Q: thinkpad yoga touchpad right click does not work

Hey guys, today I've got my new Thinkpad Yoga and it's really nice but I don't know if it's the driver or the touchpad it self. I can't push the right mouse button. Whether I use the double tab nor the right corner (at the top or bottom), nothing happens. left click works fine, but only if I activate the on tab option. Already tried to uninstall the driver and reinstallt the new version from the website nothing changed. And sometimes the touchpad and the trackpoint don't work at all. I'm using Windows 8.1 x64. Thanks for your help! lg

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I've recognized something. Sometimes when I use a "click" function of the touchpad a small touchpad icon appears on the notification area. But you can see it only a short time. I think it is definitely a driver issue. Am I the only one?

I was having responsiveness issues with the trackpad for a while, then, i open my laptop one day and it's completely unresponsive, as well has the backlit keyboard not working (the hotkey still pops up that it's "lighting up" the keyboard, but no actual lights) and the trackpoint being completely unresponsive too. I've tried:- Restarting computer- Using Lenovo's various "fixing" softwares- Looking for a keyboard firmware shortcut for enabling/disabling trackpad, (doesn't exist on this computer)- Re installing drivers (Ultranav driver refuses to install manually, "driver installation failed")- Booting on a non microsoft OS (Booted on a linux Mint installation and it still doesn't work)- Booting into BIOS and looking for "enable/disable trackpad option", That option does not exist for me.- Opening up computer and checking the physical connection, All plugged in fine. When i open the device manager in windows there is no entry for the mouse whatsoever. The touch screen and the pen both work fine. I think it all points towards a hardware issue, i can pick up another trackpad on ebay for pretty cheap, but obviously i'd like to make sure that it would actually solve the issues.  The major confusion for me is that why would faulty trackpad hardware stop the backlit keyboard from lighting up? How are the two linked? Any ideas appreciated, Thanks!

I got a ThinkPad T430 yesterday and have been enjoying setting everything up, installing all of my software, and tweaking every last setting to my personal preference. I've got almost everything set up the way I like it, but there's one big problem left. I cannot for the life of me find the option to enable right-click or middle-click using the touchpad. In my experience, when using standard laptop touchpads, you're generally able to right-click and middle-click using a two finger tap or three finger tap. Neither of these options work on my laptop. I have downloaded the Lenovo System Update software, which in turn updated all of my drivers. This includes my touchpad driver, so everything seems to be in order in that regard. However, I've gone through every option in the touchpad settings and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I've included a screenshot of the touchpad settings, so if any of you can point me towards which option I'll need to explore in order to enable right-click and middle-click taps, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello... I have a Lenovo Thinkpad W500, purchased some years ago. It was running Windows 7 Pro. Any discs that might have come with it are long lost. I made the disastrous decision to upgrade to Windows 10. To do this, I used "Create Windows 10 installation media" from this this link. I put it on a USB flash drive, configured my W500 BIOS to load from "USB HDD" first, and proceeded.  After several attempts, it finally managed to load what appears to be Windows 10 (clean install w/o Product Key, for now) to the point where I gave it my Micosoft ID and it even loaded the correct wallpaper photo, etc, and there was a Taskbar which briefly appeared before hiding. But after that, nothing... integrated mouse touchpad unresponsive (in fact, no arrow pointer on screen at all).  I know the mouse pad is working, because if I insert the "W10 installation media" flash drive, I can select "Repair PC" instead of "Install W10" can then get a command prompt (with a arrow pointer that moves around). But none of the other options seem to work (it detects none of my W7 recovery partitions, W7 Restore points... nothing. Startup repair reports back nothing. I don't think I am eligible for Lenovo Recovery Media, as the eligibility page does not recognize my Thinkpad S/N. At this point, I'd be happy to just re-install W7 (I have a valid Product Key), but I can't even "Submit digital download recovery order" since Lenovo won't recognize my S/N. The right and left click on my Yoga 3 11 touchpad has always been a bit flakey but now it very rarely works at all. Other than that everything else seems to work fine. Scrolling, 2 finger scrolling, tap and double tap are good but the physical clicking makes a sound but doesn't activate. I've done a complete restore to factory Windows 8.1 and just upgraded to Windows 10 Anniversary but still the same problem both for 8.1 and 10. I've looked for a replacement trackpad but can't find one specific to the Yoga 3 11. Does anyone know if another model eg Yoga 2 11 would work or where I could get one?  I also have a Miix 700 which is a tremendous piece of kit but sadly the Yoga 3 11 has been terrible with the CPU throttling and the dodgy trackpad. Any help or advice gratefully accepted. Thanks

Hi there, I just received my new Yoga 920. Unfortunately, the right click does not work on the touchpad. I can use the two finger tap on the touchpad to right click, but it doesn't work to just click the bottom right of the touchpad, even though that function is enabled. I can't click on the touchpad to scroll or drag things either. I have updated everything, including drivers, BIOS, Windows, etc. but could use some more ideas, because nothing has helped. Thanks!

Can anyone please help me walk through fixing this?

When I input something with my keyboard, the touchpad/trackpoint doesn't accept any clicking for about ~0.5 seconds. Its a small delay but it is driving me insane. T460 laptop, Synaptics Clickpad V1.1 Things I've tried:-  Reinstalling drivers, and restarting laptop. Nothing changed.-  Turned palm rejection to minimum. This fixes an earlier problem where the mouse would stop moving with keyboard presses, but it doesn't affect the clicking delay.-  Went into the registry editor, found 'synaptics' under 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' but couldn't find any variables that indicate a delay after keyboard presses. I'd really appreciate any help with this. ~3 hours of googling isn't helping me. Thanks in advance.

It's difficult to explain but inexplicably annoying...........if you press it down hard and engage the left click button it may disappear for a while but soon comes back......Anyone else suffer from this? Seem to notice it more when keyboard vertical E.g when using in bed...... Thanks Steve

Mine was the same since new.. Just fixed it and its really simple. Unscrew the back & carefully remove,Unplug and remove the battery (5? screws careful not to overtighten on reassemly, plastic holes are weak)Unscrew and remove the touchpad (6 screws)Get some alcohol (IPA) (Isopropanol Alchohol, not Indian Pale Ale) on a cotton bud and wipe the sticky adhesive that has crept out from underneath the 2 tiny black plastic pads that are stuck to the stainless steel metalwork (on the touch pad).  Ironically, i suspect these pads are there to stop the sheet metal from "clacking" against the case metalwork casting when you let go of the TP, unfortunately the adhesive has leached round to the front of the pad and makes a nasty smacking noise everytime you put the lightest of pressure ont he TP. picture some goop between your thumb and forfinger and the noise it makes when you try and separate them. hope this helps, it was driving me bonkers.

Hello, im trying to figure out, how to enable 3 finger tap for a middle mouse click on my yoga 720 15. There are some solutions out there suggesting editing the registry, but i don't have the entries they name and no other entries, that could be related to the touchpad for that matter. The device manager lists the touchpad simply as "hid-compatible touchpad" with no further information. I even tried installing the synaptics software on the off chance, that that would work, but it said, that no synaptic device was detected. I can switch the 3 finger tap from opening cortana to opening the info center, to doing nothing, but thats it. Can anyone help me? regards Sebastian

As the title says, my trackpoint, keyboard backlight and touchpad have stopped working. The problem happened a few weeks after I updated from windows 8.1 to windows 10. I have tried updating ultranav drivers, resetting windows 10 (which was a bit of a pain given that I will now have to reinstall all my software) and then reverting to windows 8.1 after none of the above worked. Fortunately my touchscreen and mouse support is still ok, but I can't work in low light conditions without my keyboard light. Can anyone help? I see that some Yoga 12 users report similar problems after a fuse fails. Does anyone know if this occurs on the S1 Yoga?

Hey everyone, I've upgraded my ThinkPad Yoga S1 (20CD) to Windows 10. I was up to build 1607 before I started encountering issues with the onboard keyboard and touchpad losing power once the laptop gets past the BIOS load screen. Once into Windows, the fn key seems to still function, but nothing after that. Here's what I've done so far for troubleshooting:Verified drivers are current from Lenovo System Updater and support website (all drivers and BIOS are current).Checked the manufacturer's website for newer drivers for the keyboard and mouse.Brought Windows 10 up to current version 1809.Clean boot for Windows.Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers.Ran hardware troublshooting tools for keyboard and mouse.Removed the screw near the audio jack as I had read on some forums that the pressue was messing with the sensor near there.Checked the ribbon cables on the motherboard to verify they are seated correctly.Disabled sensor services (this seemed to work for a bit on Windows 1709).Tried running start up repair.Ran sfc/scannow. I'm running out of ideas, other than to go back to Windows 8, but I'd really rather not. Any suggestions/items to try that I'm missing?

I have a ThinkPad Yoga S1 with a clean and up-to-date installation of Windows 10 Pro. Synaptics driver version 19.0.17.27 is installed.Two-finger touchpad scrolling rarely works in several UWP/Metro apps such as Calendar and Groove Music. When I attempt to scroll, a little crosshair appears on the screen and moves up and down instead of moving the page. Every once in a while it actually does scroll, but only at random and immediatey stops working again.Strangely enough, if the UWP window is in the background behind another window and isn't currently in focus, two-finger scrolling works fine. Non-UWP/Metro applications do not seem to be affected by this problem.Any help would be greatly appreciated.-gyokuroEDIT: I found a temporary workaround right after I posted this that doesn't fix the issue, but at least makes it less of an annoyance until this is fixed. If you click on the taskbar and then try to scroll in a UWP app, it works fine, and the tiny crosshair doesn't appear either.

This is meant as a bug report. Hopefully someone from Lenovo is reading this. I have a ThinkPad Yoga X1 (1st gen). A few days ago, the System Update utility updated the touchpad driver to version 19.3.4.119. I'm having 2 issues: 1) I do not use my touchpad and therefore disable it. However, every time my machine comes out of sleep or reboots, the touchpad is re-enabled. I disable it "correctly" by going to (Start Menu) -> (Mouse Settings) -> (Additional Mouse Options) -> (ThinkPad tab) -> Uncheck "Enable touchpad".  2) If I enable the touchpad and click the settings button next to "Enable touchpad", the Synaptics Control Panel window appears. This window is very unresponsive. And when I click on the "Click" tab, I get repeated errors that "The parameter value is invalid."  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver to no avail. I cannot find an older version of the driver at Lenovo's website. Please fix.

I just got my X1 Yoga yesterday, and for the most part it's quite nice.  I've got a bit of an issue with the touchpad though.  Has anybody else noticed that it's a bit "floaty"?  With just the slightest touch (i.e. even less weight than typical usage), the whole touchpad surface will sink maybe 1mm or less, until it's flush with the bottom groove.  When I let my finger up, the touchpad surface will bounce back until it's flush with the palm rest.  When it does this, it produces a slight "thunk" and sounds as if the entire palm rest is making a clicking sound.  I'm not talking about when I press down to click either -- that works as expected.  Is this supposed to be normal?  I use an E450 thinkpad at work, and the touchpad surface is rock solid and does not shift position. I took a video to illustrate what I mean and attached it here in the zip file (since a mp4 file is not a supported file format for uploading)

I am running the latest drivers from Lenovo's website and I have noticed that after a while (possibly after putting my computer to sleep and waking it up again), the ETD Control Center (which must be running in order to have full touchpad functionality) will constantly use ~30% CPU. This obviously impacts battery life, but it also makes my laptop produce more heat and noise than it would otherwise, while running slower. It is undesirable behavior. I have already tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them, running the older version, or running the newer version. Nothing helps. Whenever this software is running, it does not take long before it is thrashing my CPU. Currently I am running the latest version of the software that is available on Lenovo's website, and I have updated everything possible using Lenovo's update software. I am running windows 10 and have the Elan touchpad drivers installed. Another problem with the touchpad is, that is that the front area is much more insensitive to tapping than the back. But also clicking is not possible in that area because the touchpad can only tilt to the back and so the force is to high to click in the front. In summary that means the buttons are broken and tapping is broken. So the touchpad is completely screwed up and useless. What a piece of ... Laptop. What a shame for a Thinkpad. If the touchpad works (not defective), and only started the behavior since moving to 10, then I would guess it is a problem with the touchpad driver.

It could be due to the wrong driver being installed, a corrupted driver installation, or a driver conflict.
Since the generic Windows 10 touchpad driver seems to work well with Synaptics hardware for most folks, we can start with a bad driver install.

The first thing to try is to go into Device Manager and uninstall the touchpad. If asked to remove the driver also, do so. Then restart the laptop and the touchpad will be reinstalled with the same driver. Test.

Otherwise, go to the laptop manufacturer's website and find the most recent driver offered there for your touchpad. Try and install that driver and test.

A:ThinkPad Yoga 260 TouchPad stays disabled after tablet-mode

Hi

I was not able to find anything interesting on the support site of your model:
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...

I checked the change on the ELAN drivers from 12/1/2016, but it does not says anything about the touchpad not recovering from tablet mode.

If you already installed this driver and didn't work, I don't have more ideas about it.

Regards
