KMS Host will not activate Windows Pro/Ent after updating CLVSK to activate Windows 10

Q: KMS Host will not activate Windows Pro/Ent after updating CLVSK to activate Windows 10

I have a Windows 2012 R2 server running as my KMS host. This server has been in production for over 18 months. It services both Windows 7 Pro, Ent, Win8.1, Office 2010 Pro Plus and Office 2013 Pro. I set this KMS up via the VLS on 2012 and manage it via
VMAT 3.0 version 6.2.9200.0. After I replaced my 2012 server kms host key with the newer one that would activate Windows 10, did an offline via telephone activation. My issue is that now I can activate all my servers (2012 r2) but cannot activate any Windows
7 Pro/Ent workstations. My main error is "The software licensing service reported that the product could not be activated. No key management service (KMS) could be contacted. With that being said, I've checked to ensure that the KMS service is running
and that port 1688 is open. This was accomplished using PortQryUI. I also have verified that the KMS host is properly registered in DNS. Within the KMS event logs, I have Evt ID#12290 and in the Volume Activation Management Tool logs I have VMAT Runtime Evt
ID#1000 with error 0xC004F074. On any given WS (Win7) the Application event log shows Evt ID#12288 with 0XC0000022, 0x00000000 as it starter, with no #12289 entries. I've read where I should remove the newly installed host key, reboot, reinstall, activate
and then reboot. The strange thing is that when I run "slmgr.vbs /dlv all" I can see the newly installed host key as verified by the last 5 digits and it shows active and licensed. If I run "slmgr.vbs /upk XXXXXXXXX, I get an error stating the
key cannot be found. At this point I'm at a lost. All updates / KBs have been uinstalled prior to this license change. PLEASE provide some help as I stated earlier, all was ok until I upgraded my host key. I wish I could post actual entries, but my network
does not permit this.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi everyone, please help~~ I have been struggling for 2 days on this simple VMWare desktop deployment/composition.

After all the reading patiently today.. finally I know how to setup a KMS host. I made a win7 to be KMS host, and create the _vlmc srv record in the dns. I ran some commands to verify the status on the KMS host and it seems to be fine.

Now I would like to ask...let's say...after finishing a Windows 7 client installation.... Do I need to do something to make that Windows 7 client to be KMS client? Also, do I need to take any actions at all to activate the windows 7 license on the client?
( for example, click on the "activation link in the Computer properties") Or is it automatically access to the KMS host?

How about the Office Pro? On the same Win7 running KMS host for Win7 to be Office KMS host as well? Do I need to install Office on the KMS host again? What do I need to do to make the client to act as a kms client? Or is it also running automatically?

Thank you very much in advance, and hope you can share your ideas.

A:How do I activate windows on a Dell laptop which came with pre installed genuine windows 8.

It is possible  you have a pirated copy of Windows. Computers with a factory installed legal copy of Windows do not need to be activated. The activation code for Windows 8 is located in the system BIOS and is read automatically. You can check the code by using one of the utilities that will extract it from the BIOS. If there is a code, contact Microsoft and ask them if the code is valid.

A friend, who exhausted his resources at hand for trying to clear my infection, recommended I post here.

The issue:

* Was getting google search result redirects (seemes fixed after changing my DNS server)

* Cannot start Windows Defender (message: The Windows Security Center Service can't be started.)

* Cannot start Windoes Security Center Service

* Cannot start Microsoft Security Essentials (appears for a brief moment before evaporating)

* Malwarebytes comes up clean, Rkill comes up clean, Spybot detects two registry changes, says it "fixed" them, but the error remains in subsequent scans.

Hi Everyone,  I just swapped out the hard drive in my ThinkPad T510 and replaced it with a zippy SSD.I installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 thinking I have my Windows 7 COA (clearly visible under my battery). But I was unable to activate Windows 10. I called Microsoft and they said yes, I have a geniune copy of Windows 7 BUT that the OEM (Lenovo) was blocking the activation. I called Lenovo and they said it's a Microsoft issue. I called Lenovo again and they said I needed to pay $45 for recovery discs because my "real" Windows 7 code was secreted in a system board, and once I retrieved that, I would have to install Windows 7 on my new SSD, then upgrade to Windows 10 and the activation would take. Um, really? Isn't there an easier (and cheaper) way to accomplish this? Again, my Windows 7 COA is clearly visible under my battery but it didn't work. What am I doing wrong? And can anyone out there make it right? Thank you so much!

But when I install Windows 8.1 (Core) it does not detect the key. I used the generic key to install. When I try to activate with the key from BIOS it says "That key can't be used to activate this edition of Windows. Please try a different key."

I wonder what version can it be used to activate? Windows 8.1 Pro?

I have tried booting the installation media and use the [BIOS] key there but it won't work.

My version of Windows is not valid? I need to activate it but don't have a product key for the Vista Business that someone put on my laptop after taking out Windows 7. Therefore I can't do anything except get to the desktop if I start in Safe Mode. Help, what do I do?

A:Activate Windows

The seller must have installed Vista just to show the PC works.  You have some choices.  First go back to the seller and ask them about the Vista key.  I would not bother, IMHO, with Vista and install Windows 7.  So, ask about that with the seller, too.Otherwise, if that does not produce any fruits, get Windows 7 yourself and install. If you provide a more complete model number, there might be a Recovery disk set available from Computer SurgeonsGo to that linked site and fill in the model number

Alright so, a while back i for some absent minded reason upgraded to Windows 8 for fun. Pretty sure i was drunk or something. It completely broke my computer in 100 ways and i hated it, so i grabbed my DVD and went back to Win7. Only problem is, it keeps telling me invalid key. When i called Customer Support, i was told i have to re-buy Windows 7 because i wiped my HDD when Win8 installed.

Now SURELY there is some way for me to get Windows 7 back without spending tons of money, especially since i have already paid the outrageous price for Ultimate once. I'm not really understanding why it won't let me use the key.

A:Cannot activate Windows 7

A little more info is needed.
Is your system from a major manufacturer like Dell or HP?
If so was the DVD you used to do the reinstall from that major manufacturer?
Was the Key you used from the COA sticker on that system?
Was the DVD you used the SAME type, Home Premium, Pro or Ultimate, as what is on that COA sticker?

My problem is this: We had error message 0x800700c1 on the grandkids computer. Called the experts to fix it, they couldn?t do it. We were running Windows XP Home 2002 service pack 2. I had a go at it myself and was lucky to get trough safe mode start up to get the original XP install disk to work. I clicked on the repair option and everything was fine. I put in the product key which was accepted and I was requested to restart the computer. I felt real smart that I?d done ok when the professionals couldn?t. So I rebooted and the message appeared: Microsoft has to activate this product before you can log on, do you want to activate now? I clicked yes and the picture of the former desktop background appeared and 30 minutes later nothing had changed. No activation, no notification to call tech help, nothing. I then re booted in safe mode with internet only to get the same message, Microsoft has to activate-----. This is the second time this install disc has been used and there should not be a problem with it. Can somebody help, please?

I have moved my OS to a new hard drive (from HDD to SSD) AND reinstalled it because I wanted to start afresh. I did not use a new .iso, I used the recovery option. Since then, I discovered that Windows 8 wasn't activated and so I tried to do so with the product key I found via Produkey, a third party software. It didn't work and I contacted Microsoft several times. They confirmed it was an OEM that had been blocked since it was used "over 100 times", and that I'd need to contact HP to get the key (which doesn't make sense to me - is it the same key? The key in the BIOS? If so that's pretty pointless since it doesn't work). The general gist I got was to contact HP since it was their problem, not Microsoft's. However, looking for a phone number/email/anything for HP has been a nightmare since my warranty expired back in 2014 and the only support for out-of-warranty products is unrelated to my problem. Can someone help me with getting a hold of a real person at HP or something? I refuse to spend more money buying the same OS again. What options can I take? Note: currently my OS is actually 8.1 because I thought it might've been the OS version that was the problem. It didn't work.

Hey guys n gals, my mom got a new computer few months back and it came with xp preloaded with the windows 7 cd in it(was a double bundle to upgrade if you wanted)

She really likes xp and doesn't welcome change much. So I decided to take the windows 7 cd to install on my computer but the cd key won't verify and keeps giving me the '3 days to activate' thing.

Is there any way for me to actually use windows 7 since its just wasted sitting there collecting dust, or is there some sort of key embedded on her motherboard to verify that THAT windows 7 will only work on THAT computer?

Thanks in advance.

Using an AMD Athlon Dual Core x64 4200+ 2.2ghz, 2.2 gigs of ram, radeon hd 4670, 300watt psu if any of this matters.

And if its possible for me to run windows 7 with that cd, how does my 2gigs of ram work into it? Would I be able to install the 64 bit version and actually play some recent games okay, even on low settings(like skyrim, BF3, etc?) it's an older computer but supports 64 bit vista, and the windows 7 upgrade advisor tool said everything was fine to upgrade.

A:Can't activate windows 7

It will run fine. If you have the Gigs, why not make a small partition of about 30 gigs or so, install 7 there, and test it out. But don`t activate it. That way you don`t have to get rid of your older system yet. Any questions, just ask. There is a wealth of knowledge here.

My bad, I re-read and saw you already put it on your pc.

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I have a bit of a problem with my mothers laptop and I couldn't find other cases that matched mine.
We bought her a new laptop: Toshiba KIRA, pre installed with windows 8. Due to her work requirements, we needed windows 7 professional. So I wiped it clean and installed windows 7 on it and all was running well. I used a copy of a windows 7 disk I bought 4 years ago with no product key or information, just the disk. 30 days later, of course, the time has come to activate windows. So when I log into the computer and the message appears and I click 'buy a new product key', redirected to Microsoft page and downloaded the LegitCheck for validation. After this process, an error came up saying that product keys are no longer available for purchase and that I couldn't activate. I contacted Microsoft support through live chat and she checked out the Product ID and it was registered as an OEM copy and that I'd need to contact the manufacturer.
I don't know a lot about OEM or whatever, but I do know it's a once of thing, tied to the one PC forever. I have concluded that I would need to buy a whole new OEM copy of windows 7 and wipe the other one off. Finally, I come to my question: If I buy the said product and it comes with the OEM product key, am I able to enter that key under system properties where it says the product ID and 'Change product key', OR do I have to wipe the computer completely and reinstall it, entering the product key when prompted? I built a system a few months ago and things were running great.  Then I noticed Chrome was acting oddly and I got a pop up that said my copy of Windows 7 is not genuine and I need to activate.  I was on the phone with Microsoft and the OEM version key I bought is legit. We tried a number of different things and he said he couldn't do anymore and I would have to pay for further service.  I am getting error code 0x80070005.  I am guessing it is malware.  I tried to use some of Microsoft's tools but no luck.  The ball is your court......

Pulling my hair out

After my hard drive failed, I have done a clean install of Windows 7 Pro that I got from Microsoft as a student. I have always always done the clean install when I had to do an install and never had an issue before.

This time when I try to activate I get this:

I clicked the top option and get this:

I entered my Product Code and clicked Next

After a bit I get:

Basically say I can't my Product Code with clean install. There is NO option for activation phone or any other method.

I resorted to doing a search for this problem and found this page.

Clean Install Windows 7 with Upgrade Media

I tried to use Method #2. I made the changes in the registry and closed it.
I then ran "CMD"

and got this message:

I don't have a clue how to elevated privileges for this process.

I did take ownership of everything in the windows folder but that did not help any at all.

I really don't want to have to install Windows again. This is the first time it has worked well in two weeks.

Please ... Please ... Does anyone have a way to fix this or another method I use to activate my windows?

A:Cannot Activate Windows 7 Pro

Hello Huffman,

Be sure that you are opening an elevated command prompt while doing OPTION THREE in the tutorial below for the same thing. The command prompt that you opened in your screenshot is not elevated, so that is why you are getting that error message.

Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

Hope this helps,

Laptop purchsed on 15/5/2016 @Qatar . Now Iam getting  message stating that windows 10 going to expire on 30/7/16

A:HOW TO ACTIVATE WINDOWS 10

Hi,  What is the message EXACTLY ? I don't think that message has anything to do with your computer. I think it a a message from Microsoft which reminds people to upgrade machine to Windows 10 for free. The end date is 29Jul2016, after that date (ie from 30Jul2016) Microsoft will charge people for upgrades. Regards.

I recently reinstalled windows for a friend using a cd from another friend. The laptop has a cd key at the bottom of it (since it came with a license) but the XP cd used never asked me for a key. I guess the disk wasn't legit or whatever, is there a way I can activate windows with my key without reinstalling the damn thing with a good cd?

Thanks.

Here's the problem that I'm having: I am running a Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade on a Vista computer. I have a retail set of Win. 7 discs that I upgraded from about a year ago. All was working fine, until... I installed a skin from Microsoft for my media player and it killed my media player. It wouldn't load after that. After being unable to repair Media Player I decided to move all my important Documents off my C: drive onto my external and reload the OS. Install went smooth and all works fine except it will not activate. It comes up as Genuine with WGA and when I go to support.microsoft.com/pag and click on "validate now" it takes me to a page to download and install Microsoft Security Essentials which says your copy of windows must be Genuine in order to dl and run this program. I have it dl'd and installed on my PC. Everything says it's genuine but still it refuses to activate. I get this error message: [code 0xC004C003 The activation server determined the specified product key has been blocked.] When I try to activate by phone the computer gives me the /pag web address which tells me my copy is genuine. Around and Around we go! I'm getting dizzy and pissed off! What can I do?

A:Windows 7 won't Activate

Hi Professor_Freak,

All Windows keys has a set amount of "allowed installations". In this case it has been bloocked because it has been installed on too many machines with the same key, thus denying you to install it on "any more machines".

You need to contact Microsoft and explain your problem and they'll release the block on your key, providing it's a valid legal key.

Basically last week when i logged on, it said Windows Needs Activating, Activate now. So i clicked Yes, and it said it was already activated and left me the in the famous " Windows Activation Loop ". So i booted into safe mode, and messed around with the key in the regedit which allowed me to activate windows when i logged on. So it came up with the options, i tried the internet one but it said it can't connect even though my internet is connected ect. So i opted with the telephone option. It gave me the number, so i ring it, it comes up with the automated voice asking for the Instalation ID. So i typed in the installtion ID on the phone numbers, and it said it was being generated or something. Then it said " Error, we couldn't activate the ID or something like that and told me i might be a victim of piracy blah blah blah. So i contacted a Microsoft Techi, told him my problem, and he asked for my computers product key, which i provided, and he said that its incorrect or he couldn't find it ect. Told me to contact my Computers manufacture and purchase a new Windows CD as i've lost my current one.

So now im stuck. The hardrive is secondhand but i've had it for over 2 years and activated windows about 2 times already on this PC without a problem. Is there anyway to activate windows with a generated product key of the internet or is that impossible. I've actually activated windows by going into safe mode, going into regedit > WPAEvents and putting in a key t... Read more

A:Can't Activate Windows

That does not sound correct. Either the Product Key is valid or it is not. Getting a new CD is not going to fix an invalid Product Key.

Do you have a Microsoft Product Label with a Product Key on it? Where are you getting the characters for the Product Key from?

I suddenly get a message screen telling me I have 3 days to reactivate Windows?
I have done a system restore to several days earlier but it still appears.

Fairly sure it is a virus or scamm because the Microsoft Privacy screen it takes me too says visit a site but part of the URL is missing and just a snail mail microsoft address shows?

Can anyone throw any light on my problem or suggest a fix?

Pretty sure it started after an Adobe Update?

The background: Had a Dell XPS that took a lightning hit through the cable modem and blew out the motherboard. (Power supply, hard drive and all else were okay. Modem was cooked!) Bought a Dell (I think Dimension) that had no hard drive, but a 3.2 Ghz Intel 4 processor, assorted peripherals. I pulled the 160 GB SATA hard drive from my XPS, popped it into this one. Wouldn't boot up windows. Ran diagnostics from BIOS, everything checked out. It just kept saying something about "to protect your computer windows has shut down." And gave an error code. Anyway, I never had a reinstall disk, so I bought one. When it asked if I wanted to repair the edition of XP Pro that was already on the hard drive, I hit "R." It went through it's reinstall steps. Everything seemed to be going according to plan, up to that point. Had a hiccup or two getting it to boot to Windows from there, but now the bootup seems to be working, after a fashion. When I turn it on, it boots to the Windows welcome screen. Then I get a dialogue box that says: "This copy of Windows must be activated with Microsoft before you can log on. Do you want to activate Windows now?" At this point, I can click "No," on that dialogue box, it returns to a welcome screen, and then brings up the welcome screen with my personal settings and log-in name from the hard drive. And I get the same dialogue box again. "This copy of Windows must be activated with Mi... Read more
