Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro 1370 battery/charging problem

Q: Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro 1370 battery/charging problem

Mfg date for this laptop is Oct 2014, Windows 10 OS. About a month back battery power was about 25% when I plugged charger in. the screen became brighter, means it was charging. Suddenly the computer shut down and though charger was connected, the charging light went off. Thereafter the computer did not turn on either with charger or without. Even the charging light did not turn on. Changed the charger as well as cable but neither charging indicator turned on nor computer turned on. It was like battery fully down and charger not connected. Took it to Lenovo service center and they made it alright and told me that they had disconnected the battery and reconnected. The power left in the battery was still 25%. Exactly same thing happened once again yesterday and I disconnected the battery and reconnected and it worked. Since it happened second time, whatever the problem may be, was not solved permanently by above procedure. Can someone help what could be the reason and how to solve it permanently?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My laptop suddenly stopped charging. I've checked the adapter, it still provides the USB power to charge my mobile phone. I can also charge my phone from the residual charge in the battery. So the remaining possibilities are that the charger isn't producing 20V power, the wire has gone bad or there's a problem within the laptop.  The replacement charger costs a pretty penny and will take time. Is there any way of checking if the wire or the charger block are working or not ? The alternative of taking it to Lenovo sucks, can't work for a while. ThanksRahul

A:Lenovo Yoga Pro 3 1370 not charging

First, is it still under warranty? Many are.   If it is, call support.   Do you know anyone with another machine where you can borrow an adapter?  The Yoga 700 and Yoga 900 use the same sort of plug except they have a max power draw of 65W.  The 700 and 900 don't work right on the Y. 3 pro's 40-w adapter, but your machine is OK with the larger one.  I looked at the adapter and the power cord and  it would be difficult to test the output with a meter, without shorting something out.  I have all sorts of tools and meters, and I takeapart and fix machines, so if it were mine, I would open the machine and pick up the input leads from inside and test with a meter.  If you are not comfortable doing that kind of thing, don't risk making it worse.  DON'T OPEN UP AND WORK ON A MACHINE THAT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.

I just received my Yoga 3 Pro-1370 Laptop from the Lenova Repair Center - this was the 2nd service request for the battery issue.  The laptop battery still does not charge when the AC adapter is plugged into an electrical outlet.  Sometimes the charging indicator light will indicate that it is charging - but charges 10 - 15 seconds and goes off.  Confirmed the battery is not charging even though the light is not on just to be sure the issue is not with the power indicator light.  At this point the Lenova Repair Center has had possession of my laptop longer than I have in 2017.  Not sure where to turn to, Call Center/Support seems to be encountering problems and can't log a Service Call?   Seriously, I was asked to schedule a call for them to call me when their systems are up?  Laptop is under warranty, but I'm beginning to think they are trying to run out the clock. I'm typing fast - as Battery Life is below 10%   Any and all suggestions are welcomed.Regards.

The battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery after it was calibrated using one key. Before that, the battery was working perfectly, lasting close to 5 hours. Now the laptop shuts off when unplugged and the battery status is constantly changing. I've had this laptop for approximately a year now and it was unused and left in an unopened box for the first 8 months.

Hello everyone, My Y3P 1370 works like for a week plugged to charger and it charges but suddenly and out of nowhere, it stops charging the battery while windows still reports the charger is connected and charging. However it just doesn't. After a while the laptop dies on me and doesn't boot at all. The charger indicator is flashing red and the power button has the white led on state at the moment. I found a solution to my issue by removing the backplate and disconnecting the battery flex from the motherboard. Turning on pc without the battery. It boots fine. Turn it off and reconnect battery flex to motherboard, laptop starts charging and running properly. I have been having this issue for a very long time and i really need a permanent solution for it. Thank you so much for your time and help.

The port on my Yoga has been acting up for a few weeks.  It was acting like the charging port was loose.  However, as of last night, it does not see that the charging cord is plugged in at all.  However, it is actually charging a tiny bit, very slowly.  I already attempted to discharge any static and this didn't make any difference.  The regular USB ports seem to be having some trouble recognizing that something is plugged in as well.   Definitely not too happy with the charging system on this computer.  I have already had to replace the USB cord which just stopped working about a year ago. Any suggestions?

That's normal. Windows 10 has a mechanism to protect battery from lowering its capacity. It will start charging when battery level will be less than for example 90%.

I am facing lots of problem with my new Lenovo Yoga 730 . Almost everyday, I get "Battery Plugged in and not charging" and after lots of manuvers ( reinstalling drivers, restarting, replugging and sometimes praying...) it begins charging. I don't know what works but the problem resolves itself for a day and it occurs again . I have been dealing with this for 2 weeks now.  When I take the charging cable off and replug it, it charges for exactly 5 seconds and goes back to "Not charging". My laptop is new (Bought in September this year). I have also got remote assistance for this problem, even reinstalled Windows.  Someone suggested me to buy a new cable. My cable looks good to me, it is not even bent at any place.  Is the laptop faulty? I have never faced so many problems with a new laptop. Please help. Thanks

Does one have a multimeter at hand? My first area to troubleshoot would be checking the charger tip for accurate voltage and if that shows good I would follow up with the actual charge port in the laptop (may be janked-up/broken).If one can boot to OS: Go into device manager and uninstall all battery related "drivers" and reboot... may give joy?

Hi!My Yoga 500-15ISK Laptop seems to have a battery issue. For some time now, whenever I plug my laptop into the AC power, I get this message, e.g. "(% charge) available, (plugged in, charging)", however for some reason, the battery level actually stays the same even after a significant amount of time of being plugged in to the AC supply. Moreover, the battery icon initially shows the animated one which indicates charging is indeed in progress, then after a few moments, it will freeze on the estimated level. Before this, my laptop's battery usually charges relatively quickly. Also, I have not turned on the Conservation Mode so it must charged up beyond 50-60% especially if I leave it plugged in overnight. This issue is really bewildering me right now. Any comments or suggestions on how I can address this issue? Thanks!Other notes re my laptop:It's been around 10 months since I've bought it and I have encountered this issue only a few days ago.I have no other issues with it.

So this whole conundrum started with something getting stuck in the fan. As far as I could tell, you had to remove the motherboard to get to the fans so I took apart the whole laptop and put it back together. It worked fine for a day, but then it stopped charging (still works while plugged in) and now the speakers don't work. Only thing that makes sense to me is that it's the motherboard, but I don't really understand why. Any thoughts/ideas?

No Effect. 2) Open up the backside, remove the battery cable (and battery), remove the power cable, and power discharge by pressing the power button. Turn on the laptop using just the Power cable. No Effect. 3) Remove the heatsink, clean it and then reapply the Thermal paste. No Effect. 4) Remove the hard disk and then try turning on. No Effect.  Despite trying all these steps, the effect is still the same. I honestly do not ahve any idea what to do now. Can anyone suggest something?  Any help would be appreciated!Thank You!

I am using a Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro 1370 running Windows 10. The touchscreen never fails to work but the touchpad however causes a lot of problems. It will randomly stop working when I am using it, often when opening my laptop or when right clicking, but often without any apparent cause as well. One temporary method I have found that somtimes fixes the issue is to go into the HIDs in Device Manager and disable/re-enable the 9CE1 I2C HID Device. Sometimes this option will have a yellow triangle indicating that the device will not start and display this message in the driver properties: This device cannot start. (Code 10)A request for the HID descriptor failed. Other times however there is no acknowledgement of driver issues and attempting to enable the devie will cause the device manager to not respond, restarting my PC in recovery mode after a "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE" message and wiping my recent files. I have tried everything from uninstalling/reinstalling the driver, updating the BIOS and disabling the driver to boot in safe mode. When updating the driver software through the device manager, it says the latest version is installed: The driver version is 10.0.10586.0, it says it is from 2006-06-21. Has anyone else had this issue before with their Yoga? Hi All, So I've had this aesthetically pleasing yoga 3 pro for about a month with the purpose for it to be used as a Uni Laptop.  However I've come across a few issues that I am hoping I can get some help with. Firstly, I've lost all ability to use the touchscreen. Windows Device Managers is seeing it, but I have no way to enable/disable or test. Is there something I am missing? Secodly, through basic use I am finding the CPU and RAM usage well in excess of 80% for a lot of the time, with the system coming to a near grinding halt if I have approximately a dozen chrome tabs open, a couple of office docs and youtube or spotify running....this is a little worrying. Specification wise the laptop should be able to run the with very little hassle. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi All - my laptop is approximately a year old and in relatively good condition. However, a few days ago a loud mechanical sound began coming from the right side of the laptop which I think must be coming from the fan but I'm really unsure. It sounds sort of like an engine running and is much louder than the typical sounds of the computer, and only goes away when tilting the computer 45 degrees to the left. Hi there, A few weeks back I noticed that neither of my USB ports nor my SD card port were working on my laptop. Tried multiple USB sticks/SD cards and none work, so I know its an issue with the ports themselves. I have tried updating drivers and everything is up to date, and the system says they are working correctly. Ocassionally a message will pop up on screen saying "A USB device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port", but I don't have anything in the ports. This makes me think this is potentially a HW issue, not a SW one, but before I make that call it would be great to get some advice as to what I can do! Thanks!

I bought this Lenovo in November 2015. I have found that it operates really slowly ie. when I open a new tab for internet or open another program, it takes a while falsoor anything to open. Also, it gets really hot around the hinge area so Im not sure if this affects performance.I contacted Lenovo about how hot the Yoga was getting and was told that this slimline model does not have a fan so will get hotter than older style laptops.I chose this model to replace the U330 touch (which worked  fine but had a problem with so John Lewis repalced it with this model).Another issue I have with this model is the battery life seems so short. The U330 Touch lasted mcuh longer, so I keep this one contatcly charging (as advised by Lenovo representative). Why does this Lenvo operate so slowly?  Ive done a wifi speed check and its around 50mbs.Another complaint is the volume is extremely low at maximum, so you can only wwatch a film with headphones to get any decent sound volume. Can anyone help with these issues or is the laptop just not very good. Many thanks.

If I disable the Broadcom Network adapter in the device manager everything is fine and can move my screen without problems. Once I enable it BOOM ! I have posted this on other forum, and was able to get some relief (for 24h...) by doing the following: 1) I uninstalled the Broadcom driver and also checked the box ?delete the driver software for this device?2) I double clicked on the latest driver (4abe02af) and followed the instructions3) BUT at a certain point during the re-installation it asked me if I wanted to ?uninstall? the driver which I found strange as I had already uninstalled it from the device manager, so I clicked yes and it said ?uninstall complete? or something similar4) Out of curiosity I launched again the installation of new driver, and this time it installed without asking me whether I would uninstall it5) Rebooted the system, the problem disappeared for about 24h, then re-surface and still on.  So I am now facing again the old problem. One suggestion..... I'm wondering after you straightened out the driver problem if Windows 10 didn't automatically reinstall the problem driver back again.  Windows 10 is good for giving driver updates whether you want them or not.  Try turning off the auto driver updates, reinstall the new driver and then see if that makes a difference.  This article will explain how to stop the auto updates of drivers......

Also after decrease to %0 and  when I plug in the electricity, it wouldn't let me open computer at least 10-15 minutes. Then I started to search solutions. Hello, I got the Lenovo ideapad 110 near a month ago, I liked it a lot, until many problems started happening and it ticked me off a lot. The main problem with this computer is the battery life. I looked up what the average battery life for this computer was, it said approximately 3 to 4 hours. And it is hard to believe that because at fully charged, the battery life says it is 2 hours, but runs out quicker than that. The charging speed, I was at 0% with this computer, and it said that to be at fully charged, it would have to take nearly 3 hours! What??? I researched online if there was any way to replace a more long-lasting battery or to see if there are some ways to save/improve the battery life. What I got were ways to save more battery, but none of it worked, they don't make a difference. Lowering the brightness, probably only saves 5 minutes of your battery, and that's the most I could really do (out of all the ways showed in the support page), since I never use bluetooth, etc. Really need some help, would really appreciate some better ways to saving more of the battery, or if there is a way to replace the battery in this computer with a bigger life. But I strongly dislike the problems with most Lenovo computers, thinking of returning/exchaniging it. Thanks for your time.

Hello there,I have a 14-inch Lenovo Yoga 500, and it seemed to be working perfectly fine until now, since the charging port is literally unusuable. To begin with, the issue was very minor and turning the cable around or moving it would fix the problem. However, as time went on, it became harder for me to plug the charging cable, because the laptop wouldn't respond. After a while, I realised that there was a sweet spot and I managed to cope with that, but the laptop would still cycle between charging and not charging which meant that the laptop was charging at a slower rate. Unfortunately, now it has become impossible for me to use my laptop, because I have to spend a lot of time playing with the cable in order to get my laptop charged, but the problem was that even the SLIGHTEST touch would interrupt the flow and the laptop would shut down. Now I think that there isn't a way that I can adapt to this situation, because it keeps getting worse... I read online and some people said that Lenovo can change the motherboard if the laptop is still in warranty, which unfortunately isn't the case here. So now, I'm quite stuck and unsure of what to do. I really would appreciate any help towards my problem and if you can tell me how much it would cost to change the motherboard, or fix it by an easier or more efficient way. Thanks for any help in advice,Koce.EDIT: I have also tried out different cables, but the result was the same.

I bought lenovo y500 two days ago in INDIA.  In the lenovo energy management system 8.0, I found a battery calibration option and decided to do it.  The steps mentioned there were as follows. 1. Full charge2. Full discharge  The process performed full charging followed by complete discharge of the battery which caused the laptop to shut down.   When I tried turning on my laptop, it could not start.  The battery charging indicator LED wasnt switched on even though the power cord was inserted into the laptop.  I could start the laptop only after removing the battery.   Once the laptop was on, I inserted the battery back in and it began to charge.  After about 50% of charging, I removed the power cord and inserted it again.  Now the battery couldnt resume charging.  I again had to shut down the laptop and repeat the above steps of inserting battery after switching on the laptop without battery.  Only then the battery would resume charging. After this, I decided to allow the battery to charge to 100%. But, the charging remained stuck at 99% and could not fully charge the battery.  When I removed and reinserted the power cord, the same problem persisted of battery not resuming charging. Please help me with this problem.  I read on few forums about uninstalling microsoft ACPI which supposedly solves this issue.  However, ACPI returns back after I restart my laptop.I also tried switch... A:LENOVO Y500 BATTERY NOT CHARGING AFTER USING LENOVO'S BATTERY GAUGE CALIBRATION

ADMIN Edit - While the original post below is marked as the solution, because service will be required if the battery will no longer charge after performing a battery reset, I am adding a Lenovo update here to confirm.   Normal operation will allow the battery to relearn its capacity characteristics when using the battery reset function.  Typically this is not needed in normal use..   Batteries are equipped with a safety feature that will permanently disconnect them (like a fuse) if cell imbalance or an internal short is detected.   This tends to be statistically infrequent, but also normal, and would require a battery replacement.  (Batteries have a 1 year warranty).   This battery feature can also  produce similar results to what is being discussed in the thread, so it should first be considered by service.   This particular  forum discussion also involves a situation that could affect a limited number of systems, and could lead service to replace the system board during warranty.

If your system experiences these symptoms, please contact service during the warranty period.

My Yoga 500 has a flashing battery sign when I log into it. It says the battery is 0% but it's flashing on and off with the battery saver clicking on and off so the whole screen blinks. I've tried a new charging cable and it's not that... I believe it's the battery, any idea of whether I should risk buying a new one and cracking open the shell? I'm just out of warentee and I have files I've not backed up (I've tried while it's flashing but it keeps turning off now so I've a lot not yet transferred as I know my got about 10% (teaches me not to back up). I've no idea where to turn to get it fixed... And to see if my files can be saved. Help!!

My keyboard started not showing key presses on some keys, and strange letters/functions on others.  I used www.keyboardtester.com to discover that all of the keys are acting like the function key is is pressed, even though I am not pressing it.  I tried pressing it hard repeatedly a bunch of times but nothing changed.  I updated the bios, checked that no key filtering is set, no updated keyboard drivers are available, etc.  A USB keyboard works fine.  Is this a hardware issue of a stuck key, and do I just replace the keyboard?

I forgot to mention that the function key is not physically stuck down. It is just acting that way electrically.

Hello there. I've bought lenovo yoga 700 for just 4 months and it has fan noise problem recently. It sometimes has fan noise like running a huge apps, althought i just starting up it and open light apps like internet, and office. When it comes, the battery just can hold up to 2-3 hours. But, the other time with the same condition (openning the same apps), the fan noise literally too silent that i have to get my ear to the source to hear the noise. and it comes with the battery life much longer between 7-10 hours. Why it comes like that? Is that any settings that I have to set? or? Thank you.

Got a Lenovo Yoga just a couple days ago.  I have been using it with a browser open, with medium brightness, and it is lasting me about 3-4 hours on battery.   This laptop in the specs says it should last up to 11 hours, which I imagine this workload should bring me up to.  My previous Lenovo Y510p lasted this long, but thats how long it was stated to last, and that was after 4 years.  Does anybody else have this issue?

My daughter has a Yoga 3 Pro 1370 that has a problem controlling the brightness. The brightness is on full and cannot be changed via the keyboard or via Microsoft Mobility Center. There is also a problem connecting to an external display (no display is detect). All this use to work as recently as 2 days ago. The OS is Windows 10 64-bit April Update 1803. The current HD Grpahics 5300 driver is 20.19.15.4642 (3/22/2017) and the monitor driver is Generic PnP Monitor 10.0.17134.1 (6/21/2006). I tried updating both but it says these are the latest drivers. There is no driver rollback available (greyed out). The Lenovo graphics driver (10.18.15.4278_PV) and the latest Intel HD Graphics driver (15.40.38.4963) would not install (indicating not validated for this computer). I also ran the System File Checker and everything is fine. Any help/solution with these problems is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My buddy aquired a Yoga 3 Pro 1370 HE80 at the County Sheriff's auction. The LAW tries to  wipe the laptops they sell -- in this case I think they damaged the UEFI.  Here is what the bios says .  Note that there is no windows boot manager listed under EFI ... note that there is nothing under EFIYes I tried changing to "Legacy" -- and that results in an endless loop of the Lenovo logo flashing.  I followed the lenovo instruction for creating a proper UEFI boot usb that I found here https://support.lenovo.com/pe/en/solutions/ht076615 I also created one via Microsoft media tool.  Here is what happens.                 Next , I get this ... nothing bootable is listed (despite proper UEFI USB drives being inserted in the machine.     Anyone know of a way to fix the firmware? Is that even the issue?  Thanks in advance.
