL
25FPS
Upper First
Widescreen (1.0)
VBR, 2 pass - Min = 12mbps
Target = 18mbps
Max = 25mbps

And basically the same for SD:

720x576
PAL
25FPS
Upper First
Widescreen (1.422)
VBR, 2 pass - Min = 12mbps
Target = 18mbps
Max = 25mbps

I now find that all SD files are EXACTLY same size as the HD...
That surely can't be right?! I know the bitrates are the same and all, but you'd expect SOME difference...

I am trying to make a comparison, and so would it be unfair to show them like this? Is there a better way?

Thanks everyone.

I have listed this question on the Adobe Forums, but I need a quick answer and so am asking all the forums i think might know.
http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c05db44

A:Exporting HDV content using Premiere Pro 2 in HD & SD, but files are the same size!?

Nope. If you use the same bitrates for video and audio on the same file and the converting program accepts and uses those bitrates (compatible with the file format) then you will get file sizes that are almost the same, if not exactly the same.

Compression is more of an art and not so much a science, though it is technical. The whole idea about compression is to "see" what bitrates you can use in any format to produce the best looking video possible with the smallest file size possible in most cases, and be relevant to the playback device that the video will be shown on.

If you playback your two converted videos on a 60 inch screen you should notice differences. If they both look bad, you didn't give the 1920 enough bitrate if you wanted it to look good on a 60 inch screen. If they both look good then you probably overdid it on the bitrate for the 720 unless the goal was to have a 720 look good on a 60 inch screen. You're trying to compare apples and oranges. A better comparison would be to convert to several different formats all at 1920 with the same bitrate and see which one looked the best.

SUre enough, C:/Documents and Settings/NetworkService/Temporary Internet Files/Content.IE5 is filling up with folders and junk in real time. These are not files that I have ever ever downloaded, seen, etc. It's like there is some background process that is downloading junk even when IE is closed. Because it is happening in real time and it is content that I have never seen, I think it is viral in nature. I know its not just a matter of never clearing out the temp folder. Tried doing rmdir /S and it works for some, but others say process is being used and won't let me delete. In any case, new ones are being opened and filling up.

Hello everyibe,
We have a hydride infrastructure, with E2016 onpremise and O365 (Exchange, teams...). On both sites we have the same users and separate created mailboxes.
We are migrating mailboxes from Ex2016 to O365 in phases to remove E2016.
Users on both sites have the same mailbox name. Example: E2016 [email protected] and O365 mailbox [email protected]

Issue:
When we migrate a user's mailbox to O365 and from ExchangeOnline we send an email to a non-migrated user, the email reaches the existing mailbox in O365, not the onpremise mailbox.

An alias has been created for non-migrated users in O365, marking themselves as main and we have tried to delete the default email address given by the username. But even if the latter is deleted, the deleted email address always appears, so the email always
reaches O365 and not E2016.

Is there any way that when a user with a migrated O365 mailbox sends an email to a user with a mailbox in E2016 onpremise, the email does not go to the O365 mailbox and to the onpremise mailbox?

What would be the solution to keep the default username (for teams solutions, etc) and to be able to modify the email in O365?

Thank you

Looking to get some help with possible malware. I am running server 2008 R2 with exchange 2010. This is for personal domain and a home bisness domain. About 3 years ago I had sonicwalls hardware malware, anti-virus and email filtering, but that service ended and I didn't renew it. Over the last 3 years it hasn't had any protection. Two weeks I received a notification that the server storage was full. I couldn't understand this because I have about 4 accounts with a make limit of 3 GB each. Things didn't add up. While using Remote Desktop I went and downloaded ccleaner to take a look and while doing so noticed I had a google redirect issue. At this point I knew something was up and I was infected with something. So ccleaner ran and I gained some space back and installed Microsoft security essentials and let it search but after 2 days it never finished. I stopped it and ran chkdsk on startup. Four days later it returned back the drive was OK. I then tried defrag to see if it would allow the malware scan to run. Defrag ran for 2 days and made it was far as about 10% so I stopped that too. I was able to account for about 50-60 GB of space but never was able to fully see one area. I went to SSDs on all of my computers some time back, but I still use WD RE4s and 2.5 inch WD Black HDDs for a variety of backup tasks and for storage in which the data will not be accessed for a period longer than is ideal to use a non-powered SSD for. On my Macs I am using El Capitan with OS X Journeled, GUID map, and FileVault 2 encryption. On my SP3 and desktop I am using NTFS with Win 10 64-bit Pro with BitLocker enabled on both machines. The OS and third party programs are currently up to date.

I've generally used ExFAT and the GPT partition map because it allows me to use it on all of my computers, and I have always used the default cluster size. However, I do not think the default size was the best decision for me because the size on disk is over TWICE the actual size.

If I am correct, the default Win 10 cluster size is 4k, and that going BELOW that is useful for the drives I have many smaller files on. Is this correct? Additionally, the smaller cluster size I go, the slower the drive will write, correct? Also, if so, how low do you advise going? I am still torn between reformatting outright or trying one of the programs that allows changes to a currently in-use drive. Any advice? Thanks!

A:Hard drive cluster size issues? Size on HDD over twice the actual size

For the a sector size of 4k to double your disk utilization you'd have to have a really tiny average file size. From your numbers shown the average size if I calculate it correct is 132kb (unless you have 1 massive file and 17,711 tiny ones) so a 4k size will make no difference.

You could check with TreeSize Free - it will tell you if you right click on the status bar and select it to be displayed.

EDIT - having checked the default for ExFat is 128k for drives over 32GB (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/140365) and when I tried to format an external USB drive that is what it picked. According to macbook - Reformat exFat with specific Device Block Size and Cluster Size - Ask Different OSX picks 128k also.

So if you had 128k as your cluster size minimum disk utilization would be 17,772 files * 128k = 2.17GB. So if all your files were just over this (say 132k which looks like your current average size) you would be using 4.44GB add a couple of big files and it could easily be 6GB.

I would check your average file sizes and also your current cluster size (you can use chkdsk as described in the AskDifferent link above).

The default is 4k for NTFS and I have always formatted ExFat as 4k also. Depending on your current setting reformatting 4k looks like a good idea.

As for how - copying the data elsewhere, formatting and then copying it back has to be the easiest, safest and most likely fastest way. You'll also get the disk defragmented automatical... Read more

Again, inserting the exact same type DVD-R disk with video content into this drive works just fine.

I just now registered here because in trying to resolve an email problem I found a thread that was a couple of years old on this website that mentioned the same issue, but it didn't appear to be fixed at the time. I was migrating from a Windows 7 PC to a Windows 8 and everything transferred smoothly -- documents, photos, music, etc. Then I tried to set up my email. I entered all of the info (account, imap, smtp, etc.) and it all seemed to work -- and then all hell broke loose with about 100 messages saying I'd exceeded my mailbox quota. Looks like spam, and I marked it as junk, deleted it, removed it from the trash, etc. Did the same thing on the ISP website, and identified it as span there. Also checked to make sure the "leave a copy of messages on the server" was unchecked and cleaned out the other folders of things that were old. I've gone folder by folder to make one of them isn't stockpiling messages and there are none. It simply isn't possible that I'm exceeding my quota. I'm also getting messages (also from "admin," which Suddenlink say isn't them) that legit messages are being "bounced" because my mailbox is full. One of those just came in, so I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what the problem is, because my ISP (Suddenlink) has no idea what's going on. I've pasted it below the line. Help???

That message is coming from your mail server (your service provider), you probably have OE set to leave copies of messages on the server.

Log in to your providers webmail, check the state of your inbox there & delete messages if necessary.

If you want to remove this option to prevent it happening in future check the options under Tools->Accounts->Mail, on your mail account click Properties & under the Advanced tab clear the checkmark from "Leave a copy of messages on server"

It is my Outlook Express Mailbox. it is a NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have over 238 messages, and cannot seem to delete them. I SEEM to be able to delete the few at the bottom, but they seem to reappear above, and I can see emails from WAY back when up there. A LONG scroll up!!
They keep reappearing. So it is like this weird game of as I am deleting them they keep appearing at the top of the scroll.

I recently joined two email lists, and so its gotten even more chaos. but earilier I got spammed by the mailbox automatic reply with loads of emails that haven't been able to get through and the warning 'MAIL BOX IS FULL!!!'

Please can anyone have patience and help me with this??? A couple of people have tried in the past but lost interest and I was left stranded with same problem.

Well now i REALLY want to understand what's wrong with my mailbox, and how to sort it out for good.

I need to access various folders which consists of XSD's, XML files, images, logos and documentation.
I was given an FTP Mailbox Access Instructions and eLink Access Mailbox Developers Guide on how to access the mailbox where the data is located.
I was told I needed a programmer to access these data.

Can anyone help?

Hi,

I have set a pst as a default inbox in outlook 2007 and I use Microsoft vista. Due to this, i have two issues with the calendar
- the meeting invite sent by me (am being organizer) is not showing up in my calendars (pst and mailbox)
- if a meeting is cancelled, the invitation gets removed from pst calendar but shows as cancelled invite in mailbox calendar (the invite is not getting removed/deleted).

Can anyone help me?

how do i forward one mailbox to more thatn one recipient?

A:exchange mailbox forwarding

The easiest way would be to create a new distribution group in Active Directory and add the users who will be receving the forwarded e-mail in that new group. Then set the E-mail forward feature to forward to the new distribution group

In Microsoft Outlook 2000, I am not able to see my messages in my mailbox (all folders are empty) on one computer, but I could see them on another computer. Both computers are same and running same Windows 2000 operating system. And it's the same profile being used on both computers-same mailbox in exchange.

I am using Outlook Express 6. I have 2 laptops and am connected to my HP Home Server. I would like to store mail on the server so that when I access mail from either computer I see the same mailbox storage.

Is there some way I can accomplish this?

Thanks

Hi:

I am running Exchange 2000 and have a user that set up the out of office assistant when he was on vacation. When he returned he found out that he couldn't turn this feature off from Outlook. He gets the error message: "The command is not available".

I'm assuming that his exchange rules are corrupted but, how do I fix his mailbox?

Thanks in advance

Pat

PS: I have repaired his Outlook on his workstation.

Hi,

Does anybody know of a 'Mailbox Attachment Stripper' for Outlook Express in Win XP? I used the very neat and free 'OE QTools' from ajsystems.com when I was using Win.98se *but* it fails to work in XP even in Compatibility Mode.

I want to reduce the size of my Inbox & Sent box, as I have pretty large attachments that are just using up space. It's a tool that Microsoft failed to introduce with OE 6 SR-1, it would've been nice to include it with XP SP1 but they missed it out there as well.

I did find this during a websearch but I'm a bit wary as it looks dodgy! Anybody used it?

Any ideas folks? Hopefully someone else has a solution to this rather obvious problem. Thanks!

Sorry if I'm repeating other postings re this problem, I searched but most postings re 'attachments' are about trying to read them - maybe I'm looking in the wrong place here

I experienced an unusual occurence when moving exchange mailboxes from a NT4.0 Xchng 5.5 to a W2K server Xchng 5.5.
These mailboxes are for remote locations connecting thru modems

1. In groups of 10, I disabled "Grant dial in permission to user" (to make sure they didn't dial in during the transfer)
2. Moved mailboxes from Xchng srvr NT to Xchng srvr W2K
3. Confirmed the mailboxes were on new Xchng srvr W2K
4. Enabled "Grant dial in permission to user"

I had made mailbox moves within the LAN and had no problems.

RESULT:
1. Some of the locations are having no problem connecting to their mailbox (on new Xchng srvr W2K).
2. Others we have to walk thru "Dialup Networking" (user name / password / domain). When they opened their Xchng. NOT GOOD!

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Did you also import the user accounts into the Win2K server or is the NT box still acting as domain controller? The Exchange server might be set up to look locally for the account information when validating email accounts.

I have been using 8.1 Mailbox now since the update, but strangely the go-to function within the e-mail text has stopped working. Anything outside the text seems to work well, but even though highlighted the information within the text frame is inactive.

Would welcome any information on how to correct this.

Have since discovered these go-to functions are called Hyperlinks and the best way of reactivating them is the deletion of certain registry keys. That is Run: Regedit HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Classes\CLSID. Deletion of those keys beginning 8---. I have done this but the Hyperlinks still don't work, do I delete all the items in this class?

I have had trouble with a users account not being able to log on and after a lot of investigation came to the conclusion that it would be easier to create a new user.
The mistake I made was that I created a new mailbox as well with the same username as the old one. The rest of the profile/user account works fine with 2 exceptions.

1: There are now 2 mailboxes with the users name and I've tried reconnecting to the old mailbox through Exchange manager with no Luck. The old mailbox is still visable. She can access her new mailbox but needs access to all her old emails.

2: Everytime the user logs on and tries to open Outlook, the locations settings are gone. I have to reconnect to the server thru the mail settings.

We create new users on a regular basis and haven't had this problem before. Any help would be much apprecitedUser mailbox connections

I have had trouble with Outlook over the last week. The problem is I was on a MS exchange server and had a mailbox. I won't be on the exchange server any more. I have all my information on my pc locally in my mailbox. I want to move everything from one pc to another. I have Archived my items to include everything older than today. But the Archive doesn't include everything up to today. Three months out of date. I have tried to export my Mailbox but Outlook keeps telling me I cannot do that because the file is not a .pst

Help I need to bring everything with me from this pc.

I have tried to work offline and export to a .pst it doesn't work. Help!!!!
