I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

It sounds as though the screen has failed. The "bubbles" may be because a screen protector has been applied to the Helix?

If it's still under warranty, you could get it checked out. Start here, enter the serial number, and raise a service request or talk to Lenovo support for advice.

Hi there, I have a spectre x360 which I am using with 2 monitors: 1 x 24in monitor plugged via HDMI - HDMI lead1 x 27in monitor pluged via mini DP - full size DP lead I have the laptop screen and the 2 monitor screens on at the same time - so effectivily im using a total of 3 screens. Everything works fine until the laptop goes to sleep. When I wake up the laptop, the laptop screen and the monitor plugged in via HDMI turn on. The monitor plugged in via display port doesnt wake up. The only fix is to unplug the mini displayport cable and plug it back in to the laptop - this wakes up the monitor. The issue with unplugging and plugging the cable back in is all the windows that I had opened get moved about and its very frustrating. Please advise how I can get the laptop to wake up both monitors. thanks

Just found a very interesting problem.  I just purchased a new 27" monitor and connected to my Dell XPS (9343) using a mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable.  The laptop was on and running when I connected everything and closed the lid.  Everything was working beautifully, until I ran WIndows update and had to reboot.  Then all *** broke loose.  The machine started beeping like crazy and the battery charge light started blinking orange then white and then it shut down.  After I recovered from my almost heart attack (I thought my laptop had died)...I opened the lid and hit the power button and it started up fine.  I closed the lid after it rebooted, and continued to work fine.  So as a test, I restarted the laptop again with the lid closed while the external monitor was connected and again the beeping and the orange light blinking.  Proceeded to turn it back on with the lid open...everything fine.  I checked the BIOS settings and everything seems to be normal.   It seems there's a problem with this laptop not being able to be restarted in the closed lid position when an external monitor is connected (something I do ALL THE TIME with my Lenovo work laptop that is also connected to an external monitor).   Has anyone else had this problem?  Is Dell aware of this issue??

I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem.  It first manifested itself after upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1 -- touch and pen worked fine for a few days, then suddenly the touchscreen only recognized pen input.  Not wanting to part with the machine entirely, I waited for the Windows 10 upgrade.  The machine would not successfully upgrade until a few months after Windows 10 was released, when Microsoft's update labeled "build 1511" was released.  Again, pen and touch both worked fine...for a few days.  Since then, the touchscreen will only recognize pen input. The odd thing is that not just the Windows OS has been affected.  I dual-boot with a Debian Linux, and it has exhibited EXACTLY the same behavior. Currently, all installed OSes recognize pen input only.  Is there some hardware troubleshooting beyond Device Manager (which says the touchscreen is functioning fine; I have disabled, reenabled, uninstalled and let it rediscover, all to no avail) that I can do?   There was a touchscreen update from Lenovo that I've tried to apply, but that update says it's not needed and won't go any further than that. Everything is current, including the BIOS of both the tablet portion, and both of the keyboard docks I have. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  ThanksSteve

I just bought a used graphics card (Radeon HD 6870) because it has mini displayports for the sole purpose of connecting to my Apple Cinema Display (LED version).

I've tried inserting the mdp that comes out of the ACD into the graphics card and nothing happens. At all.

The graphics card itself works just fine when I use the DVI to my dell.

I'm not sure if it's the ACD not being compatible or the ports being inactive/dead. I'm not sure how to test for the latter since I don't have any other mdp devices.

I'm really stumped. I want to clear up my desk and just use my ACD alone.

I'm suffering from a creepy issue that my P50(E3-1505M, 16G non-ECC, M2000M) stutters while connecting with my external monitor (Dell [email protected]*1200) via the onboard mini displayport. It seems no problem while I connecting them via the onboard HDMI port, but if I connect them via the mini displayport (wether a miniDP-DP cable or a miniDP-DVI cable), the PC stutters while running 3D programs (like some 3D games), and, meanwhile, the CPU usage gets EXTREMLY high. I just want to know what's the issue probably be in this case? The Graphic card seems normal, and the mini displayport works, but how can a mini displayport connection makes the CPU usage high? Thank you!

I charge my computer via the usb type-c power connector since that is the correct way to do it. Obviously my computer has very few ports.  It seems a waste of a port to use it to power my machine.   Isnt there some way to use that port as a usb type-c port, AND, at the same time, use it to power the machine.   Power requires only 2, maybe 3 wires.  Isnt there a way to 'split' the port to allow me to make use of the port as a USB port?

When I boot up without a connection to an external monitor I experience some display issues with text sizing of certain objects within certain applications (e.g. Microsoft Visual Studio).  In these applications parts of the User Interface display perfectly.   Other parts of the same application will have vastly oversized objects and text.  And, in another application the text is greatly undersized in certain portions of this app. When I boot up while connected to an external monitor everything displays perfectly on the external monitor.   This happens without making any changes whatsoever to system display setting or application configuration settings.  If I disconnect the external monitor the X1's internal monitor still displays everything perfectly.   But if restart while disconnected from an external monitor I experience the same display issues as described in the 1st paragraph. I don't think this problem was always there, but  I cannot say for sure.  It just got so annoying that I finally decided to write to the forum today.   I would guess that the problem has been this way for 1-2 months. The Lenovo System Update app tells me that everything is up to date.    Is there some setting or perhaps driver that needs to change? Tim

I have an original series HP Spectre x360 13-4003dx with Windows 10. I cannot connect a vga display to the x360 Mini DisplayPort. I am using a miniDisplayport to vga cable from CableDeconn. Typing (Windows) + P, I try to switch to dual displays, either mirrored or extended, and also try to click on "detect display" but get the error message, cannot detect. i have rolled back the graphic drivers to the original install, and also updated to the most recent. Neither works. I also removed pin 9 from the VGA side of the cable (15 pin cable, reduced to 14 pin).  I removed the pin because I heard that some cables send voltage thru that pin, and shouldn't. Nothing works. i have tried it on a Planar vga only monitor, a Samsung VGA monitor, and an LG TV (vga connector), all of which work with other equipment.  The hdmi to hdmi connection works just fine. i have spent hours and am very frustrated.  Any hints or help is  greatly appreciated.  I'm about to go to the dark side (Apple). Upon suggestion of lenovo changed BIOS mode from hyprid to discrete.I have these two issues from day 1:When i attach a monitor using the right hand side mini displayport, it is not recognized. Monitor stays in stand-by, no sound played, nothing happens. Inserting the same cable into the port of a W540 (Win 8.1) monitor immediately wakes up and can be used up to its full resolution (3440x1440).inserting laptop into ultradock (230W) it only recognizes one attached monitor. BIOS password entry lock was not shown on external monitor when lid was closed, needed to enter "blind" and press enter, only upon windows boot the monitor (Lenovo 27") was recognized. i think after changing to discrete mode now it showed the lock symbol when starting with closed lid. but still no second monitor is recognized. This is the first thinkpad in my history where such basic things do not work at all.I noticed once i had Intel and Nvidia context menu items when presing right mouse botton on desktop screen, now i only have "Nvidia Control Panel" and "nView Desktop Manager" shown. The charger for the computer seem unnecessarly large and heavy.  Are there other chargers out there in the world that would fit, be electrically compatible, and work? Chargers are rated in Volts and Amps.  If the Volts are right (and the pins are right), and if the charger is underpowered (low Amps), all that should happen would be the machine would run down much more slowly, (and recharge overnight). So how many charging Amps are required by this machine?  And are there other chargers that might work?  How should I search for them?

I have a Dell Latitude E7450 laptop with a E-Port Plus II port replicator connected to two external monitors using DisplayPort which will not output to multiple monitors.
I have another Dell model and when placed on the port replicator with two external monitors connected, booting into BIOS/UEFI the screen is cloned onto each monitor. However, when doing the same with a brand new Dell Latitude E7450 only one screen is active - the other is off. Within Windows itself, I can only have 1 monitor connected to the port replicator. If I undock, I can run 3 monitors independently indicating an issue with the dock rather than a hardware limitation with the laptop itself.
I believe the above tests eliminates the OS or driver issue and highlights a compatibility issue between the new Dell Latitude E7450 laptop and E-Port Plus II port replicator. I have tried this on 2 separate machines with the same results. I have also updated both the graphics drivers (Version 10.18.14.4170, A16) and the BIOS (Version A04) to the latest releases. I have also tried using DVI cables as well as swapping out the port replicators. Nothing works. In Windows 8.1 itself, it actually shows as two monitors active, but one is not on. If I swap out the monitors to a different brand, I get the same result.
Is there a BIOS/UEFI setting I need to change? Is there a newer port replicator or update I need?

A:Dell Latitude E7450 compatibility with E-Port Plus II with external Dual DisplayPort monitors

Did you resolve this issue and, if so, how? I have the same laptop (but running Windows 10) and the same docking station with the same results.

My external monitor ASUS PB278Q stopped working. I switched out the DP cable which is newly purchased. Other inputs like the power adapter and the wireless mouse I attach to the docking station do work however. I'm not sure what else I'm looking at. I haven't tried using the other inputs like the hdmi (id have to buy an adapter) or the VGA and the one other one it has since I dont have cable for those... I'm not sure how to resolve this. On the XPS 15 9550, can an external monitor with Displayport inputs be connect directly into the laptop's USB-C Thunderbolt output using a straight miniDisplayport-to-Displayport cable?  Similarly, can a miniDisplayPort to VGA adapter cable be plugged directly into the USB-C Thunderbolt port to drive older monitors/projectors? Or is the TB15 Dock mandatory in order to get the computer talking to  external video devices through its Thunderbolt port output?

I recently bought an HP Envy 32 monitor and hooked it up to my Mac mini using a mini DisplayPort (i.e. Thunderbolt) to DisplayPort cable. The video works fine @ 2560x1440, but I have no sound. The sound output in system preferences mentions "The selected device has no output controls" for the Envy 32. The sound works fine when I use an HDMI cable, but then the resolution is limited to 1080p. Hi all, I am trying to connect 2 external monitors (Asus VW22AT) to my W550S laptop.Via the VGA connection, it works fine (for both monitors, i tried one by one), the display automatically sets to 1680x1050 resolution. My problem comes from the mini displayport which i used with DVI adapter (I also tried with VGA adapter), I can't get the 1680x1050 resolution, it recommands to use a 1920x1080 resolution but the screen is blurred. If I manually set to 1680x1050, the image doesn't use all the screen, each side is black on 3 centimeters thus the image is also blurred. Do you have any solution please?Best regards, Jean

Are there any adapters to do this or ways to do this? I can't seem to find any.

I am buying new monitors, the dell u2414h. Now, while this does have hdmi, I will be connecting multiple monitors together to extend the display from the laptop to give me multiple screens. The problem with this is that it only works if you use displayport and not hdmi, so I need a way to convert the hdmi to displayport or mini displayport.

I will primarily be using these monitors with my laptop that has displayport, so that is why I am getting these monitors and that won't be a problem. I will most likely hook up other laptops to the monitors and hdmi is way more common from what I have seen on laptops than displayport and is why I need a way to go from hdmi to displayport or mini displayport.

Any ideas? Thanks.

You can't, HDMI does not support daisy chaining in the manner that DisplayPort does and you can't use a simply adapter to go from HDMI to DisplayPort and get the features of DisplayPort.

Basically, I have this eye-finity graphics card, and it has 5 mini display ports, I need to buy a Mini-display port to VGA, but I'm not sure which will work.

On Amazon they have Mini-display port converters for Mac, they all seem to be Mac related, would a mac one work on my Windows PC? since it is just a converter? If not, then where could i buy one for PC for cheap?

I appreciate you taking your time reading this.

A:Mini-Display port to VGA converter

A few to choose from here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...sNodeId=1&Description=mini+displayport&Page=2

It is a hardware adapter, so the operating system doesn't matter.

I'm using a T430s and a mini dock plus series 3. This is the dock with the dual DVI, dual DisplayPort, 1x VGA. I do not use the laptop's built-in screen; just the 2 external monitors. Intel HD4000 graphic chip and Nvidia Optimus/ I previously had 2 20" monitors with a 1680x1050 resolution using DVI-to-DVI. They both worked fine. I upgraded to 2 24" monitors with a 1920x1200 resolution. The laptop is not recognizing the second monitor. I have tried:dual display port (dock side) to mini display port (monitor side): only 1 monitor recognizeddual dvi (dock side) to HDMI (monitor side): only 1 monitor recognizedI ruled out monitor and cable problems by swapping...each by itself works fine. Looking up specs, I believe this resolution should be supported by DP or DVI. Can anybody confirm that this is a supported config? Any ideas what is wrong? UPDATE - I did try 1 DP/mDP and 1 DVI/HDMI: this does work. However, its not an ideal solution because it would interfere with the monitors ports which I want to use for a second PC. UPDATE 2 - OK, now I am beyond aggrivated. I also have a support ticket w/ Lenovo where they suggested switching to Integrated Graphics only in the BIOS. I tried that, no luck. After changing that setting back, i tried to get my 1 DP / 1 DVI working, but now it would not recognize dual monitors. ??? After some testing, I'm finding that the -only- setup that works is the following: Dock DVI port 1 to Moni... Fixed; was a driver issue. Problem seems exclusive to a Dell u2415 on DP port 1 only of the dock or to the laptop's DP port (at least for the couple monitors I tried). It's possible it could affect other monitors. My starting point: 9.18.13.4535 / 9.17.10.2843 (Nvidia /  Intel) The latest driver from Lenovo is 9.18.13.4535 / 8.15.10.2725. I'm not sure how i have a slightly newer Intel, but that's what it was. I couldn't install the Lenovo driver. I also couldn't install a newer driver from Intel (10.18.10.4276). In both cases Windows or the Intel installer stopped me saying the mfr provided the drivers and that the installed version was up to date. I worked around by first rolling back the Intel driver. The manual (.zip) install of the latest intel driver worked. This immediately fixed the Dell u2415 on DP port 1 and laptop's built-in DP port.

Hello, What I miss most on notebooks and convertibles, is that the display is always attached to the keyboard and you cannot increase the distance between them. This shouldn't be the problem with a thinkpad helix convertible notebook, however I'd need a cable to connect them, as the keyboard contains an additional battery and is not connected via bluetooth or similar. Thus I'd like to buy the connectors to create such a cable. Does anyone know where I can buy them? Edit: I've found one at aliexpress, but I'd like to have a more serious source, as the description says nothing about whether it is the male or female part of it. Kind regards,Daniel

I have an odd issue with my mini port that connects to monitors and big screen TVs: It won't work. Sometimes it works fine. I turn on the monitor or TV and connect the mini port adaptor (I have one for HDMI and one for Display Port) and the screen appears on the monitor or TV. Other times it simply DOES NOT WORK. Then, several days later, I boot up and connect to the port and it works as if nothing was ever wrong. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why this happens. When it does not work, I have tried everything and it refuses to recongize and identify the external display, which does not show in Display Properties. I have rebooted. I have tried connecting to the port in every order there is, before I turn on the Y 900, after. I have tried turning on the monitor before and after, or connecting the adatptor the monitor before and after booting up, etc. NOTHING WORKS. And it happens with all monitors and various cables and adaptors. There are times when I need it to be able to see my work (video editing, audio editing, Photoshop) because the native screen on the Y 900 is just too small. Why does this happen?  How can I get it work when I need it to work but it isn't working? Thank you.

For 6 weeks I have had no problems driving my 30" dell from the W520 displayport at its native 2560x1600 as the single "projector" display. Today, I aroused the laptop from sleep as usual, and was greeted with a blank Monitor and the laptops internal display on, with a fixed unchangeable resolution of 640x480. after about 5 reboots (includring removing power and battery), I found a way to get the W520 panel back to 1080p,but it wont display anything on the external monitor.  The monitor works fine connected to the displayport of my dell laptop, so I dont think its anything to do with the monitor. Interestingly, If I have the monitor plugged in, and do "Detect Displays" in he windows Display->Screen Resolutoin dialogue, I get this: 1. ThinkPad Display 1920x10802. Display Device on: Mobile PC DisplayAvailable Display output on: Nvidia Quadro 2000MAvailable Display output on: Intel(R) HD Graphics Family what on earth is a "Mobile PC Display?" If I disconnect the DisplayPort and detect displays, the "Mobile PC Display" goes away.  During the many attempts to fix this issue, twice I saw the message "Nvidia user experience driver component has stopped working", but I cant find specific steps to reproduce this. I have done no sw updates, nor installed any SW or changed any configuration in the last 2 weeks. I have tried all the combinations of connecting an external Projector:Show desktop on 1Show desktop on 2ExtendDupli...
