Internet Explorer cookie error!!

Q: Internet Explorer cookie error!!

hey guys,

internet explorer seems to be having some trouble keeping cookies after i have started to delete them frequently. what happens is that after i post at forums or mark things as read it doens't show this on my browser unless i refresh it a couple times and even then it doesn't show it happening. this just started happening, there are no viruses on my computer and for about half a year it didn't do this. anyone here know what is wrong? thanks.

Preferred Solution: Internet Explorer cookie error!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm running Win98 with IE 6. For the past week or so, when I log on to emusic.com the next page (after the login page) shows nothing but code. I cut and pasted it and sent it to their help person, and she said it looked like it's posting my cookie information to the page. She gave me a few things to try, such as, deleting my cookies, checking my security settings, etc. I tried everything she suggested, but it didn't fix the problem. The only change I've made that I can think might have started this was downloading the latest security patches from Microsoft's Windows Update page.

Here's part of what appears on the page:

!HTTP/1.0 302 Moved Date: Sun, 13 Oct 2002 19:29:52 GMT Server:

Why do I have a cookie problem only when trying to log on to eBay? It keeps telling me that "this computer is not accepting cookies". This is the only site that does this. If I change my password and then try to log on - it accepts it! Are there any settings that I can change to solve this?

There is a website that users login in to resolve remote issues,

I determined the issue is caused by a cookie the website drops into IE Temporary Folder.
As I delete that cookie and the login screen again appears and they can login, but process repeats when they logout.
I searched the Internet and found the following batch file that will delete all cookies....

Hi.. I don't know if this is the right section, please correct me if it's wrong. Here is the problem:

My Internet Explorer 7 gives the error: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". I cannot complete the troubleshooting. It states that there might be a problem with my firewall settings. But my Firefox works perfectly on this computer. I have completed all the steps given in this link. However, it didn't work. I cannot run MSN right now because of this. And this is not a problem that developed recently, on this computer I have never managed to run Internet Explorer.

And another point to mention: Whenever I try to visit a site via IE7, before giving "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error, on the status-bar I see a warning for a second such that a "dns error" or something.

I have also searched this forum for this, I have found some posts consisting HJT logs but could not reached a solution for my problem. Could you please help? Thank you.

Hi all,
I just upgraded to Windows 7 ultima and it has IE8 with it, when i had vista running (IE7) i could save the cookies for sites i visited all the time in the allow part of ccleaner, so every time i clicked hotmail, lets say, i would log straight in.

Now, i have done the same for IE8 except even though ccleaner has saved the cookies i have allowed, IE8 never remembers my log in details so i have to log in to about 8 different sites everytime i shut down/switch on.
Where do i set this option up in IE8 please ?

thanks so much for reading and for anyhelp.

A:Explorer 8 cookie saves?

Under internet options then under privacy then advance. Pretty much the same as prior IE. There are some new security features though. You need to read though what you want to use in IE8. Or just use Firefox or even test that out with what your doing. Make sure you got the latest Ccleaner. You may also want to try instead of Ccleaner is Fcleaner.

Hello everyone and thank you for participating in this wonderful site.

My computer is a Pentium 4, 2.80 GHz, Running Windows XP Proffessional Version 2002 Service Pack 2.
The problem I'm writing about has been there for about a year. All in all it's the same prolem ever since, but every once in a while some detail changes, like a new error message.
Every about 5-15 minutes the Start Menu Taskbar and the desktop icons disappear (Explorer crushes). Most of the times they reappear shortly after, but sometimes they don't, and then I use task manager to run explorer and then they reappear. Yet, sometimes the computer stucks altogether, and I have to restart. In addition to that, many popups open when I surfe the web using Internet Explorer. The popup changes every few days, but in between it's always the same one.
Another point is that while the crushing of explorer can occur anytime, it most often occurs while I open or close Internet Explorer windows.

Sometimes I get an error message, and as I said, they change from time to time. But still, here are 2:

Dear Tech guys,
I badly need your support. Day before yesterday (01-Aug-06) night I upgraded the yahoo toolbar and used their norton anti spy to scan. Then I shut down the system and started to work the next day. Every thing is perfectly ok except for one thing. In Windows Explorer, on any folder or drive if I double click or open I get a crash. If I do explore then there is no problem.

Below is the dialog that comes whenever we double click or open (for eg: on C:\ or any folder in the left side pane of the windows explorer. If I just keep expanding the + of the tree no problem, only on clicking the item to open the following error occurs.)

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

program: C:\Windows\Explorer.exe

This Application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I am running on Windows XP SP 2. I dont have google toolbar. I have yahoo tool bar installed. I have tried uninstalling it and installing it again and other combinations as well.

I have also tried sfc /scannow as well. It did not work.

It doesnt look like any adware or spyware (yahoo's norton spyware had done a complete run and no problems in the system as reported by them).

What should I do now to get back to normal operation of windows explorer.

Thanks and Regards,

A:Windows Explorer Runtime Error (not related to Internet Explorer)

I would un-install the Yahoo Toolbar and then put Google Toolbar in, Then I would try to download .NET framework 2.0

Last week my computer had a virus that I successfully removed using Malwarebytes. Since then I have been unable to access the internet using my default browser Google Chrome (instead I receive a 'This Webpage is not available.' message with the error: Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED): Unknown error.

Or with internet explorer where the following message is received: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.

Yet it works fine with Firefox. I then tried signing in via Windows Live Messenger where it failed and upon doing the connection troubleshooter received an exclamation mark next to the proxy and key ports sections.

Is there any way for me to fix it so that I can have normal internet access? One major problem right now is that I cannot even upload pictures via Photobucket or even e-mail where Google Chrome gives the message: Attachment failed. This may be due to a proxy or firewall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

- Cannot open Skype (I found this was linked to the IE problems): When I open Skype, the login page stays on a white screen, and i am unable to click anywhere on skype / close it, I have to force close it by ending the process (Temporary solution found, look below)

So I've been trying to fix this for more than 20 hours now and I haven't made the slightest bit of progress.

The issue:

The update "Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 x64" fails with error code 9C59. Currently installed is IE9.
The update "KB2670838" fails with code 80004005. Google reveals that this update is a requirement for IE11.
After attempting to install such an update, "TrustedInstaller.exe" remains active with high CPU usage and high and steadily increasing memory usage. I think I know the reason for this. The "update posting information" thread tells me to post the folder with CBS logs. However, after I try (and fail) one of the two updates (or both), the CBS.log file keeps increasing with about 1mb per second which never stops, eventually growing to many gb. I think this is the reason for the "TrustedInstaller.exe" CPU usage and memory usage.

Because of this problem it's hard for me to send you CBS.Log because it's far too big. Thus, I'll attach a zip containing one of the "CbsPersist__.cab" files instead - most of them were still too large. I also included 3 other files found in C:\Windows\Logs (not in the CBS subdirectory), they're related to IE11 so I thought they could be relevant.

Things I've tried:

sfc /scannow; gives no errors at all, no integrity violations found.
chkdsk /f; took around 4 hours, changed nothing. As far as I could tell it didn't find many issues.

My husband, who thinks he knows a lot about computers, but DOES NOT, has been entering the Temporary Internet file, and Cookie file, and deleting things without I imagine, even completely understanding what he is doing. The other night, he deleted some things while my 16 year old daughter was in the room, and she tried to get him to stop because she said , although she couldn't see the whole thing, a box popped up that said removing this might be harmful to the computer. My husband still removed it, telling her he "Knew what he was doing." The next day, I had numerous problems with the computer, including an inability to get a dial up connection, once I did get one, I could not get a lot of our pages to open, and several other things. My son ran Ad Aware, Spybot, and Clean Up, in case we had gotten something on the computer, but it didn't help, and he had to do a Systems Restore. My daughter then told us that my husband had been removing things from the computer. My son said to check here, and see if there was anyway I could add those files to the ones that only the Administrator could tinker with. A friend of his online last night said for me to just drag those items into my Administrator files, but my son was not sure if this would work, and doesn't want us to screw around with the files if it wasn't ... A:Can I password protect the Temporary Internet files and the Cookie file?

My, you do seem to be having problems. The answer to your question is that you can only protect folders that are in your user profile. Folders such as Internet Temporary Files and Cookies are common folders and therefore accessible to anyone. However, deleting files from these folders is unlikely to cause the problems you describe. I routinely clear out my temp files and cookies. It just means that for those websites where, for example, passwords are needed, you will have to re-enter them rather than it being done automatically, but it wouldn't stop access to sites. It's more likely that system or program files are being altered or deleted. If your husband is a restricted user, he shouldn't be able to alter these. If you've got problems with your computer you can try doing a system restore. Do you know how to do this?

Hello All!
I am hoping to get some help here. We purchased several new hp that run windows xp. I have swapped out 3 so far, and followed the instructions to hook them up to my network (which is fine) but I cannot get out onto the internet now. I have looked at my other computers that have not been swapped out yet and that have internet access and there doesn't seem to be any difference in the internet or network properties. Does anyone have any ideas? I have been trying to fix this off and on for over a week and needless to say am getting a little cranky. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are they able to see other computers on the network? Do you need any proxy settings set in IE?

The nvtrpdemux.ax stands for Nvidia transport demux, which I think is a Windows media player plug-in file. Do you have Nvidia pure video decoder installed?

I've got a problem with internet explorer, I've got internet banking access and previoiusly I was able to print web pages from the tool bar with no problem now every time I go to print explorer shuts down and says an error has occurred that's all the info it gives me. I've tried reinstalling my printer, I've even tried restoring windows but that hasn't made any difference can anyone help.

A:Internet explorer - error can anyone help

First of all I think that your printer is working properly. To verify try printing any word document. If it prints , then your printer is o.k. If not then reinstall your printer. Your internet explorer might have been corrupted. Try to fix it by going to http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm or http://www.theeldergeek.com. Please see attachments for files and info!!!

Please mention ur systems information on the next post!!!!!

I forgot to mention that I have windows 98 (yes, I know I need to upgrade) and I also have LSPFix downloaded (althought I'm not sure what to check or remove) and hijack this. I've run a hijack this scan but do not see anything in particular that jumps out as "the culprit."

I just re-installed my operating system (WinXP Home) because I had virus issues that consequently crashed my PC. Anyhow, now that I reloaded the OS, my internet explorer has issues. I double click on the icon and it opens the browser but then immediately minimizes and disappears. I noticed that minimized window on the toolbar states: something about Home Page Redirect. I attempt to change the home page on Internet options but it seems to happen again! Any suggestions? I was going to try another browser like Firefox or Netscape...Please help!

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Double click on the program to run it.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. Open up the result.txt file created. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

What happens when you try to open IE? Any error messages?

If you try to uninstall IE from the Add/Remove Programs - it will automatically revert you to the previous version of IE. What is the exact error message you get when you try to do this?
