M93z - "Error 0162 - Setup data integrity check failure"

Q: M93z - "Error 0162 - Setup data integrity check failure"

Hi all, We are having issues applying Thinkcentre M93z BIOS update. The update itself completes successfully but the following reboot produces the error: "Error 0162 - Setup data integrity check failure"?Press F1 to enter Setup, F2 to resume? At this point it doesn?t matter how many times you press F2 you always receive the same error during POST. The workaround has been to enter the BIOS and press F9 then F10 to save and exit. Once this has been done the machine boots without displaying the 0162 error. If we were manually walking around updating the BIOS on each machine it would be less of an issue but since we are carrying out the BIOS updates via SCCM, visiting each machine is not an option. It doesn?t matter if you apply the BIOS manually or via SCCM, you see the same error. For reference we are updating to the latest BIOS revision: FEKT50AUS. Any ideas? Many thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

One of the Edge 72 computers at work won't startup again after the user updated the BIOS via the Thinkvantage System Update program. But I'm having a hard time figuring out how to fix it / reset it.Does anyone have solution? The computer is a ThinkCentre Edge 72 (3493-ESG)

A:"Error 0162 - Setup data integrity check failure" ...

I am having exactly the same issue on a ThinkCenter Edge 72 (3484FRG)I have already tried to rollback to the previous version (F1KT45A) using the boot CD as I cannot start the OS anymore. Unfortunatelly it doesn't help. The computer won't even start after a factory reset (Fresh new installation of Window 7 using teh LENOVO RECOVERY Partition) Symptoms: BSOD on ClassPNP.sys after BIOS Update to version F1KT47A using the Thinkvantage System Update program. UPDATE: I have called my local Lenovo Support Center (The computer is used as a Business Device and is registred with a ThinkPlus ePac ). A Technician will come onsite next week in order to change a piece of hardware. So it seems that the problem is known by Lenovo. Unfortunately I guess that there is no "easy fix" as the technician has to come on site...I'll try to update this post next week once the problem will have been solved.

Greetings: My P310 SFF is running BIOS version FWKT5DA. On start-up, I'm getting the error message:error 0162: setup data integrity check failure By pressing F10 after the error appears, I can boot successfully and all seems well on my machine. However, I'm seeking a BIOS fix for error 0162 so that I can boot my machine without having to press F10.I checked the BIOS download version FWKT6BA that's available on the Lenovo support site and the installationREADME does not have any mention of error 0162 being fixed in FWKT6BA. Please advise as to when a fix for error 0162 will be available or point me to a version of the BIOS where this issue is fixed. Thanks.

I have a laptop that needed new security software so I downloaded kasperky. When I try to run I get NSIS Error. The drives have been formatted and win xp home reinstalled along with drivers, thats about it. I tried downloading the file many times from kaspersky themselves as well as download.com.

I also tried to run it on my other laptop only to receive the same error. I was instructed to run malwarebytes and combofix (from the seller) which I did. Now that Ive read some posts on this site Im also concerned about having used combofix.

My laptops are both still working fine but using the net without any security software bothers me, please help

I have a Dell 740 hdd with win 7 pro 64 that I've been using for about 3 yrs. I'm trying to put the HDD into a new pc but it wont boot, it tries, but goes to the repair option or start normally. The normal boot just goes back to the same message (surprise). When I run the repair, either form the HDD, or the System Repair Disk, I get the message Repair Action: "System files integrity check & repair", Results: Failed. Error code 0x490. Before I tried using the Dell HDD I put in a new formatted drive and loaded Win 7 Ultimate, it works fine. Eventually I want to update to win 10. I need the win 7 pro as it has all of my other software on it office, t-sql, visual stduio, etc. Hope that is enough information for some ideas toward a cure.

Welcome to our forum sas9491.

Swapping drives like you tried will not work.
All the drivers are different plus many more things.

A clean install as you did with Ultimate is the best way.
You should also do a clean install of your programs.

I have Windows 8 64-bit Acer Aspire V5-431-4899. I recently updated it to Windows 8.1. A couple days ago I began looking up how to dual boot my system with windows 7 as well. Well let just say i never got that far. I began looking into creating additional partitions. After I felt comfortable with it I downloaded a partitioning program so that I to try and allocate more space than the built in disk manager would allow. When I performed a system restart for the settings to take affect the partitioning program started before windows as I read it should and then an error message appeared saying something along the lines of error loading needed partition. I restarted my pc and tried using a re-installation disk for windows 8. the rep[airs failed as they also gave a partition error. I asked a friend who took computer classes about the problem and he recommended deleting partitions and starting over. I tried this. Unfortunately when i did so and created a new partition and tried re-installing windows it said that the partitions are in the wrong format. I attempted changing my systems boot settings as well as wether to boot legacy so i could easily continue doing so. After trying a few different things my pc still boots and legacy however none of the keys to acess boot or bio options work. they beep as they did before but i get the "pxe-e61: media test failure, check cable" message the only time it will go past this is if i have a disk in the disk drive but as i said earlie... After browsing these message boards for a solution to my about:blank problem (the about:blank page was replaced by a web portal page whenever I opened up IE), I was surprised to log onto my computer one day and notice the problem was solved. (on its own, without me doing anything)

My computer has also had several spyware hacks, programs have been installed and removed, and I can't help but to think that my computer isn't running at optimal performance. After all, it does seem to crash quite a bit, and I can't understand why.

This leaves me wondering if there is a program or a way to run a complete, comprehensive and deep-reaching diagnostics test that will fix any software issues or otherwise flaws in the integrity of my system that continually plagues my computer.

I have a firewall (ZoneAlarm), and I have Adaware and HijackThis to scan for spyware...but after all of these problems have arisen and been fixed (and especially after one has seemed to fix itself, the about:blank issue), I am left wondering if my computer isn't chock-full-'o problems and conflicting software issues that are unbeknownst to me, but are harmful nonetheless.

Can anyone offer any ideas? Thanks!

A:System Integrity - is there a way to check?

Since no 2 machines are identical, there is no global checker like you and all of us would like. The best we can do is use good anti-virus, anti-malware, and registry cleaning and repair programs. Everything ends up with some sort of entries in the registry so applications that check that are the nearest to a checker for everything.

Imagine in a 2016 remake of the classic film Gaslight, a young security professional is driven to the brink of insanity ? and impending disaster ? by a cyber schemer who unbeknownst to IT security has over time moved around and corrupted bits of data, manipulating, let's say, the design of a jumbo jetliner or perhaps the composition of a vaccine, to execute an unspeakable attack.

A little dramatic? Not really. While cybercriminals to date have mostly focused on stealing credentials for financial gain or disrupting businesses or organizations, the corruption of data, sometimes years in advance of an attack, is a growing ? and more challenging ? threat.

The volume, variety and velocity inherent in big data makes it difficult to ensure the integrity of all the pieces of data, says Oliver Tavakoli, chief technology officer, Vectra Networks a San Jose, Calif.-based vendor of automated threat management solutions. "Think of any big data cluster being fed by a broad supply chain of big data ? each data source may have a potential supply chain integrity issue and there are many independent parts of the chain and they are moving very quickly. And given that the data in a cluster is usually viewed through the lens of results of analytics rather than being looked at directly, data integrity issues may have subtle but important effects on the final results."

I'll skip all the backstory and cut to the chase.  Have formatted my hard drive.  I have a Windows 10 USB installer and a DVD installer.  I can boot both of the installers but once Windows Setup loads the keyboard and mouse immediately stop working.  From what I've read Windows 10 has built-in USB 3 drivers - which seems like it is working since Windows Setup is running from the USB thumb drive.  I just can't click Next to proceed with setup since the keyboard deactivated (no Num Lock or Caps Lock).  Keyboard works just fine in BIOS. I don't think Setup is not locking up.  The reason I am at this point is because the keyboard and mouse stopped working in my 8.1 install.  (I could remote control using my remote app, but no local keyboard and mouse).  Was able to upgrade to 10 which worked but still no keyboard and mouse.   Tried different ports and different keyboards. The BIOS does not have a way to disable xHCI on the USB that I could find. Any ideas?

My laptop consistently shows a black/white message on start up saying that it is checking a disk integrity. I believe my previous laptop stopped working a while after seeing such messages.
I have read how to manually run check disk but laptop will not let me do it, saying that I do not have sufficient privileges. I believe that as only user I have Administration rights if that helps.

A:Windows 7 Check Disk for Integrity

You may want to see if your laptop has built-in diagnostics (during boot up) and try running a hard drive diagnostic. It is possible that there may be an issue with the drive itself. If not, your PC might not be clearing the flag for disk check on next boot if it continues to do it. To turn this off, boot you computer into windows and access the registry by clicking your start button and in the search bar type REGEDIT.
You will navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager
Then in the right hand side, Modify BootExecute
Default value is autocheck autochk *
Make sure you set it to the default value and it wont check at boot anymore

Edit: Think my hard drive may be failing and was the cause of my file synchronizing crash. I use it mostly to stream music and video and access the hard drive a lot. Any advice thanks

HDDStatus - Tool to check hard disk status, health and reliability

I've been using GoodSync for the past couple of months to chain synchronize 3 hard disk drives and ran into my first issue today. GoodSync stopped responding whilst synchronizing changes to files so I used task manager to manually end the process.

I'm not entirely sure how much damage has been caused but when I re-analyzed the file changes a lot of the changes prior to the crash was no longer listed.. So I'm unsure of the file integrity but have so far noticed some music video files are corrupt with cyclic redundancy check errors but is not easily visible to check corrupt files because they still play but parts of data are missing.

I think I've experienced cyclic redundancy check errors before when my external hard drive fell flat on it's side whilst it was playing music (3 years ago). It took me a long time to filter out the bad files because all the mp3 files worked but some songs would randomly play in others etc.. is their some type of automated CRC scanner or method to check all my files ?

I copied some files from my old HP laptop with xp, burnt them with burnaware onto a dvd. Now on my new laptop (lenovo g580 W7 64bit) I tried to take them off the DVD and move to my local drive, when I was moving them from disc to drive explorer gave me a message saying 'Invalid MS-dos function' and the usual try again or cancel option.
Thinking some of the files on disc might be corrupt I ran
xcopy F:\*.*/s > C:\test1
And got the message in my topic title File creation error - Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
Now I don't have clue what this means and I can only tell you I have an output file in C, as per the command instructions, with almost all the files listed, some are missing but some of the ones there are the corrupt ones and some of the ones missing I think are fine.
Doesn't really lead me to the issue unless someone can decipher the error message I got?

Hi! Have got around 200 M73 Tiny nettops running by production users.Currently installed BIOS versions are 58 and 61.We need to update all of them to latest BIOS version 76 due to fixing recent Spectre vulnerability. We need to do this via SCCM.Tested this simple script: SPIW032 FHCT36A.bin wflash2.exe imagefh.rom /bb /rsmb /quiet %1 It works, flashes BIOS and reboot machine, however, after the process finishes succesfully, at BIOS loading phase it displays error "0162: Setup data integrity check  failure" It can be manually fixed by pressing F1 to enter Setup and then pressing F10 to save and exit. But for SCCM deployment on 200 machines it is not possible. We can not walk around every machine. I haven't used my Dell Inspiron 6400 (running Windows XP) for some time - over six months, I think. I noticed there were some System32 error messages appearing the last time I booted the computer - which I had intended to come back to well before today!

Error messages included System 32\Wireless configuration (.dll has not been registered) and System32/cmd.exe (specified system does not exist as an installed service).

After a little research on the internet, including this site and Bleepingcomputer.com, I decided to run RKill, which has revealed a number of Service Integrity issue:m issing services, a missing image, missing parameters key and a missing ServicDLL value. No other issues were found - I'm currently re-running the McAfee scan, as requested. I have the RKill text available to upload if required.

Just wanted to get some advice on whether I've followed the right course of action at the moment, and what the safest next step is. I read through Brioni's handling of a similar issue, and noticed there were further checks carried out and that the the proposed fixes were guided and monitored.Hence my hesitancy!

Thanking you in advance,

Hello everyone,

First of all, I'm not very literate when it comes to computers. I'm playing to store a large number of files with the long-term in mind. What storage media would be the most approapriate? CDs/DVDs seem to fragile for the task. No matter the choice, I'll need to reupload my files onto a new media every few years to prevent obsolence and data degradation.

Data degradation raises some concerns for me. How would I be able to check if some of my files have becomes corrupt over the years and between all those transfers? As there are thousands of files, manually checking all of them unfeasible.

I was thinking of compressing them with WinRAR so I only have to deal with one file instead of thousands. However, is it possible for files within the archive to become corrupt even if the archive opens successfully? Is it an "all of nothing" sort of thing where the archive decompresses perfectly or not at all? Essentially what I'm asking is, if years from now the .rar file opens successfully, is it guaranteed to be as good as the original?

(Not sure if this is the right forum for this. Please move it if it isn't.)

Yesterday my Windows 7 machine crashed a couple times - the first time the screen just went black, and the second time it looked like a video driver problem. There was no BSOD either time, I had to do a hard power off and then restart.

When I started up the computer after the second crash, Windows gave me an option to do a Startup Repair, so I did that. After a half hour or so, it told me that some sort of system files integrity check had failed and it couldn't fix it. But still I was able to boot into Windows and everything seems to be working OK.

I looked in the event log to see if I could find that error about the system files integrity check failing, but I couldn't find it. Should I be worried about the fact that the integrity check failed?

A couple nights ago I left my pc on to complete a download and set it to shutdown when it completed. I have done this many times without issue. But since waking up that day, I can not get Windows to start. I have run the start up repair and it is unable to fix my computer. It returns the system files integrity check and repair 0x490 error. I did a system restore from less than a week before and it didn't fix the problem. I have been able to start Windows in safe mode, but that hasn't helped in fixing the issue either.

I recently moved and left my install disk somewhere at home so I am trying to find a way to fix this without having to reinstall Windows. Any help would be appreciated.

Go through each step carefully from the Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot tutorial. Report back as you progress and the results of each step.

Browsing through TreeSize, looking just around, deleting temps and finding some stuff about some unrelated issue, because it's new PC, new desk, new everything i don't even have the mousepad set, so I accidentially clicked and issued a move command of System32 -> to -> winsxs, probably the stupidest thing I ever did.

Teracopy hanged real hard, because the folder was huge of small files and tons of access issues it did not disengage, but because of that also nothing get moved yet since it was just scanning, gathering files but reporting a lot of errors. Even pausing did not help, it just kept going.

SFC verifyonly made a very big CBS.log that I have no idea what to look for in there.

I will try to only scan system32 directory. Also I don't want to use scannow since I have tweaked files and registery (termsrv.dll patch for example) for my unrelated tweaks and other optimizations so that's the problem.

However, there doesn't seem to be an sucessfully completed operation in the dropdown, or it doesn't report it, hope it does, the only thing that I don't know what it did is the 4 operations in the middle called "freed: .... " ... now what is that ?

EDIT: stopped operation by logging off, did not reboot yet

EDIT2: I have searched with windows and treesize and it does not find any files beginning with CNBJ

A:Any kind analysis or integrity check to undo mistakenly moved files ?

Any help, please, im waiting to reboot!

I'm having trouble installing my authentic copy of Microsoft Office 2007 Ultimate. I use Windows Vista Business, and everything else runs ok. The install fails approximately 20% into the process, and shows the message:

Error 2203. An internal error has occurred. (C:\Windows\Installer\986af5.msi - 2147287008) Contact Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) for assistance. Following this message are some instructions on how to contact PSS.

I have noticed the file name changes each time - might this mean that setup gets a little further each time I attempt the installation?

Would appreciate any assistance on this matter. Thanks in advance!

Hey All,

Just FYI, The error was being caused by my anti-virus software interfering. I happen to use CA anti-virus, and simply snoozing this application was sufficient to allow setup to proceed.

Hi guys,

I have WesternDigital Blue 1TB harddrive in raw format and I cant recover data nor format it.

A:How to fix data error cyclic redundancy check

Your system specifications show a laptop.

But this seems to be an internal drive on a desktop.

If it is indeed an internal drive on a desktop, forthwith disconnect your faulty drive to prevent it keep spinning till you decide what you want to do with it.

Was it working alright in the desktop before and for how long?

When did it become RAW and for how long it remained connected after becoming RAW?

Do you want to format it now? ( I am asking this question because you tried formatting it.) I shall see your answers only tomorrow morning after 11 hours from now since it is already bedtime for me.

Just like the topic title says, I have been receiving this message: Data error (cyclic redundancy check) when trying to install some software. The whole error reads:
C:\Users\Me\Downloads\ArtizenInstall_295.exe Error 23 while opening this file: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
I've tried turning off my AV and UAC (just in case, who knows with computers) . . . I've cleaned my registry and run the disk check.
Any ideas? Let me know if I need to provide more info. Thanks, Kirk

A:Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

When seen with optical drives...that message usually indicates a problem reading the media. I would check the drive...and the media used.

If I received that message with every type of CD/DVD...I'd try cleaning the lens and/or prepare to acquire a new drive.
