I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

CHROME import/export bookmarks, cant get my HTML saved bookmarks back into Chrome!!!!!

Import/export bookmarks, cant get my HTML saved bookmarks back into Chrome!!!!!

I used to use Internet explorer, then Firefox, and now Chrome as my default browser.

I had to do a updated computer rebuild, and before doing so, i saved my bookmarks as a HTML file, on an external hard drive. After I set up the new computer, and dragged this HTML file of my (over 1200 bookmarks) onto my new desktop.

I went to BOOKMARKS,BOOKMARK MANAGER, THEN "IMPORT FROM ANOTHER BROWSER",abut all the only choices are for, ANOTHER BROWSER, NOT from any file on the computer.

I first tried to import this file into internet Explorer, but that interface seems to also have changed, and it seems whenever I click on the "IE' logo on the task bar, something like YAHOO, or MSN, pops up instead......what happened to the original internet explorer and all of its tools? (YES, I can see the tools or setting, or Internet options on the right of each of these sites, but HOW CAN I GET MY FAV BOOKMARKS HTML FILE BACK INTO CHROME AGAIN???????????? Any Help?

A:CHROME import/export bookmarks, cant get my HTML saved bookmarks back

Hi I'm kind of confused,
Chrome is much like but not exactly the same as Google toolbar,
Simply signing in would make Google or Chrome bookmarks available,
That is what Google does,
It stores everything on it's servers,
So the basic question is are you signed into Chrome ?
Cheers.

I bought a brand new H50-55 today.  Everything set up smoothly except my internet bookmarks and favorites bar items.  I press "import bookmarks" from Internet Explorer, it says done, but when I check the list, nothing was imported maybe 3 or 4 sites.  Does anyone have an answer, an idea, or a solution to this problem.  Your help/suggestions or solution to this problem will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi Fellows,

I've had this problem in several installs of W7 x64, including this current fresh one. It usually happens about a month after a fresh install.

Here are some facts about the problem:

1. The only icons affected are .mht, .htm., & .html.
2. File extensions are fine - no issues.
3. .mht = Internet Explorer ... both htm & html are associated with Firefox.
4. In Firefox, when using "Save Page As", in the Explorer window that opens, the icons are always there! This has been true in each install of W7, though after a year or two they will sometimes not appear in this case as well. Then, they'll suddenly reappear.
5. Rebuilding the icon cache didn't fix it.
6. Changing the file association temporarily didn't work. When changing htm & html to IE, the icon appears. But changing mht to Firefox doesn't cause an icon to appear, not does the correct IE icon appear when I change the association back to IE. Changing htm & html back to Firefox doesn't work, either.
7. No custom icons, file extensions, etc. are involved.
8. Other icons in the same Explorer window .. DO appear, without fail.

Would appreciate any help for this annoying problem. Below is a screenshot.

Thanks is advance.

Hey guys,

Not sure which forum this goes in but this seems appropriate for my question.

All of the below is on a domain

Our users have a mixed variation. Some use Chrome which is great as you can log in to chrome and all your bookmarks etc.. are there.

Now I think you're getting my point.

With other Internet browsers specifically IE (which users favor over Firefox) is there a way you can bind bookmarks that are linked to an account so that when the user logs on from a different PC all their bookmarks are there.

So for example.

Bob Marley uses IE and has over 200 bookmarks. His PC breaks therefore he gets a brand new one. However when he logs on his bookmarks are no longer there.
-------------

My initial thought was, surely if all things are backed up to the sever, as long as they log on it should pull their account and all their bookmarks etc..
But then I realized that IE was a program and programs don't follow a  user.

Any input would be awesome!

A:Internet explorer bookmarks

This may provide some guidance on how to make a script to perform this when an account is created to move the Favorites folder to another location that is already mapped on the users profile on the server that way they will always have it.http://www.howtogeek.com/115412/change-the-default-location-for-saving-internet-explorer-favorites/

I am having a lot of problems with the new version of Firefox locking up my computer and have uninstalled it. Guess I will try to get used to the new Internet Explorer 7, although I much preferred Firefox. Every time I try to bookmark one of my favorite web pages, IE7 asks me to log into Google to do anything with the bookmarks. Is there any way around this? It is a real pain to have to enter a password any time I want to access my bookmarks. I do have the Google toolbar loaded, if that has any effect on IE7. Thanks for your assistance.

Is there a way to use my google bookmarks without installing the google toolbar? IE7 already has a search bar and the only other thing I would use the toolbar for is accessing my bookmarks. I know there are a few things for firefox like Gmarks, but I want the same thing for IE7.

Does something like this exist?

I have encountered a problem recently with Internet Explorer not remembering bookmarks or my homepage. I have IE 10 with Windows 7 Professional as my OS.

I have reloaded my bookmarks three times and while the browser is open the bookmarks are there but once I close my browser and re-launch it the bookmarks are there. The same with my home page. I set my home page in Internet Options and once I close my browser and reopen it my homepage is gone.

Has anyone run across this? What the heck is going on? Thanks!

I installed all the bits and reinstalled windows 7 32 and did all the updates and got it running ok.
When i went to import my favourites/bookmarks to IE8 the problem starts. It says finished but when i go to look only half of the bookmarks are there. They start from the letter L and go to Z but the A to K are missing. I have 4 copies of thes bookmarks taken at different times before my pc went wrong and they all do not import properly.
On a laptop i have the backup bookmark and if i double click it it shows me all facourites so i thing the backup is correct.
The file is listed as a html and not htm if that makes any difference.

This started about 3 days ago, and I'm not sure how. I've run Spybot, AVG and other programs, but nothing seems to stop it.

Whenever I click on a link in my bookmarks, it gets deleted in the folder almost automatically afterwards.

The bookmarks that get deleted seem to happen at random. When I replaced the bookmarks and clicked them again, sometimes they are fine while others that survived the first round get erased, while some bookmarks remain untouched. This happens to bookmarks in completely different folders, and my history seems to have been left untouched.

Any ideas?

A:Internet Explorer is randomly deleting my bookmarks

Uh oh. Sounds like a defective hard drive might be the culprit. Go to the HD manufacture's website, download and run what ever drive checker they recommend. Be forewarned that sometimes drive checkers end in BSOD, so backup your important files first.

My understanding was that google bookmarks don't stay on any one computer anyway, but on the Google server. That should mean that you can access them from any machine with an internet connection.

If you refer instead to bookmarks in the google chrome web browser follow the "Best Answer" instructions in this thread on the Google support forum.

On my old XP machine I had a large collection (hundreds) of bookmarks, aka favorites.  I followed the prescribed procedure to import them to Google Chrome on the new Windows 8 machine:
1. Export the "favorites" to an HTML file
2. Transfer that file to the new computer
3. In Chrome, select "bookmarks", then "manage bookmarks", then "import bookmarks from HTML file" and select the file
4. Open the HTML file (options were "Open" and "Open as read-only", I chose the first

The only trouble was, the bookmarks didn't transfer.

I did check the HTML file, it does indeed contain all my old bookmarks.

So what am I doing wrong?  The file is named "bookmark.htm" (rather than *.html) but that is XP's doing, not mine.

The original bookmarks/favorites consist of 1,274 "Internet shortcut" files in 118 folders under C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Favorites .

Do I need to change the extension on the "bookmark" file?

A:Can't import IE "favorites" to Chrome bookmarks?

First, are you signed into Google Chrome? This will require the creation of a free GMail account. You don't have to use it for much, maybe to get a free piece of software, to to give out to those whom you know or suspect may spam you. Then try the below instructions. This was how I imported my Firefox bookmarks.
