Auto installer for windows?

Q: Auto installer for windows?

Hey guy's n gals merry christmas/xmas

I know you can get windows to auto install although I don't know how to. But I have various license numbers for different windows versions and multiple pc's so I wanted to know whether I could create a multi installer including vista (i know that this is already a multi-installer) and xp which would allow me to select which version I want to install and then the rest would be automated.

in the event that this would not be possible could I have your thoughts on an idea that I have. Basically I have an old 30gb and 4gb Ipod laying around; the 4gb has vista on it this works perfectly. would it be possible to partition my 30gb with swiss knife or something similar so that I could have for instance drives f:/, e:/ and j:/ on it. then xcopy vista, xp home and xp media center to each one.

would dos recognised the individual drives even though there is only one physical drive there?

Well I would appreciate any ideas and advice thank you

Preferred Solution: Auto installer for windows?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

If you have Windows 2003 or 2008 on your network you can use Windows Automated Installer Kit and then you can deploy Windows XP, Vista or 7 to several PCs using Windows Deployment Service (WDS). You can select which image to deploy and what drives to add.

More information about WDS is here:

Hello experts. I am running Windows2000 and have IE6 and Netscape7 browsers. My problem is that whenever I open IE I get the Windows Installer box saying " The feature you are trying to use is on a network source that is unavailable". It appears to be looking for something called 'data1.msi' in C:\SWD\-3S8L16R.ABF\IMGWIN\MS0200EA\EN. When I click the cancel box I get the message "failed to redirect" and this situation re-occurs when browsing. However, it is only a problem on IE and does not seem to happen in Netscape. I've tried most of the obvious things but to no avail. I did dabble with Purityscan and wonder if this is the culprit ...any advice will be gratefully received.

Just was wondering, reformatting a computer is a pain, especially when you have a handful of software you must reinstall with it. Is there a way to make a boot disc or just a disc period that will install the needed software, so that time is not wasted from switching discs - typing in serials keys - etc...I was thinking something like nLight but it does not provide a option as such.

A:Auto Installer perhaps?

Well if you had more then 1 computer. setup in a domain or workgroup enviroment. you could use a 3rd party tool like Norton Ghost and create and Image, with the pre-installed software already installed, and just push the image out to you're other computer.
but if you have 1 computer, hav fun reinstalling everything, ..

you either need a PXE boot nic with , RAS , DNS , DHCP
Ghost the image from machine and put it onto a dvd as a iso, or something of the like . it's actually quite complicated to explain. i'd google it if i was you.

hi guys! Glad to be here. I am looking for an automatic installer so i can automatically go thru install wizards just from a click. I have tried Almeza's Multiset and it works great but it wont allow you to create an auto install exe with the trial version and I want to try the exe before I buy it to see how well it works. I have been searching for other programs like this but I havent found any available for download. Anyone know any good programs that will automatically install programs? Thanks!

btw. sorry if this is the wrong forum for this question

How would I go about created a script or so that would install a set list of software? I have tried this before and managed to create one that would install Adobe Flash etc. But some of the software requires some input for example setting a file path etc. How would I go about doing this? Is there any software that does this?
I have seen Ninite and that looks cool but it doesn't support other software.
Also are there any drawbacks of installing like this?

A:Create a auto installer

AutoIt or AutoHotKey (AHK)
Autohotkey vs AutoIt v3 - WikiVS

There are other scripting languages, but those are the two that I would suggest looking into.

The drawback to automation is dealing with the unexpected. If your script is going to click on a window or send keystrokes to a window, then you need to be prepared for windows from other apps popping up unexpectedly. AutoIt (and AHK) can send keystrokes to windows that are not in focus (not in front of all other windows).
ControlSend / ControlSendRaw

edit: it would help us to know if you plan on visiting each computer to make these installations or if you want to push them out from one central computer. Silent installations work well when pushed. But for those stubborn installs that require attention, you can try and automate that attention via scripting tools.

There are indeed,like driver booster,Iobit,and
SlimDrivers 2.2.45206.63218

PS:I prefer to go to the manufacturers site and obtain the drivers there, since these can download drivers that may be newer, but depending on the chipset, can actually be incompatible!!
I have seen this from personal experience!!

So, after an annoying issue with my AMD Radeon HD 6470M card and PSU causing a huge issue where my laptop wouldn't boot past "Starting Windows" except in safe mode, I finally got it working by reformatting with a clean Windows 7 x64 install and not installing the AMD drivers, using the (I'm assuming on board?) Intel HD 3000. After running all of the updates for Windows and updating all drivers (specifically the Intel one), the laptop was working in top shape with basically all functionality (playing games included).

Several days ago, my boss installed Office 2010 on my laptop and in doing so screwed up the graphics again (possibly after installing a service pack for office x32 bit version while I run x64?). Now where it should say "Intel" in device manager for my display adapter, it has reverted to Standard VGA adapter and graphics look like safe mode. In the driver details it says Intel Corporation, Date 1/29/2014, and Version Windows update tells me this is the most recent driver version (most recent available from Samsung, my laptop's manufacturer maybe?) and I've tried running the Intel auto install but it fails and closes. Samsung also does not offer an Intel graphics driver for my laptop on Windows 7, only on XP. I've tried restoring to a point before the Office install and no change to the graphics. In the many fixes I've attempted, it was at one point showing Standard VGA with the ! and reporting that the computer could not verify t... Read more

I know I have windows installer installed, as Flashplayer and adobe installed it. Is it harmful, my brother is raising a lot of heck about it. I read the other old forum logs for windows installer and it does not see to be a problem. He also said that he has a program from windows called Trusted Installer. Checked back forum logs, nothing on trusted installer. I ran a search of my computer with no results. He said it stopped him from downloading SAS. He did a clean install and now it downloads and he cannot find no trusted installer on it. Is there such a thing as a trusted installer? Its only supposed to be in vista as he says. Curious about it as I cannot find nothing on my computer for trusted installer, windows installer yes, other NO.

every time me or my wife logs into our accounts on windows we receive a pop up for windows installer and sonic decoder. they cannot be canceled unless I open the task manager and manually stop them I cant think of any changes I have made to msconfig or my registry that would cause this. I checked the event viewer log to see if there was any additional info but none was available. Any suggestions anyone?

My system also seems to be running very sluggishly way slower than normal, I ran a spyware scan Vundo fix and I am currently running a complete antivirus scan just to be safe even though I dont feel that this is malware/virus related.

so an update to this one....my computer is acting all sorts of weird now and programs are showing up that I deleted long ago....also when I view the audit in event viewer it shows a very large amount of registry errors. I would like to completely disable auto run / auto play in Windows Media Player 12 on Windows 7, and I cannot find a way to do so. I've searched the web endlessly, and there are lots of suggestions, but nothing works. I have disabled every type of auto run / auto play I can find, but if Windows Media Player is open and I insert a flash drive, CD, or DVD, whatever I'm playing is interrupted by what was inserted even if it's not media. Just a plain, blank flash drive does this.

Has anyone else been able to figure this out?

Hello all. I really need your help. I've tried to open a downloaded file - TinyWallInstaller.msi - , but without success. I've learned that Windows blocks opening this and many other file extension types because it rates them as "high risk" or "invalid" with the pop-up : " Publisher Could Not Be Verified". I also came across a simple tutorial that does unblock this, but it doesn't apply to Vista Home Prem. - my O.S. So, that said, I'm looking for a good workaround that will enable me to unblock and open this neat firewall program. My experience is somewhat limited - would hope to avoid command prompt and registry editing if possible. However, at this point I'm willing to try just about anything! Please help!!!

I have Word 2002, SP3, for Windows Office XP Pro.

My problem is I want to permanently turn OFF the autocorrect options (all of them: correct initial capitals, correct first letters of days, etc etc, autoformat, as well as auto text and auto type).

Yes, I have unchecked all the boxes in Tools > Autocorrect Options, the problem is I have to painstakingly go though all the boxes every time I open Word and uncheck them. My setups are not remembered.

I can't figure out how to make these options stay set this way.

I've tried installing the Office Resource Kit and setting a system policy (though I am the only user on this PC), but no success.

I had to rebuild my system a month ago -- before that, I never had any problems, Word seemed to remember exactly my preferred set up and saved autocorrect options etc to the normal template.

I checked the normal template and it is in Doc Settings folder where it should be.

I searched the forums and Word help but can't seem to find any advice, mainly because most people usually run these options and they only wish to modify the instances where they apply, rather than permanently disable them.

Please help! Much appreciated! Thanks!

You need to check Control Panel, Power Options. (screenshot)

Note the tabs. In this dialog you set your options and they are set for the Power Scheme shown. In Laptops, there are usually 2 schemes listed, one for AC powered and a separate for Battery powered.

Desktop OR AC powered Laptop, the only thing you MAY want to turn off is your Monitor.

Hello everyone. I'd like to know why win7 64bit decides by itself to auto refresh a window minute and literally the next second or two later it does not.
Lets say, I save a pic from the net, just before I go into the browser I already have my downloads folder open. I save a couple pics and I go back to the open folder and the pics are there at the bottom (I sort by date modified). I go back to the browser save another pic or anything, I go back to the folder and the pic or whatever is not there, so i have to refresh myself. I was just in that folder 10 seconds ago I seen no reason for it to not refresh now when it just did it 10 seconds ago. Now, I have not changed any setting regarding this or any explorer action. I can't even find an auto refresh option anywhere.
So how is this possible? What the heck is wrong with this OS?

I must say, I will soon be at my wits end with this OS. I paid $300 to spent more time organizing and moving files around. A lot more time. They have really screwed up explorer this time around. Explorer in XP was essentially perfect (I never even touched Vista on my machines. My wife has Vista). I'm starting to believe that win7 was just a money grab and that of the many problems with this OS will not be fixed in any hotfix or service packs, but win8 will be all better just as long as you spend another $300. A:Explorer windows auto refresh then don't auto refresh. Why?

We have a thread for this kind of thing. I can't find it at the moment. I think unsubscribed from it on accident, but I'm pretty sure its in general discussion. Explorer is working like it always does. It can be annoying that it doesn't always refresh, but I'm sure you can find a pattern, like how many added files it takes or how long it takes to "auto-refresh". The reason you don't here anything bad about Windows 7 is for three reasons. 1) you haven't looked hard enough. There are plenty of news stories with Mac lovers saying its Vista with a new paint job. 2) XP was as unstable as Charles Manson on Crack at the best of times when it first came out. 3) Vista was, well Vista. MS claimed it would run fine on 512MB of RAM, so people were installing it on old computers, and new computer were being bought that were seriously underpowered. When it wouldn't run worth a crap, everyone hated it. Not to mention the incompatibility issues that no one saw between 2000 and XP. If you didn't use Vista at all, the changes do seem a lot more drastic. If you don't like it, go back to XP SP3. Problem solved!!!!!!!

I have read the thread listed above, but could not follow much of it. My problem appears to be the same one as that: Windows Installer can't find the file TACOR.msi to install it. It has something to do with Earthlink Total Access, but I can find no such file. I have no ability to stop the Installer itself, and this (the Installer which is constantly running - if you click cancel, it just sits there) seems to be slowing down the computer. I am not the primary user of this computer, and although I only use Firefox on my own computer, this user has gotten used to looking at her Hotmail with a shortcut which goes through IE. We have PC Cillin, and I have used it as well as their HouseCall, and their System Cleaner (in Safe Mode). None of these have found anything but a few cookies, which I deleted. After about 8 hours on my own, and with the tech from Trend, I am totally frustrated. Also, the primary user of this computer did open an email from a close relative lately, and when she did, there was an alarm not to open the email, shut down the computer, and run a scan. Of course, I didn't know this for days. Please help! (Due to work, I probably won't be back for two days) Thanks.

There is probably one underlying problem that will solve all of this because it all started about the same time.

1. Drag and drop frequently stops working
Upon releasing mouse:

Releasing a favorite on the top bar of Chrome:

Dragging a picture and releasing anywhere (text also) in Chrome:

- Hitting ESC doesn't make it work again
- Dragging another item makes the previous "faded" one go away
- Hitting ESC while dragging stops the drag and doesn't leave a "faded" item, but doesn't fix the problem.
- Restarting the computer temporarily fixes the problem.

2. Bizzare Distortion in Windows Explorer window address bar

- Mousing over the weird-looking items next to "back" and "forward" causes them to look slightly different (re-rendering them) but they still look weird.
- Restarting the computer temporarily fixes the problem
- This is not a problem, but it may provide clues to what the underlying problem is.

3. Windows installer buttons "Next", and "Cancel" do not do anything upon click, but DO work on pressing ENTER. Then on the page to accept the license aggreement, the buttons (including the "Agree" radio button) are still un-clickable, but the Radio buttons don't work with ENTER (and next is grayed out, as expected).

- Already tried sfc /scannow, which didn't find any problems.

I would like to assist here.

In your case cleanwipe is the easiest way to remove SEP from the System but need to contact Support team to receive credentials to download the tool.
Manual uninstall process is quite time consuming however it can be used as a last resort.
Safe mode should help to remove SEP client completely.
Refer this article : How to remove SEP in Safe mode.
It's very important to know the SEP client version because many blue screen (BSOD) related issues are fixed in new SEP versions.

I bought a new SSD with the intention of using it for the main system partition.  As such, my intention is to use WinPE (e.g., supplied by the Automated Installation Kit) to produce an image of my present system from the hard drive.  Then following
instructions for use of the AIK I want to run the Windows 7 Installer using the install.wim produced for the current operational system.  This all works as expected until trying to run the Windows 7 installer and selecting the new SSD as the target for
the installation.  Windows 7 installer produces an error saying that Windows cannot be installed on the selected drive because it cannot be used to boot.  This is perplexing for several reasons.
1.  I thought one of the jobs of the installer was to make the installed system bootable.  What was I supposed to do to facilitate such?
2.  Even if the Windows 7 installer cannot make the new drive bootable, it was not my intention to boot from it.  I was expecting that the Windows 7 Installer would use the existing boot device (i.e., special boot/recover partition) and simply
add an entry to the current list of systems that can be selected during the boot process. Of course the error I received occurred prior to any attempt on the part of the installer to have me specify the desired boot device.  I don't use the installer
often enough to know how that is done but was expecting that I'd be able to select the boot device.

- Upon pressing ENTER on "Cancel" the confirmation box pops up asking if I want to close th... Read more

Run a full scan with Malwarebytes.

Where did you get Win7?

Is this factory preinstalled Win7, which is a corrupt install to begin with. If so look at Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Otherwise I'd consider a Repair Install if SFC /SCANNOW Command finds nothing.

I am having issues update my Windows Vista OS

In addition to the Modules Installer error, I have also received (although much less frequently) a WMI Provider Host stopped working error...

The only thing that changed with my system, and this was imediately before I started having issues, was I got new monitors.

I went from two generic 19" square LCDs to two 24" widescreen LEDs and I am running 1960x1080 now. I dont think that should matter but it is the ONLY thing that has changed.

This is a custom built PC and has been running stable for years.

Ok so, to begin, I run Windows XP Service Pack 3. About June 21, I installed CA Internet Security from the CD I bought. The next day, my computer started acting weird. The start menu/toolbar was missing, internet didn't work, when you opened programs they looked different, etc. I figured the problem was CA. I unistalled CA, Service pack 3, and IE8. I tried reinstalling Service Packs 2 & 3 but couldn't fix the problem. I finally found a registry repair program that found 2,000 errors, and fixed my computer. I reinstalled everything.

I've been getting "another installation is in progress" alerts when I try to install some programs. I tried using Computer Management, shutting off MSI, then restarting and turning it back on. But this fix only lasts for 2 days. I downloaded "Windows Install Clean Up", and deleted a part of CA that never re-installed June 23. Also, when I start my computer, 3 or 4 "Windows Installer" programs open themselves and I dont know what program its part of. Can anyone help me? Also, some System components haven't been working right since June.

Hi and welcome to TSG!

Too bad you haven't had the chance to read the many many threads about staying away from registry cleaners. 2000 errors removed!!! You may have damaged your registry beyond repair.

So I, today, reformatted my PC.

After installing some bare essentials (anti virus and firewall mainly) I then loaded up the website for windows update.

I was prompted to install service pack 3 (after the windows installer update), so I did before anything else. After I restarted, I went to the update site again to do the remaining updates, but after they were downloaded, every install failed.

The same is happening with the Windows Live Installer (as I wish to install windows live messenger). However, I could install Internet Explorer 8 and Windows Media Player 11 with no problems.

Any help would be much, much appreciated. Anything I can do to help with the troubleshooting, just say.

Thank you.

[quick edit: Windows was installed with a service pack 2 era disk. Home edition, too.]

[Edit: After doing the method in this post, it now works.]

I purchased a new notebook with Windows 7 in October. During the first weeks I uninstalled McAfee and replaced the harddrive. Since November Windows Update fails with error messages and defender does not start anymore. I made several virus scans (complete) with multiple antivirus programs but nothing showed up.Since it took my days to install various software, I do not want to re-install W7. I also have no good backup that I could restore. I am really surprised that there is not even a single entry regarding the error code in the Microsoft Knowledge base or elsewhere.I really would appreciate help.

If You are using notebooks with with hard drive larger than 700 GB you probably should update Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver.

Will appreciate any help regarding this issue.
My Gmail account is auto sending an email to all my gmail contacts without my knowledge until I saw reply posts of unsuccessful emails. Contents as such:
"Good Day.I just Uploaded a file,I would like you to view.Click Here to view. "
I too opened a similar email afew weeks back. Nothing seems wrong at first so I never really thought much about it.
Can someone help me on this?
I have just changed my password for my Gmail. hopefully it stops the sending. but I want to know if my computer is infected or by using smartphones or tablets, will it affect the gadgets too?
Thank you!

A:Gmail auto sending to my contacts, and auto deleting a virus link

A SPAMmer does not need access to your Gmail account in order to use your email address.
They can use whatever SPAM-sending program they like to send out email using *-your-* email address in the Sender's field.
Then, if any of the email addresses they sent the email to happen to be invalid, the unsuccesful delivery messages would be returned to you simply because your email address was in the Sender's field.
In order to stop this, you would have to find the person using your email address and hang them by the neck until dead. ;)

Does anybody else here have a weird issue with the Auto setting on the keyboard backlight where it only works when the auto-SCREEN brightness is disabled?  If both are enabled, the screen will auto change correctly, but the keyboard stays off all the time. It still works with Fn-Space for off-low-high, but no auto enable. If I disable the Auto-Screen Brightness in Windows, the keyboard auto will start working correctly. Enable both, shine a flashlight at the top left of the screen and watch the brightness go up/keyboard turn off. Turn off flashlight and screen goes down, but keyboard backlight doesn't turn back on. Then, turn off the screen auto-brightness and shine a flashlight. The screen will (obviously) stay the same, keyboard backlight turns off. Turn off the flashlight and the keyboard will fade back on within a few seconds. Doesn't matter what version of the Intel UHD driver is installed (23.20, 24.20.100, etc), it does the same. Newest Intel sensor drivers, newest PM driver, etc all installed. SIF has been reinstalled multiple times. Does it in both Win10 Pro/Ent 17134 and 16299. Reflashing the BIOS and ME has no effect, full CMOS clear has no effect, hooking a debugger to the light sensor data stream shows it's changing accordingly to brightness.

Have had Y410p for years without this issue. Now when I move the mouse cursor across the screen, it auto clicks/auto selects (without me tapping or clicking) and then release automatically as well. It will do this continuously as I keep moving the mouse cursor with the Touchpad. This is super annoying and causes multiple issues with my ability do most things on my Lenovo laptop. The two biggest problems are: click buttons which I do not intend and selecting/moving icons & screens which I do not intend. And it makes it nearly impossible to use the laptop for gaming. I have downloaded and reinstalled the Touchpad ELAN driver (version for my O/S Windows 8). I have gone through Mouse Properities setting and ELAN Smart-Pad settings. I have disabled Tapping, but does not make a difference. I have set Sensitivity to max Low and then max High, but does not make a difference. Any ideas on how to solve this particularly annoying Touchpad issue? Help please! Thanks.

A:IdeaPad Touchpad issue with auto-clicking/auto-selecting when moving mouse cursor

Disable TAPPING in the Synaptic control panel. See the screen shot via the Device settings tab and properties. TAPPING is unchecked - a useless feature and a easy way to wreck and operating system and/or loose files. Its far too easy to tap drag and drop a folder or worst without realizing it until its too late. If its a system fie/folder you likely won't boot the next time or you kill an application. I have been diabling this on notebooks for decades. DEADLY feature.

Don't know if this is normal or not, but my Windows Update is Forcing me to install Windows Installer 3.1 even though my setting is set to check with me before installing updates. It checks with me, and I can cancel, but in order to install further updates i must install the Windows Installer 3.1. I can't uncheck the 3.1 checkbox. Just figured this was kinda weird and wanted to get some input on the subject.

I think you just need the new installer to get the rest of the updates. After getting SP1 it always has me DL the new downloader.

Hey everyone,

I have sort of a weird problem going on and I am hoping that someone can come up with the solution.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1721. A few days ago, I decided I was done running Windows Vista and wanted to jump back to XP. I pulled out my Professional disc, and started it up. I formatted the hard drive and removed all partitions (which I now realize was a mistake). Shortly after installing XP, I found out that my video hardware (ATI Radeon Xpress 1270) and my audio hardware (SIGMATEL X-HD Audio) did not have a driver for XP and never would. So, I had to wipe XP and use Dell's packaged restore disc to get my computer back to Vista.

Then, the problem cropped up. Anything I download off the internet seems to give me an error, ranging from invalid checksum to corruption to NSIS. Note that programs that I downloaded on my first Vista iteration that were saved to my portable hard drive install without any issue. This happens with both Internet Explorer and Firefox. Initially, when I thought that I could fix the problem by downloading and reinstalling the Windows Installer Redistributable v3, I tried downloading it on another computer and moving it to here, but it gave me a different error that there was not enough space on the hard drive (there are 138 free GBs). I'll also note that in neither Dell's Vista disc nor the one I own did it install "installer.exe" to the C:\Windows directory.

I have tried everything I can think of, but so far nothing has ... Read more

Please HELP!

I ran Avast virus scan two days ago and it said that I had about 6,000 infected files. All of these files were from Windows\Installer\eo2dbd02-62a9-821b.....

the last remaining viruses it picked up were "Desktop.ini" and "Services.exe"

I successfully deleted the Windows\Installer Trojans but it was not able to delete the Services.exe. or Desktop.ini

I did not think much of it until today when I started up my computer and it froze. Now every time I restart it freezes as soon as I click on the desktop.

I tried to restore it from a previous version from two days ago and managed to do it successfully but a few hours later the exact same thing happens...it just freezes.

I also tried getting a clean "services.exe" file from my other computer which also has Windows 7 on it and switching it with the bad one...(I re named the bad one and copied the good one while in safe mode)......absolutely nothing happened it still freezes on startup.

Please help, I have a lot of important files on my computer and I do not have backup.

About a week ago, by mistake ,in All Programs, I clicked on MSN, next to the butterfly icon, and it started to install.
At one point, they asked me to insert the CD-ROM, which I don't have. Since I didn't want to install MSN anyway, I cancelled the installation.

But since then, everytime I start my computer, Windows Installer pops up for a couple of seconds, and then I get a window Solution Center
saying : The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-Rom or other removable disk that is not available.
Insert " Solution Center " disk and click OK.

Under that I see:
Bottom : Use source
1 and Browse

When I click on Browse, I get
File Name: Solution Center
File Type: Installation Package (*.msi)

I have to click 4-5 times on cancel before it goes away.

In Add and Remove Programs, next to the butterfly icon and MSN ,it says Size 24.39 MB and Used Rarely.

I don't know if removing that program, would help to get rid of the popups I mentionned above, and if it would affect any other Microsoft programs.
I have Windows Live Messenger that I would like to keep.

I sure would appreciate if you could help me to get rid of the pop ups.
(I'm not an expert with computers)
Thank you!
