X230t F1 fuse value?

Q: X230t F1 fuse value?

Brief history: Vertical artifacts on LCD. Checked if cables are seated behind LCD but forgot battery in. Backlight no longer worked. I've opened up and tested all the fuses I could see for continuity. The only blown one I could find was F1. Does anyone know its value or typical LED backlight fuse ratings? I would rather replace it than short it. The board is an 04Y2040 i7-3520M Tested fuses and status: (?=no continuity)(?=fuse not found)(?=continuity)F1 ?F2 ?F3 ?F4 ?F5 ?F6 ?F7 ?F11 ?F12 ?F13 ?F14 ?F15 ?F16 ?F17 ?F18 ?F19 ?F20 ?F21 ?F22 ?F23 ?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, on hindsight I should have asked this question at this forum first. But I was tired from doing all the researching and bit on an old x230 convertible laptop off ebay that supposedly has core i7 3520M, 4gb of ram, and 160gb ssd. It has been upgraded to windows 10. It has not arrived yet. At around $200, it seemed to me like a steal for the specs. I do think that these specs were user-upgraded and not factory-made so I cannot speak for the quality.I read rave reviews about this device, however, most were from several years ago. I never owed a device with this specs or a touchscreen laptop for that matter so I do not really know what to expect.I guess I will start out to see if anyone still second this as a solid convertible laptop in today's standard. Does windows 10 run well on it? Seem like a lot of people run into problems when upgrading to windows 10? Is there anything special about the touchscreen or is it just obsolete technology nowadays? I mean the most resource intensive thing I will do on this laptop is just playing some online flash games so I think it is way less than what it is capable of. I was just looking for a laptop that is upgradable and can stay relevant for a long time so did I make the right call? Any feedbacks are appreciated!

My motherboard will power on for 3 seconds and then blink orange lights... I took it apart and replaced a few capacitors but that did not work.

It is not the fan.. and I removed every component I could. It is basically just the motherboard and the two main chips..

The motherboard belongs to a toshiba x205-sli1

I think it might be the fuses... but does anyone know how to test them??

And if they test bad how do you replace them?

A:How to test a fuse...

Motherboard fuses can be replaced just as easily as a capacitor. The recommended way to test if the fuse is good or not, is to remove all solder from the board fuse location pins and then test resistance with the fuse out of the board's circuit . Just use a multimeter (ohmeter) and test for resistance across each side of the fuse. Most meter's have a little button that looks like a single volume button, press this and it should beep when you have no resistance, if you have no resistance on the fuse, it means your fuse is good (i.e. you get a beep). If you don't hear a beep and your resistance is like 10, 20, 100, 200+ ohms then you have a blown fuse. You will probably have to buy the replacement fuse online, but Radio Shack might have it.

The problem with troubleshooting a motherboard is that it can be quite complex. There is typically no good method to follow unless you are extremely electronic capable.

I would start by following the power through each supply/segment. I have seen problems like this in the past be related to power supply failures, not motherboards. Motherboards do fail, yes, but a more common issue would be a power issue in the board.

What I would do is test the power board power supplies, the problem is, the only way to do this is with the laptop power on. That is NOT RECOMMENDED, it is not really dangerous, since it's only 19VDC @ 60/70 Watts, but it is a good way to mess up your computer if you're not aware of what you're... Read more

Guys, please help me to identify which one is the fuse in my monitor! There is no display on my monitor screen and it's blank. Also, I noticed that the power LED on the monitor has no light. I know that my system is working because I can see my CPU fan running and it works well with other monitor. I guess that the fuse was blown. But, I just not sure which one is the fuse.....
I've taken a picture of my monitor circuit board and uploaded at this url. Please check it out!

http:[email protected]/4720367606/

I believe that the fuse could be the one located at A, B, C or D. Based on the shape, I guess that A is the monitor fuse, but it seems like there is no way to loose or remove it. Please show me which one is the fuse, and also let me know how to remove this stubborn thing. THANKS!!!!

A:HELP ME!!! where is the monitor fuse....

The part marked "A" is a fuse. It is soldered to the circuit board so you might want to test with a multimeter to see if it is blown before you have somebody replace it.

When I switch the PC on , the 5 amp fuse in the plug blows! This does not happen always, but has occured 3 times so far in the last 4 weeks and is worrying. It happens only when the PC is turned on using the main switch at the back of the PC. If this switch is left in the "on" position all the time and the PC is turned on using the press-buttton in the front, the problem does not arise! Any ideas please?

Hello Everyone, I recently dropped my x230T in my bag and although it and the hard drive was fine, I have noticed the fan goes to full speed whenever I boot the laptop or do anything, regardless of usage. The only thing that can calm it down is lenovo power manager when it boots in Windows but only barely. Any slightly cpu intesive task, the fan goes back to full speed. Any other OS, such as linux Mint, the fan will continue at full speed.  Has anyone encountered this issue before or has any advice on how to further diagnose the issue?  Kindly Appreciated,Adam

Hello people of the Lenovo forums. A friend of mine just gave me his Lenovo x230t, it looks like he tried formating it and handing it over to me but he didn't install all the drivers or what not. The laptop itself is from France (french keyboard) and I think when he installed the windows it was in french as well, I changed the setting and made it so everything is in english but when I installed the Lenovo System Update app it installed it in french and I cannot change it, same goes for Realtek. I went through this websites find and recommed me stuff to install, and it did install all the intel drivers and a bios update also I myself installed the driver that activates the tablet keys (screen rotate, task manager). My question is should I just clean install all over again? I got the windows key here so should I just reinstall the whole PC? its new so I got nothing important on it. If so, how should I go about it? I don't have the windows disk or any other driver disk. Another issue is that I cannot use my fingers on the touch screen, it only works with the stylus. I've seen people online scrolling through web pages and PDF using their fingers in touch, also using some other cool functions like opening all the curret apps in a scroll by pressing 4 fingers against the screen. Do I need to install a certain driver to do it? if so where? Sorry for writing so much and thank you for taking the time and reading it.I apologize if I broke an... Hello and welcome,

I'd be inclined to do a clean install, followed by System Update.  Since Win 10 has already been activated on that machine you likely won't need the key.

You can download Win 10 direct from Microsoft.  I haven't looked at the MS tool lately and don't know if the download varies by version (Home, Pro, ...) but if it does pick the one that matches your key.

Has anyone had any issues upgrading their x230T from Windows 7 to Windows 10? The installer demanded that I uninstall my Wacom ISD driver before upgrading, and I want to make sure there are available Wacom pen drivers for Windows 10. In addition, does the rest of the x230T features work with Windows 10 (i.e. trackpoint, fingerprint reader, volume/microphone, screen rotate, and ThinkVantage button)? I shut off my monitor and turned it back on ...to see if my desktop would come...(it usually works) but this time it didnt. This happened before....back when i had the warranty they said that the fuse blew...and replaced it.

I want to know where I can purchase a fuse from and how much it'll cost me.

Hello all. I have read that it is possible to replace a fuse in a power supply. I love this power supply ( http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000G7WZFA/themussou0551776-20 ), so I want to try to save it. I see a tiny fuse that appears to need soldered to replace. Do you think there is one there maybe hidden?

A:Power supply fuse

There is usually ony one fuse. You can replace it with one that has the same amperage rating (also note whether it is fast or slow blow). However, remember something made it blow in the first place. After replacing the fuse I would test it before re-installing in a PC.

I was testing a used hard drive in an auxiliary connection to my Pavilion p6670t.  My mistake was disconnecting it before powering down the computer. Pulling the drive's power connection, I got a spark and the computer shut down.  The computer won't turn on although a few LEDs still light up.  I am hoping I blew a fuse in the power supply.   I have not removed or opened the power supply, but there's no fuse apparent from the outside.  Of course there's one of those annoying stickers telling me I void the warranty if I open it--but I probably already voided the warranty by zapping something anyway.Any advice? Will I find a fuse in that metal box, or do I need a new power supplyThanks

A:Is there a fuse in my power supply?

Hi, Yes, a PSU has fuse in it but in your case I can't see anything wrong with the unit itself because the LED's still light up. Anyway,  please read it to find out where is the fuse & post back your result.   http://www.techrepublic.com/article/learn-to-re-fuse-a-power-supply/1053277 Good luck,

Are my three copies of Win 7 RC going to last me until I have the official copies in my mitts (Oct 26?) or are they going to expire leaving me without OS's on the three machines my wife and I use every day?

If an early demise is coming, is there any way to get an extension to carry me through to the mid October date?

Hi and yes you can extend the time limitation for up to 120 days by using the re-arm feature every 30 days (max 3x). pretty easy. At the end of the original 30 days you simply type slmgr.vbs -rearm. I've been reading all the forums here daily trying to get a little educated.
A month and a half or so I had problems microsoft seemed to take care of.
I had a ton of desktop files notepad with all kinds of things in it all over in my puter. Everywhere from documents to pictures and everywhere else. We thought it was fixed. We redid my system and lost some stuff, changed firewall and anti virus and even went to DSL. First I've got Spybot S&D,ad-aware,spysweeper,microsoft anti spyware, and the little program in Trend PC-cillin. Like on another thread I also did a Pandasoftware scan last night. It said I had spyware "Mediatickets" but nothing else picks it up. I even looked through the registry for its taces and found nothing. Today ran it again it added ISTbar but nothing else finds it. I had a froend run panda and his also came up with "Mediatickets" also found in the registry.
Panda also scanned 276,000+ files in my puter. I know I shouldn't have that much since I use and have only the basics. How can I see what all is here I don'tknow about? I have ran scans daily or even more often.
Next step is 45 pistol target practice on this computer.

Hello all. My X230T screen had dead pixels, and laptop was under warranty, lenovo came and changed it.but only a few months after my screen started doing that depending of the inclination. if I move it, it change the "band" color, and on some position, it works OK.  I found on aliexpress replacement panels for 50$. Before buying it, I have few questions. 1) My screen has scratches. Is the panel I will buy will directly replace the one that is there, or is there a "glass" in front that I should replace at the same time, or is it the touchscreen ?I imagine there is a protective glass in front because there is the "lenovo" sign showed for instance and it's not present on the panel, and it seems to be same part. To said it other way (sorry for my english), when I put my finger on the screen, do I touch directly the panel (that will be replaced) or is there any sort of covering glass in front? 2) I think some screen problem like this can be due to a faulty cable, but from what I read the problem would be on whole screen, not only on a line like it is now. Can anyone confirm this ? 3) If indeed it's the panel that is defective, in this kind of situation is it possible to "fix" the panel, like I don't know, putting something to "push" on the false contact so the contact stays ?  4) My panel is LP125WH2-SLB3. I have built a couple of gaming PC's before and this is by far the weirdest problem I have had!

The system boots fine however when it reaches a certain stage of the Windows 8 install to the SSD it suddenly fails and cuts off and refuses to boot up for a while (fans do about one rotation and then power cuts out again when power button pressed).

Now I read around and found this is probably something shorting some piece of hardware in the system so it cuts off to save itself. Once or twice when I turned on the switch at the mains with the psu switched on the fuse for my desk sockets blew.

My question is how would I go about diagnosing and ultimatly fixing this issue as I am not able to do some pieces of work without my desktop. ?

My Hardware is:

-Corsair TX850 PSU

-Asus Sabertooth x79 mb
-Asus AMD Radeon HD 7970

Hello there,

The PS is 450w and I have an athlon 2400 processor and 192MB RAM
Do you think the power supply is inadequate as I have upgraded it recently and it doesn't blow the fuse as often now but it still does it when using alot of memory. I have tried it in different sockets and have the same probs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mitchy

The motherboard and cpu is about 6 years old, but the graphics card is only about 3 years and the PSU is a good one from corsair.

Power supply. Anything internal would have toasted the power supply and/or it's internal fuse. If a circuit breaker tripped, there is a fault on the circuit. Assuming the fault is the PC, it's the PC power supply. If you are lucky, it didn't damage any other hardware when it failed. Most often, that is not the case.

Does the DMP300 have a user-replaceable fuse, and if so, what type and where is it located?

Friend's trying to get one working again for an older computer he also has, and commented it acted like a fuse had blown.

I just finished burning a DVD on my LG burner, and then started to burn the label with Lightscribe, but it couldn't find any LightScribe drives. I then noticed that the activity light on the LG kept blinking and then found that I couldn't open the drive, so I rebooted, thinking that would release it, but it didn't. I had to remove the DVD with a paperclip.

I then continued to reboot, but the drive detection seemed to freeze much longer than usual, and then Windows froze at the startup screen. I shutdown and disconnected the drive, which seemed to fix the problem, though boot time was still a bit longer than usual.

I then started to attempt to burn the label again, with my Samsung burner, but again the LightScribe labler said that it didn't see any LightScribe drives.

Even though the LG is the newest drive, the SamSung is not all that old itself, and I can't imagine why they both would decide to act up simutaneously. The Samsung is operational as far as reading disks (I didn't test it for burning), so would anyone have any idea of what the problem might be...besides gremlins?

Have you tried disconnecting the Samsung and then rebooting to see if the boot is still slower than normal? Also try the LG drive again with the Samsung disconnected. I've seen cases where the drive that is suspected of being the problem isn't the one with the problem but another device is the problem.

I guess this is a very old thread, but I am having the same problem with my ThinkPad T520.
The battery is fine, but it will not power the laptop. I'm thinking it may be a pico fuse on the motherboard.
Turning the laptop off for a few minutes as suggested does not work. Taking the battery out and pushing the power button for 30 seconds does not work. Buying a new battery just because Lenovo says my old one is dead does not work for me.
Anyone else having similar problems?

Hello all thinkpaders! I'm thinking of purchasing a X230 tablet but the only thing that's stopping me is that I'm not sure if one can swap the keyboard of it with the one from its older brother the X220 tablet.Thank you all in advance.

I have been trying to upgrade WIndows 10 Pro on my x230T to the Fall Creators update (1703 or 1709).  But each time it gets to 27%, it does its first reboot and then crashes and rolls back the installation. Microsoft support spent a bunch of time on it, and they couldn't get it to work.  They pointed me to the Lenovo Support page where it wasn't mentioned in the list of tested machines.Has anyone with an X230T get this update installed?

A:x230t, upgraded to msata, trying to get second hdd to work

Hello and welcome,

1st: your subject and content don't seem to match.  Do you in fact have multiple drives installed? Which one holds the OS you're trying to update?

2nd: are you trying to do the update via Windows Update?  Sometimes downloading the full installer and running setup from that - or even creating bootable media and running that - can get around WU failures.

Sorry I can't address x230t specifics.

Z.

The Lenovo System Update utility wants me to apply two updates which it flags as critical.  One of these is a BIOS update to version 2.65.  Oddly, the Drivers & Software page here lists different updates as "Critical".  For example, it only offers me BIOS version 2.64.  Since no one ever responded to my earlier question about a BIOS update, I am still using (legacy) BIOS version 2.52 and running Windows 8.1. The information I have found about the offered BIOS update to version 2.6x refers only to UEFI BIOS.  Since I am using legacy BIOS, can I safely ignore it? System Update also offers me a "critical" Power Management driver (which is also not listed as critical for my X230T on the support page), but in the details it says that it may not be needed.  How critical is that?Is the general philosophy of "never touch a running system" espoused by Lenovo telephone support justified, or should I be more aggressive in applying updates?

What is the model type of your X230t?, ie 20F6?I find a typo error on the support page for a X230T bios...The ISO is gcuj25us.iso.The update utility is gcuj25us.exe [support page states this is 2.64, which is wrong].-> Both are version 2.65The update is marked critical due to a security exposure in 2.64.The readme, which you should read, states:Security fix addresses LEN-8324 System Management Mode (SMM) BIOS Vulnerabilityand some security fixes.==Lenovo Power Management Driver 09/07/2016 readme states:Problems fixed]Fixed Lenovo Platform Service high CPU usage issue. It shows on the support page as "normal", but flagged "critical" in system update. When a update is released to the support page, someone states normal/critical.Then the update is sent over to SU quality folks to test further, and develop "SU install wrappers" for SU to use  for the update.  For this update, SU folks set the wrapper as critical.=============Update your machine:(1)If it aint broke, dont fixit. [all readme.txt state this](2)If a BIOS update readme states security fix, you should update it.The update may fail; you could leave well enough alone, with the security exposure.(3)Power management driver.  Readme states high cpu.You could leave well enough alone, if you do not experience high cpu.Support page states normal; SU states critical.=The bottom line, read the readme.txt and decide what you decide to do with the update.  As always, take a restore poi...
