MSI Digital G45M Digital a Good Replacement for an Old Biostar Micro Atx motherboard?

Q: MSI Digital G45M Digital a Good Replacement for an Old Biostar Micro Atx motherboard?

I was looking for a motherboard to replace my old biostar motherboard that will only support 2 gigs 667mhz, and only overclocks my e5200 up to 3 ghz even when maxing out the voltage. I am on a very tight budget, and this Msi board caught my attention http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130219

Then I checked the MSI website to get more information on this board
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=&cat3_no=&prod_no=1711

This board catches my attention because....

Its New
Its a Micro Atx with the Pci express x1 below the Pci express 2.0
Drmos Really caught my attention because it states that it makes the board energy efficent, offers a lower tempature and a more stable overclocking enviorment

Do you think its a good budget motherboard for a gamer and an overclocker like me??

Preferred Solution: MSI Digital G45M Digital a Good Replacement for an Old Biostar Micro Atx motherboard?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L will do the job nicely and help you save money. It is also a more reliable choice compared to the MSI board.

Hi,

I've recently switched to Digital Audio (S/PDIF) (High Definition Audio Device) using one Toslink cable instead of all the analog wires going from my PC to my receiver.

The digital sound is amazing, CD quality from my PC is great.

However, I now also receive the digitized sound of pages being loaded as I surf the web. All sound comes out digitized when loading a new page.

Is there a way to stop this from happening while listening to music or course material without gong back to analog?

Can I have my digital CD quality and enjoy it too!

On board sound cards are not known for their quality but try going in to your sound panel and muting all input and output sources you do not use (like mic and analog)

Hey everyone

I just got a set of Boston Acoustics Digital Media Theater Speakers. They're pretty nice for 1999. I'd probably go as far as saying they're the best set of computer 2.1s I've ever heard.

Problem is, I can currently only run them through analogue because I have no digital cable for them. The connect on the sub looks like either a digital coax or RCA connect, which should run out to the 1/8 in. mini digital out on my SoundBlaster Live! card.

The manual doesn't say exactly what it is anywhere. It shows a picture of a cable with a single RCA end and a 1/8 in. mini stereo end.

Problem is, every such cable I find is mono on the mini end.

Any ideas on where to find a such cable?

Thanks,

Joe

I attached a picture of the back, it is blurry, but you can at least see what it is. (top right jack)

I assume you're running Windows. Which one?

I do a lot of audio work on mine, using Windows XP SP 3, and was able to kill the sounds by opening the Control Panel, then Sounds and Audio Devices, and then click on the Sounds tab. For "Sound Scheme" select "No Sounds" and click the "Save As" box.

I purchased a MICCA Speck G2 media player BUT after I got it home I realized that my monitor does not have an A/V or HDMI port - which are the only cables that came with the media player. I then went & purcased a HDMI to DVI-D cable so I could connect the player to my monitor - HOWEVER - I still cannot get them to talk to each other! Sound functions but reciever is only detecting 2 channel output. Apon browsing RealTekHD audio properites I discovered that the only options for Digital Output(RCA) were all 2-Channel under "Default Format" tab. However my front pannel Audio Output Jack(HD Audio 2nd Output) has an extra third tab labeled "Speaker Configuration" and has options for up to 7.1 surround but these settings do not impact my Digital Output(RCA) channel. Now my reciever does have a multi-channel input that could take advantage of the Analog Outputs in the rear but the distance is to great and multiple wires are expensive.

My question is how can i configure my RealTek Digital Output(RCA) to ouput 7 channel sound?

I have a Pioneer 106s DVD ROM which has a digital 2 pin output.

I just bought a Sony STRDE 675 dolby digital amplifier which has a coaxial digital in input.

My sound card, a soundblaster Live CT 4830 does have a digital out connector on the external part (next to the line in input), but does not have a 2 pin connector on the card itself where the DVD could be connected (there is the place with SPDIF marked but for some reason there is no 2 pins connector)

I do not want to buy a 5.1 soundcard if I can connect my DVD ROM to the amplifier without using the soundcard, Is this possible! Is the DVD rom digital out SPDIF recognised by the amplifier?

Should I create on the soundcard (which does have the digital output on the ecternal panel) an internal connection for the 2 pins? will this work?

Does anyone have a clue? HELP!!
many thanks

I have decided that I'm tired of our video camera/digital camera thing. The thing is so tempermental it's difficult to use, the photo quality sucks, the film quality is excellent (if you are at JUST the right distance since the zoom is stuck), but I'm ready to just find something smaller and just for pictures for the most part. My sister in law has a little HP camera that does a couple of minutes of filming, something like that wouldn't be bad, but I'm more interested in superb picture quality.

Anyone know of anything that works well??

The only restrictions are the camera has to be good, must have a built in screen to review the photos and I would like it to support SD but that is not required (SD will save money since I have a Nintendo Wii). One last thing. It has to be purchased at Best Buy (we're paying in BestBuy gift cards).

I have a Panasonic 6MP camera....takes good pics and although I am only taking JPEGs (not TIFF) pics they are good when viewing on the computer......When I burn them on a CD to view on the TV the resolution drops considerably. even when viewing directly from the camera to the TV it is not all that great???

The TV is a Samsung 67" DLP TV....1080P HD.

Is there anything I can do to get better resolution from these pics to the TV for viewing of everyone?

Also, I have NERO for burning a CD of the pics to the player on the tv for viewing.....should I be using something else OR should I be burning to a DVD for better resolution?

I am thinking that the TV size is perhaps just too big such that the resolution gets pixelated when "blowing up" to a larger size??

any tips?

I've had a lot of problems with my digital cable box. I got it installed on Friday night. It's now Sunday night. It hasn't worked all day today. On Saturday night, the first problems began. The video was starting to skip during an on Demand movie about once every 5 minutes. Then it got worse and worse, until it was unwatchable. This also happened on the regular channels. At this point, I plugged the cable directly into the TV and found that the signal was fine, although I only had the basic channels (about 14 channels, 3 of which are spanish, another 3 shopping, and 2 are religious). :-/

After having comcast send multiple signals, nothing still worked. After several times unplugging/plugging it back in, the set stopped receiving channels at all. Now it just said "0." on the display. Also, by trying to plug this cable into the televison directly, I only received one channel, a public access channel about the police and missing people.

I'm not sure if it was the box or not. Comcast is coming tomorrow with a new box, but now I'm worried that the signal coming in isn't right.

The internet and phone have been working throughout this entire ordeal.

Edit: I also forgot that I went down to the splitter which the comcast guy installed and I switched the cables on the switcher, and I still have the same problem. The internet still works.

Thanks in advance for your help.

It looks like the Digital River iso downloads of Windows 7 are done. A person now has to enter a key on this page to get the iso. I have not confirmed yet if an OEM Windows 7 key will work. Maybe Microsoft will reinstate those links but I doubt it.

A:Microsoft Digital River iso downloads - gone for good?

Looks like they are gone. sari and Toffee informed me about it yesterday, apparently, a lot of people (including MVPs) aren't happy with that decision, but there's nothing that can be done. I have the Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bits .iso on my computer, which is one of the most popular, and I can access all the others be entering the product keys I have and also use my e5.onthehub (DreamSpark) account, but I think that uploading them and distributing them would be illegal. This is kind of stupid too. What if the person needs a recovery DVD to access the Recovery PE, but lost his product key on the sticker. The only way would be to grab it from Windows itself, but it wouldn't be bootable. Hopefully they'll make these .iso available to the public again.

Hey everybody

Currently I have a HP Photosmart M22 camera, that I got for Christmas a couple of years ago. It's a decent camera, that takes some good photos. I don't like that it only has a digital zoom on it (no optical zoom), as well as the slide on the front that turns it on and off.

I wanted to get a small size camera, one that can fit somewhat easily in my pocket, that (I know this sounds crazy) has a button to turn it on and off. The Photosmart I have right now has a slide thing that turns it on and off, and it gets annoying having to worry with that.

I want one that has some good features, but mainly just a solid camera to take some photos with of friends and events. I took a look at the Canon PowerShot SD800 IS, and it looks good. I was wondering if there was a camera similar to this one, that is just a little cheaper. Maybe in the $100 - $200 range in price.

Thanks for any suggestions

Hello Alabama Belle, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Do you have the model number of the camera? You can also check at the manufacturer's website to see if they may have any drivers available to download that may work for you.

In addition, if you have a media card reader installed on your computer, you can take the card out of the camera and plug it into the media card reader instead to upload your pictures.

Hope this helps,

Hello!
I would like to connect my Dell OptiPlex 780 with NVidia Quadro FX 1800 graphic card to a LG smart TV. Firstly I've tried co connect video by dvi to hdmi cable and audio by cinch to RCA cable. According to TV's manual it is possible. However I cannot get video and sound together (just video without sound, or sound without video). According to most advices on the Internet the best solution is to use Display Port to HDMI cable with sound transfer.
My question is:
Is it possible to connect digital audio from motherboard to video card via 2 pin s/pdif cable? I could not find such pins on the OptiPlex780 motherboard.

Thanks for your help.

The 780 does not have SPDIF on the motherboard.  You would need a Creative Labs Sound Blaster PCI SB00460 with Dell front audio cable C6173 Front I/O Panel  connect spdif directly to the sound card.

Hey guys, I'm currently working on a new computer and come tonight I'm buying the motherboard. I've got one picked out but I'm not too sure about its maximum RAM capacity.

Its the BIOSTAR TForce TF570SLI AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard
from newegg.com. Specs on Newegg.com AND compusa.com say its maximum supported memory is 4GB of RAM whereas biostar.com.tw (the company site) says its 8GB of RAM.

I only plan to put in 2GB at first, and I might up it to 3GB, but I prefer to have an 8GB motherboard because I've heard of weird issues with 4GB boards. Plus if I do decide to put in 4GBs, I don't want to be pushing it. A few customer reviews on newegg.com on some 4GB boards have said things like "At first, I had in my 4 x 1024 sticks (4Gigs) and I had hardware problems. But then I took out a stick and it worked fine. Come to find out default voltage was wrong and couldn't support my 4th stick".

Thats not a direct quote from anywhere, but its just a summary of a bunch of reviews I've read on 4GB boards.

I really just want to know wether this board is 4 or 8!

A:BioStar TF570 SLI AM2 ATX Motherboard

I checked the manual for that board and yes it says the max is 4gig total.

I have had good luck with biostar boards and would not hesitate to buy one again.

I have a Biostar G31M+ motherboard []G31M+ :: Motherboard :: BIOSTAR.
And my previous ram got burnt. Now I am forced to buy a new one. So, here is the question.

Which ram should I buy? DDR2-667/PC2-5300 or DDR2-800/PC-6400 ?

What is the difference in performance and will my motherboard support it? These are 2GB modules and so I'm planning to put in total 4GB ram. Will my motherboard work fine with all this?

Also note that, both the above mentioned RAMs cost the same. So, it doesnt matter which one, financially.

A:Which ram for Biostar G31M+ motherboard?

The link you provided says it supports 2 Dimm slots, 4GB max. for the board. The DDR2-800 memory is probably faster although you will probably not notice the difference. This is their QVL list for approved ram for that board. 2GB ram sticks are scarce on that list.

I have a BIOSTAR TForce SLI mobo and it has caused me problems from day one. Well now I think it's finally dead. It takes forever to get past the POST screen and many times just frezes there. If by chance I can get it past that screen it trys to detect a RAID and wont go any further. I dont have a RAID and hav turned the option off in the BIOS. The HDs are set up as IDE so it's not even possible.

I have had to reset the mobo many....many times but switching that jumper out and i dont know if that has been contributing or not.

I did a Window Diagnotic a while ago because I keep getting the blue sceen of death and it said that I have a motherboard porblem...yes...i know that WINDOWS...thank you.

What other info do you guys need?

Thank you for any help!

Specs.

Amd64 3000+
Biostar K8NHA Grand (or something like that, but it is the Grand)
512 Memory
6800 GT OC

Everytime I try and play a game all I get is freeze ups and my computer will shutdown. Its mainly FPS games like DoD:Source and CS:Source. Anytime I attempt too play the game will freeze up literally every few seconds for about 2-3 seconds making it pretty much unplayable. I know its the MOBO cause with my old setup I had no problems and thats the only thing I changed along with the Processor.

Another weird thing too note is that I can only install a 512 stick of memory and only in the far left slot, if I try too install it on the far right it wont boot up, if i try and put another stick of memory in I get a error saying Windows Cant be found. I have 1 stick of 512 and 3 of 256 and ive tried putting them in every way you possibly can and it gives me a different error everyime.

If you can help me figure this out ill send you a white chocolate bar.

A:Serious Problems with Biostar motherboard.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Two things spring to mind.

Either an overheating issue, or possibly a psu issue.

When you put the new cpu in, did you use good quality thermal paste, and is the heatsink properly attached?

What psu do you have?

Is it a good quality psu, or a cheap no name brand?

I`m not sure what the ram problem could be, unless of course the ram you`re trying to use isn`t compatible with the mobo. Check your mobo manual, or the mobo manufacturers website for what ram they recommend.
