Script has stopped working or script is busy

Q: Script has stopped working or script is busy

I am constantly (like a half hour doesn't go by) getting the script messages. The script has stopped working or the script is busy. I don't know what causes it so much. I click on debug script, but I don't understand what the debugger says or how to tell how long to wait. I just don't understand anything about this at all plus why it happens so much. Please help!

Preferred Solution: Script has stopped working or script is busy

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

HI Tech Guys!

I don't know if I have a bug I can't find or what.

I use Mozilla Firefox, and lately when I've been on the internet, this keeps popping up:

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

Script: https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.4/jquery.min.js:20

Is there a fix??

I got a message window TWICE, in the process of writing/sending an e-mail. Can someone who speaks cyber-stuff tell me what this means? I tried opting for "Stop Script" on the first appearance, but whomever gave me that option must have been just kidding, because a minute later, I got it again. Is this a ploy to drop my malware protection so it can drop stuff I don't want inside my computer? Or is this a real problem that I should pursue?

For the past few years I have used the following vbs script to perform a simple archive on files. After several updates earlier in the year, they quit working. Gives me the error "can't create object 'Scripting.FileSystemObject', error code: 800A01AD
I really havent had time to seriously research the issue until today.

The most prominent updates on my WinXP Pro system are SP3, "Windows Power Shell 1.0", and all the .net framework updates (08/14/09). I think that one of them may be the culprit. Is there a better way to write this simple code, or does anyone know what may be causing the error.
Code:
Dim fso
set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
fso.CopyFile "C:\Data Files\Databases\Case Management.mdb", "L:\DB Backups\Case Management (" & Replace(FormatDateTime(Date(),2),"/","-") & " " & Replace(FormatDateTime(Time(),4),":","") & ").bak"
set fso = nothing
Thank you,
JR

But didn't get any script error.
Specs information:
Windows XP Professional 5.1 (build 2600)

RAM: 768 MB
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 -2.2 Ghz

Hey, I get script error, I don't remember what it said, but it have happened twice now in about a day.
I remember the word "chrome".

What happens, is that my computer runs slow, about 30x times slower. Almost frozen.
And then I get the message "Script stopped working" and it said "chrome" and something else.

And when I click Stop script, it works perfect again...
But I don't want this to happen daily, are there anything that can prevent this from happening?
Also, I got another problem related to this too.
The memory usage is TOO HIGH! My maximum memory usage expands because of that script, the script
makes an .exe file go from 30 000 kb to 300 000. (just happened)
And then it stops after 5 minutes.
I really don't have any idea what to do but to hope for a reply here.

Also, here is a picture of my task manager, maybe you could help me remove some of the
processes? The memory usage, as said, is way too high.

I have erased 3 processes that I know what are, I know what the AVG ones are for too though...
If something about my problem is unclear, then please reply what, and I'll try to give a better explanation.

Thanks.

I am running xp on a Dell Dimension 8200o with 1 GB of RAM and 2.5 Ghz processor. I wasn't getting Windows updates and that was fixed and they're working now. The problem I now notice is that I'm getting "Script on this page is busy" messages now and things have slowed down to a crawl when this happens. Often this happens even when the performance seems normal in task manager. Eventually, the scrips go through if I keep hitting the continue button. I have no viruses or malware as per my anti-virus program, Total Ddefense and I have used Ccleaner to get rid of the garbage but the script errors keep coming. I wasn't getting them before the Windows Updates were fixed.

I also have done a scan with Spybot and it shows a virus Win32/Clspring.FQ it shows this twice and on one it shows that it has been deleted, but on the next line int shows it again and it states Infected. I can't seem to remove it. HELP!

To assist in your problem, we need you to download HijackThis (http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip). Extract it to a folder like C:\Program Files\HijackThis. Run it, and select 'Scan'. Do not fix anything yet, just select 'Save log', and copy the contents of the log to your next post.

An expert will be along shortly to review your log.

Here is my Hijack this log file. I did everything listed but I am having issues with the way pages load or don't load properly while on the internet. Cannot read the words very well, sometimes they are overwritten , sometimes they are huge or the writing is too thin to be read easily. For example, when I load a newpaper like NY Times, the columns are squeezed in the middle of the screen and isn't displayed so it is readable columns overlap and words and photos overlap or are sqeezed into a narrow column. I have downloaded new drivers for the display, played with display properties and cannot seem to find the problem. Wondering if it is a bug or virus or worm or something. I am really not a geek, so I need help. I don't know how to mess with registry things, so I use Registry Mechanic. But it has not fixed this problem. Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen
book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop
publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Also, within a few seconds of the terminal window appearing I get the error "The Script has Halted." I can however right click and paste in text (but i don't know if that's relevant). Here is what I see:

Any suggestions?

While browsing or using a web sight, a notice pops up that the VBS script has stopped working as it is being used by another program? I also get the message (sometimes) that Windows Explorer has stopped working.

Also a least once a day( sometimes more often) The computer stops processing,,, but it looks like it's processing something as the "whirlwind" (where the cursor usually is) shows it's busy. Sometimes it rights itself other tomes I get fed-up and just reboot.

I hope you can assist

Kind regards

A:VBS script has stopped, I being used by another program

VBS Script is simply a type of language that web developers use. They can make forms and other items using it. However, from my experience it's not very widely used. For that reason I'm thinking it's a specific site that is causing the issue, or maybe a brower plugin.

Can you provide what browser and browser version you are using? Also can you provide the plugins that are running? Do any of them need to be updated?

Hello everyone!

It has been a while since I have been on here. I have had a few computer problems that I had to work through, and once again I had to do a Factory Condition System Reset. The second time in jut over a year. They did not know what was causing my problem. I talked to both Dell; my computer manufacturer and Microsoft who made Windows Vista. They boh could not figure out what was causing my problems. Microsoft recommended to go to my computer manufacturer. And Dell just said to do the complete System Reset, Also Known As: Factory Condition Restore.

Back to my questions about Script debugging and Script errors. Every once in a while I have Windows notify me of the Script errors. Also sometimes when I go to view a webpage or enter a website a message will pop-up saying that a script error occured that could prevent me from viewing the page properly and asks me if I want to continue. I do have: "Disable Script debugging?" checked for both "Internet Explorer" and "Other". I also get a little note in the lower left hand corner saying: "Done, but with errors on page."

My first question is: What the heck is Script debugging?

Second question is: What can I do about the Script errors that occur?

Third: Why do script errors occur or what causes them? I know there can be millions of reasons that they occur, but what are the most common ones?

Fourth: Is there anything that can be done to fix them from the viewer'... Read more

After reading for a while I got to the conclusion that the problem is related to Kaspersky

I already tried to re-register

but it didn't work

This is what CP tells me.

A:Need Help. Can’t find script engine “VBScript” for script.

Is Kaspersky working or not working? If you are getting a VB Script error, either something was removed in error, or you have the OS locked down too tightly with the A/V software.

I have the following script on an XP computer and it successfully detects whether an application has stopped or is not responding. It kills if required and restarts. But it doesn't work on Windows 7.

How can I either fix, or do the same thing another way on Windows 7?

On XP if the app is not running then "%TEMP%\TaskStatus.tmp.txt" ends up empty. On windows 7 it ends up with the string "INFO: ...." in it. So checking for size 0 doesn't work. I tried doing the same thing as done lower in the script but checking for INFO: instead of SUCCESS: but it doesn't work for some reason.

A:Script to restart an application if it has stopped.

Try setting the script to run, or start running it with ADMINISTRATOR rights enabled.
9 times out of ten, the problem with getting an application in windows 7 to run properly is it needs to be run with administrative rights.

Also, since that script was originally for XP try running it in compatibly mode for XP or an earlier version.

Hi,

I have an HP desktop PC with Windows 10.
I use Mozilla Thunderbird for my email.

Lately, a message keeps popping up in Thunderbird.
It says:
"A script on this page may be busy, or it may have
stopped responding. You can stop the script now,
or you can continue to see if the script will complete.
Script: chrome://global/content/bindings/tabbox.xml:662"

Before it appears, Thunderbird is unresponsive. Then the message
appears. If I X it out or click "Stop Script", sometimes Tbird will
work again for a while and then it happens again. Other times the
message just pops up again immediately. Either way, it interferes
with my use of Tbird & getting my emails.

What can I do about it?
Thanks.
PS: Although I have Chrome browser on my computer, I do not have it
open. I am using Firefox when this happens.

My husband's new (manufacturer refurbished) laptop is getting pop up message saying "a script has stopped running.  You may wait for it to run again or stop script".  He will stop script, but sometimes it does not work and the same message keeps popping up.  Is his computer infected already???

He is using a Dell Latitude D620, running Windows 7 and Intel Centrino Duo
2.00 Gb of RAM and a 32 bit operating system capable of becoming 64 bit

Security is:
Avast Premium
Win Patrol (free)
Malwarebytes (purchased)

He also has Firefox addon:
Adblock Plus
Adblock Edge
Browser Protect

My husband sustained damage to his short term memory during a biopsy a few years ago, hence my efforts to prevent ads popping up and tempting him.  He also looks up sites specializing in the naked female form, but no activity involved unless it is just moving around, if you get my meaning.  Nothing hard core and he does watch the "safe" signals on the browser results.  I also got him to remember not to click on the topics/ads on the sides of the pages he looks at.

Other than this script problem I wanted to know if there was a way to speed up the computer.  He uses Facebook and some of their games, YouTube and does searches on various subjects from history to card tricks and those mentioned above.  He complains it can take seemingly forever for things to boot up like puling up emails, watrching vids on youtube and game play as well a... A:"a script has stopped running" message frequently, sometimes locking up computer

No need to have both of the Adblockers. I suggest deleting Adblock Plus as the other blocks the same ad servers plus the ads that
Adblock Plus allows. You could delete Edge and open Adblock Plus preferences and disallow the ads that Edge blocks, too.
Browser Protect is not needed either. There are adware/ malware products of the same name but that may not be what is ailing you.
I would suggest the best Firefox add-on there is for preventing many types of malware from infecting your computer. But it does require
a small learning to use curve and it may just be a bit too much for hubby. You can try it and then decide....NoScript

Use the programs below to find and remove adware and malware. The surfing habits you mentioned are prone to picking up unwanted stuff.
I see that you have MBAM but I included the instructions for it as well.
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
Download MBAM from link above.
* Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
* When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
* When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
o Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
o Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
* Then click Finish.
MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.
* If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself.
* Press the OK button to close that box and continue.
On the Scanner tab:

Since this thread is similar to what I want to ask Im writing it about the problem that I have:
In windows xp and 7 I did not have this problem but on WINDOWS 8 is a real headache, Right now I have like 20 scripts that use access 2003 that connect to SQL Data in a server, but the first problem is that I cannot map drives classic style like Z:\ or H:\ etc
here is one simple example of the script
Set objShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
Dim accessApp
set accessApp = CreateObject("Access.Application")

accessApp.Visible = "True"
accessApp.OpenCurrentDatabase "Z:\Contabilidad\Autorun\Reportes\CHEQUEOSAB.mdb"
accessApp.Run "ActualizaDatos"
accessApp.CloseCurrentDatabase
accessApp.Quit

Set objshell = nothing
set accessApp = nothing

And the drives are mapped, and connected when trying to run the script?

Are you using Homegroup for Networking or regular MS Networking? I don't know if that would matter, Windows 7 has Homegroup too.

I found these articles:

wshshell.TileVertically
It's been working just fine for ages, but now the short cut simply opens the notepad file as opposed to executing it.
All I have done recently, is to install some protection software (Norton 360 and Iolo System Management 8).
How can I repair this problem.

Good evening everyone,
I have a problem regarding a shutdown script on Win7 clients.
What I am trying to do is simply set the date on the client to the 1st of January 2017 due to restrictions made by the
customer.
I simply tried to use a .cmd file as a shutdown script with only "date 01.01.2017" in it. After doing so, I used this script in a GPO wich I linked on a test OU.

As far as I see, this should work. But somehow it does not. The next step would be to run a .exe file. So I put this "C:\exelocationandname.exe" as a second line in said .cmd.
The date is not set, but the .exe is being executed. I do not have any idea why this occurs.
As far as I understood, the shutdown scripts run with SYSTEM priviledges. So this shouldn't be an issue.
Please let me know if you have an idea about this.

Thanks a lot

Jan

What might be the possible reason?
