I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all.

I'm planning to buy an X1 Carbon, and I'd like a hint to help me to choose between touch and non-touch display; I'm not planning right now to make a major use of the touch panel, but this could change in the future.

Apart from the touch feature, there are other differences between these two options? Image quality? Screen surface, matte or glossy? Thickness? Weight? Battery usage? Other?

Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

Hello, I have a new HP Envy 15T Model 15-as020nr and the monitor has "phantom touches" on the right side of the screen in a vertical line. It will continue for quite some time (minutes) opening programs and anything in it's path. The screen exhibits circle touch indicating a finger touch. I already made sure the screen is clean and updated drivers and bios but it still does it randomly. It often happens after opening the screen after being in sleep mode.  Any suggestions from a tech would be great otherwhise it's getting returned... Thank you for your help!

Hello Community I have a ThinkPad Helix (1st Gen) N3Z6CGES running Windows 10. Bought it back in 2013.Long time i was very happy with the device. Smaller issues, no big deals.Among others: Some static Windows control buttons burnt into the screen. Therefore, in September 2017 I decided to give it to a certified dealer, before my ThinkPlus service runs out. They changed the screen and since the Helix has this new screen, I have the same problem as it is seen in this video:Lenovo Yoga 3 14 freaking around... [YouTube]Exept for my phantom touches only occure in the lower corners of the screen. Which doesn't make it any better, though.Rebooting gives me a break for a few minutes, but then it start again out of nowhere. Sadly, for some time, after the repair i haven't used the notebook at at all, so I didn't realize there is this problem.During this time, of course my ThinkPlus Service and the warranty for the device run out. But then again I needed my notebook very urgently, saw the problem and didn't have the opportunity to give it to repair again.I improvised and turned off the touch screen in the Device Manager. I could only use the digitizer, but at least i was able to work with the Helix. Few days ago there was a Windows update and i noticed that this update resetted my settings in the device manager. I was able to use the touch input completely problem-free again and felt happy like a little child, not knowing how much is missed this comfort! The problem w... Read more

I am getting ghost touches all over my touchscreen, plus the mouse barely works and the keyboard doesn't work at all when the ghost touches are present.  I am running on Windows 10 and have owned this laptop since May of 2014 (purchased new directly from Lenovo.com). This issue is getting worse and worse as time goes on.  Even when I disable the touchscreen capability (via Device Manager/Human Interface Devices) it is  not permanently disabled and it just comes back on randomly, without me enabling it again. If you could tell me a way to permanently disable the touch screen feature, at least that would resolve the main problem for now. Obviously I'd love for my touch screen to work properly though. I've been having this problem for many months now, though in the last month or two it's gotten a lot worse and a lot more frequent (at least once if not multiple times a day).  I am at my wit's end. Thank you.

Hello, I've had my Yoga 900-13ISK2 Signature Edition for a little less than 2 years and up until recently it has been working flawlessly.  After the recent windows 10 1803 update, I started seeing the "phantom touches" or "ghost touches" phenomena on my screen.  It is not very frequent, but it does happen from time to time.  I am not sure if anything triggers the behavior as it normally happens randomly and not related to any particular task.   This is very annoying and disruptive especially because I use this machine for work.  I checked to make sure all my drivers were up-to-date and they all are.  I checked the forum and there were no solutions for my PC there either.  I used the recovery function to do a clean install of windows, thinking that maybe the 1803 patch caused this issue and that seemed to work fine for a while but the phenomena came back.  By the way, the signature edition doesn't come with the factory image partition (major error on Lenovo's part - that should be standard on all devices, no matter what the edition) and now the Novo/Nova (sp?) button doesn't work and the Airplane Mode hot key doesn't work.  For such a premium laptop, it is definitely lacking in areas that are easy to provide to make the customer experience positive. I still have this issue and want to know if anyone else is seeing this problem.  I also tried stopping the HID touchscreen controller and re-starting to see if that h... What I encounter in detail:- "Ghost Touch" Phenomenon  ,Ghost touch What I've tried so far to fix it: Firmware update: Even though my screen is an LG and is clearly affected, the firmware update program told me it is "not at risk" and wouldn't need an update. So this solution: https://support.lenovo.com/de/de/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Yoga-Series/Yoga-3-1470/Solutions/HT1... does not work, at all.Updating drivers: I've updated drivers several times with no lasting positive effect on the issue. Win 10 Updates: Seem to have no effect whatsoever, but I figured are worth trying. Lenovo Updates in Lenovo Companion: No effect. Hardware check in Lenovo Companion: Reports no hardware failures. Calibrating Touch and Stylus: No effect. Once it even got worse, but it certainly didn't fix anything... ISSUEThe 720 touchpad and touchscreen are the worst.  This issue started out of the box before I had even gone on line.  When the touchpad does work, the right click/left click distinction doesn't work and I have to use the screen, when it's working, for the long hold until the right click options appear. When the screen is working, the ability to close a window and touching it just the right way is dubious at best.  I've tried modifying sensitivity, etc, in the control panel, but there is no difference.   When both window and touchpad stop functioning, I plug in an old HP mouse I have, but when I'm mobile, this means running the mouse down my leg if I don't have a surface to place my laptop upon.  And it also means carrying a mouse with me everywhere I go.  My line of work is often standing and walking with clients so  not really possible in my line of work.   RETURN/REPAIR OPTIONS AREN'T OFFERED OR ARE NOT PRACTICALTo back up a bit, I attempted to return this to BestBuy, but was four days beyond the allowable return date.  I contacted Lenovo, but it's all about mailing it in or turning the laptop over and being without anything for a few days.  Hard to find those few days.  I've tried to live it, but it's been an enormous killer of productivity, not to mention incredible frustration and some embarrsassing typos.    PAST YOGA BUILD WAS GREAT - WHAT WENT WRONG WITH THE 720?My last Yoga 710 wa... My Lenovo U410 Touch recently got damaged - the hinge broke causing the touch screen to **bleep**.I was told that a repair was not feasible as none of the repair shops near me were able to source the parts needed.I therefore bought a new laptop. However, there is a lot of data on the old laptop that I want to access, including sorting out the licensing of MS Office (by uninstalling from the old one).I cannot do anything about it as the old machine is completely unusable as due to the touch screen being cracked, it seems to think it is constantly being touched in multiple places on the screen. This means that I cannot access the laptop to copy the data or uninstall Office. Anyone know any way around this that doesn't involve taking it to a repair shop to "recover" my data. Cheers

hi Hersh,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

First do a Power Drain
     (If the battery is removable)
Remove AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec.
Turn the computer back on and see if the Touch capability is now detected under System Properties,
                  If not
I suggest you contact Lenovo Technical Team about the Issue as this may be a device detection issue.

Haven't updated your laptop's trackpad driver lately? Then you may well want to consider doing so, at least if your laptop is equipped with a Synaptics trackpad. As a user on the Hardware Zone forums discovered, the latest Synaptics driver seems to enable multitouch gestures on older laptops that didn't previously support them, including two-finger scrolling, and three-finger click. What's more, while the drivers themselves come from HP, they should work just fine on other laptops with a Synaptics trackpad. Hit up the link below to try it out for yourself.

I've had this machine about about a week, so far I really like it.  Can't say yet that I love it yet, but it does what I need it to and the price is better than a tablet with the same functions and already has a keyboard.  This machine is kept in a padded case when not used in my desk drawer it does not bounce around in my briefcase etc.
This morning the left button on the touch pad does not work.  At first glance it sort of looks like it is caught on something or stuck, the right button works great a broken switch under the button is also possible but this thing doesn't move at all I'd think a switch would still move just not contact properly inside.  I need my machine and I've made a couple of upgrades like a SSD for the stock hard drive and a 8 gig ram chip, I am not thrilled about pulling those components in order to return for warranty replacement etc. as I'm pretty sure you won't be returning the same machine I sent in.  I'm considering pulling it apart to see if it is indeed stuck so it can be pushed back out from the inside but if this is a common issue with this machine I'd like to know that...
Can I be sent a new touch pad component, I believe I saw this is a separate board that attaches to the motherboard with a ribbon cable?  I'm not afraid of this procedure myself as I've been building desktops since the 90's and this is a really simple hardware to work on from the looks o... A:New week old Inspiron 11 3000 3558 (touch) stuck or broken button on touch pad--warranty parts replacement?

This is an fyi about the final resolution of this issue.  After a lot of arguing dell sent me what was supposed to be the touchpad but what I got was only the plastic palmrest no touchpad. Then because it's a "daughter card" I got more argument about the touchpad.  I got hot enough that I opened up the back, lifted out the battery, took out the two funky looking screws and the whole pad just fell right out of the machine.  The buttons seemed fine so I screwed it back down, put the battery back in and closed it up.  It's now great, the button was indeed hung up on the edge of the plastic palmrest.  This is a very well designed inside machine, it all screws down and all connections are with plugs or ribbon cables.  I wrote back to dell and told them they need to fire their tech manual writers because they're idiots, a monkey could have done this.  Apparently it is not easy to find only the mouse pad it's generally sold with the palmrest from what I can tell.  This whole machine is so well designed I scratch my head why the cpu isn't socketed unless they decided there was no room for a socket etc, which I can see that argument.  So if your mouse pad quits try popping it out first it may just be hung up.

The touchscreen stopped working suddenly on my Envy TouchSmart Sleekbook 4-1115dx. At first i though it was like a normal failure and that will get fixed by turning the pc off or restarting so I did not pay attention to it until now that I had restart my pc multiple times. Currently running win10. I started to believe it was because of an update a few days ago since it was when the problem started but all drivers and everything is up to date. I have checked for the HID-compliant Touch Screen driver and had to  show hidden divices in order to find it. I cannot enable it and when i check in the properties the following message displays: "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer." I have no idea on how to connect or how it got disconnected. I come from a similar thread but did not solve my problem. Hello, My Thinkpad Yoga is connected to a large display through ThenkPad docking station.  Its lid is closed.   During my work, from time to time I see random touch clicks on my screen, and random opening of menus.  It is clear that the touch screen is active although the lid is closed.  When I open the lid, and still connected just to the 2nd display (large screen) display the phenomena stops.  Worth noting is that although only the 2nd display shows an image, the laptop touch screen is still sensetive to touch.  This is I guess why the random touches show up on the screen -- it feels the keyboard not fingers. I expect the touch screen to be disabled while the lid is closed or when projecting only to the 2nd screen.  The solution of opening the lid while connected to the docking station is not acceptable.  Lenovo's local support suggestion to disable touch for the Yoga is also not acceptable -- people purchase Yoga to get Touch.   A solution please! Yaron

I have a Lenovo T470s with multi-touch (MODEL: 20HG-S0DT00). The stock screen is only 250 nits. It uses Incell touch, not a separate touch digitizer. I want to replace this with a much brighter screen. I am not finding any compatible FHD touch screens, so I am looking at WQHD options.Initially, I ruled out using the great HDR Dolby Vision 500 nits display from the 2018 X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga because those panels are eDP 4-channel (I believe) and a post on here or thinkpads.com says that the T470 motherboard only supports eDP 2-channel. However, I began to suspect that was incorrect and today I found a post on Reddit confirming that the T470s motherboard supports 4-channel eDP: https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/7uqxlf/just_finished_my_t470s_fhd_qwhd_transformation/dtm...Therefore, I think it may be at least theoretically possible to make this upgrade. Multiple people have already upgraded T460 and T470 ThinkPads to non-touch WQHD panels. However, I do not see posts from anyone who has upgraded from FHD touch to WQHD touch, and that's what I'm trying to do. Any suggestions are appreciated. Hey everybody, I just received my P40 last week as a replacement for another Lenovo device. So far, everything seems to work fine with one exception: When I turn the screen over to the "tablet position", the touch screen and the touch pen show erroneous behaviour.a) As soon as I make the first input with the touch pen, I cannot make any further input with my finger, so the touch input is simply turned off. The Windows setting to ignore touch input when the stylus is used is not active.b) When I try to tap buttons at certain areas of the screen, especially at the upper edge, the cursor of the stylus starts jumping around and shows up at the lower edge of the screen. That means that when I for example tap on the "X" symbol in the upper right corner to close a window, I actually click on some of the symbols in the system tray in the lower right corner. This problem stops occuring as soon as the angle between the two case parts (screen and keyboard) reaches/exceeds approx. 40. It does not matter if Windows is in "Tablet" or "Desktop" Mode. I already tried to manually install another Wacom driver mentioned at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Wacom-Tablet-Service-for-ISD-Driver-Win... and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/P40-Yoga-issues/td-p/3293985. My X220 tablet comes with pen and limited touch support with 2 touch points. I have no issues on windows 7 but on windows 8.1 it has changed to be working with only 1 touch point since some time that I don't remember exactly when. So that I can work with one finger only and 2-finger functions such as pinch to zoom are unavailable. My drivers are all uptodate. I think I should completely uninstall the related driver before reinstalling but don't know how to procede and couldn't find the solution. I tried uninstalling all HIDs through Device manager and one-by-one, specifically wacom device. when I uninstall it, I lose touch option completely. but reinstalling through Device Manager sounds like recovering exactly the previous faulty condition. Maybe there is a conflict with windows 8.1 like Microsoft Input Configuration Device which might be unlikely.  So is there any other way to have full wipe and clean reinstall of those touch screen drivers? I appreciate it if you put links to the drivers for me, if they are not available on Lenovo Support. Tell me if you had the same touch issue in Windows 8.1  and how you solved it. Thanks

The laptop has vertical lines of dead pixels running across the screen and I want to get the LCD replaced. Now the non touch screen model of this laptop has a Full HD variant (1920x1080) as opposed to the standard 1366x768 WXGA HD display while the touch models only come with the WXGA HD LCDs. Can I replace the LCD of my touch screen model with the FHD one? I have been able to detach the digitiser from the LCD itself and have the hinges and screws so I would assume it would be a simple case of changing one LCD with the other. The replacement touch screen models all come with the digitizer and hinges attached which is not something I require so it would be easier (and cheaper!) if I only got the LCD replaced. Lastly, if this is possible, do I need to purchase any additional cables? If so, which one? Thanks in advance.

You're going to need at least the FHD wiring harness:

the screen

and the bezel

You may or may not be able to re-use the back cover/hinge assembly - usually these are different between non-touch and touch versions.

Therefore I plan to buy e7440 touch and if I won't be happy with the glossy screen, I would like to retro-fit a standard non-touch matte screen. Is it possible (screen back lids are the same in case of touch and non-touch models) or are there some physical differences between the screens and carbon/non-carbon lids?

The parts won't interchange between the touch and non-touch screens, no.  They are indeed different.

The trackpad (from how it seems) causes Windows to switch to touch mode on the W541. What triggers touch mode?- Using the trackpad;- Unlocking the laptop. So why care if the W541 does not have any touch capabilities anyway?- Apps switch to touch mode which enlarges elements and makes work inefficient;- Websites switch to touch mode which makes certain web elements unusable;- The notifications button is moved off the screen for a while (see attachment);- The famous touch keyboard button shows up in the taskbar. What we have tried so far:- Updating all drivers provided by Lenovo;- Disabling tablet mode from Settings ? Tablet mode;- Disabling the Synaptics Pointing Device from Device Manager;- Disabling Human Interface Devices (even though nothing with ?touch? is listed here) from Device Manager;- Disabling all trackpad features from Synaptics. The way to work from the W541 is to use a mouse without ever touching the trackpad and to never lock the laptop which is ridiculous. Operating system: Windows 10 Enterprise (issue also confirmed on Windows 8)

Hello, for our company we have multiple versions of the Thinkpad T470.Some are touch, some are non-touch. Now for a repair of a non-touch T470, i want to replace this with a LCD WITH touch.Until now there is no working LCD with touch. On the Part-website of Lenovo i found the following: Non-touch LCD-cable : 00UR481  Touch LCD-cable : 00UR484 The cables look the same...but are they same?is every T470 motherboard capable for Touch LCD ? Or is also another motherboard needed?

Hi there, sorry to be a bother.Like the title says, my touch screen stopped working. I went on to my computer one afternoon and found my mouse stuck in the top left corner, fidgeting. This was what I was expiriencing. (My touch-screen still worked fine at the time, but I still couldn't do anything or control the mouse, but I could tell that it was still working and it still responded.) After a bit of time and a few restarts later, it went back to normal, but my touch-screen then stopped working. I'm used to the touch-screen working incorrectly occasionally, and much like the mouse thing, a restart or two helps. It has now been three days and my touchs-creen still does not work. I've tried many of the solutions found in these forums, but to no avail. I am running Windows 10 and have had this computer for 2+ years.  Thanks.

A:Lenovo S210 Touch broken LCD and Touch screen

Hi Magnutus, welcome to the forums.

Please check if you Lenovo S210 is on warranty under with this tool.
After that you can open a ticket with Lenovo for the screen to be fixed, if it is not under warranty it will have a cost.

If you are the guys that like to fix it yourself (and it is not under warranty) I can recommend you to check the support site for your model, read the Hardware Maintenance Manual (on the documents area) and check how the machine is organized on the inside. On the parts lookup page you can find the parts number so you can find a replacements for the component that is giving you issues.

I hope this links helps you.
Regards

Hello everybody! The Thinkpad X1 Yoga (2nd Gen) laptop is offered with 3 types of displays, as described by Lenovo:- 14" WQHD (2560 x 1440) OLED Touch- 14" WQHD (2560 x 1440) IPS 10-point Multi-Touch- 14" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS 10-point Multi-TouchSince the OLED version is not labelled as "10-point Multi-Touch", does this mean it only support "1-point" touch? (Or any number less than 10).Also, does the OLED display support Stylus pens? Thank you in advance!

Hi, I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon with touch screen laptop. I have already disabled the touch screen driver from Device Manager (Human Interface Devices --> HID-compliant touch screen). But is there any other way to completely disable the touch screen to increase my battery life?

A:X1 Carbon Touch - Disabling Touch Screen

Hi. Did you find a solution to this "problem"? I have a problem that web-browsers recognize my laptop as a "touch device" and this is very annoying - and I have never needed the touch screen functionality on my X1!

Try Package Disabler Pro from the Playstore and you don't need to be rooted for it to work.

Hi, I've recently formatted my Laptop HP Envy m7-n101dx (touch) and installed Win7  Ultimate (64 bit).  I have downloaded all drivers available on HP website and installed on my laptop.  There is only one unknown device left (acpi\msft010), and I'm unable to to find the correct driver.  My problem is I'm unable to use the touch screen of the laptop, I've googling and found that is there must be a problem with with the Human Interface Device, but when I've checked the Device Manager no Human Interface Device is on the list.  Please could anyone help me out.  Thanks in advance

Hello @JeffJadoo, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! The Forums are a great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community! I understand that you are having an issue with the Touch Screen, and wanted to assist you! Did the notebook originally ship with Windows 10?  How did you go about formatting the notebook, and installing Windows 7?  You may be able to use the Recovery Manager to restore the drivers, however, based on how you installed Windows, the Recovery Partition may already be removed.  You can also try reviewing the following document, to see if the information helps: HP Notebook PCs - Touch Screen Issues (Windows 8) Please post back with the results.  It is possible that the Touch Screen may not be supported for Windows 7 on that particular notebook. Please let me know if this information helps you resolve the issue by marking this post as "Accept as Solution", this will help others easily find the information they may be looking for.  Also, clicking the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thanks! Have a great day!

I have a kiosk on which I've just installed 8.1 pro. It has an oem touch screen manufactured by General touch (p/n st6001u). I've installed the driver and it seems to work but Windows still says "no pen or touch available". My customers using the
kiosk will need to type on screen in addition to just clicking. Is there any way to for the OS into touch mode? I believe under 7 there was an option in Windows features but I can't seem to find anything on 8. Google has been no help.
Any ideas?
