Q: Error number: 0x80244019

Hi! This is my first time here at Bleeping Computer. I am having 3 different computer problems: 2 of them are on my desktop computer which has Windows XP & 1 is on my laptop which has Windows 7. Here is the first problem. I want to use Windows Update to upgrade from Service Pack 2 to Service Pack 3, but every time I try the update, it says that "the website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view". It also shows it's because of the error number that you see as the title of the post. I've been having this problem for the last week. I am asking for your help.

Preferred Solution: Error number: 0x80244019

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Error number: 0x80244019

You are a couple of years late...to download SP3 via Windows Update...but you can download it manually and install it from your desktop.

MS' words of wisdom can be found here. I've been having problems using Windows Updater lately. I can't be bothered to fix it as I update manually anyway. I start IE, google Windows Update and click the link. May not work for everyone.PS: I read the article and started the Background Intelligent Transfer Service in Automatic and my updater is now running. I suggest you try doing that first rather than going through all the other MS steps. Thanks for your help!!

Good day,

For quite a few weeks now I have had a problem with getting windows update and MSE to... well update . Each time I attempt to do so, they always return with the error 0x80244019. I have been checking on other fourms, and a few users seem to have the same error, but none of the suggestions seem to resolve my issues. For some strange reason, when ever I try to access a page in IE or Chrome it always (no matter what page I attempt to go to) returns with the xampp homepage - and it's not even on! Here is an example with chrome (note the address bar ):

error1.png picture by darestium - Photobucket

And with MSE:

error2.png picture by darestium - Photobucket

And with IE:

error3.png picture by darestium - Photobucket

I also tryed resetting IE by: Internet Options -> Advanced -> Reset. And checking the LAN and proxy settings etc. Which didn't work, I also tryed a command in cmd, which didn't work either (I got it from another page regarding a similar issue) I think it reset the network configurations or something o_O.

So, the only browser I can use is mozilla, and I can't update or anything so, I am really quite annoyed. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated.

Okay I am at wits end.

When I hit send and receive all 3 accounts the User has setup fails to receive anything.

I get the following error -

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'XXXXX', Server: 'XXXXXX', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Now I read a TON of web pages prior to posting so please make sure to read what I have tried before posting a thought on the fix -

I tried everything on this KB - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;813514 except OE reinstall because this is a PC that has OE integrated and to be honest I can't get the account info if I have to wipe it and reload it for another week (but it has to be fixed now)

Basically I have tried the following -
1)Uninstalled AV - No change (even the same socket error number and standard error number).
2) Made a new identity - No change
3) Changed time delay for getting emails up to 5 mins - No change
4) Uninstalled Firewall - No change (even windows firewall is disabled)
5) Checked MTU (it was right also wasn't really thought of as the culprit because all other PC's on the same network get their emails just fine.
6) Tried a system restore but that seems to be fubar as well and none of my old restore points work.

I did do a Hijack This, Ad-Aware, Spybot, Ewido and more scan no prob... Read more

Hello all,

I am using Outlook Express 6, and all was fine until today when I go to check my mail and a window popped up asking for my password (normally doesn't). Anyway, I typed it in and pressed "ok" and the box came up again... typed password again... box came up again... so I clicked "cancel" and got this error message:

"There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'mail.in.com.au', Server: 'mail.in.com.au', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR incorrect password', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92"

All the websites I've checked about this say to go into
accounts --> properties and make sure everything is typed out correctly and to make sure "Secure password authentication" isn't checked, which it wasn't and everything was typed fine since I hadn't been fooling around in there... I tried checking my mail again and still get the password box and it still won't accept my password.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

A:OE won't accept my password (Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92)

That is also a standard error message you get when your mail server (ISP problem) is not operating correctly. There is little you can do if that is the case, just wait for the ISP to correct the problem at their end.

Contact them in any regards, and see if they are aware of the problem.
http://www.in.com.au/techelp/config/olookex5.htm is the link to your ISPs support for configuring OE correctly. You can also check to see if they make your POP mails accessible through their site.

There is no "Help" or any other tab that shows how to seek help and post a new message about the problem; but all I can see are my last messages/problems, which have been solved by Cybertech, and now I have a new problem but don't know how/where to post it.

Moreover, since my last problem was solved, I clicked on the " Mark Solved" tab, but my thread/post did not show that my problem was solved, so that other readers may see it and avail of the help given to me.

And, like this message that I am sending now. There is a box headed "Title".
So whose name should I put there? My name? I should have thought that all messages went to moderators.

At the bottoms of this message box, there is another box 'Tags" and 'Trackback'. I dont know what these are! Where do I look up info about these?

Hi, I have looked at all the different discussion threads and tried almost every single suggestion made but still have'nt had any luck so far.
I can receive email but can't send any. What triggered this error is that, I recently moved from London to New York and I am now using a different ISP to connect to the internet. But my old setting should work (since it has worked in the past when I logged in from hotel or other locations using different ISPs.)

I have tried changing the port numbers etc, but I keep getting back this error message.

"The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Test', Account: 'O2 Email', Server: 'smtp.o2.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E"

Any help will be much appreciated.

Socket error 10065 from Outlook Express
Hi, for the last few days we have been receiving "The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'Joint French', Server: 'pop.orange.fr', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10065, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E" from Outlook Express.

I have :
- run a full Norton system scan - no viruses found
- run a disc cleanup via Start programs, accessories, system tools, disc cleanup
- run a Norton registry cleanup - same problem
- tried uninstalling Outlook and then found a posting that says you cant physically uninstall and reinstall outlook

Google chrome is working ok and I can get to the messages via Chrome but am having no luck getting outlook to send and receive mail.

Internet search implies it may be a broekn registry entry but is there a recommended registry cleanup took and/or can you suggest anything else I can try?

Much appreciated

A:Solved: Socket Error: 10065, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Just for completeness - I found the cause of the error was nothing to do with ports. We use an application called Peerblock which prevent our PC sending information to third parties (telecoms companies, educations institutions, etc.) This uses lists from www.iblocklist.com and one list in particular (the bogon list) would seem to contain an IP address which conflicts with a combination of Orange.fr and Outlook express requirements and so prevents Outlook working.

I am unable to send through my msn account; which is a drag to forward something that came in that mailbox. I get the error: Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E. This error does not happen when I am forwarding or sending in one of my other email addresses. The solution that I have seen posted states it is a problem when you have "call waiting" on your line. Since my puter is on the same cable as my phone, I need to have phone usage, call waiting, and puter use all at the same time. This has been an on and off issue since Windows Live took over my old Outlook Express. Without moving messages from the msn account to another email, is there a better way?

A:Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E usually means there is a problem connecting to the server or the connection is timing out.
You can try to ping your SMTP server.
Go to start - run - type "ping MSN smtp SERVER" (where MSN smtp SERVER is your smtp server you are using in outlook express for your MSN account).
Let me know if you get a reply or not.

Your firewall (if you have one) might also be interfering? Try turning them off temporarily.
You might be using the wrong port to send emails?
Lastly you have to authenticate to the SMTP server and you might not be doing that?

Hi, markh, and welcome to the forums.

The error code you're receiving indicates that you are connecting to the server, but the server is unable to find your mailbox. See Understanding SMTP error codes - April 30th, 2003 and SMTP reply codes - and that indicates that there may be some server -related issues. have you called them up to find out about your account?

First of all, I thank you for your attention.

I cannot perform any "Windows update" issue since the 23/08/2016.

Each time I reach the "Windows Update" screen, I get the following error message :

In french : "Redémarrer l'ordinateur pour installer d'importantes mises à jour"

In english: "Restart the computer to install importante updates"

Then, after rebooting, nothing change.

After further investigations, I get the following error message:

In French : "windows update ne peut pas actuellement rechercher des mises à jour car vous devez tout d'abord redémarrer votre ordinateur afin de terminer l'installation précédente."

In English : "windows update cannot research update because you must first restart your computer in order to finish the previous installation".

Then, I've recreated a new catalog by executing these commands:

net stop wuauserv

ren %windir%\SoftwareDistribution SoftDist.old

net start wuauserv

Now all services are running but I still cannot perform updates.

Here's a link to a description of the error message: http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.php#0x21aAs you can see, it's related to security on your system. From what I've seen, this is most commonly due to viruses or system corruption. Did your scans find anything and did it remove them? If so, what did you use to scan and what did it remove? This could also be due to the improper removal of malware (which causes system corruption).I'd first consider if your virus scan/spyware scans were effective. If there's any doubt at all, try this free online scan: http://safety.live.com/ Choose the "Full Service Scan" and let it fix whatever it finds. If that doesn't fix it, then I'd try SFC.EXE /SCANNOW from the Run dialog. Please read this mini-guide prior to running it: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/43051/how-to-use-sfcexe-to-repair-system-files/

I am having trouble while installing a program called "M1" which is a production/manufacturing software package. This software works fine on XP but am having trouble getting it to make friends with Win7 Pro. It gives me the following error:

Error number 5 occurred while registering

So I register the dll by going to:
regsvr32 c:\users\jason\m1\TOOLS\Crystal\WinNT\atl.dll
and it gives me a registered successfully message.
It then tries to run the program and puts me in a loop, telling me that Error number 5 has occurred.

I cannot send email. This just started today. When I attempted to send a couple of pictures to a friend I got the error message below. I tried several times with the same results. I have RoadRunner with Time Warner and I called them as they are my ISP. We checked and rechecked the email setup and everything is correct. I called Dell as I have a Dell XPS 420 with Vista Operating system. Waited an hour on hold and finally gave up and started research myself to no avail. Perhaps someone may have an answer for me. Thanks

I am currently using Windows Mail on Windows Vista and i am getting the below error message. I have tested the content of the e mail by sending it to myself and it works fine. The only difference is that i am trying to do a mail shot and i created 2 distribution list, the fist only has a couple of e mail addresses and was able to send to that fine, but the other DL has 6,000 contacts. I was able to create the DL without any warning over "too many contacts in distribution list". But i feel this is the only difference and must be the problem, but could be very wrong.

First a health warning - you will be helping a geriatric user who could well qualify for 'non-techy of the year' award! (and never used Tech Guys before).

I have searched past discussions but cannot spot anything identical to my query.

I use two laptops succesfully for sending and receiving emails at my home. (WiFi; ISP Talktalk;Windows Vista/XP Professional. I can also access the internet without problems.

My difficulty is when i go to France (I haven't tried anywhere else). I can (WiFi) successfully use the internet; I can also use my ISP (talktalk) webmail service to send and receive emails; and I can successfully receive my emails.

What I cannot do is send emails other than by using webmail. If I 'send/receive' the ''receive' works but the 'send' generates a message "Connection to the server failed. Server smtp.talktalk.net. Protocol SMTP, Port 25 Secure (SSL) No Socket Error 10060 Error Number 0x800CCCOE".

This is not life threatening but is frustrating as I usually need to be accessing my stored messages when preparing to 'send'

Have I made sense - and thankyou for your tolerance and understanding!

I'm setting this computer up for the boss.. I previously had a MSOE.DLL error that was resolved by running a WM utility to repair the program.
This is a Vista32bit laptop, nothing special. The only antivirus/firewall/etc is Windows Defender and I have it entirely disabled at the moment.

I have tried outgoing ports 587, 910?, and 25.
Under the Advanced tab of Properties, I have checked and unchecked "This sever requires a secure connection (SSL)" on outgoing and incoming and every combination of the two to see if something different happens, same error message except...

Right now outgoing is checked because when it is unchecked I am asked to sign in to my preschools.net account and it won't accept any preschools.net account/password that I think are supposed to work. For example doris @preschools.net, which is the account name. Is this what is supposed to be entered here?

And this may be the source of my problem...
The other possibility is that I am not using the correct outgoing mail server..
In tools/accounts/ preschools.net properties/servers I know that outgoing mail requires authentication because when it's unchecked I get an error message saying that it could not be sent because it requires authenti... Read more

You will have to give more info, because "any thing works" and "the last bit" is just vague.

Is this during install of the broadband, during operation or??

Presumably you refer to the Spanish broadband supplier?

128 Meg Ram, 1.44 Stiffy Drive

20 Gig WD Hard Drive

I set it up on the network, have double checked dns settings etc. Can connect fine to the internet (other than being very slow) but when I try downloading mail it worked a few times and then started with the following error message.

When I try to upload something to a site that I frequently send uploads to without a problem I get the message:"Error Number 10053 - Connection is aborted due to timeout or other failure. Probably temporary fault and should try again later. "

I've tried many times since yesterday morning when the problem started, have restarted my computer and disconnected/reconnected my internet connection but still have the problem.

I sent a message to the website and no one else appears to have the problem - so assume it is a problem my end. Does anyone have any suggestions of what might be wrong and how to fix it.

I am using Windows 7 and recently tried uninstalling Peachtree Quantum 2011. I want to reinstall but it keeps telling me Peachtree can only be installed once on a pc. When I try and uninstall the following message comes up Error Number: 0x80040702 Failed to load DLL: InstallUti. Anyone know what I need to do to get rid of this message and be allowed to install Peachtree again?

A:Error Number: 0x80040702

Did the software uninstall successfully? Was the folder it was in also removed? Uninstalls sometimes leave the folder and sub folders that the programs was in. Use windows explorer to find the folders and delete them. I found this post elsewhere.

"At times, you may encounter a fatal error 0x80040702 message when you try to reinstall a program on your computer.
This error usually occurs when some files or entries of the program get left behind when you uninstalled it earlier.
To rectify the error, use the Search feature to locate and delete any files of this program still present on your system. Next, perform a registry scan using a reliable registry cleaning software, such as RegGenie, to get rid of the leftover entries. Now, proceed with the installation.
At times, the Add or Remove Programs utility in Windows is unable to ensure complete program removal. This is why the use of an efficient program uninstaller tool, such as Perfect Uninstaller, is highly recommended."

What Could I to make solve for this situation?

A:Error Number 0x80040708

It appears that once you add something to the default Access Permissions, you cannot just delete it and get back to the same state.

I took a machine that the InstallShield project ran on just fine, added something to the default permissions, the project failed to run, deleted what I had just added, and the project still failed to run.
