T440s 20AQ Touch not working Windows 10 Upgrade

Q: T440s 20AQ Touch not working Windows 10 Upgrade

Upgrading from Windows 8.1 (touch working) to Windows 10 I lost touch functionality. I've tried replacing the LCD myself after cracking the first one just to verify the ribbons were connected behind the LCD assembly (factory tape/glue is holding them down). I haven't tried ordering the Windows 8.1 Restore CDs and rolling back. I can confirm it's not a hardware issue. I'm guessing it's firmware related. Similar to the Yoga touch problems Lenovo's been having and those users upgrading to Windows 10. Checking the forums it looks like updates have been hit or miss. I've tried downloading Windows Tab Installer Package, the Yoga LCD Firmware Updates (unable to pass hidident.exe to update), downloading the SCCM package and looking for any type of installer and none's available. Leaning towards a firmware incompatibility. Can anyone at Lenovo confirm this for me? I can understand the 20AQ had a limited run compared to 20AR (non touch) and the Yoga Series. Still it'd be nice to have someone confirm. It's a shame the laptop is only a few years old. If there's a beta firmware package for the touch digitizer I'd be happy to try. Intermittent response would be better than none. Thanks all,

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

So after much hesitation, I just upgraded to windows 10. Now I regret it. I used to be able to scroll via touchpad, now I can't. I looked up solutions and tried to go to Snaptics (On my computer it says 'Snaptics Clickpad V8.1' if that tells you anything), but when clicked it says: "Unable to connect to the Snaptics Pointing Device Driver. If you have installed another PS/2 pointing device driver please uninstall the snaptics driver by clicking on the yes button. you then need to reinstall your pointing device driver for your external device again. Do you want to uninstall the snaptics driver now?" And then gives yes or no options I'm not sure what this means, or what I need to do to fix it. Any help is appreciated!

Hi, Try the following. First, download the Synaptics software installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72001-72500/sp72344.exe Next, open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry 'Synaptics Pointing Device Driver' and select Uninstall. When this has completed, restart the notebook. When windows has fully reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click the Synaptics installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again. Open windows Control Panel and in the top right, next to View by: select 'Large Icons'.  From the new layout, select the Synaptics entry and check that the scrolling options are checked and Save any change - see the image below.  Regards, DP-K

I have a Lenovo T470s with multi-touch (MODEL: 20HG-S0DT00). The stock screen is only 250 nits. It uses Incell touch, not a separate touch digitizer. I want to replace this with a much brighter screen. I am not finding any compatible FHD touch screens, so I am looking at WQHD options.Initially, I ruled out using the great HDR Dolby Vision 500 nits display from the 2018 X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga because those panels are eDP 4-channel (I believe) and a post on here or thinkpads.com says that the T470 motherboard only supports eDP 2-channel. However, I began to suspect that was incorrect and today I found a post on Reddit confirming that the T470s motherboard supports 4-channel eDP: https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/7uqxlf/just_finished_my_t470s_fhd_qwhd_transformation/dtm...Therefore, I think it may be at least theoretically possible to make this upgrade. Multiple people have already upgraded T460 and T470 ThinkPads to non-touch WQHD panels. However, I do not see posts from anyone who has upgraded from FHD touch to WQHD touch, and that's what I'm trying to do. Any suggestions are appreciated. I do not know which cable to purchase and I do not know if I will have problems with the top cover or any other parts. Installed the latest Win10 update on my T440s and now my Touchpad is not working. It appears to work when the driver is first loaded but fails within 1-2 seconds.OS: Win10 Home 1511 build 10586.122Touchpad driver: 19.0.17.27latest BIOS update installed whilst trying to fix issue. It appears drivers were downloaded as a part of the Win10 download. Presumably there are bugs in this version of the driver. Any idea how we can roll back to 19.0.17.2? That appears to work on similar machine config. When opening driver settings software, only pointer options are Trackpoint and Classic Trackpoint. The Touchpad settings appear to be greyed out. How about timings for a fix? It means all mouse movement must be via Trackpoint only. Not very good.

A:T440S Touchpad disabled after Win10 1511 upgrade

Hi Ped,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

Some of the most common problems with touchpads are:

The touchpad starts and stops working or has never worked.
The touchpad is too sensitive, or it moves the cursor too fast.
The cursor sometimes jumps to another spot in a document or on the desktop.

Some of the most common causes of these problems are:

The touchpad has been enabled or disabled. The touchpad might have been mistakenly enabled or disabled. The touchpad can be enabled or disabled in several ways, including using keyboard shortcuts (key combinations on the keyboard), using Device Manager, or by using the touchpad settings in Control Panel.
The touchpad settings might be set incorrectly. Most touchpads have adjustable settings and these settings can make the touchpad function improperly if set incorrectly.
The sensitivity of the touchpad is set too high. If the sensitivity is set to high on the touchpad, any slight touch can cause the cursor to randomly jump to another location of the screen. To resolve this issue, lower the sensitivity setting of the touchpad using the touchpad settings.

Please try doing this below step:

Go to Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, click Mouse then select Elan option. You can enable the features you need HTH

I hope the above information helps.

Regards,
Shashi

Then it stops again )- uninstalling driver and let Lenovo System Update do its job (no effect)- refreshing Windows (no effect)- completely formatting harddrive and reinstalling Windows from DVD (no effect) then trying all of the above again (same effects) I know its not a hardware failure, because when booting Ubuntu the touchpad works just fine! Settings->Touchpad->Additional Settings->ThinkPad shows the Touchpad in Grey. The Dropdownbox "Pointing Devices" only offers "Use Trackpoint Only" and "Use Classic Trackpoint Mode Only". This does not change at any time while performing actions listed above. Hello Everybody,
I have a Latitude E7440 non touch screen version that needs a complete new display assembly due damage. I was wondering if it is possible to fit a complete touch screen assembly as a replacement? Many thanks,

Everything was working perfectly fine on my T440s with Windows 10 Pro, I am not sure what caused the issue, May be a driver upgrade touchpad is no more working. I suspect that it's not a hardware issue because button clicks works and scrolling in web pages works. A:T440s keyboard stops working

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that a few keys of your Lenovo ThinkPad T440s is not working properly.

Check if the keys are working in different applications. Some keys such as the function keys F1 through F12 will not work with every program. An easy way to test this is to open notepad or other word processing program and trying the key. Try getting into safe mode and see if the keys work. Remove the key from the keyboard and clean it. In some situations dirt, hair, dust, etc. can obstruct keys causing them not to work.

Please try to get into BIOS mode and see if the keyboard is working there.

1. If you are able to use the keyboard in BIOS, it could be a software issue. I would recommend in that case to do a System Restore which will revert the settings in your system to a previous time.

2. If keyboard doesn?t respond in BIOS as well, it probably indicates a faulty keyboard. I strongly suggest you to contact our technical support for assistance.

Best Regards,
Mithun.

Right now, as far as I know, the following keys are not working anymore: Y, T, BACKSPACE, TAB, CAPSLOCK and left SHIFT. T440S with Windows 8.1.  Bluetooth worked fine for about a month but now the device manager reports, "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43)."  I have tried disabling and then enabling the device, but within a few seconds of enabling, the error returns and the device is stopped.  I have also tried uninstalling the device, then doing a scan for new hardware, which reinstalls the device, and again after a few second delay, the device is stopped with the same error again. When the problem first started, I was in the middle of using my bluetooth mouse.  There was not any installation or update immediately prior to the problem. Searching the web reveals many posts related to Intel's 7260 and bluetooth problems, but of course Intel refers everyone to the manufacturer for such issues.  Searching here for bluetooth and code 43 returns nothing.  Might this be a hardware failure?  What else?

HI,I have an annoying issue with my new T440s.Trackpad stops working after I get it out of sleep. In fact, it works partially (two finger, edge scrolling is OK).Even I re-install the driver, it won't work everytime.Any suggestions? Is this a hardware issue?thank you.

Just more information about the issue: The trackpad is acting like being disabled in BIOS.2 finger scroll , side scroll are fine. When my screen dims down, I touch the pad and screen is back up."enable touchpad" is grayed out in Mouse Properties under control panel. All trackpad features are fine, only the mouse is not working.Another thing I noticed: when I get to Windows login screen works fine (sometimes), but then, once I get authenticated and get Windows loaded, its stops working.BTW, I'm using Windows 7 Driver reinstall, reload factory image, enabled/disabled in BIOS.. nothing helps.Hopefuly a Lenovo stuff would read this and share some thoughts. This is my second 440s replacement. First one did not wake up, after it gets to sleep.

Hello Lenovo Community, I have a Lenovo T440s but the three mouse buttons above the clickpad do not work. However if I uninstall the synaptics driver, the mouse buttons work but then click won't, kinda. Only tap to click works, no two-finger scrolling.  If I install the synpatics driver the mouse buttons do not work and I get full multi geasture support for the clickpad.  Lenovo Technical supports wants me to ship the PC.  Does anyone else have a different solution. Even in the mousepad settings, the mouse buttons do not show. Thank you

Hi! T440s, Windows 7 Professional. Never had a problem, then suddenly the two-fingers scrolling capabilty of the touch pad stopped working. When going to the Control Panel, Mouse, I get (when clicking on Mouse) the error message "Unable to connect to Synaptics Poînting Device Driver". If I then click on OK in the error message windows the Mouse menu opens but not sure what to do there.Thank you for your help`!

Hello everyone, my touch screen on my lenovo ideapad z400 touch is not working anymore.  The only weird thing I remember is some ghost touchpoint on my screen. I've been looking for the answer to this issue, but it seems that Lenovo does not address this problem.  If someone has found the solution to this problem and wants to share it with me, I will be forever grateful.

My X220 tablet comes with pen and limited touch support with 2 touch points. I have no issues on windows 7 but on windows 8.1 it has changed to be working with only 1 touch point since some time that I don't remember exactly when. So that I can work with one finger only and 2-finger functions such as pinch to zoom are unavailable. My drivers are all uptodate. I think I should completely uninstall the related driver before reinstalling but don't know how to procede and couldn't find the solution. I tried uninstalling all HIDs through Device manager and one-by-one, specifically wacom device. when I uninstall it, I lose touch option completely. but reinstalling through Device Manager sounds like recovering exactly the previous faulty condition. Maybe there is a conflict with windows 8.1 like Microsoft Input Configuration Device which might be unlikely.  So is there any other way to have full wipe and clean reinstall of those touch screen drivers? I appreciate it if you put links to the drivers for me, if they are not available on Lenovo Support. Tell me if you had the same touch issue in Windows 8.1  and how you solved it. Thanks

The touchscreen stopped working suddenly on my Envy TouchSmart Sleekbook 4-1115dx. At first i though it was like a normal failure and that will get fixed by turning the pc off or restarting so I did not pay attention to it until now that I had restart my pc multiple times. Currently running win10. I started to believe it was because of an update a few days ago since it was when the problem started but all drivers and everything is up to date. I have checked for the HID-compliant Touch Screen driver and had to  show hidden divices in order to find it. I cannot enable it and when i check in the properties the following message displays: "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer." I have no idea on how to connect or how it got disconnected. I come from a similar thread but did not solve my problem. I have been researching this for hours and have not found and answer. Help please!
