I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: How to identify a genuine dell power adapter and year of manufacture

The first digit in the field of three is the year - 0 is 2010 (and will be 2020), 8 is 2008, then 2018, etc.

But the things is this adapter is  suspicious...
It has little different main label sticker and very different LED light (second pic).
Does anybody knows  this is genuine adapter or counterfeit?

A:Dell 330w adapter genuine or counterfeit?

Hi, it does look original to me as the part number seems to be valid.
The small sticker is most probably just the authorized manufacturer sticker.
Do remember that there are many parts in that is not directly manufactured by Dell.

Hi there,

We've got 3 Dell precision towers 5810 that work great, except for a possible bios bug, which I can reproduce on all machines:

I'm using the installed NIC: Intel ethernet server adapter i210-t1.
Our computers go powerless every night (mains power) after a normal pc shutdown. Every morning, when the power is back on, I want to wake up all computers in our building with Wake On Lan (WOL) by sending a 'magic packet' over the network.
This normally works well if the machine has been switched on and off with the power button / windows shutdown. But when I unplug the machine (mains power), wait and plug in the mains power again, the computer does not respond to the WOL packet. (Maybe the PCI-E NIC does not get power on plugging in the mains of machine for the first time).
It works well on the integrated (motherboard) NIC. BIOS / power / sleep state settings seem to be ok.

Greetings ,
A couple months ago I bought the Dell 2 n 1 15 7000 Start lord laptop and now I am having problems with it charging.  It shows that it is plugged in and I get the message that it doesn't recognize it and it won't charge.  I am using the cord that came with the laptop.

A:Dell 15 7000 ac power adapter

Call Dell - they'll first replace the adapter under warranty.  If that fails to solve the problem, they'll replace the DC jack or mainboard under warranty -- one of those three parts is faulty.

I have a Dell Inspiron 9100. I have checked the adapter/charger and it is putting out he correct 19V.

However, the LED lights on the battery do not indicate anything. After charging for 10 hours, I push the power button and nothing happens....no screen activity, whirling, noise, etc.

I have tried starting with adapter connected and not connnected.

Could a battery be so dead that the computer will not turn on?

Or is it the MB or bios?

Thanks.

A:Dell will not start, power adapter okay

Try removing the battery and starting the laptop using only the AC adapter. If you still get nothing, the motherboard is most likely bad

I have owned the laptop for 2 years, purchased new. a week or so ago, it started telling me I have a non genuine version of windows and need to activate.

I tried the on line system to re activate, but the key was rejected ? I then wanted to try the phone method but once validation is started, ( right click computer >activate now )I don't get the option to activate by phone, just a message saying this key is invalid.

This is very confusing, it has worked flawlessly for 2 years, I tried ringing the Australia activation ( I got the number from internet ) and was asked to enter the first 6 installation ID numbers, which I got from the MGAdiag report, but was told the number is invalid too. So I am stuck, nothing works here.

How can I get the phone activation on screen, it's not given as an option? Microsoft automatic phone person just hangs up on me.

I have done thorough scanning for malware and all is working fine, have I been hacked?

Please help,

Ron.

Which key are you using to activate this installation? You must use the 25 character product key afixed to the COA sticker stuck to the bottom of your laptop.

"The AC power adapter wattage & type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge. The system will adjust the performance to match power available. Please connect a Dell 65W-AC adapter or greater for best system performance. To resolve this issue try to reset the power adapter."
This message shows up every time on a re-boot. Have to hit F1 to continue. Power meter shows 100%.

Is this an indication that the Model HA65NS1-00 rev: A01 adapter supplied by Dell is about to fail? What might be generating the error message?

This morning I woke up to see blue flashes coming from my office at home. My cat had eaten through the cord BETWEEN my LAPTOP and it's POWER BRICK. Fortunately the cat had also pulled the cord free of the computer - and the power brick itself seems to be in good working order.

Unfortunately the cat was still alive and probably hadn't been taught much of a lesson.

I took one look at the cable and decided that the two areas where the cat had eaten through plastic just had to be cut from the cable (luckily both bite-spots are close to each other) and then the remaining good parts of the cable could be spliced together.

However, I'm now wondering if a trip to Radioshack is in order. I would like a longer cable between power brick and computer anyway. Since I am at work now and would like to swing by radioshack on my way home from work, I cannot take another look at the damaged cable. I've checked online and can find no pinouts or schematics of the power supply.

So I guess my question is this...

If you were going to repair an Inspiron 9300 Power Supply cable and you wanted to do a really good job of it, what supplies would you pick up from Radioshack while you're out shopping for a cat defibrillator? Any idea what kind of replacement cable I should be picking up? Also, are there any protective cable sleeves I can buy to prevent this kinda thing happening again?

I went ahead and searched through the forums, but I didn't find anything that may work in my case, so I thought I would ask here.

For the past few months, the battery on the laptop will not charge although it is plugged in correctly - I checked the pin inside the adapter connector, and it is straight as an arrow. Fiddling with it does not fix it at all. I am using the original adapter that came with the laptop. A few weeks ago, I installed the new BIOS, but the problem is still there.

The laptop gets a message during startup that reads
"AC Power Adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge. The system will adjust the performance to match the power available. Please connect Dell 65W AC Adapter or greater for best system performance. To resolve this issue, try to reset the power adapter."

When the laptop, the battery icon says "plugged in, not charging."

One time, I managed to fix it by unplugging the battery for a while and reinserting it, but after a week or so, it kept happening again.

The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1521, and it's only 1.5 years old. I understand this may be a battery problem, but those can be rather expensive, and it seems a little soon for the battery to be dying. I'd rather try to rule out anything else before I have to buy another one. I don't have a spare to test it, but is there any other way I can try to figure out what's going on? Or does anyone else have any thoughts on ... Read more

A:Dell Inspiron Power Adapter problem

It's almost certainly the battery. Depending how it was cared for, how much it charged/overcharged, and what type it is, it may not be at all unusual for it to quit after a year and a half. Do you know what type it is (Lithium, NiMH, NiCad, etc.)?

It can't be the adapter if it is powering the machine.

Hi
I have a Dell Inspiron Zino HD 400 and I lost my power adapter.
I am trying to use another one from my old Dell laptop (model number: LA90PS1-00)
The power button on my Zino lights up white and then turns to solid amber color after 1 second or so.
After a little "googling" I found out it might be the power adapter (or motherboard and such)
I was wondering if my 90W (19,5V and 4,62A) might not be suitable with my Zino?
I have a couple of these 90W power adapters and they all light up green so they all work.
I want to be sure before scrapping my Zino or try to buy an OEM pwer adapter.
p.s. I have opened it all up and cleaned (dust free) the computer, taken one ram out and all that stuff I thought of)
Your help is much appreciated.

I built this computer about a year ago and installed a legit upgrade copy of Windows 7 Ultimate (installed a friend's copy of Windows 7 just to get through the upgrade process). I've had no problems with the OS until a few days ago when I noticed one of my USB devices turned off (a PS3 controller configured with MotionJoy). Then I noticed Windows came up with several notices claiming it wasn't genuine. It was displayed in popups and in the bottom right-hand corner of my desktop.

Apparently, Microsoft Security Essentials triggered it. This wasn't the first time I've had to deal with a validation issue in a Windows PC. I usually just had to run the validation tool and be done with it. However, when I ran the tool this time, it simply took me to a screen where I could buy a new copy of Windows 7 Ultimate (or a new activation key?) to resolve missing security files. Obviously I'm not going to do that, but I'm running out of options other than perhaps running the Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade installer again and hoping that it returns Windows to default.

As it stands, I've tried reactivating, but it gives me an error message. I've tried running Windows Update because it seems that it stopped updating on the 21st, and that's when the latest security pack was installed. However, I get a code C0000022 error whenever I try to update. Should I just redo my upgrade installation or is there some other way to fix this? I'd appreciate a... Read more

I have windows 7 and I have two windows keys. One key came with the disk I used to install it, and another I got online at windows7key.com. The computer with the key from that website on it now says that windows is not genuine. I clicked "go online to resolve this" and windows installed a software on my computer, and after it finished installing, it said "you may be a victim of software counterfeiting" and it said that the key was either blocked by microsoft or in use by another computer. Is this site just a bunch of BS? I got the key almost a year ago now and it's worked up until now, and the site is still there. I would think if it wasn't a legitimate site it would have disappeared by now?

Hi -- not sure if this is the right place for this, so apologies if it's not.

I've had my Dell Inspiron 600m for about a year and half, and in the past couple months, the power adapter seems to "shut off". The green indicator light goes out, and my laptop begins to run on battery power. If I unplug the power adapter and plug it back in, it starts working fine again.

The frequency of this seems to vary, and I can't identify any behaviors I'm doing that are associated with this happening. Sometimes, if I leave my laptop unattended for a couple hours, I'll find that the power adapter has shut off and the battery has drained to the point where the laptop has to go into hibernation mode.

What might be causing this? Is it something wrong with the power adapter itself, or something in the motherboard or laptop itself?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

A:Problem with Dell Inspiron 600m & power adapter

The problem is most likely one of three things. However, I have to ask a two question first!

Do you mean the GREEN light on the AC Adapter or on your Laptop. I am assuming on the AC Adapter for this response.

Do you keep your laptop plugged into the same outlet all of the time? The reason I am asking this is that it could be a bad outlet or the outlet could be damaged and the power supply is simply losing connection at the outlet.

1. Possible outlet problem as in it has a worn plug in and the ac adapter loses contact. This can also happen on a power strip too!

2. Could very well be a failing ac adapter.

3. Could also be caused by the battery.

If #1 is a possibility, try a different wall socket.

If it does it in all sockets, you could remove the battery and plug the AC Adapter into the laptop. It should run without the battery too! This would rule out the battery as being a problem! If the AC Adapter fails without the battery, then it is the AC Adapter. If it works with the battery out, then it is most likely the battery!

Hope this helps!

Hi,
I'm using an XPS 13 9350, and 'm currently having an issue whereby when I start up my laptop I'm receiving the error message.
"AC power adapter and type cannot be determined, the battery may mot charge, the system will adjust the performance to match the power available"
The laptop sticks at 1% and wont charge. Although the light is still on the adapter, the light does not appear at the front of the laptop where it would usually indicate charging, apart from occasionally brief moments before the laptop boots following pressing the on button.
I have forced the latest BIOS update past the 10% battery block, however this has not helped.
I've had the laptop and adapter roughly a year.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.

A:Dell XPS 13 9350 - AC power adapter and type could not be determined

If "roughly" is less than a year, call Dell for warranty repair.
If it's over a year, first thing to try is a new OEM Dell AC adapter -- most computer shops should have one you can try.  If that fixes it, replace the AC adapter.  If not, replace the DC power jack:
www.newegg.com/.../Product.aspx
And if that doesn't solve it, it's the charge circuit itself that's bad -- replace the mainboard.

I added a solid state disk and moved the OS to it. I removed several small HDs that I had used only to verify that all the ports on the MB worked. I added a 2TB disk. A few hours or days later I got the black screen and the not genuine messages.

I have tried several means to make the system appear appear legal to MS, including some from here. They all seem to be doing something, but all end with error code C004E003, licensing service reported that license evaluation failed.

I suspect that the source of the W7pro software is related to this problem, perhaps as a cause, but at least as a complication. I bought it on eBay from someone that claimed he put Linus on his new Dell
computer without ever booting the W7pro that was installed at Dell. Before buying, I checked on the web and that seemed to be a fairly common and legal approach. The DVD arrived in a sealed envelope with a Dell bar code and part number. A smaller sealed envelope attached to it had the license key inside.

After trying all the claimed fixes I could find, I called Microsoft Activation center at 888-352-7140. They admit it is MS software that set the bit in a DB that causes C004E003. They either can not, or will not tell me what is wrong that caused the bit to be set. They also say that only Dell can unset the bit.

So I called Dell. I talked... Read more

A:Activated fine for one year, now suddenly not genuine

Hi Chuck,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but its a non-genuine install, you were sold a pup

Your very first words "i built a computer"
Means that the only types of product key you can use legitamately are
OEM System Builder
Retail

You have a OEM only key, for use solely on Factory built models.
The product ID data, i believe, was for use on demo machines.

MS picked it up as non genuine when you started swapping your HDD's/SSD's
There is no way you can check to see if a 25 character key is genuine or not UNTIL its been on a comp for roughly 90 days, when MS performs a major genuine check.
The slmgr/rearm you used will only work another 2 times.

First of all, I have had this laptop for about a year. It worked fine with almost no problems. Until today where I got a prompt saying Windows was not genuine and the screen turned black with the words:

"Windows 7

I ran the MGADiag tool and here are the results

I have a Dell E1405 Inspiron laptop with a 100% battery charge. The issue is that the computer will not function without the adapter plugged in, rendering the battery as dead-weight. In the boot menu, the battery is showing as "Idle: 100% charged". However, Battery health is telling me "This battery can no longer provide sufficient power to your system and needs to be replaced'. So, I'm wondering, is my battery bad or is my PC not synchronized with the battery?

A:Dell Inspiron E1405 will not function on Battery Power, only AC Adapter

Could be a faulty battery or more likely it might be the jack thats gone faulty its quite a well known fault if the computer is getting on a bit, the contacts inside the jack tend to stick ....

I was trying to find a slim power adapter for my Precision 3520 with Xeon processors.  I ordered the 90-watt power adapter since the slim 130-watt adapter has a 4.5 mm connector.
I powered up the laptop and received a warning message that the 90-watt isn't enough (the laptop came with this wonky 130-watt adapter that is pretty big).  I ended up ordering a 130-watt adapter with 4.5 mm connector and I'm waiting on a 4.5-7 mm adapter to get here to make it work.
Today I thought I would try it out.  I hooked the 90-watt adapter up with the battery at 80%, opened up Kaspersky and started a full scan while also performing a backup, opened up the Netflix app and started streaming a movie, then opened up Philips SpeechExec Pro to transcribe with Dragon Medical Practice Edition in addition to the following apps: IE, Edge, Outlook/Word/PowerPoint/Excel/OneNote 2016, Sonos, Pandora, Amazon Music, Weather, Weather Channel, iTunes, Dropbox.  I was connected to an external monitor via HDMI and had the laptop lid open so the built-in screen was also on.
The 90-watt adapter was more than enough, although the charge took a long time to get to 100%.
I'm posting this in case anyone else is wanting a slim power adapter instead of the large one that comes with the laptop.  Google searches didn't find anything productive, so hopefully this will show up for anyone interested and that Googles it.

4.Now If I press the Power button again to make the Laptop ON,I am not able to make it ON.

I purchased a windows 7 enterprise license for 5 installs a year ago and installed it on two machines. It was validated genuine on installation on both. Yesterday one machine started notification that Windows 7 Build 7601 is not genuine. When I click the
link the genuine checker does not run and all I get is a blank page on IE 11. I tried to re-enter the key and it comes back as The product key you have used has been blocked by Microsoft.

Microsoft should honor the genuine validation it gave a year ago. If the key came up invalid back then I could have gone back to the seller. I feel Microsoft has culpability here.

A:Dell Inspiron 5040N AC adapter Lost Power once plugged into Laptop

Hi RAYB871,
Please check if there is any damage on the machine. Check if all the ports on the machine are fine or misaligned. Sometimes if the pins in the USB ports are touching each other, they are known to cause many issues on the machine.
Three components cause this issue, in this order:
Adapter - you have already tested another adapter, so ruled out.
DC Port - the port that holds the adapter in, might be shorted - you would need this part - http://bit.ly/2bQ3HoP
Motherboard - I would primarily suspect this part, if the dc port does not fix the issue, then it is the motherboard that has failed and needs to be replaced.
If there is no warranty, then you could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ
Personally, I would suggest, you invest your money on a new machine than to repair this old machine. However, it is your discretion.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

I haven't changed anything in BIOS, so it could be the power adapter problem? Which one should I buy to test it?I have all original parts in my laptop.I'm little surprised about this 130W Adapter. Could I buy dell adapter with params 19,5V 4,62A 90W or should I look at the 130W?

HELP!! I have SEVERAL laptops. Please don't ask how many we have. I have a ton of cords and I can't figure out what ac adapter goes with what laptop. One I have says Cannon. Great! Most of the others say "ac adapter." I've checked websites, but they ask for the part number. How in the heck do you find the part number on the ac adapter, (most of it is in another language?) Some have some LONG sec s/n numbers on them, others don't. I think their generic cords. The dells have names. I'm missing my samsung cord and need it asap!
Any ideas???

A:HELP identify laptop to ac adapter

Run the model number of the laptop and ac adapter in a google search.
You should be able to find out the output voltage of the adapter and may
whether the center tap is + or -.

I just put together a new rig. This is my only snag in setting it up. I went for vista 64 so I could utilize my 4x2gb (8) RAM. After installing Vista Home 64-bit, the device manager indicated that it could not detect my RTL8168(C)P/8111(C)P (realtek) integrated wireless adapter on my GA-EP45-UD3P mobo (gigabyte). After reinstalling the drivers from the disc, still no go.

I then fetched the vista 64-bit drivers for the wireless adapter off of the gigabyte website using another comp. After installing those, the device manager indicated that the device is working properly. However, when I try to add a wireless connection, vista notifies me that there is no wireless hardware to be found.

The device manager is either lying to me, or Vista's lying to me. Has anyone had a similar problem or any suggestions?
Thank you ahead of time.

A:Vista won't identify my 'properly working' Wireless adapter

Hello Ste13phen, and welcome to the vista forums

first thing I would check is that the device is enabled in the BIOS. a simple thing but I've missed things like this in the past

I have at T440s running Windows 10 v1803 with a strange issue. When I connect an Ethernet cable, the connection will continue "identifying" until I manually disable/re-enable the adapter from Network and Sharing Center. If I take no action, after 60-90 seconds, the connection will stall on "Unidentified Network - No Internet Access". This happens with EVERY cable I use at multiple locations, not just one particular place. I have tried: 1. Rolling back to a previous driver version - No change.2. Installing the latest driver from Intel - No change.3. Turning off "Allow Windows to turn off power to this device..." - No change.4. Uninstalling Bonjour (recommendation from Google) - No change.5. Formatted the hard drive and re-installed Windows 10 - No change. If a cable is connected before I power on the machine, it resolves just fine. I have searched the depths of the web for answers but haven't found anything that works quite yet. I have an Intel(R) Ethernet Connection I217-LM adapter with a driver date of 12.17.10.7 Any advice would be appreciated!

I have a 2 month old XPS15 purchased form the Dell Outlet Store in the UK. I usually have it permanently plugged in, but recently used it on battery power for the first time. I noticed that the battery wasn't charging, and the indicator light at the front blinks alternately white and orange (one white then one orange)
After a bit of investigation I found the BIOS Battery settings saying that the battery was not a genuine Dell battery and therefore wouldn't charge. I have not changed the battery - the machine is exactly as supplied by Dell.
It now pops up a warning about the battery whenever I power on.
I tried upgrading the BIOS (from 1.1.3) but every time I tried it would fail.
Is it now standard practice for Dell to supply laptops without genuine Dell batteries?

I will retain the power unit but need to know its rating - I would not wish to fry anything else. The label shows no rating, and the moribund hard disk also shows no rating. Can anyone identify it?
