Q: Yoga 500 - Touchpad Out of Action, Keyboard working - CAT responsible

OK, I see there are similar posts but not sure if my issue matches those exactly. Appreciate your help if you can. Cat has walked across keyboard .... as you can see I can type and use my fingers to move on and around screen but my touchpad won't work at all. All keys on the keyboard are working. I've tried looking in the mouse/touchpad settings but not finding anything that seems to match suggestions. What should I do? Thanks in advance.Jo

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Whenever I flip the screen back to use the P40 as a tablet and then when I flip it back to laptop mode, sometimes the keyboard and mouse will not respond. It's as if the computer doesn't notice that the screen is in laptop mode and does not reactivate the keyboad and touchpad. I have to reset the laptop multiple times or close the lid and open it up again several times to get them to work again. Whenever I restart the computer the keyboard lights will turn on during startup but turn back off whenever I get to the sign in screen. I have found no pattern that consistently works to reactivate the keyboard/touchpad. I am also having an issue that when the computer is in tablet mode, it will not re-orient the screen when I change positions (like from landscape to portrait orientation). I think these issues might be something related to the sensors on  the computer not working properly... Anyone else having this problem? Any known solutions? Thanks for any help. Walter

I should mention before I begin this post that I did spill liquid on my laptop, but I got it fixed at Best buy. I'm not sure if it could be that they didn't fix it completely or what.  Anyway, about a 6 months ago, my keyboard and mouse have stopped working. This was not long after I got it fixed at Best buy. I turned on my laptop and couldnt type or move my mouse. They were totally unresponsive. A couple of times they have magically started working again when I restart my computer or leave it alone for long periods of time.  I took it to a best buy to get it checked out again but the guy who helped did not help at all. I've got my laptop fully uptodate, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers a couple times and that didn't work, I tried troubleshooting the hardware and keyboard but it didn't find any problems.  I've read a couple things about it but nothing seems to work. Can anyone help? Mei-Ling

Hey everyone, I've upgraded my ThinkPad Yoga S1 (20CD) to Windows 10. I was up to build 1607 before I started encountering issues with the onboard keyboard and touchpad losing power once the laptop gets past the BIOS load screen. Once into Windows, the fn key seems to still function, but nothing after that. Here's what I've done so far for troubleshooting:Verified drivers are current from Lenovo System Updater and support website (all drivers and BIOS are current).Checked the manufacturer's website for newer drivers for the keyboard and mouse.Brought Windows 10 up to current version 1809.Clean boot for Windows.Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers.Ran hardware troublshooting tools for keyboard and mouse.Removed the screw near the audio jack as I had read on some forums that the pressue was messing with the sensor near there.Checked the ribbon cables on the motherboard to verify they are seated correctly.Disabled sensor services (this seemed to work for a bit on Windows 1709).Tried running start up repair.Ran sfc/scannow. I'm running out of ideas, other than to go back to Windows 8, but I'd really rather not. Any suggestions/items to try that I'm missing?

I have a Lenovo Yoga 700 14ISK (ideapad) with Windows 10 64bit, whose keyboard and touchpad are refusing to work.Everything else seems to be running smoothly except for these. I initially was getting by via the on screen keyboard until I began borrowing an external wireless one. The following is what I knowReset to factory settings did not work.Optimizing OS in BIOS is enabled already (enabling this was suggested by Lenovo Support)THE ARROW KEYS WORK IN BIOS (??!???!?)An external keyboard works (I have used two different Logitech keyboards and both work)Before I sign in, FN+Space seems to work thus (re)activating my backlight. Once I sign in, it stops working. There's no updates for the keyboard driver.I have already tried to uninstall the driver, restart the laptop, and allow it to reinstall the driver.Disabling ymc did not help.F6 does not re-enable the touchpad.I tried a couple button combinations I've seen around for people disabling/enabling keyboards, but none worked. (Willing to try more though!!!) Any ideas? I thought it may be a hardware problem, but since the arrow keys work in BIOS; I'm not confident that this is the case.

I would appreciate your help with a problem I am having with my Yoga 700.   I put my laptop into sleep mode last night instead of turning it off.  When I turned it on again this morning, neither the touchpad nor the keyboard was working.  The touchscreen still works and so does a USB mouse.  The keyboard backlight still activates when I boot the laptop and the keys work fine in UEFI and on the blue Windows Recovery screen to access Safe Mode but neither works in Safe Mode itself.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers but that has not worked. I tried a system restore but that has not worked.  I have also tried holding down the power button for 15+ seconds and restarting with the main power supply connected but that did not work either. Any advice on what to do to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

My 2-year-old Lenovo YOGA 510 - 14KIB laptop has been unusable without an external keyboard and mouse for the last month after the latest windows 10 build. I've tried deleting and restoring the drivers but this didn't work. Now when I go to look for the drivers in the device manager I can't find them. I thought this would allow me to redownload them from the Lenovo support website but after trying this several times the only thing I can do with my keyboard is change the underglow of the keys and the touchpad doesn't work at all.  Any tips would be a huge help.

Hello! I just bought a Yoga 910 which I changed from a mack book pro, and I'm quite happy with it, but I was quite shocked when I saw there are no media keys(besides the volume ones) which for me is increadible, since I'm listening to music all the time, and I want to skip to the next one, listen again, start and pause( I really wonder how there are no more people complaining about this). But anyway, my idea is to change the lock screen, turn camera off, and airplane mode keys, which I will not use, at least so many times a day as I use the media ones, and I got sharpe keys, but in the function "type key" it only detectes the loc screenkey as "Special: left  windows( E0B5)", so I only changed that one for now. And since I have to restart the computer every time I don't really want to go by try and error way to find the other two... Since there are like 50 "unknow:0x00..." keys plus the "Special:..." that i don't know for which key is... So I wanted to know if you guys know the code for the aiplanemode key and turn camera off key, or how could I find that myself( I google it, but couldn't find anything), so I can change them withou losing a day restarting the computer... The other question is, I can see that I can decide for what is the three finger swipe or tap, but is only between action center and cortana, which I don't get why can't I change the tap to go to the task view? how could I set that up?Bonus question, how could I make it to, when I maximize a window to... Hi there, I have a brand new Lenovo Yoga 510 14 and the computer doesn't find the touchpad's and keyboard's drivers when booting, so they're just disabled. Sometimes it just stops functionning while I'm using them... luckily there is the touchscreen ! I have to go to the driver's section into the parameters, to look for updates (it never finds any), then reboot the computer and it works... for a few hours. There surely must be an update you can do for both touchpad and keyboard, or to the system itself, so it would find them when booting ! This is not only annoying, it's someting that would make me turn my back on Lenovo from now. If you can please help me fix this I would be grateful, thanks !

As the title says, my trackpoint, keyboard backlight and touchpad have stopped working. The problem happened a few weeks after I updated from windows 8.1 to windows 10. I have tried updating ultranav drivers, resetting windows 10 (which was a bit of a pain given that I will now have to reinstall all my software) and then reverting to windows 8.1 after none of the above worked. Fortunately my touchscreen and mouse support is still ok, but I can't work in low light conditions without my keyboard light. Hi, I recently bought an used 910 and thought it was a good idea to return it to Factory Settings. As novo button was not working, I tried using the recovery image (downloaded from Lenovo support site), but it threw an error by the end of its process and Windows was unusable; for some reason lenovo support stated that I wasnt able to download the image again and point me up to download W10 directly. I proceed to download W10 directly and install it without ANY problem, later I installed all the applications/ drivers from:https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ar/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-910-13ikb/download... Now for the problems:* When I fold into tablet mode, tablet mode IS enabled... but keyboard and trackpad are still 100% active.* Accelerometer/ sensors are showing "noise" by Lenovo Diagnostics, this in turn make that when on tablet mode, to be "wacky"... like tablet mode on and off. All of this is specially odd, as prior to formatting tablet mode was working fine... I know, if it is working, do not fix it... but I thought that after buying a laptop to a stranger, it was a good thing to do. Now for the checkups:* YMC (yoga mode control) service is installed and running.* Another post stated about installing OneKey optimizer  and Harmonize, I couldnt find those for Win10.* No missing drivers found on Device Manager... but:   - Keyboard is stated as: Standard PS/2 Keyboard (is this correct?). As you can see there are multiple problems that have come up in this notebook. I recently reinstalled windows 10 to solve some other problems. The installation went perfect and afterward everything seemed to work fine. When my wife turned it on the blue BIOS screen came on (as it did before the installation) and I was unable to use the touchpad, mouse or arrow keys to move the selection. I rebooted and it started up fine only the keyboard did not work. I had to use the onscreen keyboard to log in. Once inside, sometimes the keyboard works and sometimes it doesn't. I've tried using the f6 to toggle the touchpad on but it didn't work. The keyboard is touch and go and now the blue screen BIOS sometimes comes up when the computer is started. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've searched for solutions and haven't been able to find anything that works to solve these problems. I've uninstalled the drivers and rebooted for a fresh re-install of the drivers but that only temporarily fixes the problem. Thank you.

The right and left click on my Yoga 3 11 touchpad has always been a bit flakey but now it very rarely works at all. Other than that everything else seems to work fine. Scrolling, 2 finger scrolling, tap and double tap are good but the physical clicking makes a sound but doesn't activate. But I receive the Code 24 This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24). I am so upset at all the issues I have had with this Yoga, from the bad wifi drivers that kept dropping my wifi and the blue screen of death. Anyone know what I can do to fix this Code 24? Hey everyone, I have one or really two issues, but they may be connected. I bought the Yoga 900 3 months ago and yesterday I found out that the hotkey for disabling the touchpad worked only oneway meaning I pressed it and the touchpad would disable but I couldn't unlock it again no matter how often I pressed the key again (in combination with fn and also without). I needed to go to standby and then log in again for it to be re-enabled. I updated a hotkey driver, and afterwards when I disabled the touchpad with the hotkey it did still not work. So I went into standby and the whole laptop did not react to me pressing the standby/on switch on the right side for like 5 min. It just stayed off with a black screen. After a while it rebooted completely. Ever since then everything works fine except that the hotkey/f6 doesn't do anything now, not even disabling the touchpad. Can anyone help?

I upgraded my yoga 2 pro to windows 10 last night.  I went to the support page and downloaded all new drivers for the thing, in particular the synaptics touch pad drivers.  Before I did that, gesture support was severly limited.  Despite the settings saying it was enabled, two finger tap and scrolling was disabled. In any event, after I got the latest drivers, I discovered the following.. (i define a tap as just a forceful touch, where as a click involves pressing the trackpad until it clicks) single finger tapping workssingle finger clicking works.two finger tapping does not worktwo finger clicking does worktwo finger scrolling worksI suspect most two finger gestures work, but I havent tested them all.three finger gestures workfour finger gestures work basically, everything works as the settings dialogs were configured, except two finger tap.  two finger click works just fine.  Ive got the v19.0.9.5 19May15 synptics driver installed.  The config tool to adjust gestures works, and most of its settings are behaving properly. Just two finger tap is failing. Any thoughts?

I was having responsiveness issues with the trackpad for a while, then, i open my laptop one day and it's completely unresponsive, as well has the backlit keyboard not working (the hotkey still pops up that it's "lighting up" the keyboard, but no actual lights) and the trackpoint being completely unresponsive too. I've tried:- Restarting computer- Using Lenovo's various "fixing" softwares- Looking for a keyboard firmware shortcut for enabling/disabling trackpad, (doesn't exist on this computer)- Re installing drivers (Ultranav driver refuses to install manually, "driver installation failed")- Booting on a non microsoft OS (Booted on a linux Mint installation and it still doesn't work)- Booting into BIOS and looking for "enable/disable trackpad option", That option does not exist for me.- Opening up computer and checking the physical connection, All plugged in fine. When i open the device manager in windows there is no entry for the mouse whatsoever. The touch screen and the pen both work fine. I think it all points towards a hardware issue, i can pick up another trackpad on ebay for pretty cheap, but obviously i'd like to make sure that it would actually solve the issues.  The major confusion for me is that why would faulty trackpad hardware stop the backlit keyboard from lighting up? How are the two linked? Any ideas appreciated, Thanks!
