I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My newly acquired T470p has suffered from unexpected reboots lately. Today I figured that moving it by holding it single handed triggers the reboot - I suspect the bottom cover is flexing, causing temporary shorts or disconnections. This is my first thinkpad without a rollcage: is this normal, or should I replace the laptop? This is my main machine, and I am working abroad (I bought the laptop in my home country) - what service level should I expect in the US?

Just got my brand new work laptop (T470P 7700hq, 16GB), sometimes it completely freezes. I especially noticed it when I was installing some problems. I ran Prime95 without problems, but when I killed it the computer froze again, with that I can repeat the problem (as soon as I kill Prime95, de computer locks up). It's completely unresponsive, can't restart it with CTRL+ALT+DELETE, not even the capslock light can be changed, it looks like a complete CPU halt.

I was initially very happy with the power consumption off the 470P but after a while I discovered that the indicated runtime sometimes decrease substantially for no reason even when I close all apps and just viewing the desktop. With some investigation, I have found out that the CPU "loose" or stops using the Package c-states from C10 to C2 after running for a while, could be from a few minutes to a couple of hours after boot (the core C states are fine). When it loses the package c states they will not be active again until reboot, sleep or timeout from "Turn off display  XX minutes". It does not help to close all programs and just view the desktopI have used Hardware Info(64) to verify this but windows also reflect this directly on indicated runtime. When on battery the idle "Package Power" increase from about 0.4Watt to 2 -2.5W and I see a reduction in battery runtime from about 10 hours (lite use) to about 5-6 hours. It also acting differently regarding c states when on battery, plugged in or in docking with 3 external monitors (max c6 in docking). Not that I care when AC is connected but it runs hotter and that I do care about. To trouble shoot I have also installed another instance of windows 10 (dual boot) but the problem persists no matter what. I have also tried to remove the memory module I installed but the problem stays. I have installed two bios updates and every other new hardware driver since I got it in April. The only thing that have made a dif... Read more

Hi and thx for letting me join the forum  My son is considering buying a used Thinkpad T470P laptop and is having some questions. The 470P is apparently equipped with a 256GB m.2 ssd disk mounted in the SATA slot by the M2 adapter. He is considering if it would be possible to move the M.2 to the M2/WWAN slot and putting his "old" ssd disk (2" - 480GB) in the SATA slot. 1) Are there any limits regarding capacity of the Drive mounted in the M2/WWAN slot2) Is it possible to boot from the drive in the M2/WWAN slot3) Would there be any performance differences between having the m2 disk connected to the M2/WWAN slot versus having it connercted to the "normal" SATA slot regardsHenning Lang

Had a brand new Thinkpad T470p and after taking a flight (and plugging the machine into the powerport on the plane) the machine would not charge any longer. When booting from any power source, the machine would tell me that the AC Adapater was not powerful enough to charge my machine.  After working with Lenovo Tech Support and receiving a new AC Adapter for the machine, they finally gave me a new machine. Yesterday it happened again after taking another flight and using my laptop on the plane. So figured I'd do some research and found the solution rather than go through the same thing with Lenovo. Here's an existing thread that goes into detail on the issue: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/W540-charging-bug-WiFi-OFF-no-charge/m-p... There's a "bug" in the Lenovo Power settings that puts the laptop in Airplane Power Mode (whatever that is). Apparently the software is designed to avoid high-powered laptops from drawing too much power from the airplanes power port which is rated at 65W, not the 135W the T470p (and likely other more powerful Thinkpads). BUT, the software does not correct itself when you plug back into a proper power portin your home or office and the error messages do not accuratly reflect what's going on.  All you simply have to do is go to Lenovo's Power Settings and turn off Airplane Power Mode to either Balanced or High Performance and all is well again. Wish Lenovo tech support would have known ... I don't know if this the right place for this  post, but I have a big problem with my thinpad T470p.After last BIOS update my computer run slow, very slow. I figure out that I almost never use the CPU to 100% even in stress tests and I always get the CPU frequency to arounf 1.5ghz instead of the 3.8ghz of mine CPU i7 770HQ. Though some time the CPU is able to reach 3.8ghz and the computer start to work nicely again. I guess lenovo have massed up something in the power menagement in the BIOS is the only thing I can think.I'm a electronic engeenier so don't respond here with stupid thing like format the PC, ecc beacause I know that would not fix nothing, I really think that either I have an hardware issue due to termal (like a cold joint) or is BIOS bug.I think I just have to wait for a new BIOS and maybye fix something. Thanks for the attention, PS I notice something, basiccly I lose performance when  the CPU require more power. So I'm running for example at 3.3ghz than start chinebanch and run the CPU test and my frequency go down to 1ghz and the CPU voltage is dropping. I have normal temp at 3.3ghz. Is basicly doing the reverse thing of what is suppose to happen. Could this be caused by something bad in the CPU VRM? Hi, I have a quite strange monitor related issue with my beloved t470p. My two Dell monitors connected through DisplayPort interfaces of my docking station. Everything is fine, the picture is brilliant, so I have nothing to complain about except one thing. When I start watching Netflix on one of the monitors, that monitor turns off ) Maybe this is something built in 'get back to work' feature, but I don't like it. It is no matter if I try win10 Netflix app, or start a movie in a browser, every time is the same. I suppose this is maybe related to the copy protection functions in the Intel driver, but I'm not sure. There is a newer driver available on Intel's website, but I cannot install this because we have a vendor customized version of the driver  Do you have any idea? Have you seen something similar before? Thank youLaszlo

Hello everyone,Recently, I have encountered issues where my ThinkPad T470p would shut off intermittently, either while plugged in or while on battery. This issue has appeared since last month, and the one year depot warranty has already expired. I've disassembled the laptop, but I do not see anything that seems out of the ordinary. The issue resolves a bit, for one week, and then this event happens again. Cables seem secure, and being a new machine I stopped there, but I have to verify. It is hard to trace the source of this issue. Usually though, in most cases if I move the hinges a bit, this issue occurs, whether on battery or plugged in. I tried ruling out overheating issues by running Prime 95 stress tests and montioring core temps with hwinfo, but temperatures are nominal and well below critical temps. I also used the hwinfo sensor logging to csv's tool and tried to analyze the information leading up to the intermittent shutdown, but I canot see any discerning stats upon the last seconds. When the issue occurs, the entire machine shuts down, like you're pulling the plug on it. To start it up again from the cold state, you need to remove the battery (because if you press the power button at this stage, the entire keyboard and power button blinks and the fan briefly turns on, but then turns off again), and then place the battery back. I tried the removing the battery and holding down the power button trick for 1 minute, but the issue still arises. This issue also occur... Read more

I have the same problem. It began with to bright spots in the lower part of the panel, one in the left and one in the right corner. They came from one day to the other; now, a few days later, two, larger, non-circular blothes have emerged in the centre-left of the screen. The PC is not even a month old.

I did the pixel test mentioned - and it does not appear to be faulty pixels; the blotches remain visible with all colours, except for black, which is basically all the pixels turned off. The shape and size of the blotches also point to something else than pixel error.

Any idea what this might be? It is certainly getting worse by the day.

Thanks.

But the truth is that mass produced monitors are usually significantly off in terms of color balance, too green, too blue, etc, and most people just don't notice unless they see two monitors side by side with the same image. In addition to showing us wrong colors, incorrect color balance can make printing images an exercise in frustration. Fortunately, monitor calibration is an easy way to solve the problem, and should be done by anyone who cares about color. Unfortunately, trying to do it by eye (e.g., Windows Display Color Calibration) is crude and imperfect at best. What's needed for good results is a colorimeter, a hardware device that can accurately measure the color of a monitor.

I received my CTO Yogo 370 last night via UPS, and I could not be more pleased.  I haven't had a Thinkpad in several years and the quality has clearly held up since the pre-2005 sale w/ IBM.  Although the build / ship took just about as long as Lenovo said it would, their order status system / process between China & North Carolina leaves a lot to be desired.   The folks in NC are very pleasant, but clearly have no control over what happens in Hong Kong and are working from some really old data every day. About the machine though, some things are different, some things are the same, but overall I'm very impressed. The keyboard definitely has a different feel, there is less actuation pressure to strike a key but it's not unplesant. The track pad is the usual IBM / Lenovo unit and I'm getting used to using one again after 8 years on a Mac.  I like it better than carrying a mouse around for sure. With mid-grade specs, (Core i5, 8Gig, 128GB Sata 3 SSD) the machine is very quick for general MS Office work and web browsing. I spent a couple of hours setting up Windows 10 and although we use it at work the bit that took the longest to get right was the start menu, the menu kept crashing on me when I resized an icon, and resetting to defaults but after a few tries it's working fine. The whole family is amazed with the Yoga hinge and the lift & lock keyboard. The PC shipped remarkably free of bloatware, just a couple of pr... Hello everyone, I have a Lenovo ThinkPad P50 configured with the 4K screen that is about one year old now. It recently developed an issue with the screen where a specific portion of the screen on the right side flickers when there is a dark color being displayed there. If the screen is displaying white in that area, then it does not flicker at all. I have never experienced this before with the screen. This issue occurs regardless of which program is open. I have completed all the updates and reinstalled the graphics drivers, but the issue persists. What else should I do to resolve the issue? Does this issue sound like a possible hardware failure or is it more likely a software/driver problem? I have an update to the issue; the issue has worsened. The right side of the screen has now developed a pitch black band that is wider at the top and tapers at the bottom. The mouse cursor disappears when dragged to that edge of the screen instead of just stopping along the edge. Additionally, I can see a shadow on that side of the screen when I look at the screen with a dark grey background. I will have to conclude at this point that the LCD is bleeding and defective.

Hi everyone,  I see "One fan error. performance down. continue to boot?" message when I boot my ThinkPad P50 (type 20EN): It loads normally when I hit "y", but one of the fans is spinning extreme from time to time once when the temperature goes up to 50 C (=122 Fahrenheit). During the test stress load it doesn't go higher than 70 C (=158 Fahrenheit). I assume that the other fan has died, at least there were some rustle sounds coming out there before it finally started showing "One fan error" after some boots. I bought the laptop 7 months ago, brand new. Any idea how can this be correctly diagnosed? I couldn't find any software which could show me that boths fans are spinning. Thanks in advance!

Good day! I'm trying to remove the back cover of my X390 to inspect wailing cooler. Having removed 5 screws with the Lenovo instruction, I could not lift the upon-battery part of the case as if it is glued to the battery. Could it be really done or I just should to attach more power? Thanks.

Hi, I own a Thinkpad X1 Carbon, recently the LCD rear cover got broken. It is really a nightmare for me to find the right spare part. I found the spare part on eCommerce websites like eBay, Amazon, Alibaba, Aliexpress etc. however the Part Number is different but FRU number is same . My laptop's detailsPart Number: 60. 4LY22. 004 TORAY A04FRU: 04X5564 However I found the spare part with below detailsPart Number: 60. 4LY22. 001 TORAY A01FRU: 04X5564 Is part number really matter while buying the spare part?
