ThinkPad X1 Carbon 6th Gen 2018 Shipping Estimate, from 3 weeks to 5~7 days?

Q: ThinkPad X1 Carbon 6th Gen 2018 Shipping Estimate, from 3 weeks to 5~7 days?

I ordered the HDR / 16GB / 1TB model on March 6, 2018 with expedited shipping. The shipping estimate is 3 weeks (March 28) at time of checkout. But I noticed the shipping time has decreased to 5-7 business days on Lenovo's website since March 9. Does this mean my order will get shipped sooner? However, the estimated shipping on my order detail page still shows March 28. Thank you!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I ordered an X1 Carbon 6th gen custom build. I added 500 nit screen. Order placed May 30th.Original estimated shipping date June 8th.After 4 delays and counting,Estimated shipping date is July 16th.I spoke to 4 customer service reps, all of whom made false promises to me and were just concerned with their rating at the end of the call.As a seasoned Lenovo customer. I am very disappointed.  Edit: I am contemplating cancelling my order.

Allow me to continue the annual tradition of basically copying last year's shipping thread!  Copied from 2017 shipping thread,  here are some common points of frequent discussion: How to get a system fast: Buy an in-stock standard configuration from Lenovo or a Lenovo Partner in your area. Customized systems take longer.Avoid Credit Holds - ensure that BOTH your bill to and ship to addresses are listed with your CC bank before orderingLenovo will not bill your card until order ships - an authorization charge hold to check for available balance may show up when order is first placed.Estimated ship dates are based on default lead time and can vary from what was displayed on website. In the US and Canada, Lenovo utilizes UPS for new product shipmentsOrders may ship before the Estimated Ship DateOrders may enter through Alaska and pass through Louisville, KY before traveling on to final addressCancellation requests may take up to 2 days to processRequests to change configuration or other aspects of the order may require the order to be rebooked.Lenovo does not accept payment via international credit cards, except AMEX. ---Here's my shipping story so far:Ordered an X1 Yoga 2018/8th Gen (top spec) in the US on March 8, along with a TB3 dock and an extra power adapter. Dear Readers, I am planning to buy a new Thinkpad T serie 14 inch and I am wondering which model I should pick.By any chance, does anybody know which housing (chassis) has the best build quality in terms of thermal design and fan noise? In other words which of the three housings will be running the coolest and quietest? Is it a good reason to think it should be the t480 because it has more room for airflow? Thank you in advance!

Hello fellow Dell users,
Apologies if this is not the best place to ask this question, I didn't know where else to ask. I shipped a refurbished Dell back to an authorized reseller, who said it was damaged by USPS' shipping.
The seller identified the need to replace the following:
- a full bottom chassis and palm rest. It may also need a new keyboard/mousepad.
- There may be additional internal damage and the warranty is now void.
Luckily, I had insured it with USPS, but they want an "estimate of the repair costs from a reputable dealer." The seller could not put a price on it and only identified the damage he could see.
It was a 2017 DELL XPS 13 9360 7TH GEN I7-7560U 16GB 512GB SSD INFINITY QHD+ TOUCH 640 10 that was refurbished and had NBD warranty till May 2018. I bought it on ebay. Never again.
I don't have the laptop since I shipped it back to seller, so I can't really get an estimate...any one able to estimate damage this way or able to point me in right direction? I am in Los Angeles but laptop is in PA!
Thanks in advance!

I bought a ThinkPad. I received the computer two weeks ago. The computer is really good. It was a lot lighter than my previous ThinkPad, but the computer suddenly blacked out yesterday morning, and then I couldn?t turn it on. I called a few calls and couldn?t stand the long waiting. So I walk in an official after-sales depot, after testing, the technician said that my motherboard is broken and need to change, which I really can not accept! I only bought it for two weeks with the highest configurations. So I chose to replace a new computer. After playing a lot of calls, the customer service told me that I still need to wait for an email. I am a phd student. I need this computer to process experimental data and write a thesis every day. I want to know that this computer change program is to send a new computer and then I will send the old computer back? Or do I need to send my computer to Lenovo and wait for two weeks or more to receive my new computer? I just want to know how long I have to wait to receive my new computer. If I need to wait two weeks, I think this is a fatal blow to my current work. Really, I regretted buying this notebook.

Hi! If you have a watt meter such as the one below, when you put your Thinkpad X1 Carbon 2018/6:th gen under maximum load for long, what power consumption does it actually show? Personally I'm asking this because I'm pondering buying an Akitio Node Pro Thunderbolt 3 enclosure, which would work as laptop charger through the USBC-Thunderbolt cable's "Power Delivery" function, however it gives 60W while the X1 6:th gen comes with a 65W charger. I wonder if the 60W charger would work in the real world. Things you can do to maximize load on your laptop: * put your laptop on maximum load max   * CPU like calculating a zillion decimals of pi,   * read disk all the time like some disk benchmarking program,  * run something on the laptop's built-in display too like loop a video, and * plug in one or two 2.5" harddrives to the USB plugs and run disk benchmarking on it/them too. I think this the real world max watt consumption is very interesting for the world to know, also if you want to know how much you are really pay for your laptop being powered on, this is central for you to test. (I'm making a separate thread where I ask the same thing for Yoga 3:rd gen) Thank you and most grateful for any followup!  https://www.amazon.com/TS-836A-Energy-Voltage-Electricity-Monitor/dp/B00E945SJG

On January 23rd, 2018, I a laptop from Lenovo Inc for a total of $1,630.84 under the impression of receiving the purchased laptop within 7-9 business days. This time frame was advertised in large font in two above the fold areas (see below) immediately before I clicked a button that gave your company permission to withdraw funds from my account. Within a few hours of debiting my bank account, I logged in to find your company changed the time frame from 7-9 business days to almost two months (shipping date of March 14th) Upon contacting Lenovo I was repeatedly instructed that: "For custom built devices, expect a delay in the delivery date(subject to change) since we will be building your preferred specs from scratch" Let me be clear: I have no issue with delays. I?m a reasonable person. But that is the key here; reasonable. The delay represents almost 400% of the original estimate, and given the fact that within hours of purchase the delivery date was extended, it would be reasonable to believe that Lenovo.com should have done one of the following:1- At the least; update me, I shouldn?t have to log in to find out my order is delayed 2 months2- Inform me before I purchase. Given that there are many complaints on your support forum I found after purchasing, I?m shocked you would advertise a time frame that seems totally out of sync with the reality your users are experiencing.3- Implement customer inconvenience minimization strategies: i.e. no... Has anyone received a shipping confirmation on this new machine and if so will you please share order date, ship date, model. I ordered the stock-built computer with FHD display and 16 GB memory on the day of release, June 19, and now my estimated delivery is one month from June 19 despite that they are offering 'same day shipping' for new orders and have been for a few days.  The original estimated ship time was 5-7 days.  Call the sales number and they will sell you that computer today for 'same day shipping' but when I asked the rep to double-check she said oh, no, sorry, there are no computers in stock, that they were probably 'oversold' or 'waiting for parts'. Thank you kindly for helping bring some clarity to this situation.

I'm about to purchase a new X1 Carbon and need 1TB SSD. I already have Samsung 960 Pro NVMe PCIe M.2 1TB drive and thinking of ordering X1 with a smallest 256GB SSD option. Based on my research, Lenovo uses the latest (OEM, no consumers equivalent yet) Samsung PM981 SSD (with Phoenix controller and 3D TLC NAND Flash). 960 Pro has Polaris controller and 2D & 3D MLC NAND Flash.Should there be any issues using a different type SSD in X1? The reason I'm asking is that I had some bad experience replacing parts (though not SSD) in ThinkPad. I had T440p and replaced touchpad without buttons with the one that did have buttons. The original touchpad was Synaptics and the new one was ALPS. The problem was that with every system update Windows was replacing ALPS drivers with Synaptics ones and I always had to rollback the drivers manually. It seemed like T440p had touchpad type "hardcoded" and never properly recognized the new touchpad!I would like to avoid the similar issue with SSD, but at the same time I'd prefer to save $500 Lenovo asks for 1TB SSD.Thanks

Hi to all
I have random very random BSODs on my older PC.
Specs:
P4 3.0ghz, 2gb DDR1 PC3200, radeon 9600 pro (using latest legacy drivers for Vista on Win7 for my ATI card), Win7 7600 build - and I have terrible BSOD problems since I upgraded from Vista 32bit. These BSODs are occuring in very random fashion. Every 2-3 weeks only once, or every 2-3 days at once. I didn't see that BSODs occured in the row at the same day. I checked also for any memory problems (Windows memory diagnostic tool from Win7) and it found nothing. I have latest BIOS and I didn't have any single problems when I had Win Vista Sp2. These BSODs are annoying really, I tried to resolve this and I didn't find any solution. My memory is okay, my hardware is okay and I didn't had any problems with Win Vista SP2 on the same PC.
Also I analyzed these provided minidumps (which are here) and only what I think about this, that some driver or drivers are causing this BSOD. I think that's 100% software problem. So please help me - please analyze these minidumps which I provided and please reply to me what do you think. And many help to anyone which is trying to help me. Please reply here what do you think about these minidumps.
Endless thanks & cheers!

Per title, my PC randomly freezes with a loud buzzing noise and sometimes I'll have to hard reset and sometimes it'll restart on it's own.  It varies from a week, 10 days, couple days.  There's no rhyme or reason that I can find.

I'm usually gaming when this happens with youtube in the background or flash running.

My PC specs:

Built August 2015
EVGA 750W gold power supply
Intel I7-5820k
16GB Ram, 4gb each, 2400DDR
MSI X99A Motherboard
Nvidia GTX970

I had been using the overclocked version of GTX970 and it was freezing back then too so I thought it was the video card.  I replaced it with a non overclocked GTX970(current for about 3 months) and it still freezes randomly)

What I've tried:

Memtest
SFC scan
Re-formating, different OS multiple times
Isolating RAM one by one
I have a new PSU to try out too but it would not turn on when I tried putting it together(maybe I need to unseat everything first?)

I've attached my event viewer for analysis.  Thank you very much!

Hello, I am considering to buy a new Thinkpad. As I haven't used the Thinkpad for over 20 years, I would appreciate some advice from current users. Here are my requirements: - need to be able to connect to a 4K TV @ 60Hz with Chroma 4:4:4 (TV has HDMI 2.0 port)- compatible with Ubuntu Linux and be able to use eGPU under Ubuntu Linux- has a Thunderbolt 3 port to connect to the eGPU at full 40Gbps speed- ideally below 2kg- about 10 hours battery life and if possible, can change battery easily- if possible no big and heavy AC adapter- good customer support and after sales services- Intel 8 gen (6-core is better but not a must)- no heat/noisy fan/thermal/throttling issue- no scaling issues when using 4K display (both internal LCD and external 4K display)- no scaling issues when the LCD and external 4K monitor are at different resolutions

Hello!  I am seeking the sage wisdom of veteran thinkpad owners for an upcoming purchase.  I am considering an x250 (i5, 256 ssd, 8gb, 1080P ips non touch, with nothing but a fresh install of Windows 10 pro 64 bit and MS office pro plus) to use for the next two years while I complete a degree(mostly paper writing, web browsing, netflix/youtube etc..nothing heavy). I prioritize a good keyboard, good battery life, light weight(under 3lbs), durability, and saving money if possible.  With that said, I can't deal with laggy performance and lackluster battery life. I "could" buy a new laptop, but am having a hard time justifying spending that much since my usage is so light.  My previous laptop was a macbook air and it served me well, but the keyboard never really impressed me. I sold it, bought a nice Chromebook(12.5 inch screen) and pocketed the change. I have not had a "real" computer for a few years now and it's time.  What say you? Will the X250 perform well for 2 years and provide good battery life with the flush battery?  Or should I get an x1 carbon from costco despite the issues reported?    Thank you is advance!

I am going to upgrade my laptop very soon.  I really like the X1 carbon but also fancy the Yoga.  I will be buy the highest performance available for my needs.   It appears the Carbon and Yoga can be purchased with the same i7 and ram configurations.   Ports are the same as well?  I need at least 1 thunderbolt connection.  Am I missing any performance differences between them a the high end? It would appear the biggest trade off is the extra size and weight of the Yoga?  The Carbon being more svelte?  I would not use the Yoga in tablet/pen mode but it would be nice to have and perhaps I find more applications for it. I am in IT admin - I wish they still had real Ethenet ports...  but I get the form factor will not support it. Thanks in advance for any all/help.

Hi Warder2112,

My two cents: If you don't need the tablet/pen mode, the X1 Carbon is svelter. If you want the sveltest machine with a real Ethernet port, look at the T480s.

We've tried all the fixes, and batch files from MS, and elsewhere, but Almost all new installations of Windows 7 will just not get updates. I have 2 machines we have formatted twice and reinstalled Win 7 and one literally has been sitting waiting for updates for 2 solid weeks. (it's not crucial, and we're sort of using it as a test. We're starting to wonder if it's an I.P. issue or something, because it only seems to be our location. I am going to grab that Vaio and bring it home and see if it works here, but for the first 3 years in our location, and some 3000 jobs (obviously not all Win 7 installs) we had no problems. Now, whether you set it to automatically update, or download and let me decide, changing time and date etc. Activated or not. It's really odd, and none of my research is finding a cause for it. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks,

Hi Js,
Update runs are notoriously slow at the moment, but not that BAD and at some stage i would have thought there would have been a timeout sent by your server, which brings me to, have you reached your licence allocation .

However,
Are they just sat with the message checking for updates, or is it another.
Either way could you post a copy of the last days entries from the windowsupdate log, we'll go from there
(moving post to Updates/activations please read the stickys at the top of that sub-forum i will more than likely ask for some of the other operations)

Hi all, According to the new Windows Central X1Y3 review, the HDR screen of the Yoga is less reflective than the HDR Carbon. I'm trying to choose between the two, and if there is a large difference in reflectivity I might take the Yoga over the Carbon, although the heat issues concern me a little. Does anyone have any input or images? If there is only a slight, non-perceptible difference than I might take the Carbon. Thanks for any info!

I ordered a Thinkpad OLED Yoga, 16GB ram and 1TB SSD, on 6/17/2016. So, what is the deal here? Is Lenovo the most incompetent company on earth? Why offer a configuration they cannot fullfill? The current shipping window for this configuration is 3 weeks.  Can anyone shed any light here? Thanks,Kevin

Hey guys, I've recently purchased a 6th generation Thinkpad X1 Carbon. At the time of my purchase it was only avaliable without WWAN.However I can now see that Lenovo il selling them with built-in WWAN too. I've opened up my laptop and I can see there is a sim-card reader installed, as well as the sim slot on the back. Also there is a free slot where the WWAN card can go. I can see there are no LTE antennas installed however.See picture: https://imgur.com/o5RU96U I have tried getting in touch with the local Lenovo sales phone number but I am always put on hold and the call gets dropped after 15 minutes of waiting each time.I have also tried opening a support ticket regarding this, asking for the part number on the modem and the antenna. However, I was only provided with the part number for the antenna. Do you guys know of any documentation on how I should go ahead for installing the antenna? As far as I understand the antenna is PN 01YR426 . What LTE modems are supported on this machine? From the specs sheet  I can see that only the Intel XMM 7360 (Fibocom L850-GL), M.2 card is listed as OEM. Where can I purchase this L850-GL module? I have tried looking various places but it doesen't seem to be avaliable for sale anywhere?! Could I maybe use a  Sierra wireless AirPrime EM7455, or something else, instead? Also, is the antenna (01YR426) the same no matter which card I use? Really liking my X1 but LTE would b... Read more

Hello everyone, I am pretty frustrated right now. I've only had the machine for two weeks and out of nowhere while I was doing an important report it just shut off and won't turn back on.  I tried holding power button and the reset button with no luck. When the AC adapter is plugged in, battery light shows green which is full charge. With AC in, the power button flashes 3 times when I press it and I hear two clicks from inside the laptop. With no AC, the power button sometimes quickly flashes after I press it and stays dead. Seems to be a hardware issue but hoping it isnt. Could someone maybe let me know anyway to fix this asap? Machine:X1 carbon 5th geni7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD Thanks a lot!

Hi!
I and my colleagues have a problem with Performance Monitor (Perfmon), and only at
Window 8.

On the Quality Assurance apartment that I work, we use Perfmon to keep track of memory leaks by logging private bites and handle count for the applications we test.
But when we use windows 8 we always have the same problem.
Perfmon stops logging after 1-3 days. Even if we do no settings at the Stop Conditions or we set Overall duration to 3 weeks.

What do we do wrong? Is it a bug?

Please help, we need to perform stability test at our application on various operative systems.

Thanks!

//Madlene

A:Perfmon stops logging after 1-3 days even duration set to 3 weeks at windows 8.

Hi,
Please try the steps below for test.
To schedule the Stop condition for a Data Collector Set
1.  In Windows Performance Monitor, expand Data Collector Sets and click User Defined .
2.  In the console pane, right-click the name of the Data Collector Set that you want to schedule and click Properties .
3.  Click the Stop Condition tab.
4.  To stop collecting data after a period of time, select overall duration and choose the quantity and units. Note that your overall duration must be longer than the interval at which data is sampled in order to see any data in the report. Do not select
an overall duration if you want to collect data indefinitely.
5.  Use limits to segment data collection into separate logs by selecting When a limit is reached, restart the data collector set . If both limit types are selected, data collection will stop or restart when the first limit is reached.

Select Duration to configure a time period for data collection to write to a single log file.
Select Maximum Size to restart the Data Collector Set or to stop collecting data when the log file reaches the limit.
Note: If an overall duration is configured, it will override limits.
6.  If you have configured an overall duration, you can select Stop when all data collectors have finished to let all data collectors finish recording the most recent values before the Data Collector Set is stopped.

A:ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2015 edition

Got mine yesterday. Its the Core i5 5300, 8GB/256SSD with the QHD display. Took about 2 weeks from the date of order. What a great machine. It fixes the big problem of the first X1 Carbon (crappy TN display) and the annoying gimmick of generation 2 (adaptive keyboard) and what I have now is pretty much the perfect laptop. The display could be a touch brighter for me, but it is sharp and glorious. I am extremely pleased.

Hi I recently bought a ThinkPad P51 on the Lenovo online store in the UK, the shipping of this of the order experienced a few days delay going from the advertised 7 business days to 11 business days this due to a shortage on memory, luckily I didn't have to wait a long time for the order to be shipped as I could see it happened to some customers who bought the new P series back in May. However the factory from where these laptops are assembled LCFC (HEIFEI) ELECTRONICS TECHNOLOGY in China always seems to missed the latest collection time for the courier that Lenovo uses UPS, this is the second order where I have had the same problem, this factory tendered the shipment to UPS after the latest collection time causing a further one day delay to an already delayed shipment.  I don't understand why on such high end machines and considering the prices that customers are willing to pay why Lenovo doesn't offer a premium delivery service so customers can receive the shipment quicker, also I noticed now that the advertised shipping time for some models on the new P series is now showing on the Lenovo online store in the UK from 3-4 weeks probably because of some sort of shortage in parts I believe. Anyway, I just wanted to share with those thinking to buy any model of the P51 or P71 the current shipping situation and delays you may encounter.

I'm guessing we might be due a 2017 shipping dates thread now...  I ordered an X1 Carbon 2017/5th Gen (top spec except for i7-7500U & 512GB PCIe storage) in the UK on 24 Feb. The Digital River order status hadn't changed since then so I emailed customer services today, who said: "Unfortunately, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5G 20HR ordered is currently unavailable and, as a result, shipping has been delayed. Your new estimated shipping date is 31/03/17." Yet the delivery status on the UK Lenovo store still says "7 business days". It's not ideal for me as my X220 screen is failing, and may not last out another month. I think one or two people on here have received a new model X1C  - how long was it between order and delivery, and what model number do you have? TIA! Simon

On 18th February I ordered my new T450 online. I received an email which states that ships within 6 days. It won't ship for about 20. Why do Lenovo make false claims in emails and in website?

So I've messed around with this my whole afternoon. What I've found out is that the X1C I just got will not notice my monitor (samsung px2370), however, it will notice my TV just fine.Figured I would try a BIOS update...well I already have Linux installed and the BIOS update options are "Windows" or "CD"...why...there is a CD/DVD option...in 2018...on a model that does not have a direct CD/DVD drive - is beyond me.I've tried copying the iso image with 'dd' and booting from it but that doesn't work.Suggestions?

A:Thunderbolt(TB3) NOT found in device manager for X1 Carbon 6th 2018(X1C6) in Windows 10 (Wx)

I didn't read all of your post, but I assume this is part of what you're looking for.Under "System Devices"Also, AFAIK, the TB3 controller itself is responsible for regular USB-C functionality on those two ports (though not USB-C PD [charging] that is handled by a seperate PMIC). So if the USB-C ports work with a flash drive, for instance, then the TB3 controller is working at some level. Charging is handled seperately (even though they are using the same ports), and I don't remember what the TB3 controller's exact relationship with USB-C DP Alt Mode was, so I don't dare comment on that. EDIT: for clarity, I should note I have the charger plugged in right now, along with an USB-C --> DP cable, driving an external monitor. When I briefly unplugged both devices, the TB3 controller seemed to still be present in the device manager, though I cannot guarentee that's an accurate assessment.

I have a new X1 Carbon 6th Gen and just upgraded to Windows 10 version 1809 (October 2018) and read on Lenovo Support that they strongly recommend installing Intel Graphics Driver Version 24.20.100.6286 or newer noting that not having the the updated driver may result in excessive processor demand and reduced battery life. The latest Intel Graphics Driver Version available for this computer is 24.20.100.6223 when I did a systems update through Lenovo Vantage (with UHD Graphics 620).    Will the computer run ok with the current driver and when will an updated driver be available?

When start up, my device no longer shows options such as 'press enter to enter bios set up' , and no longer responds when I press f1, f2, f12 etc repeatedly.   Instead, it keeps running to open the windows log in page.  It did work fine but changed over night.  Any ways i could restore that? Thanks!
