Build 14371 and 14372 Anomoly .b8527aa

Q: Build 14371 and 14372 Anomoly .b8527aa

I seem to have something no one else has, but need to find an answer, if at all possible.

With Build 14371, I got one of those "How do you want to open this file?" messages. I tried to get a snippet of it, but no way. The minute I clicked on the Snipping Tool, it disappeared. So, I can only describe what came up:

How do you want to open this file?

Look for an app in the Store

More apps (with a down arrow)

Always use this app to open .b8527aa files

I chose the down arrow and then chose Word. From that point, every time I booted, I got:

Simrick and I worked with it last night, changed it to Notepad and got:

We searched with Google and Bing, but neither could find anything related to .b8527aa or the full name of adedcb.b8527aa.

What I've also Done

1. Ran sfc /scannow three times with a reboot between each scan. Nothing was found.

2. Ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth. Nothing was found.

3. Ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image RestoreHealth. Nothing was found.

It just occurred to me that I should run Windows Defender and Malwarebytes. I'll do that after this message is posted.

Do any of you have any other suggestions?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Will just add here that the file is located at appdata-roaming sub-folder named acf0a6.
Something is calling this file at each boot, but nothing shows in Startup tasks that I could find.

Hi,
I updated Windows 14371 to 14372 the other day, and haven't had much thought to check Outlook as it was the weekend.
Today, when I went to open Outlook 2016, and create a new email, I started typing the contacts name, and nothing appeared, so I went to check the Contacts section in Outlook 2016, and all my contacts were gone.
All my emails are there in my inbox, and other folders have everything still, just the contacts are going?!!?!?
Don't get it, never had any issues with this before in other inside builds.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution?

Version 10.0.14372 Build 14372 is the one I am running,
I don't know what happened but it is just stuck there at 0%.

I tried several solutions that I found on this forum and googling around but no success so far
The main two that I tried several times were
----1----
stopping the wuauserv by going into CMD as an administrator and running
net stop wuauserv

then deleting all the files in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution

then restarting the service and requesting the update again but still at 0% even after leaving my computer on for a couple of days.

-----2-------
the second one was using the "Update troubleshooter" from windows which is linked both here and in the Microsoft Forums but that didn't do anything.
I tried to do both by doing slight variations during the process such as stopping/restarting the bits service after stopping /restarting the wuauserv (first method), or restarting the computer before running the commands.

But no success yet.
I don't feel reinstalling windows and installing all my programs again since I am crunching hours trying to finish a project and the only reasons why I am desperate to fix this problem is because I am getting a warning saying that my PC will restart every few hours If I don't solve this issue.

You can see the screenshots below (first image is the stuck at 0% screenshot)

Microsoft Releases Windows 10 Build 14371 for PC

Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 Mobile build 14371 for the fast ring a few hours ago and it?s the turn of PCs to receive the very same build if they are enrolled in this fast track.

Windows 10 build 14371 for PCs brings just a new feature that concerns the way activation is performed on a desktop computer.

Microsoft says that it received plenty of complaints from users who were unable to activate their copies of Windows after changing hardware such as hard drives or motherboards so with this new build, it introduces a new Activation Troubleshooter (available in Settings > Update & security > Activation > Troubleshoot) that guides you through the necessary steps to activate your PC successfully.

?For example ? if your device has a digital license (formerly called ?digital entitlement?) for Windows 10 Pro from a previously installed activated Windows 10 build but you accidentally re-installed Windows 10 Home on such a device, the troubleshooter will automatically guide you through upgrading to Windows 10 Pro and activate Windows,? Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, explained.

Just one known issue
Furthermore, with this build the company is also introducing a new option that lets you link Microsoft accounts to the activation digital license.

?If you already used an MSA to log in to your activated Windows 10 Home or Pro device, your MSA will be automatically linked. You can... Read more

Microsoft today released Windows 10 for PCs build 14371 to the Fast ring, citing activation improvements as the main new features of the build.

It's perfectly normal to see fewer features in new builds as we get closer to the release of the Anniversary Update. From now on, we should plan on seeing more fixes and fewer known issues. Expect to see increased stability as July gets closer.

Today's build is no exception to the rule. While the build is light on features, keep in mind that ever since Dona Sarkar took over Gabe Aul's position in the Windows Insider Program, fixes are now listed as "improvements and fixes", which often include minor new features.

Here are the improvements and fixes in Windows 10 for PCs build 14371:

We have made a couple of key fixes for accessibility. We fixed the issue causing Narrator to not launch when you toggle switch to ?on? via Settings app > Ease of access > Narrator. We also fixed an issue where Narrator spoke at an unexpectedly accelerated rate.
We improved learning speed for some slow cases on Japanese IME conversion, and prediction candidate quality. We fixed a short hang issue in Japanese IME which had been there since the Windows 10 November Update.
We improved the file download experience in Microsoft Edge. Now if you click on a download link from outside of Microsoft Edge that quickly opens and closes a tab, we will open the Download Hub so it is more apparent that a download has begun and su... Read more

Microsoft today released Windows 10 build 14372 to the Fast ring for both PC and Mobile. The news comes just a day after releasing build 14371 for PCs.

As we get closer to the release of the Anniversary Update next month, we can expect builds to become more stable while omitting new features. Combined with the fact that we got a new build so recently, it's no surprise that there's not much new in today's build.

Mainly, the new build offers a new extension for Microsoft Edge:

Evernote Web Clipper for Microsoft Edge: Clip the web pages you want to keep. Save them in Evernote and easily find them on any device. Visit our extensions page at the Microsoft Edge Dev website to learn more and try it out for yourself.

Dona Sarkar also wants to thank everyone for participating in the Bug Bash. Insiders completed ~71,000 Quests and filed 81,217 pieces of feedback.

If you're on the Fast ring, you can get build 14372 by checking for updates. If not, you can sign up for the Fast ring on PCs by going to Windows Update -> Advanced options, turning on Insider builds, and when the PC reboots, setting it to the Fast ring. For Mobile, you'll need the Windows Insider app.

Because I had not made enough space on the hard drive available for the next upgrade beyond 14342, I remained on that version until today, when I found that it had auto-updated to 14371. Now 14372 is downloading.

I guess that the automatic cleanup after about 30 days from 07/May must have kicked in. As it happens, I have had a rather busy time, so I'm quite glad I missed out on the various intermediate version upgrades in the interim period, despite the laptop being on most of the time. Not being a very active insider recently because of that.

I am having a rather strange anomoly in windows xo pro that I have never seen before. It seems that everything is moving at an accelerated rate, i.e. blinking cursor blinks really fast, heck even the time in the lower right hand corner moves really fast, a minute on that computer takes about 4 or 5 seconds. I am dumbfounded as to what it could be. Could it the motherboard or something? I've reinstalled it because I thought it could be a virus or something but it still does it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a user who accesses her boss's calendar in Outlook (Outlook 2000 and Exchange Server 2000) by going File>>Open>>Other user's folder. She's been using it this way for months and months with no problem. She has it open almost all day as she very much manages her boss's calendar.

She just informed me that occaionally a reminder for a meeting or appointment will pop up on her screen. She'll check her own calendar and see nothing there. She checks her boss's calendar and there is the meeting or appointment she's being reminded about. This happens occasionally, not with all items in the calendar that have a reminder set. She said this hasn't happened before.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what's going on here? Since it's infrequent and seemingly random (from the end user's POV) I think it's going to be hard if not impossible to figure out. The good thing is that it's not so big a problem that she feels it has to be fixed. She can live with it but would like it to stop if possible. Any ideas?

When I open My Documents and click the column to "sort by file type" I get my "*.png" image files nested within my Word document files. Why would that happen?

A:File Sort Anomoly

The most likely reason is that you are saving them to your documents folder.

I have my ".png" files saved in a separate folder in my Pictures Library.

To fix your problem, create & name a folder in one of the Libraries that suits you & copy all the ".png" files in your Documents Folder to the new folder. Check that they all open properly & then delete them from your your Documents Folder.

In future when you create a ".png" file always save it to that folder created above.

Hope this helps you.

Hi,
I have a mid 2013 XPS 8700 and whilst preparing for Windows 10 I noticed issues around the SATA settings in the BIOS together with Disk Management in Either WWindows 8.1 or Windows 10.
In my next post, I'd be grateful if someone could just clarify what's going on.  My understand is...  limited....
Firstly, a photo of what I believe is the SATA numbering. Is this correct?
Next, a view of the cables in their original positions. (Blue goes to the 2Tb Seagate HDD (D_Drive) and Orange goes to the DVD.

When I experienced the inability to boot, and then happened a second time, I started checking the settings. It seemed that it couldnt repair the C drive and I wondered if it was trying to repair the D drive.
I checked Disk Management, and noticed that Disk0 was showing as the 'D'  drive, (i.e. the 2Tb Seagate HDD).
This seemed wrong, as the unit was supplied with both a Liteon 256Gb SSD MSATA drive loaded with Windows8 (as the C drive - and presumably booting first!),  and also a second Seagate drive (HDD) for the data.
At that time I did not record what Disk number was showing for the SSD but I am fairly confident that the (C drive) MSATA SSD drive was showing as Disk 0.
Recently, after taking an Acronis backup I unplugged the 2Tb HDD drive and download the Windows 10 TP .iso file for the third time and used it to both wipe the drives and install W10 'cleanly' onto the SSD.   I then confirmed that Disk Management was def... Read more

The two network cards in this computer perform the same for internet, file transfers on the LAN, printing, etc., except when the network cable is connected to the on-board Intel card, I cannot collect mail. It times out.

Mail collection is instantaneous when using the 3COM.

Windows 2000 with service pack 4 on Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 board with Pentium 4, socket 478, 3-Gigahertz processor and on-board Intel Pro/100 VE network card.

Additional network card is an add-in older 3COM 3c905b XL 10/100. Both cards are running the same protocols.

Anyone ever run into anything like this or have an understanding of why?

A:Weird anomoly between network cards

I have had the same timeout problem when name resolution was a problem. I don't think Windows is smart enough to direct all calls out a single LAN. In my case, Wins and LMHost had to be shut off before the name resolution timeout went away. Only left NetBios IP for names and a solid DNS connection.

Just a thought from my previous experience.

I've finally gotten videos to play in FireFox--most of them, anyway.

Subject site is CNN.com, the only one I've tried so far. Some videos play and some have just sound. The oddity is that on most that play just sound, if I just grab the video screen by its title bar and move it just a smidgen and release it, the video suddenly appears.

What's up with that?

Otherwise, there are no video problems on this system.

A:Weire anomoly with videos in FireFox

When I upgraded to 1.5.0.6, that solved the problem for me at CNN. You might try changing the video acceleration on WMP.
On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Performance tab. In the Video acceleration area, move the slider to turn down or turn off video acceleration. If it doesn't work, you can change it back.

While this post is provoked by Windows Photo Viewer (WPV) it is not necessarily specific to any particular software product but rather related to what, for me at least, is the absence of consistency between different products that are supposed to be doing
the same thing.

In this case we're talking about viewing a digital image on a computer display monitor.  My recent interest in learning about digital image editing has lead me to learn that color management is a pretty complex subject and that differences exist between
all of the devices involved in the process (i.e., work flow) of creating an image.  I also recognize that there is an inherent problem in trying to produce an image whose only purpose is to be viewed but that we don't have any control over what devices
our audience might want to use when viewing that image.  However, it is really troubling when a fully developed image looks dramatically different when viewed on the same device using different software.

I offer as an example a photograph in the form of a jpg image developed by a camera.  Since I also realize that you will be viewing anything I can try and show you with equipment and software unknown to me, the only way I could think to accomplish my objective
was to photograph my own monitor while displaying an image.  Keep in mind that image quality is irrelevant in this case the only thing I'm wanting to demonstrate is difference, which I'm thinking should be apparent no... Read more

This one has me stumped, hoping someone can lend a hand.
(The rig in question is up to date in my system specs)

I currently run a triple monitor setup, all the monitors were purchased at the same time, and are the following model:
Asus VS247H-P 23.6-Inch LED Monitor

The three monitors are all connected to: XFX DD Radeon HD 695X (Cross-fired with an identical OEM/Model/GPU) All three are connected to a single card (which was tested out of cross-fire beforehand, and each card was tested separately)
The monitors are arranged as shown below:
1-DVI ========2-Display port to DVI (active adapter)======3-DVI
With monitor one being the far left, monitor two the center display, and monitor three the far right display.

The best way to describe the issue: There seems to be a single blue pixel on display 2 that stays in the same place, but this pixel does not show up when the color displayed is solid white, solid black, or solid red.
To rule out the usual suspects:
-All cables have been checked with new replacements (on two different rigs)
-Both cards have been tested and work properly (on two different rigs)
-The cards are NOT overclocked
-The display that shows the pixel has been tested as well (the pixel does not appear on my test rig)
-Disabling eyefinity does not resolve the issue
-Removing the second card does not resolve the issue
My question: What am I seeing? A stuck pixel? Artifacting?
Could the active adapter be causing the issue?
If it turns out to be a... Read more

Eye Control (beta)
Yesterday, we announced Eye Control, which makes Windows 10 more accessible by empowering people with disabilities to operate an on-screen mouse, keyboard, and text-to-speech experience using only their eyes. The experience requires a compatible eye tracker, like the Tobii Eye Tracker 4C, which unlocks access to the Windows operating system to be able to do the tasks one could previously accomplish with a physical mouse and keyboard. We are starting by supporting the EN-US keyboard layout, and we are looking to expand to more keyboard layouts in the future. We are excited to release this experience as a beta and would love your feedback!

Setting up Eye Control:
Own or purchase a Tobii Eye Tracker 4C (Coming next will be support for Tobii Dynavox PCEye Mini, PCEyePlus, EyeMobile Plus, and I-series.)
Download and update to Tobii?s Core eye tracking hot fix release 2.10.11.6458 and run calibration with your own profile

Windows lets you link your phone and PC
You may remember at Build we talked about PCs and phones working better together. With Build 16251, we are introducing the first set of features that enable ?linking? your phone to your PC. This build?s scenario is focused on cross-device web-browsing. Today, we?re asking for you Windows Insiders to help us test this experience out using your Android phones. Support for iPhone is coming very soon, stay tuned.

To get started, after installing today?s new build on your PC, go to Settings > Phone and link your phone. Today, we released a new Windows 10 Preview Build of the SDK and the Mobile Emulator to be used in conjunction with Windows 10 Insider Preview (Build 16278 or greater). The Preview SDK Build 16278 contains bug fixes and under development changes to the API surface area.

The Preview SDK and Mobile Emulator can be downloaded from developer section on Windows Insider.

For feedback and updates to the known issues, please see the developer forum. For new developer feature requests, head over to our Windows Platform UserVoice.

Things to note:
This build works in conjunction with previously released SDKs and Visual Studio 2017. You can install this SDK and still also continue to submit your apps that target Windows 10 Creators build or earlier to the Windows Store.
The Windows SDK will now formally only be supported by Visual Studio 2017 and greater. You can download the Visual Studio 2017 here.
Known Issues:
Compilation fails on non-Windows 10 platforms

When building apps with the minimum target platform version set to 10.0.16278.0 you get the build error:

?The program can?t start because api-ms-win-eventing-classicprovider-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem.?

This will occur if the minimum target platform version is set to 10.0.16278.0. To work around this, edit your project file and change the version to a previous released SDK. For example:

Hello Windows Insiders!

Today we are releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16288 for PC to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring only (not Skip Ahead). As we mentioned previously, we are now at the point of the development cycle for the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update where our focus is now on stabilization for release to the world. This means that we are releasing new builds to Insiders more quickly and that these builds will include mostly bug fixes. You?ll notice that this build continues to include a bunch of good bug fixes Insiders will enjoy.

On Build 16288, you will notice that the watermark at the lower right-hand corner of the desktop has disappeared. You will also see that the OS now reports as ?Version 1709? which is the official version number for the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update release. However, this is NOT the final build as we?re not done yet. We?re just now beginning the phase of checking in final code to prepare for the final release. Hello Windows Insiders!

Today we are releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16275 for PC to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring only (not Skip Ahead). Note that if you joined Skip Ahead and leave it to take this build, you will be unable to re-join Skip Ahead. As we mentioned in the blog post for our flight on Wednesday, we are now at the point of the development cycle for the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update where our focus is now on stabilization for release to the world. This means that we intend to release new builds to Insiders more quickly and that these builds will include mostly bug fixes. You?ll notice that this build includes a bunch of good bug fixes Insiders will enjoy.

NOTE: Some of the x64 versions of Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise for this build in languages such as EN-GB, FR-FR, DE-DE, RU-RU, PT-BR and several others are not yet published. We?re working to have these published shortly.

We are also releasing Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 15245 to Insiders in the Fast ring.

Also ? join us on Tuesday August 29th at 10am Pacific for our Engineering Systems webcast on our Mixer channel!

General changes, improvements, and fixes for PC

Hello Windows Insiders!

Today we are excited to release Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16232 for PC to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring! We are also releasing Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 15228 to Insiders in the Fast ring. Earlier this week, we announced new end-to-end security features coming with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and this build for PC includes some of those new security features.

A note about app updates
In order to provide Windows customers with the highest quality inbox apps possible, we will pause testing new versions of our inbox apps with Windows Insiders. This means that Insiders will not receive app updates from the Windows Store for our inbox apps that are newer than the apps included in the build. Insiders may notice that some features we were testing in our inbox apps ? including recent updates to the Photos app ? will temporarily disappear. This is because some of our inbox apps won?t have all the latest new features without getting an update from the Store. It is critical that Insiders are experiencing the same version of Windows that will be released as the default version for all Windows users. Insiders will once again start receiving app updates in the very near future. As always, your feedback will help us tremendously to define the overall Windows experience and insure the quality of the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is excellent for our customers.

My win 10 pro build 10240 hasn't received the November update build 1511 while my other win 10 home versions have. I know I'm not the only one having this problem but here's my two cents. On my xw4600, I upgraded from win 8.1 pro to win 10 pro as soon as 10 was available some months ago. I still receive other windows updates. I downloaded the most recent iso from the media creation tool but I don't have an option to mount it from the right click menu. Both sfc and dism have no issues. I would burn it do a disk but I've read other users say its just reinstalled build 10240 instead.

I was using another random win 10 pro computer at work today and noticed it hasn't received the November update yet either. Anyone else with win 10 pro that did get the update?

Maybe this issue has more to it, like when I upgraded to 10 pro I had an issue with onedrive. I don't really use it so I only disabled it from startup in the task manager, but it as a service disappeared (except for registry entries and program files) and I haven't found a way to reinstall it ... yet. I know I could do a clean install of windows but that's not my style. I move from pc to pc over the years using disk images. This onedrive issue is the only problem I've come across that I haven't figured out, without a clean install. I mean, I wiped onedrive from my system completely, registry keys and all, but attempts to reinstall fall short (error corrupted file). During the attempted installation it place... Read more

RE : I downloaded the most recent iso from the media creation tool but I don't have an option to mount it from the right click menu.

Did you burn the iso to a bootable media, then insert the media to the computer ?
If that was what you did, then you would NOT see the Mount option.
Instead, you would see the Setup option. Use that to start the installation.

Can I install Icon Packs designed for Build 7600 to Build 7601?

An Icon Pack was saying install on to 7600 only and after I checked my regedit, I learned that I have 7601 (Probably SP1, I don't know).

Would I have any problems if I install the icon pack?

Thanks.

A:Can I install Icon Packs designed for Build 7600 on to Build 7601?

You can normally install icons anywhere you like, on any machine or system which uses them, they are merely small graphics of various types. Unless the "Icon-pack" is using software to install something else, ( in which case be careful what it does), you can install it anywhere.

Some "Icon-packs" make extensive changes to system files, are dependent on the system to which they are installed, and best avoided.

Hello Windows Insiders!

Today, we are releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17101 (RS4) to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring. We are also releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17604 (RS5) to Windows Insiders who have opted into Skip Ahead.

Flighting to Skip Ahead
Right now our focus is on stabilization for RS4. As part of the stabilization process, we have ?forked? RS4 into its own branch called ?RS4_RELEASE? just like we did with RS2 and RS3. Going forward ? RS4 builds will come from the RS4_RELEASE branch. This also means that we intend to release new RS4 builds to Insiders more quickly to both the Fast and Slow rings as these builds we include mostly bug fixes.

In RS3, we experimented with the idea of flighting two different releases at the same time with something we called Skip Ahead. A subset of Insiders were able to choose to ?skip ahead? to the next release of Windows 10 and receive builds from RS4 while we were finishing up RS3. That experiment went well as our engineering teams benefited from the early feedback. So we?re going to do it again!

Up until today ? Insiders who opted into Skip Ahead previously were receiving the same exact RS4 builds as Insiders in the Fast ring since Build 17017. Skip Ahead never ?turned off? and many Insiders remained in Skip Ahead since joining at the beginning of RS4. Starting today ? Windows Insiders who opted into Skip Ahead will now start receiving new builds for RS5 which is our next Windo... Read more

My current system was upgraded to windows 7 32bit from vista 32bit (I bought the windows 7 home premium upgrade disc when it was first released). I am going to build a complete new system. Can I install windows 7 64bit from the same windows 7 disc? Or do I have to buy a new windows 7 disc? Is there a way around buying a whole new disc?

A:Solved: New computer build work with old build's Windows 7 Disc?

It won't activate and you will end up in Safe Mode permanently. One machne = one license. You need to buy another full version. But you can do it if you don't use 7 on the old machine. You will just have to activate by phone and explain. Then if you go online with both, one will deactivate and go to Safe Mode.

So, recently (after the November build release) I woke the next morning to find that my computer underwent a rather major update. After which, it seemed, my home network was thrown out of wack. I immediately rolled/reverted/recovered to previous build. But now everything is out of wack. Most of the time I have to restart my computer just so it'll communicate with my printer to start printing. And restarting the computer is twice as long if it restarts at all. Most of the time It gets stuck in the "restart" progress animates (the rotating circles) and I have to press the restart button on the computer tower, with great regret and dread. Transferring files from one windows 10 device to another is a 50/50 hit or miss. I'm pissed. I'm not literate when it comes to networking and was super happy how everything was. But now, not only is my wifi home network out of wack, but my computer itself is wonky. I figure I might as well reinstall the newest build in hopes that it'll at least fix a fe of the problems. But anytime I check for updates, the newest build no longer shows up. Can someone please help?

A:Cant find newest build after rolling back to previous build.

Hi everyone,

After not recieving the AU from Microsoft I took a look at winver I noticed that my PC has never received or installed an update since the original Windows 10 build (Version 10.0 or build 10240).

I began to investigated and noticed that Cumulative Update KB3185611 keeps trying to install however Windows Update always fails to install this update giving me this error:

"There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help:"
No error code is provided.

I took a look at setuperr.log within the Windows.BT folder and this is the only error present.

Error SP CSetupPlatform::ResurrectNewSystem: Cannot resurrect new system.: Win32Exception: \\?\C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\NewSystem.dat: The system cannot find the file specified. [0x00000002] __thiscall UnBCL::FileStream::FileStream(const class UnBCL::String *,enum UnBCL::FileMode,enum UnBCL::FileAccess,enum UnBCL::FileShare,unsigned long)[gle=0x00000002]

I would really appreciate if anyone could help me out with this issue, as i'd like to move up to the AU :-)

Please let me know if you need any more info.
Thanks!

My current system (specs are below) is getting a bit dated and frankly, I'm just itching to build a new computer. Since the days of pentium 4, hyperthreading, socket 478, and AGP video cards are long gone, I'm looking for some advice and/or guides on where to look for ideas.

I like to play games although I wouldn't consider myself a gaming 'geek' in that I need the latest $600 card and $1000 processor. But, I do like quality. I guess what I'm looking for is a decent mid range system that'll make look FSX and Vista look good without breaking my bank. I'm partial to Intel, ASUS, and ATI but I'd really be willing to try anything as I know the market changes like the winds. I'm not real keen on the latest in technology (for instance, all I know a RAID to be is something we'd do in the middle of the night to the sorority houses looking for panties).

Any ideas or general directions you can point me in would be greatly appreciated.

I've been stuck on build 11102.rs1_release.160113-1800.
Going to Settings. Update & Security, Check for updates says "your device is up to date".
Checked for updates at least 10 times and always get the same response "Your device is up to date".

I don't want to download an ISO and clean install - I'd like to get the insider updates through
the standard update process.

Any suggestion or solutions?

Thanks

A:build 11102 will not download latest build 14271

Try this - worked for me in a similar situation.

I deleted all folders in the software distribution folder, selected to leave Insider Program from updates menu, rebooted, rejoined Program and then it found the updates. Try just deleting folders first and checking for updates. That works for some but did not for me (it was the leaving and rejoining that seemed to do the trick).

If you try rejoining and leaving, make an image backup of 11102 first, just in case leaving and rejoining should cause it not to activate (especially if you never started from a valid 7/8 licence). Good idea to make the backup anyway in case the upgrade fails (you would then have to go back to 10586 and start afresh)

Microsoft released Windows 10 for PCs build 14901 today, the first Insider Preview build since the Anniversary Update was launched last Tuesday. The company noted that it might take a few hours for the build to show for everyone.

As promised earlier this week, there's not a lot that's new. There are just two known issues and one new feature. Here's what's new:

Improving Product Education: As part of an effort to explore new ways of educating our customers on features in Windows 10 ? we are testing out new notifications within File Explorer. They?re designed to help customers by providing quick, easy information about things they can do or new features they can try to have a better experience with Windows 10. If you want to opt out of these notifications, you can do so by unchecking ?Show sync provider notifications? from the Options menu in the File Explorer View tab.

Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider Program, took the time to mention Windows 10 Mobile, which was the one version of Windows 10 that didn't get an Anniversary Update last week. She said that the team is "laser-focused" on getting the AU to Mobile, and she thinks that they're almost ready. According to Dona, you can help by installing build 14393.67 on your phone and submitting feedback.

Also sfc /scannow does not work "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service." - FIXED with batch file

Settings menu will not open since the start menu wont, even the personalization menu from the desktop does not open.

A:Windows 10 build insider build 14295

Assuming you updated to 14295 through Windows Update ?
If yes, try to reinstall using the newly released 14295 ISO file.....
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...mkD9g%29%28%29

Download the iso file that corresponds to your Win 10 Insider Preview version ( i.e. language and bit-version )> save it to a folder.
Right click at the iso file > click Mount > click Setup.exe.
Installation will begin.
No product key is required.
Activation will be automatic.

Hopefully, reinstall will fix the problems.

Hi All,
I am currently running OS 7 Beta RC Build 7100. Were do I get this newer version, is there a big difference? And am I able to upgrade to the newer Beta?

I realize that October is fast approaching for the RTM but I plan to keep running the Beta for a couple of months past the Grand Opening.

Is it possible that all the updates that I have received equally add up to the newer build?

A:Upgrade from Build 7100 to Build 7264?

I'm running the same build as you, but this beta is gonna expire soon, so we got no choice but to get the RTM.

Windows 7 has reached RTM builds
and there will be several candidate builds in RTM.

first candidate build of RTM is build 7260.

6.1.7260.0.win7_rtm.090612-2110 - RTM branch build

compiled on 12 june.

You may ask why the first assembly win7_rtm has already been collected on 12 June not 15 June. There are several working groups involved in the process of assembling win 7 RTM build and will be assessing the quality of assemblies. Once the assembly is collected and its quality is confirmed, only then they put to the vote.

you may take time to understand all of these steps and procedures, so only the assembly from June 12 and June 15, attained the status of the real candidates for the final RTM release.
