Solved: Facebook Connection Issues

Q: Solved: Facebook Connection Issues

Like said in the title; it is close to impossible for me to connect to Facebook! I don't want any miss understanding I can occasionally connect, I want to stress the word "occasionally" because I've been trying for the past few months non-stop (when I say non-stop I mean for an hour or so until I give up) and when I do connect, which is about 1/10,000 attempts, it runs rather slow, like its struggling to stay connected, I've noticed a pattern that its somewhat easier ( I don't know if its just random statistical luck) to connect after 0:00 GMT.

Anyway, I've done the usual stuff like checked if I could connect using other web browsers ( I'm using Google chrome but I checked using Firefox and internet explorer) I couldn't connect on any of them and the problem is only with Facebook and my computer specifically. Other computers in the same house, and also my iPod, can connect to Facebook just fine. Also I've tried un-installing and re-installing Google chrome with no luck, I've looked up other solutions with no success such as going on internet explorer > internet options> connections > Lan settings and making sure some box in un-ticked. with no luck. I've even tried going on CMD and pinging Facebook and I'm losing no packets with a Min ping of 97ms and a Max ping of 98ms.

I've tried scanning for a virus with no success finding any, and I've even tried converting to religion and praying to god that my computer miraculously fixes, borrowed some holy water from the local church, and splashed the monitor with it; I've sang to it, and cooked it pop tarts (which may have made the matters worse).

Anyway!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have Norton Internet Security and Malwarebytes installed. Lost the ability to connect to the facebook server earlier this week perhaps after activating a purchased Malwarebytes.

Hi all,

For some reason, my browser (Chrome) cannot access the facebook website. I've tried using other browsers but am still unable to use facebook. However, I am able to access every other website except for facebook. I've tried using a proxy to access the website and I was able to do it but when I switch the proxy off, I'm back to square one.

I've tried going to the website on another PC with the same WiFi network and it works. I believe the problem lies with my computer itself. Is there any way to solve this problem?

I'm using a HP Pavilion dm3 Notebook PC that runs on Windows 7.

Thanks and regards

Hi, I'm having trouble loading pages such as facebook, The Escapist, Yahoo answers and upon further research all pages that have some form of login function. It is not a malware problem, it is not a slow internet connection, it is not a registry issue. I've run ASC scans and CCleaner, none of these are on my list of banned sites. There are no viruses on my computer, of this I am sure as the hard drive is two days old and fully protected, or on any of those in the house.

Facebook is particular takes several minutes to load then appears text only. I cannot navigate anywhere around the site from this text only version, nor can I engage in any interactions.

This issue is widespread throughout my household. All other computers in the house (2 PCs on Vista, a laptop on XP and a Mac with the latest... Mac OS thing) have the same issue. I'm at my wit's end.

Please help.
Dan

Edit: I should also state that I use Google Chrome, the other PC and Laptop use Firefox and the Mac uses Safari. There is no lack of disparity in search engines.

A:[SOLVED] Issues loading facebook, The Escapist, Yahoo answers...

If it affects all your computers on the network, then there is something wrong with your network, or your ISP. Have you turned off routers and modem, then turn just the modem back on, and after all it's lights have come back on, and stop blinking (this can take up to 10 min) turn your router on. Once it's on, then turn your computer one and try the site. If it's working then continue with each computer, one at a time. If this doesn't help, you need to call your ISP about the issue so that they can see if they have a problem with your modem, or their network.

hi i resently signed up with virgin media cable broadband (30 mb) and i have been experiencing some odd issues when it come to connecting to the router.

my laptop will connect wirelessly fine when it starts up buy if i try to connect manualy/ re-connect it comes up as an unidentified network (so no internet connection) the only way to solvle this is to restart the computer and let it connect automaticly. secondly when i tried connecting via an ethanet cable it also came up with an unidentified network.

my house mate on the other hand has a diffrent issue. his laptop will connect fine via the ethanet cable. he can connect via wireless but it keeps "lossing connection" (in commas due to a remaining connection with skype but no other internet features) this is only resolved when the laptop connected via ethanet cable where the whole issue is sorted for a short while.

any ideas as to what is going on here and how to resolve them.
on a side note the internet connection speed has dropped hugely from around 20 mb to 1-2mb this could be related but i doubt it

the router is the supplied virgin media superhub

thanks in advance for any help

i would check with virgin on the speed issues

as you have two machines - this may get confusing - so lets focus just on your PC for now

when its working post back an ipconfig /all , three ping tests, xirrus screen shot - and then repeat ALL the tests when it disconnects and post all results here
------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results in a reply here

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results to notepad and then automatically open notepad.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results to a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy
Now go back to the forum - reply and then right click in the reply box and paste

I am unable to connect to the internet while using my PC.

My network consists of the following: A Time Warner Cable modem, Linksys wrt54g Router (v8), a PC running Vista Home edition connected via Ethernet cable, and a PC connected using a Netgear Wireless USB Adapter WG111.

Basically, what happened was this.

I was connected to the internet on my PC by means of the Netgear adapter, when I discovered that I had been infected by some type of malware called 'Malware Defense'. It basically imitates Windows Defender, but is an obviously malicious program. It disabled my McAfee virus protection. It accessed the internet by itself and poured links to pornographic websites onto my desktop. Because this happened so rapidly, I sort of panicked and pulled out the USB adapter, thus disconnecting it from the internet. The problem with Malware Defense was ended for a moment, due to this, but now I can't access the internet.

At first I thought it was the security settings on the router. I even disabled all security all together. The computer still would not connect. The Netgear adapter acted as though it found the network, but it was just unable to connect. Occasionally I would get the status of 'limited or no connectivity'. Other times I would get the notice stating: "the settings saved on this computer do not match the requirements of the network.'

Other wireless things connect fine. My Nintendo Wii acessed the internet, as well as a friend's ... Read more

Try deleting the current connection. Then, from a command prompt:

netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

Reboot and try to create the connection again.

The problem may not be due to what you did at all since many malware types inactivate the connection so you can't download a fix.

I am having trouble with my internet. I can get onto explorer easy, but when I try to use programs that require a internet connection it does not work. Xfire, Steam, McAfee, Spybot, Gunz. None of these will connect. I checked my windows firewall and I have these all on the exceptions list. It was working fine last week until I crashed to a blue screen. Then the issues started happening. A little off topic, but maybe not, my ram is bad. Could that have effected the connection with these things? It was bad when it worked though.

We have an ASUS k72jr-c1 laptop that started having internet connection issues the last two weeks. It started with not being able to connect with public wifi. Now at home, I can restart the computer, it will connect to the internet fine, but after a while dropbox can't get a secure connection, webpages begin to not load all the time, and thunderbird can't connect. This morning I turned it on and it everything was fine for around an hour, then it lost the secure connection to dropbox. It is also causing problems connecting to game servers or in-game stores. (The desktop and ipads are not having any connection issues, so I'm pretty sure it's an issue with/on the laptop).

It's running Windows 7, which was last updated 7/12. I also ran a disk cleaner, backed up and fixed the registry, and a thorough virus scan, which was negative.

Control Panel/Internet Options/Connections/LAN settings has everything unchecked (saw that on another post).

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks.

Most of the time I am at a download speed of 80kb/s or slower (or none at all). Very rarely it goes up to 5-7mb/s (where it is supposed to be). It never stays anywhere near a constant rate.

I set the channel on the router as far from interfering networks as possible.

The 2 things I've noticed:

My IP address will not change after clearing and renewing it.

there is a ip6 tunneling interface that I don't remember setting up (and I don't know if the ISP, modem, and/or router are compatable).

It's a desktop PC running Windows 7. I have norton internet security. The router is a Linksys WRT54G running dd-wrt. Wired connections do not have the speed problems and I don't think other wireless devices do either (I've only used my phone to a short degree on the network and I haven't heard any complaints about my friends xbox).

some relevent info:

http://imgur.com/a/sH6Qj

Is the dhcp server in the router somethingI should have set up? do I turn it off? I had only previously used this router as a connection point using a cantenna, this is my first time using it as a router.

The tool the forum says to download and run just pops up a message that it's not a valid win32 application.

any help with anything to do with these issues would be greatly appreciated!

I have tried using two different ethernet cables, neither helped, it would show an established network but still unable to access any webpage. If anyone has an idea how to fix this, please let me know!

I am sitting in front of a Dell Inspiron 6000 running windows XP SP2. I am currently trying to connect to my wireless router, but the only thing this computer does is constantly aquiring network address. I have jumpped through tons and tons of forums. I have tried Run > CMD > netsh int ip reset.log & netsh winsock reset catalog, ipconfig /release /renew, downloaded WinsockxpFix and ran, restarting some Services in services.msc, removed all temp and cookie folder contents, ran AVG 8.0 & unupdated Malewarebytes Anti-maleware, used the Repair function many times, checked on if the laptop was set to use a Static IP or to have DHCP be automatic.... HULP!

And now... the wireless icon (windows default) stay's green and 'connected' to my wifi SSID but it just aquires network address for a few minutes then disconnects

I did overhear/read someone talking about their Norton internet security program was causing similar problems but I'd rather get more help before I start uninstalling programs.

I'm starting to get really lost with this problem. I ways trying to connect a game launcher and it wouldn't connect, and it won't connect to half of the websites that I am trying to access. With the launcher and game website I was reading that it could be something being blocked, so I uninstalled my anti-virus, which did not fix the problem (I have since then reinstalled). I can access things like facebook and such fine, but I cannot access many of the help sites I am trying to view. I get ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT or could not load page. I have tried a number of things myself such as:

(in command prompt)
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /renew
nslookup set debug

I am reading a lot of other stuff between the DNS and DCHMP or something and at this point I am out of my depth.

Hello,

The subject computer is cable connected. No network - except a LAN. No router. Maintenance neglected.

The problem is one of varying Internet accessibility. One minute it will connect the next it won't.

Trying to help a neighbour out two or three weeks ago and with very little experience of Win2k I found it heavily infected with viruses and trojans. I was able to install and update AVG. Some 70 viruses/trojans were quarantined and deleted. ASquared found several more and removed them. I did the usual cleanup routines, scanned and defragged the C: drive. It was working when I finished. AVG was set to run and update automatically. Windows Updates reported non needed.

Yesterday the on/off connectivity behaviour returned. My neighbour ran AVG -(which had run automatically some 12 hrs prior - a scan of the entire system and yielding no infections). This time he told me of infections (trojans) which had been quarantined and the deleted by him.

I ran Belarc and learned that many updates had failed to install. The Update site reports it is unable to display, after scanning, those updates available. I ran AVG - clean.

The only error message is the page cannot be displayed one. WinFixer is a regular pop-up.

Can Win2k be 'system restored'? Can its registry be restored? The WinME commands seem meaningless.

Any suggestions as to how I might proceed would be much appreciated.

Alright, about a week ago, Windows XP stopped connecting to the internet. My first instinct was to reset the router, check connections, and all possible hardware culprits. Everything was fine, though (including the drivers), and in the "local area network" it even shows the status as "connected," so XP is recognizing it. Also, on my Linux partition, I can still connect to the internet fine, so it has to be a software issue within XP.

I tried resetting the DNS by

Code:
ipconfig /release && ipconfig /renew && ipconfig /flushdns && iipconfig /registerdns
but this didn't change anything. Also I can't connect to Google via http://66.102.9.104, so it's not a DNS problem.

I checked the TCP/IP properties and made sure it was set to "obtain address automatically, which it was. I tried the "repair connection" option, but again, nothing.

I tried to reset the ip with

Code:
netsh int ip reset ip_reset.txt
, nothing. I cannot ping any outside ip's, and I cannot ping my router either.

Does anyone know what the problem is here? Is there a way I can reset all my connection settings or "default" it? Also, is it possible that some of the services involved in connecting to the internet could be disabled? I checked and they all seemed functioning, but I don't have all of them memorized, so maybe I'm missing something.

Thanks.

I have a Mac G4 with OS 8.6 (old-skool, I know) and I've been using Fetch 3.0.3 for 2 years now. In the last few days I have not been able to establish a connection. There have only been 2 websites that I always upload to and both are no longer working.

When I click File/New Connection it looks as though it's connecting because it goes through the same steps it always has before:

Connecting...
Getting info...
Getting dir name...
Getting file list...

And then it hangs on this for awhile (with the little doggie icon galloping away). Eventually I get one of 2 error messages:

1) Server file error: Data connection closed, transfer aborted

2) Server response: Can't build data connection: Connection timed out

This program was working smoothly a week ago and I've never had any problems before. Now this. I did not alter any preferences or change my internet configuration. I tried uninstalling Fetch and re-installing -- no success. I also downloaded the trial version of Fetch 4.0 and I get the same errors.

Anyone else encounter something like this? I'd appreciate any help. My fate is in your hands (as I have files to upload, pronto!)

I have two desktops, one running Windows 7 and one running XP. The XP rig has about 50GB of data that I want to transfer to the newer machine, and I also want a working LAN for gaming. The machines are connected directly to each other with a TP cable. I followed the recommendations I could find, made sure the machines are in the same workgroup, that the user accounts have the same name on both machines, and installed lltd on the XP machine.

I could always ping the machines IP (I have a fixed IP as the alternate config in XP, and as alternative config for TCP/IP v4 in win 7) from the command prompt. can get the machines to "see" each other on the network, at least partially. The XP rig lists both machines under "Microsoft windows network/entire network/workgroup name", but the win7 machines doesnt list the xp rig under "network". I can however see both machines under "see full map" in the network and sharing center (screenshot uploaded to imageshack). I cant access the XP rig from there.

Folks, hope you can help point me in the right direction on what I'm missing out here.

I have a setup of 2 routers:

Router1:
WAN IP: 170.x.x.x (connects to the Internet)
LAN IP: 192.168.1.1

Router2:
WAN IP: 192.168.1.2
LAN IP: 192.168.0.1

I have PCs in both the 192.168.1.x and 192.168.0.x segments. All PCs do not have any problems accessing the Internet.

The problem I am facing is that PCs in Router1 cannot access PCs in Router2. Conversely, PCs in Router2 have no problems in accessing PCs in Router1.

I was initially thinking the solution is to add a route definition in Router1: Route 192.168.0.0/24 through 192.168.1.2. But this is not working...Router1 PCs still cannot ping/see Router2 PCs. Been pulling my hair trying to get with no success at all.

Incidentally, from a PC in the 192.168.1.x subnet, doing a traceroute to 192.168.1.2 (Router2's WAN IP) doesn't work, but ping to 192.168.1.2 works. Not sure if this makes sense.

Please anyone can help shed some light on this? Thanks.

A:Solved: Two Routers Connection Issues

If you want everything on the same LAN don't daisy-chain the routers. Instead ...

JohnWill's procedure (Aug. 30, 2008) for configuring a secondary router as a switch and, optionally, wireless access point follows.

Connecting two (or more) SOHO broadband routers together.

Note: The "primary" router can be an actual router, a software gateway like Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing, or a server connection that has the capability to supply more than one IP address using DHCP server capability. No changes are made to the primary "router" configuration.

Configure the IP address of the secondary router(s) to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.100, I'd assign the secondary router 192.168.0.254 as it's IP address, 192.168.0.253 for another router, etc.

Note: Do this first, as you will have to reboot the computer to connect to the router again for the remaining changes.

Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router.

Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router, channels, encryption, etc.

Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If there is no uplink port and neither of the routers have auto-sensing ports, use a cross-over cable. [You will not need a cross-over cable if one of the "routers" is a comp... Read more

Currently i have a modem downstairs, inwhich a router is connected. From the router i have an ethernetcable that runs upstairs to my bedroom. This ethernet cable is attached to my PC and everything works fine. I am currently using my xbox downstairs connected to the router also. However i want to move the xbox up to my bedroom. The problem being that i only have 1 ethernet cable available in my room. (My parents object to another one being fitted. And wireless wont work in my house.)

I was wondering whether i would be able to connect the Ethernet cable in my bedroom to a second router and then connect my XBox and PC via the router. And whether i would be able to access the internet on both systems at the same time.

I was intially looking at an ethernet switch to acheive this as they seem cheaper, but i read that i wouldnt be able to access the internet on the second device.

If the router idea would work, would compatability be an issue (ie. would i need to buy the same router to the one i have downstairs).

Any help or suggestions are welcome. thankyou

Hi peoples new to this forum but seems like there are many experts which is what I need!

OK here goes....recently my ISP helpfully provided me with a new wireless router. I have a main pc running Windows 7 which is hardwired by ethernet cable. I then have 2 laptops running Windows 7 and 2 running Vista. Also 2 PS3's and 3 ipod touch all using the wireless router. Everything connected fine first time and works perfectly on the new router except one of the laptops running Vista. This just plain refuses to connect - when you add the connection it says "identifying network" for about 30 seconds then says "unidentified public network" and shows local access only with no internet. Normally when you connect to a new network for the first time on vista it brings up an option of "Home" or "Public" for the network. This didn't happen for some reason and now I cannot get out of this state. I have read that this can be caused by a firewall issue although this same machine was happily connected to my old wireless router and no settings have been changed! I have totally disabled windows firewall but to no avail. I have gone through all the windows troubleshooting but just keep going round in circles. Have also disabled the network adapter, uninstalled the driver, reinstalled, enabled but still keeps doing the same thing. This is driving me maddddd!!!!!

Btw spoke to my ISP who said that as the router is clearly working fine for all my othe... Read more

Welcome to TSG.
From the failing laptop, may we see :
Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Also, disable encryption on the router, and see if this makes a difference.

After trouble shooting on my own, I'm stuck. My current situation is that I have a Netopia (Cayman 3346) DSL modem-router (not wireless) that is connected to a (Linksys E100) wireless router. I currently run a small business that has two other computers connected through the Linksys router and are properly configured on the network.

Problems, Thursday night was the last time I could connect using the wireless connection. I cannot connect wirelessly now, but I can connect through the Netopia modem-router.

Manual Troubleshooting included:

-CMD for proper release/renew (IP shows 192.)
-Hard reset both modem and router.
-Manually configured the Linksys router.
-Called Netopia and manually configured modem-router successfully
-Again, computers hard-wired to modem-router will connect.
-Lights on Linksys router are lit and working properly (i.e wifi icon, power, and line 1)

Any ideas? I found in the Netopia settings of the WAN to be configured this way, should I change to IP Address?

Any help would be appreciated as my business is hindered by only having one computer operational.

EDIT: Here is a picture from the Netopia WAN configuration page

I am having difficulty remaining connected to my wireless network. If I am connected for a period of no less than a week, I will eventually lose connection for several days. One strange thing that also happens is that when I do try reconnecting to my network it stays connected for 30 seconds to about 1 minute. Another thing I sometimes notice is after getting disconnected and trying to immediately reconnect I will receive an ip address conflict message. I have looked in my router's setup page and have not found any ip address conflicts. I have also allowed the computer's MAC address in the router. There are 3 other computers connected to the network (not simultaneously) and they have no issues. I am also able to connect to a nearby unencrypted network without any issues. This problem has been occuring for around two or three weeks about 2 weeks after I upgraded from Vista.

Since installing a D-Link DIR-615 Wireless-N router (hardware revision E3, firmware 5.10NA) for a client her connection in Outlook 2010 (connected to her hosted Exchange account over HTTP/RPC) keeps intermittently dropping. This is reflected in the logs (Event Viewer): "Connection to Microsoft Exchange has been lost. Outlook will restore the connection when possible." followed by an entry seconds to minutes later, "Connection to Microsoft Exchange has been restored." There are hundreds of these entries in a small time span (4 to 8 hours).

I factory reset, re-flashed the firmware and factory reset again the router, but still have the connection issues. This problem was not happening with the previous routers in place (dying Netgear router and on loan Linksys WRT54G router). Furthermore, I set up her Exchange account and a remote network (also using Outlook 2010) which has a different router (D-Link DIR-655) and I didn't get the intermittent connection issues.

Any ideas?

Greetings!

I've been googling the crap out of how to resolve my wifi connectivity issue and so far nothing has worked. I have truely tried to self-service here and I am just not being successful, so I figured, welp! Time to consult the experts!! Would appreciate your insights!

Here are the computer specs:
Lenovo Thinkpad T530
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate, Service Pack 1, 64 bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3320M CPU @ 2.60GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 58 Stepping 9

Hard Drives: C: Total - 122001 MB, Free - 32053 MB;
Motherboard: LENOVO, 2392AQU

Summary of Issue:
Essentially, wifi disconnects frequently/intermittently, but only on my lenovo thinkpad. It is often enough that I have a huge ethernet cable that I drag through my house (obviously NOT something a laptop user should need to do!) My husband's laptop (different brand) connects wirelessly and seamlessly--no issues. His laptop, as well as my ipad, my Google Nexus 4 phone, my Kindle Fire and my work laptop....all of these have no issues....at least one of the other laptops is running on Windows 7 64 bit as well.

This is a new laptop and I have had the issues from the get-go. Here are the things I have already tried:
- Unplug router/cables/etc, wait over 10 minutes and then one by one, add power, then cable, ethernet, phone line back in

As you may have surmised, I updated Vista a couple of days ago with the most recent update (I don't remember exactly what I updated). I simply followed the recommended links, etc. Following that, I updated ZoneAlarm, also.

The day after the update, I noted that zone alarm was no longer on my computer (can't find it anywhere) and I no longer have the ability to connect to the internet. When I look at the Network Center and diagnose the problem the errors that come up are "the NVIDIA nForce Network controller is having having hardware or driver related issues" and "the Broadcom 802.11b WLAN is having hardware or driver related issues." I checked the WLAN switch....it's on.

For the life of me I can't figure out what's up. I checked on the drivers: I looked for an update on the computer and it says that both devices are running the optimal drivers.

Any ideas????

I'm assuming that you've been careful to NOT use key on one device and password-that-gets-translated-to-key on the other, and to use key1 (or key2 or ...) on both devices.

I contacted my support but they said it's working fine that they're able to connect to it via outlook and I can use webmail so it mus be someting wrong with my connection settings either through my firewall or router.

I disabled the firewall and it still didn't work... poked around in the router couldn't find anything to that would look like it would help.

Hi Everyone

I truly hope someone can help me figure out what is going on with my laptop
and its connections.

I recently reinstalled Windows 7 on my laptop, and everything has been working
smoothly and great, however a day ago the internet connection decided to stop
working, without me changing anything whatsoever. No new installs, updates etc.
Times like these i swear there are windows bugs just waiting to wake up and annoy
us

Im using the WIFI to connect to my network, and i can still see computers on the
network, but the internet doesnt work(has warning mark over signal strength).

It strangely enough does the exact same thing when i connect with a network cable
instead and turn off the wifi.

I feel it may be a driver issue or something similar as i saw warning marks in my network
controllers section of device manager recently, but it comes and goes.

I have a MSI CR620 Laptop with Atheros AR5B95, WIFI Module.

I have tried racking my brain as to why its connecting to the network, but not the internet.
All other computers linked via WIFI or cable to my router/hub works great, and as mentioned
the laptop worked perfectly until just yesterday.

Any advice, suggestions, methods?

Greatly Appreciated

Recognizes that Network adapter is "Wired" hence the ethernet cable.

Then goes onto checking for IP address and FAILS.

Dunno what to do to get this working, any help would be much appreciated.

Hello all. I have myself a rather vexing issue going on with my operating system (XP x64 Edition SP2) that has me baffled, especially since it has survived an almost foolproof barrage of fixes.

Basically, I noticed very recently that one of my programs that requires an internet connection is unable to connect to the internet, despite having worked fine for almost 2 years now. I blew it off at first, and when I went back again to try it I had the same problem. I ended up downloading another, similar program, and had that problem again. I noticed after this, that some of my games (and other applications) that require an internet connection to update and the like, also are now unable to connect to the internet to perform their functions. Even one of my malware scanners, which requires that it is up to date before being able to run, could not update itself (I manually updated it).

Not sure if this is relevant, but my clock was reset by itself to July 1st 2005, and after I manually reset it, it didn't change itself back (yet).

So in a nutshell, I did some research and found one other guy with a similar problem to my own, which he identified as a worm in his WINDOWS registry. He didn't specify how he removed it.

I've since run my anti-virus software (BitDefender), CCleaner, Ad-aware, Malwarebytes, Spybot S&D, HijackThis, and am currently scanning with SUPERAntiSpyware and I've had no luck. Malwarebytes discovered some potentially false positives ignored by Ad... Read more
