T430s ultrabay battery not charging stuck at 0%

Q: T430s ultrabay battery not charging stuck at 0%

I have a thinkpad t430s and I bought a new supposedly oem lenovo 43 ultrabay battery. When I insert the battery it is recognized that a battery was plugged in but it stays at 0%. I've tried all different combinations of reinserting it before and after reboots turning on and off the ultrabay in the bios. The CD / DVD ultrabay drive works fine, although since the connectors inside are totaly different I doubt that is relevant info. What is the best way for me to figure out if the problem is this battery or the laptop? Or could it be a software issue... any help would be hugely appreciated. One of the main reasons I acquired this laptop was the use of the ultrabay batteries. Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I own a T430s Model 2356LRG. My Bios version is 2.66 (G7ETA6WW) which I believe is the latest. I bought a UltraBay adapter and a SATA HDD. I can access my UltraBay HDD in Windows 10 and Linux. Disk is detected by BIOS. I want to use it as a system boot disk (running LINUX) and I changed BIOS to disable Security Boot and changed from UEFI to BOTH (Legacy First). 1. If i connect a USB Pen in my USB port, F12 recognizes it and I can boot another OS.2. If I click F12, mi UltraBay HDD isn't there. I tried the same adapter in a T510 and F12 lists the HDD. So, it isn't an adapter problem, I believe. What do you guys suggest I do to solve this issue. Rgds

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. This is my first post, please be gentle. I have a ThinkPad T430s. Great machine, love it to death (in addition to the following, my only complaints are the lack of a 7-row keyboard, as well as painful disassembly process). Something that has proved to be a significant source of irritation is the fact that the 9mm CD/DVD drive has a very tangible "wobble." I've heard from other people, namely individuals on these Forums and co-workers who have contacted Lenovo, that this very noticable "wobble" is normal and will not affect the operation of the drive. Even with this in mind, I have been racking my brain on a way to fill in the gap between the top of the drive and the chassis/palmrest. I was told replacing the drive with a 12.7mm CD/DVD drive would solve this issue. Does anyone have an opinion on this issue? Thank you in advance,- SharkQUIRKS, the most eccentric of Marine Life

Hello and peace on you..
I have a DELL Inspiron N5110 from early 2011
I was using the laptop correctly..The laptop was plugged in and the battery was charging..Then i removed the charger let the laptop on battery until suddenly the laptop shuts down without even telling me that the battery is low or even leaving some "emergency" charge on it (usually 7% or 5% i don't know)..I plugged it in to charge it again and open my leptop and i found out that the battery is not taking charge anymore!
I tried to see if the propblem is with the connector and tried to remove and put in again the charger and it ddid not work
i tried also to remove the battery and put it in again, it did not help
Now it is stuck on 2% of charge from 5 days and it's plugged in!
The laptop says that the battery is charging, but actually it is not charging and the charge level is the same from days
I looked up some solutions online like uninstalling ACPI microsof from Device manager and reboot the laptop..It did not work
"Jauge de batterie" which is an integrated software related to DELL, says that the battery health is good and that my battery is working properly
The laptop works fine with only the charger plugged in and battery out
PS: the laptop heats usually but i think it did not affect the battery at all since it was working fine and the charge took me about at minimum 30 min on high performance to be emptyed before this happens.
Please, i'm seeking for help

A:Battery says: Charging, but it is not actually charging while plugged in and is stuck in 2% for 5 days !

First thing to check is wherther the sysetm recognizes the AC adapter - F2 at powerup to check that.
If it doesn't, try a new Dell OEM AC adapter - if that doesn't fix the issue, replace the DC jack board, and if that doesn't solve it, the mainboard.  Note:  you MUST use a Dell adapter - NOT a third party unit.
If the system DOES recognize the AC adapter, but won't charge the battery, chances are the battery is bad and will need to be replaced.
You cannot solve the issue without checking and, if necessary, replacing these parts.

Can someone help me with this problem? So I just received my brand new Dell Inspiron 15 3000 and the battery is not charging. It says it's "Plugged In, Charging" but it never goes up and stays at 0%. At first I thought I just need to plug it in for several hours but it's been 5 hours now and still the battery stays at 0%. I tried running the BIOS Diagnostics just to see if there are problems and there's none. The battery status says everything is running normally and the Battery State says it's Idle. I tried draining the flea power several times, removing and reattaching the battery, but to no avail. I'm getting really frustrated and I'm really close to throwing this laptop back to Dell.
I read somewhere that I have to update the BIOS but it won't update unless the battery is charged at least 10%. Someone also suggested that Windows 8.1 is causing the problem. I haven't even started using this laptop and it's already giving me a *** ton of problems. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks guys! :)

Hey @EnigmaDimirti, Welcome to the forums. I'm here to help. I would strongly suggest Testing and Calibrating the Battery. Should that not solve the issue, I would suggest calling in for support to see about replacing the battery, as it should not be displaying "no battery is pluged in" when you run a battery check. Please use the following http://www.hp.com/contacthp and create a case for your issue and contact HP. If you live outside the US/Canada, please click the link below to get the contact information for your region.http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html If this helps, please hit that Thumbs Up, and Accept as Solution. Cheers,TechSurge.

I'm not very good with computer stuff. I know ctrl+alt+delete and other teensy things but I don't know how to fix this. I left my T400 on for four days while I was on vacation, but  I didn't have it plugged in. I came back yesterday and tried to plug in my laptop because I need it for work, and when I plugged it in and started it up the battery in the start menu showed it was charging. Unlike most people mine says it is charging, but never goes past 0%. Even after letting it charge for almost 20 hours it's still stuck at 0%. Unrelated, but I noticed my computer isn't automatically connecting to my home wifi anymore like it used to, and a lot of my settings are reset. Are these issues related? What most important is my battery. It shows it's in good health on the power manager. I just don't know what to do. Help? I don't know if I provided enough information. Let me know if you need anything else. Thank you!

A:Battery 'Plugged in, Charging' but stuck at 0%

A completely drained battery will take a while for the controller to re-initialize. 20 hours seems a bit too long, but you might want to wait a while longer.Check under Power Manager's battery tab. If the wattage number is greater than 0, then power is flowing into the battery.

EDIT: The settings getting reset might be the CMOS battery running out. If the system time resets with both the AC and battery unplugged, then you'll need to replace the CMOS battery.

Brand new laptop, upgraded from factory installed Windows 7 to Windows 10 from Dell-supplied DVD. When plugged into AC adapter, battery charges to 60%, notification says it's plugged in and charging, but battery level never goes above 60%, even after hours on the charger. Updated to most recent BIOS and rolled back one level, no difference.

Hi.I don't usually utilize the full laptop battery and it stays plugged in for the most part. Today I let the battery go to 0%. After plugging in, it shows 'Plugged in, Charging, 0% available'. It's been several hours since I left it plugged in but it still won't charge up. As soon as I remove the Adapter, the laptop turns off. The product is still a year inside warranty. Is there a diagnosis of the problem? Is it a hardware issue or something else? How do I go about rectifying it? I have exams in the next 2 weeks.

I've bought this Z40 70 laptop in 2015. It's been charging fine until June 2018, not sure what happened all of a sudden it just stopped charging at 1 or 2 percent even after charging for hours. It just goes off the moment i remove the Adapter pin.Initially i thought the battery has gone and looked for replacement, but could not do so being in tour and so used my laptop by directly plugging the adapter. But after i came back, just thought of looking for replacement battery and googled for it, later i came to know this is something else and not the battery issue. Then i looked fr the solutions and tried as below.   I even tried to uninstal and reinstal the drivers of adapter and battery but the problem remains same, further i tried to update BIOS, but cld not do so as it saks the battery to be 30%, find pic attached, help me out at the earliest, thanks in advance.

A:My Lenovo Z40-70 Battery not charging, shows plugged in but stuck at 1%,

Hi rennaveen,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

If you have tried the steps mentioned here, them you can proceed following the hardware manual (page 21) for checking operational charge.

Using the battery indicator LED as reference, we expect that it shows amber (the battery has between 5% and 20% charge). Without powering the laptop, have it connected to the charger for 2-3 hours and notice if the battery indicator light would change to blinking white (battery has between 20% and 80% charge) then solid white (80%).

If there is no change then perhaps you can have it checked with any local service center to test the battery integrity first.

Update us ow it goes.

Regards

after I installed the latest firmware update (2XCN38WW) for my Yoga 710-14ikb, the battery indicator is stuck at 50% regardless if on battery or plugged in. It worked just fine a week ago with more than 7h of battery life.  Now, When the PC is on battery it simply turns off randomly after a few minutes, but works normally when plugged in. When connected to AC the power LED is off, but the PC does make the beep sound when connecting or disconecting the charger.  I used the diagnostics tool and the quick test indicates the battery is good. I cannot perform the discharge test because the PC turns of randomply and the charge test does nothing as the battery level is stuck at 50%. I tried reflashing the bios with 3 different images but every time I get the battery not detected message in the flash screen.  The pc is stuck at 50% battery and turns off randomply when not connected to AC. What should I do?

Hello Everyone, I have recently left my laptop in a car for about 8 hours, when it got to about -30C.I can only turn it on now while plugged in. Lenovo Vantage shows both batteriy condition as poor, with 0Wh remaining capacity. As a result, I cannot use the laptop without a charger, and it powers off after charger is disconnected. I have tried disconnecting them for a few hours, using different chargers, and now trying to use a Battery Gouge Reset which seems to be stuck at 0%. Ironically my warranty expired 20 days ago, so I cannot call it in. I am considering purchasing a new extended battery to compensate for both, but I am worried it will not solve the issue. Any recommendation from Lenovo and the community would be much appreciated. Alex

A:y510p/y500 Ultrabay battery?

Hi reconrey

Thanks for posting!

I think it is not possible since the Ultrabay has a Sata interface that communicates through the board. So it can only interpret Sata devices like ODD, GPU or power up a fan.

My suggestion is to install a battery monitor like Batterymon.
with that you'll see "real time" your discharge rate, then you can uninstall or disable some background apps and services during startup.

Lowering Discharge rate can give you more battery life.

Hope this helps,
Cheers!

Hello, so I've just got 3rd party main and ultrabay batteries. The main one seems to work fine. The ultrabay battery was not detected at first, but after main battery got charges to 100%, the ultrabay one got detected as well. And just as it charged to 100% (after the 2nd battery detection the lenovo power manager displayed charging from 60% or so), lenovo power manager suddenly started displaying "60%, not charging". I check the details and it shows my ultrabay battery has 0% charge even though couple of seconds ago it was charged fully. Restart did not help and with AC unplugged, my laptop starts using the main battery, probably because it thinks ultrabay one is empty. Any ideas on how to fix this? :/

Hello I have a Lenovo V510 laptop. The exact model is 80WQ00NLBMWhen I bought it the model was advertised with the possibility to add a second battery in the ultrabay.I searched for this battery with a P/N 4X50N82407, found an official supplier for my country and ordered it with a wait time, because it was not available in their storage. The battery arrived 2 months later. When I tried to install it, it became clear that my laptop does not have the required port for the battery and also the fixing screw is not in the right position at all.So I called the supplier and tried to return it. They said that it is not possible because I ordered with a specific P/N. Now I've paid for a battery that I even don't have, because I sent it to them, I can't use it at all.I tried to contact some support at Lenovo to ask why my laptop does not have this port which is advertised. But when I go to the support site and even type in the serial number of my laptop the only option is to come here - to the community support forum, but there is no option at all to contact some Lenovo representative with my problems and questions. What can I do in this situation ?

As this is my first post,  Hello all! I'm a longtime Thinkpad user, appreciating my previous T60 and T400 for their repairability and durability.  I've just bought a used thinkpad t430s, and I bought a battery for it as it didn't come with one. My issue is, the battery worked fine the first couple times I used it, but now it drains instantly if I unplug from the wall. After I restart the machine, the battery says 0% (charging), and after a short while (10+ minutes) returns to claiming fully charged (100%). So far, I have updated the bios, installed the lenovo power management software, installed the lenovo power management driver, tried removing the microsoft acpi driver without the battery in, then turning off and trying to start on battery  (no luck turns off immediately as well, critical low battery error). I also did this thing someone recommended for battery trouble where you shut down the computer and remove the power sources, then hold down the power button for a minute. The battery health is good, it has had three charge cycles, and this number isn't going up with my little drop downs to 0% and back up to 100% whenever I unplug the machine. I would like help in figuring out if this is a problem with the battery, hardware, or software of the computer. I am running windows 7 pro 64 SP1. i7-3520M @2.9ghz. Thanks in advance!  Ryan

Hi and welcome, moreryanIs the battery Lenovo genuine, has Lenovo FRU p/n?Have you get it from the Lenovo related store?Could you make a snapshot of the battery surface labels with quality enough to recognize labels, symbols? As you can't publish images here, in the post yet, provide an external link. Also, as your OS is win7 and I hope Lenovo Power Manager application is installed, what are the values of the second half of the battery parameters (manufacturer name and followed) PM shows in the Battery tab? Make a snapshot as well.Answers and images are needed to understand whether the battery is faked since the battery for T430 should have HW authentication.

When I use the battery as the power of my laptop, it always shutdown abnormally before the battery reach the ?critical low battery alarm?.For example, I set the power manager to sleep when the battery lower than 10%. However, it will out of power when the battery reaches 12-13%. It wasn?t a normal shut down, it suddenly goes down without any alarm. It seems that the power been cut down by someone. My laptop is a new thinkpad T430s, it seems something wrong with the battery. I try to Perform Reset the battery, but it still not work.

A:Serious problem of thinkpad T430s' battery!

try to reinstall the ThinkVantage Power Manager? If that doesn't work, then just give Lenovo a call and have them resend you a new battery.

i have been using this laptop for 2 years i get it from my friend .

from start it always charges battery upto 56 percent.

and i thought that there is problem in the battery cell and in few months battery backup becomes very short.

Yesterday i bought a new battery for my laptop but it is giving me the same problem which i had with my previous battery.

So this is not battery problem.

Things i have tried

1)Removing battery and uninstalling windows ac adaptor from Device manager.

2)Removing both battery and power Adaptor and pushing the power button for 20 sec if there is any residuel current.

Nothing has worked for me so far.

I would be thankful for your guidance.

Thank you
(I'm running windows 10 X64)

Hey, I really need help. I'm having problems with my laptop. It's a dell inspiron 7559 and was bought around January. Recently I have seen that the battery has no longer been as hot as it used to be when I first started using it. Along with the sleeve on the tip of the screen power adapter (below the part where the adapter lights up) has started to come off, exposing the wires. The battery has continually dropped down its percentage rate ever since I bought it, and it won't go back up. It is currently at 0% battery life and it says when you highlight over the battery icon ( plugged in, not charging). It also happens to show the BIO setup when I start the computer and shows that the batteries wattage and type cannot be determined. In the BIOS setup, the ac adapter type is unknown. The battery has not been through any harsh conditions along with the laptop. I have tried removing the battery, starting up the computer with the ac adapter (which is 130 watts), then adding the battery back, and ac adapter, then turning it on, but it had no effects. If I remove my ac adapter while my computer is on ,it instantly turns off. If someone can support me with this issue, it would be gladly appreciated. Thanks.

It sounds likely the charge circuit on the mainboard is damaged.  Contact Dell to have the mainboard replaced under warranty.

Hello: I replaced the factory Optical Drive in my T430S with a 3rd party caddy in order to add an SSD for more storage. I want to replace the SSD with one of larger capacity, but the caddy is stuck: it comes out ~ 1/3 of the way, then hangs. It feels like it is sticking in the rear of the slot: the T430S release mechanism does NOT seem to be the issue, but I could be wrong. It appears to be caught on something on the rear side of the NB. I removed the keyboard thinking I could coax the caddy out from inside, but no luck. I could probably pry it out with force, but I think that would cause permanent damage and make the bay unusable. Anybody have any experience with this problem?

Hi ! Over the past two weeks I've spent my time troubleshooting why my recently (used) bought X240 is not charging the internal battery. Short timeline: 1. Bought used X240 in good condition but with dead internal and external battery - working well when using power supply.2. Came home and tested that thing -> both batteries show "0% - not charging" (with Win10Pro installed) *suprise, surprise*3. Ordered both new internal and external battery.4. External battery came 1.5 weeks ago. Installed it and worked like a charm (Battery 2 (external): X%, charging).5. Internal battery came the day before yesterday. Installed it and did not work -> "Battery 1: 53% - plugged in, charging - Battery 2: 6% - plugged in, not charging)6. Waited the recommended 6-12 hours like it was written in the "manual" to get it fully charged.7. Next morning -> Batterystatus unchanged (see point 5) ... It's stuck at 53%. Though the status says it's charging, it doesn't.8. Simply tried out what's going to happen when I pull the cable of the power supply -> Notebook instant off *hmmm*9. As the external battery was obviously blocked from charging by the internal (as it was not charged), I've taken out the internal battery again and et voila, external battery is charging again.I've tried to remove both batteries and perform the "Magic Trick" (press the main power switch for 30 secs) and I've also pushed the "reset" switch on the backside near the battery. Sadly without any result ;-(... Read more

Old battery looks dead and i have bought new one. First time I've got compatible battery and got message "The battery installed is not supported by this system and will not charge...". Next battery I got - 45N1004, looks original. I installed the battery and got yellow, rarely blinking battery sign on top of laptop. Windows 10 reporting that battery OK, adapter "plugged in, charging", but it is not charging. Battery is not pretty new (2015/12), but it's not used and AIDA64 reports good state of battery. Should I go to the service with my T530 or is there another solution?

Hi...

I am having a problem with my laptop computer. I figured out that my laptop, when being charged or using the Power Outlet, runs at 100% CPU at times, and slows me down when running and working on some open applications. At first I thought I had tons of spyware or even a virus, and even posted a Hijackthis file here. Nothing was found.
I figured out that my cpu runs at 100% when using the power outlet, or when my computer is chargnig. When I unplug the powercord and use the battery life, everything runs GREAT!!!!! my cpu drops to a normal 4-8% usage with multiple applications running. WEIRD huh? Can anyone relate to this ?? Is this and indication that my battery is going bad???? Can someone help me with this or suggest what is going on? I am running windows XP home edition, and have a compac presario 1500 series. Pent 4..

HELP!!!

My Lenovo G50-30 laptop has suddenly developed a funny problem.  When battery charger is introduced while laptop is on it says "plugged in but not charging" and battery keeps reducing, however battery charges when laptop is switched off. The problem has started happening from approx a 3-4 weeks back. My battery was under warranty and was replaced by Lenovo authorised center Jogeswari (West), Mumbai, India BUT still issue reamins the same.  Service center installed a software called OKO care which randomly allowed charging three times while laptop was ON. However this also did not permanently solve my problem and returned back to same issue hence un-installed software. Then had tried couple of other lenovo softwares (vantage, forgot name of anotehr one) but in vain.  Pls organise immediate help as I have exams starting September 19, 2019 and need laptop very badly for preparing and cant afford to switch off to recharge. Thank you in advance. FYI - There is no capping not to charge beyond 55-60% to safeguard battery. I have Windows 10 (64 bit OS), initial OS which came along with laptop was Windows 8.1 which automatically got upgraded to Windows 10. My laptop is always kept on auto update hence all latest updates are installed. I do not allow any unnecessary software installation.

That sounds suspiciously like the laptop is in Airport Mode, which if enabled will prevent it from charging when on, yet charge when off, just like you describe.  You can find out via a command promptRight click on start and select Command Prompt (Admin)  -or- Windows PowerShell (Admin)  depending on your system configuration. At the prompt type:  powercfg /getactivescheme    and press EnterIf it comes back with something similar to the image below showing (Airplane) as the active scheme,  then that is likely the culprit. Click on Image to expandIf you find that it is enabled, at the same command prompt window type:  control powercfg.cpl   and press Enter to open the Power control panel applet, and then check to see if Airplane Mode is set as your current power plan. As a last resort, you can also type:  powercfg ?restoredefaultschemes  to reset the Windows power schemes to their default settings.  Best of luck,

For some time have received the error message regarding under power smart adaptor with newer replacement HP adaptor matching original.  Battery icon lists % charge & "not charging".  Battery tests good in HP Support Assistant battery check.  Power adaptor will power my older Pavillion laptop but not  the Envy with or without battery installed.  Battery charging LED does not light.  Have tried re-calibration by deleting Microsoft devices in Device Manager.  Envy will operate with and without battery while using Dell power adaptor. Computer repair shop says Smart adaptor produces 0 voltage (even though it powers Pavillion) and I need a new battery (even though diagnostic test indicates good). Help!!!

Does the system correctly identify the AC adapter, or does it show "unknown"?  F2 at powerup to check.
Is the battery the original one that arrived with the system?
