T440s & Intel AC 8265 Wireless Adapter (FRU: 01AX704)

Q: T440s & Intel AC 8265 Wireless Adapter (FRU: 01AX704)

Hi, I am new to these forums so a big hello to everyone. I am looking for confirmation on compatibility with T440s (BIOS 2.44) and Intel AC 8265 Wireless card (FRU: 01AX704) Can anyone confirm in BIOS 2.44 (Latest) if the following card above has been added to the BIOS Whitelist? I would rather get some confirmed solid confirmation before I purchase. The Intel AC 7260 is not the greatest of cards and an upgrade would be nice. I don't see it feasible that Lenovo would have individual whitelists for individual ThinkPad series, I would say that it is likely they update all the whitelists as and when new cards come on to the market? Best Wishes Vince

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have just bought a Yoga 730-13IKB Laptop - Type 81CTIt comes with the Intel(r) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 wifi adapter. I do not manage to get it keeping connected to wifi. It disconnects constantly. I have my old notebook connected to the same access point without any problemI have updated Windows 10 to the newest version, and also the driver (from Intel, version 21.0.0.100, date: 11/3/2019) from Lenovo support center. Please help me solve the problem!

A:YOGA 730 with intel 8265 wifi adapter constatly disconnects!

Now be careful but you may want to try opening it up to see if the thing sits right in there. I looked into the 730 quite extensively online before my purchase and saw it mentioned somewhere that a lot of wifi problems may be due to shoddy installation. Mine has an Intel 9260 160MHz adapter and no drops so far.EDIT: BEFORE you do that check your battery settings. Right click on battery> power options>change plan settings>change advanced power settings>wireless adapter settings>power saving mode and fiddle with these settings. Could be Windows' power saving is disabling your wifi though I kind of doubt it. Mine is on maximum power saving and no drops yet.Could you tell if it shows the wifi signal dropping in the bottom right corner or can you tell it's dropping when you're downloading sth or gaming?

Hi All, I use a P50 (20HHCTO1WW, BIOS 1.17 dated 12/13/2017, FHD, i7-7700HQ, RAM 64GB, Boot disk: Samsung 850 EVO M.2 SATA 500GB, Work disk: Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe 1TB, Data disk: Seagate Firecuda SMR HDD ST2000LX001 2TB. I use this laptop for development of systems on top of virtual machines, stored on the NVMe SSD. These virtual machines are set to access network and internet through a virtual switch setup on top of the P50 WLAN interface. I would like to share regarding crashes I got after performing system update on Lenovo Vantage yesterday. After performing two updates (Intel Online Connect and Intel 8265 WLAN driver) on 1/16 6:09AM early morning, a BSoD occurred on 9:03AM. Upon checking the memory dump using windebugger, the issue was invalid memory read access initiated by vmswitch (Hyper-V Virtual adapter). Installed vmswitch.sys on my P50 is version 10.0.16299.192, time stamp 1/8/2018 5:32AM. Quite new. Upon checking for possible causes, I read on other forum regarding suggestion to disable VM queue on each network interface on all VMs. I changed these right away.  However, on 5:06PM same day, a second BSoD occured. This time the memory dump writing somehow failed, hence I lost the latest dump and also the previous dump (as it is overwritten by the last BSoD process). The bugcheck details from both crash occurences as registered on Event Log are similar thou. As disabling VMQ didn't solve the BSoD problem, I removed the Intel 8265... Read more

I am running Windows 10 Pro on a brand new T470 laptop. Lenovo Update offers an "Intel 8265 Wireless LAN Driver - 10 [64]" update, but it simply will not install after repeated attempts. The update downloads and says that it needs to restart to complete the install, but after restarting and running Lenovo Update again, the same driver update shows up once again as "Critical update." Does anyone know how to actually get this critical update to install?

When my Carbon 5th is connected to 5 GHz Wifi it randomly resets (drops) after several hours (connection is being lost, Windows reports "Cannot connect to the network"). Sometimes it is possible to connect again manually, sometimes only reboot makes it work again. Connection to 2.4 GHz Wifi always works totally fine. I've seen several similar topics on Intel forums with the same issue, looks like it touches several Intel WiFi adapters. No solution have been found except using only old 2.4 GHz protocols or external WiFi adaptors. I tried different drivers and many parameter sets on my router - nothing solves this issue. It is very sad to have only 20mbps with 2.4 GHz while new standards offer more than 100mbps. Did you face this issue? Any ideas to solve it out?

I upgraded my XPS 15 9560 Killer WiFi with Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265.
WiFi works flawlessly.
Bluetooth devices installed correctly ("This device is working properly") and visible: Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R), Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator and Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator.
But Bluetooth can't find any devices.
I have tried Intel driver 19.50.0.5 from Dell downloads and official Intel driver 20.0.0_64.
In Windows 10 x64 Bluetooth settings it just gets stuck saying "Your PC is searching for and can be discovered by Bluetooth devices" and never actually finds anything.
Any ideas?

You must actually connect (pair) bluetooth devices like bt headphones or other peripherals to get it to work. What BT devices do you have? The enumerators are not devices. See --

Hello,

I have a laptop dell xps M1210 with Intel(R) PROSet 3495 ABG. It has been working well for several years.

Yesterday morning I got an error: "Problem applying profile", then it couldn't been connected.

I did a lot of things.
1) Update the driver from 10.5 to version 12.1
2) Make sure "Wireless Zero Configuration" service started.
3) Uninstall the wireless adapter and reinstall it.
4) reboot the machine.
....

It is not working today. The error becomes "Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software was unable to detect a supported wireless adapter.".
By checking the device manager for connectivity, everything looks good.

One thing I must mention is sometimes I got an error that is "Microsoft Help and Support Center has encountered a problem and needs to close...."

The detail is Error signature

Hello!

I will start this off by freely admitting I'm not great with computers and usually don't know what I'm talking about.

I have an Acer Aspire 4720Z laptop.
I recently wiped it clean and installed Windows XP, and have not been able to connect to wireless internet ever since.
I used the Acer website to download the drivers, extracted all the files, etc.

When I open Intel PROSet/Wireless, I get an error message that it is "unable to detect a supported wireless adapter. Please install a supported adapter."

Also, Intel PROSet/Wireless does not appear on my Device Manager. (The only things that are listed under "Network adapters" is 1394 Net Adapter and Broadcom Netlink Gigabit Ethernet.) I feel like that's probably part of the problem, even if I'm not sure why, haha.

What can I do to get my wireless access back?

Thank you.

Dear all,

I thought I have met this problem before before my two wireless adapters both stopped working.

PCI-E INTEL 5300
TP-LINK WN821N

My case is a little different from those I found on this forum.

1. When I upgraded my thinkpad x200 to win7 64bit, I don't have "Wireless Network Connection", but I fixed it by stopping one setting of Kaspersky and it came back, so when I first found my PCI-E wireless didn't work, I thought the same thing happened, although I didn't remember the details, I tried the Kaspersky, don't work.

2. I updated the drivers, uninstall-install, start-stop-start WLAN AutoConfig... I have done a lot that can be searched on line, never worked for me.

3. Tragedy happened, I adjusted several common options on BIOS, then after several tries I made to make 5300 work, USB wireless died Don't know how to recover it, and back to my laptop again.

Could anyone here help me out? Really appreciate it! I have spent two days on this stuff, if no one can do this, I guess the only way is to reinstall the OS, that's the least thing I want to do.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mic

PS: Unavailable wireless adapters have all zero Mac addresses, also can't be found in control panel.

We have just purchased the XPS 13 over the past weekend.  The laptop was working great, until the creators update occured.e

once the update occured the WLAN auto-config service appears to crash during the association phase when the laptop is attempting to connect to an SSID.  It starts to connect, then the autoconfig config crashes and the laptop stops probing for beacons.  I am able to get Wi-FI to work with one of my USB Wi-FI cards.
I have had to roll back to windows 10 in-order to get the wifi card to work.  I have tried the latest drivers from intel and the Dell site and I have been unable to get the wifi-card to function.

A:XPS 13 2-in 1 (9365) intel 8265 no longer working after creator update

The Creator's Build did not bother my system.  Other than always having to set my system to a Private network after such an upgrade/update, it works normally.
Can we assume all of your Drivers/Bios updates are done?  If you want to give some info regarding your configuration, we can compare systems.
Windows 10 seems to have a built in driver for that Wi-Fi adapter.  The Dell driver should work better, so you might try to reinstall it, just in case or vice versa..

I am running Windows 7 64bit retail on an Intel DX58SO2 extreme mobo with i7960 CPU and Corsair SATA3 SSD hard drive, with 12GB KIngston DDR3 1300 RAM.

The mobo comes with a module that connects to an internal USB header which runs Bluetooth and a WiFi 802.11bgn wireless adapter.

I had used Bluetooth without problems for some time, but just recently decided to install the WiFi adapter for the first time. It said it had installed successfully, and showed up on Device Manager as working properly. However, it could not detect networks, and in particular, the WiFi external modem/router on my other PC.

After exhausting all possible solutions, I decided to load a bare bones installation of Windows 7 and it installed and ran perfectly in this environment. And it continued to run OK after all my various programs were loaded.

However, as a test, I uninstalled it from the fully loaded OS, and then successfully reinstalled it. But once again, it could not detect networks despite Device Manager saying it was working correctly.

So it seems the only way to get it to work is to load it on Windows before any other programs or updates are added; and never uninstall/reinstall.

I also had exactly the same experience on my other PC which runs Vista Ultimate OEM. I was using a Belkin N 300 adapter on this OS. It could only be loaded and run successfully on a bare bones installation, but once running, was OK even when all other programs were added.

I have an IBM T40 Thinkpad that has a built-in Intel Pro Wireless 2100 LAN 3B Mini PCI adapter. A while back, after trying to set up a router, and monkeying with settings, I found I could no longer connect. The OEM-installed IBM Access Connections was no help, and Windows tells me it cannot configure the adapter/connections. At first I thought the card was defective, but 2 new ones have the same results. I've been using a USB adapter, but would like to get the built-in working again. My friend thought I could remove IBM Access Connections and install different software to operate the adapter.

Two questions:
1.Does this sound feasible?
2.Can someone recommend some software (preferably freeware)?

Plugged it in before I booted the computer and it doesn't work and tried when the computer and it hangs until I unplug it.

I have a Gateway FX series 17" laptop and yesterday when I got home from university and took the computer out of my bag to start working, the wireless card just didnt exist, no networks were recognized and when i tried to troubleshoot it told me that no device was connected. Wired internet works just fine. And the wireless card appears in the device manager.

methods i have tried to no avail:
-turning the wireless switch on and off
-uninstalling the device and rebooting
-updating drivers
-manually downloading driver from Intel's website
-insulting the device's mother

I'm suspecting this might be a hardware issue but if anyone has some advice that would be great. For the time being I am just using a wired connection but I'm going to need the wireless when I'm. back in class

,Thanks guys

Hi! First of all, I'm sorry if my English is bad. My laptop is running on Windows 8.1 Single Language. I just bought this about a month ago and I'm having this weird problem.

Cases that my network adapter connects to my computer:
1.) After restart
2.) When the network adapter successfully starts and then shut the computer down then start it again

Cases that my network adapter does not connect to my computer:
1.) Turning the computer on after a few hours from the last shutdown

I have done the following things:
1.) Update the driver
2.) Not allowing the computer to turn off the network adapter
3.) Uninstall and reinstall network adapter
4.) Release and renew IPv4 address
5.) Disable Proset services
6.) Disable Bluetooth driver and services
7.) Set WLAN AutoConfig to automatically start

Is this a hardware related problem or a driver problem? Do you know how to fix this?

Thanks!

Not enough information regarding which model of wireless adapter you have, what mfg & model of router/gateway. Download Speccy from piriform.com and post the URL it gives you after you run the tool.

Yesterday I booted up my P72 and noticed that I had no WiFi.  Only the LAN icon appeared in the Task bar.  I opened the Network adapters and the wireless adapter was not there either.  It did show up in the Device Manager except with the yellow warning symbol.  I tried to reinstall the driver, but that didn't change any the status (or the lack thereof).  I contacted Lenovo Support and they told me I have to send my laptop into a Depot center. Fortunately, I have a dual boot so I checked my second boot and the wireless adapter was showing there.  So, I reset my network adapters and rebooted to my first boot and voila, my wireless was restored. Has anyone experienced this or is this just an isolated incident? Kind regards, tecknot

Since the lastest update to the Intel HD 530 Graphics card driver (Intel HD Graphics Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - ThinkPad T460p  22.20.16.4836 13 Dec 2017) I have been having serious connection problems with my 2 Microsoft Wireless Adapter Cards (both were not able to connect anymore!).I have finally decided to download the (unsupported by lenovo) latest driver from Intel and forced the driver update to version 23.20.16.4944.This upgrade has solved all the connection issues. Where I don't advice to force a driver update to a version NOT yet approved by Lenovo, it was the ONLY option available after days of troubleshooting with Microsoft support team. I think Lenovo should work with Intel to make this new driver avaiable ASAP and validate any connection/compatability issue with Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter. (see below my new updated driver).

Hi Shockr,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

As per the datasheet, yes. Your laptop is very much compatible with AC 8260 card & should support Windows hosted network feature.

Let us know if it helps.

My laptop will no longer connect to the internet. It can't even locate available WIFI. After troubleshooting the following problems were found: "The Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 adapter  is experiencing driver- or hardware-related problems""A network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken"    As for the 2nd problem, all of our other devices are connecting just fine to the internet so it has to be the first problem. I have 46 days left in my warranty. Where the heck do I even take my laptop to get looked at? Can I do anything to resolve the problem at home? HELP please!

I have Lenovo y700 gaming laptop. It has windows 10 home operating system. Since past few weeks wireless adapter(Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165) is showing abnormal behavior. Many times wireless/wifi available connections list becomes empty. I have tried installing latest drivers from both Lenovo and Intel website against Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 adapter. I suspect windows 10 updates has done something wrong. Sometimes after trying installing drivers again and again fix the issue but appears again after few restarts.

Hello, my R51 (2887-32G) randomly drops wireless connection, especially when starting to download large files. For instance, when I try to download iTunesSetup.exe, the download is interrupted. Instead, if I just surf webpages, the problem occurs less.I tried a Live Distro (xubuntu) and this problem does not occur there. The problem manifests with Windows XP (with all latest updates and sp), using the 1.2.4.41. There used to be more recent drivers on intel's website, but I saw that they've removed them. I remember using this laptop 3 years ago with and wireless was OK - no trouble at all. And I do remember I was using the intel driver. Unfortuantely, I have no backup of this driver and upgraded my R51 in the meantime, so I am with the default drivers again. Or maybe SP3 might be the problem? Thanks for any advice! Message Edited by pi4630 on 01-29-2009 10:57 PM

A:Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 3b Mini PCI adapter drops connection

I am having the EXACT same problem on a T41 with the same card. There is a thread in that forum for it. I even tested doing the same as yourself with 8.0.4 Xubuntu.. no problems. I think this is an SP3 issue. I also see that Intel has issued an EOS on this card.. so I would assume we are not going to see anymore updates that would help us out. Please if you do find a solution, post it. I think an upgrade of wireless card if you want to continue to use SP3 will have to be the choice. James
