all new computer/setup wont work

Q: all new computer/setup wont work

i have just bought a totally new setup today, and ive plugged and mounted everything into the chassi.. but i dont get a video signal from it, when i plug in the screen into the pc it just goes from "check cable connection" to "no video input" and nothing happens.. all the fans from the cpu, chassi and grafic card are running, and all lighs and LED´s are working.. just no picture at all (and therefor not much i can do). ive tried using the sceen with another computer and it works fine.

since its brand new i havent even gotten to install windows on it yet so im 100% sure its something with the hardware/seetup offcourse..

after checking all the power cables i couldnt find anything wrong with what i had done.. so i took the motherboard out of the chassi to be sure it wasnt hitting it in any way.. i also tried with an old Geforce 9600 grafic card from my old pc to see if that would work, but it had the same result.

then i decided to try and set it up so i had minimal things connectet..
so now it have the powersupply plugged in, with power going into the motherboad in 2 places (24pin and 8pin) the cpu is mounted (and plugged into the motherboad in the correct place) the grafic card is set in place in the PCI x16_1 slot and have its two power sources plugged in (8pin and 4pin.. with the 4pin being a special 2 into 1 power plug for ekstra power) and i still get the same result..

i really need help to figuring out this problem please

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:[SOLVED] Windows xp welcome to setup keyboard wont work!! !

Hi david9562 and welcome to TSF !

Switch for a regular PS/2 keyboard for the time of the installation, you'll be able to use your own keyboard once Windows is installed.

Make sure you've backed up all your data on a different physical drive before you go the format/reinstall from scratch way.

To cut a long story short I got it all working and I noticed that my landlady had not been updating her windows upadtes on her pc. I installed windows service pack 2 and i have not been able to connect to the internet since. It says I have an excellent connection to the network but the internet wont work!!!!

I have dictionary called the Unified Medical dictionary English-Arabic

anyway, i have the ISO file
i installed it on Win7 x32 with no problem

but i tried to install it on Winx64 but it says an error like "the setup file is not compatible with Win7 x64"

I tried to search for the x64 version but i had no success, google sometimes becomes lame u know....
I tried to just copy the already installed dictionary folders to Win7x64 but it didnt open cuz it seems that it needs to be installed

So is there any way to like edit that setup.exe file or something to work on x64 version cuz it seems if i can just bypass that step it will work

or like a work around the "copy whole folders" and get it to work
I really need some help with it,
thanks in advance,

A:Is there a work around if Win7 x32 setup file wont work on Win7 x64

sometimes 32 bit applications have 16 bit installer and that won 't work on 64 bit system, but if this is not the case did you try to run installer in compatibility mode? (right click/properties/compatibility). Installer generally does three things: creates program directory, copies some DLL files to system directory and writes some data into registry. You could trace those things in Win32 installation and try manually recreate this on 64bit machine, but who knows if it will work. Also search for portable version, those don't require installation and frankly now a days I don't use anything else but portable applications unless there is no other way.

Okay so I thought I was decent with computers and decided to try to fix my dell laptop myself. Everytime that I turned it on my background came up and this message popped up: "windows cannot find 'C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe' Make sure you typed the name correctly then try again. To search for a file, click the start button then click search" Nothing else would appear-no icons, no mouse that was movable, etc. So, I'd hold down the power button and restart when the window to choose between that and shutting down popped up. Then, the computer seemed to work fine, except being slow and freezing periodically.

I was still worried and when I checked various support sites forums, they all stated that this svchost.exe message was a virus which could cause a hacker to get into your computer and it would display in your taskmanager under processes. I had about 5 or 6 svchosts on the list so I figured this is what happened to me (because I know only one of those is supposed to be there). They all said that using the restore cd to get your computer to original settings was the only way to be sure it was gone. I did that and now chaos has broken out!

1. I can't tell if the virus is truly gone because pretty much all of my old program files were still on C: but not on the program list. Plus the 5 or 6 svchost.exe's are still on my taskmanager! It no longer freezes and goes faster but I still don't wanna risk the virus not being gone.

A:Solved: Help! Tried to fix virus.. did it work? why is computer setup different?

Hi lbsweetz,

Welcome to TSG!

First, svchost.exe usually has multiple copies running at the same time. I run WinXP Pro SP2 and usually have 4 instances of svchost.exe running at any one time. I think I may have counted up to six at one time. So, that is not the issue unless your svchost.exe has been hijacked by malware that is using it to disguise itself.

You can choose to wait for one of the security gurus to analyze your HijackThis log and give you guidance on what to do, and while you are waiting you can try a full PC scan from one of the following websites to clean your machine up:

I can move the mouse around, but it will not show or do nothing, in other words it will not load anything. What can I do??? Please help

A:Computer wont work

Hit CTRL+ALT+DEL to open task manager. Select File then New Task... and enter 'explorer.exe' and hit ENTER. This should launch the start bar. If the start bar stays their contact a moderator and request you thread to be moved to the Malware removal section. If the start bar dissappears instantly you may have to reformat although i'm sure someone else may know a better solution.

Have you tried booting in safe mode?

Hi, I came across this forum via Google and it seemsto be a good idea to ask for help.

Ok here the problem: My computer wont get into the log on screen. It says its going to the log on screen, the screen you see before you actually see the profiles loaded, but it sort of... hangs, I can see the mouse pointer and when i move it its like laggy, stuttering along. I can get into the safe mode and the windows loads up fine. But when I restart it it still does the same thing if i dont put it into safe mode.

Before that, the computer acted wierd. I play a game nameed Airrivals. It played fine for the first few days then it started crashing. The picture would fuzz up, wierd colors would replace normal color and sometimes there were static like effects.

I tried other games like Homeworld 2 and the same thing happened. The picture would go funky and then soon after the computer would freeze. After which I would have to restart. But on occasion I am able to close the game before the computer restarts, and there was a error report, I forgot its exact wording but it was something about the video card or 3D render or something like that.

Anyone know what I have to do? Is it hardware? Like the RAM is failing? Or is it software (malware? Virus?)?

An error I got before the computer went catatonic so to speak was BCCode: 100000ea BCP1: 85BAA5E8 BCP2: 86BD8B10 BCP3: F79C3CbC BCP4: 00000001 Osver: 5_1_2600 SP 2_0 Product: 256_1

Can anybody help me please, I am having massive issues with my computer and I have no idea how to resolve it...

Basically my computer appeared to have been infected with some virus so I decided it would be better to wipe my computer completely, I attempted to do this with a copy of Windows XP Professional, now whilst trying to do this I got to the product key section and the key was not recognised.

Therefore I obtained another version of XP, and tried to do the same and my computer is only detecting that I am trying to download the Professional version as opposed to just the XP version.

Now I am completely clueless as to how to sort this problem out as right now I cannot put any sort of operating system on my comp, due to the product key issue, my friend tells me I need to completely delete all information from my comp and try again, but I am clueless as to how to go about it,PLEASE CAN SOMEBODY HELP!

Thank you so much!

A:My computer just wont work, please help

During the setup process you need to reformat the hard drive prior to installing the OS and while you're at it you might as well delete and re-create the main partition. As far as the CD key goes that will not matter as long as you have a valid one. When you re-format the drive all previous installations of windows will be gone.

hello. i have a windows XP OS and i had used it just this morning (about 11 hours ago)... whenever i turn my computer on, the fanz/ lights/ HD/ DVD drive all seem to start to run, but my screen doesnt react. it just stays in standby mode. my mouse and keyboard dont work either, i get no beep on start up (not shur if there ever was one), and i dont think the HD indicator ever flashes. also the little light on the power button doest turn on now. i have tryed re-setting all the internal components like ram, graffix card, hd's, and DVD drive but to no avail. i have also tested other monitors to no avail. the fans on the heat sink on my graffix card still work so i dont think thats the problem. ive tryed resetting the bios by removing the battery on the motherboard and putting it back in, ive also tryed unplugging the computer then holding the power button down for 1 minuit to see if that would work. ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated! idk how the problem occured other that, i used it in the morning, shut it down correctly, then when i got home it would not work.

I turned it off and put in newer memory and turned it back on and now the monitor wont start and i cant even get my xp disk out there is power to the rom (theres a light on it) but cant do anything !i took out the newer memory and put the old back in but still nothing!the computer is an old p2 266 mhz with only 64 mb of ram now thats why i put in more memory!any ideas anyone?

A:computer wont work!

It is a possibility, that the MotherBoard is too old to support the new RAM.
As far as getting the CD out of the ROM is concerned ... can you power the machine ON, then use a needle or a PIN and insert it in the small hole in the front panel of the ROM, that should get the CD out.

64MB RAM is not sufficient to run XP !

yesterday i was playing some games and suddenly my monitor went to power save mode. I could still hear people talking in the voice chat I was using but they could not hear me. I restarted my computer and everything was working fine (for the exception that my disk usage was 100% for several minutes after restart). I then went to bed later that day and put my computer to sleep as I normally do. This morning, I tried to turn it on but nothing happens. My monitor stays blank but I can see my PSU fan and GPU fan running. However, I noticed the other fans were not running which is unsual to me. I'm not sure of my specs because it has been awhile and I'm not sure how to check other than going into dxdiag, which is currently impossible. Any tips please? I was thinking it was a PSU issue but i'm not fully sure since its such an old computer it could be anything. Thanks

Hey guys new member, first time poster, I usually can figure out my own problems and have never really been stumped but this problem has got me. It's taking a really long time to boot up, regular and safe mode, once it finally does boot, nothing works, i can navigate around some screens such as add remove programs, and some folders, but nothing works when i click on it.

I have booted into safe mode and launched auto repair with no results, I have launched system restore and it says there is no restore points. Windows defender won't activate, Norton security 16 wont launch, i tried booting to last good configuration and that did nothing, i'm literally out of ideas, it's driving me nuts, were coming on day 3 here and i don't know what to do,

Please is there anyone out there that can help, or has heard of anything like this?

ps-sometimes when i'm waiting for the desktop to appear after start up a white box pops up saying "please wait" i have never seen that before.

A:went out, came home computer wont work at all.

When did you last do thorough anti-virus and anti-malware scans?

What have you done to evaluate your hardware---such as hard disk tests, evaluation of component voltages or temperatures, RAM testing, etc?

Are you able to do a clean Windows install if it came to that?

Do you occasionally use System Restore and did you expect to see some restore points?

What, if anything, do you recall about what was going on with your PC in the few hours immediately prior to this problem showing up? Did you install any new software, re-configure anything, install new hardware, give someone else access to your PC, visit any shaky web sites, attempt any unfamiliar tasks, notice any anomalies, etc, etc???

Hi all.
I recently fried my motherboard(long story). I bought the ABIT VT7 to replace it. I installed the RAM, video card, and all that good stuff. I get the beep sound and the computer starts up. I get to the loading screen and after about 2 bars.. it restarts and does teh whole thing over again. I have tried adjusting the bios. I have connected, dis connected and reconnected cords. I just cant find the problem. here are my system specs

ABIT VT7 motherboard
P4 northwood 2.8 ghz processor
2 gigs of wintec DDRSD RAM 400mhz
160 gig MAXTOR SATA drive
ATI RADEON 9600 all in wonder (soon to be RADEON x700 )
400 watt power supply

I believe that it is the system doesnt detect my SATA drive. I tried doing the thing where you boot off the windows disk. put in the SATA driver floppy and chose the right driver (not sure which one is right for me). but i do that and it still doesnt detect the hard drive. Its odd, it detects my drive but it wont boot off of it. also there is no BIOS option to enable a SATA drive. I AM SO CONFUSED!!!!!! Any help would be greatly appriciated.

I just moved into a house (a very old house) and my computer will freeze when trying to boot up windows (at various times during boot up). I have taken it to other places and had it work just fine. One of my room mates runs a similar computer and it runs fine. I have tried plugging in all over the house including where my room mate is plugged in. I can start up my computer in safe mode. This leads me to believe it must be something with the wiring of the house. The electrical in the house does not seam very good (lots of blown breakers) but I still cant figure out why one computer would run while another would not. I might be slow to respond because I don't have a computer!

A:Computer wont work in new house

Its possible, do you know what wattage your power supply is rated at? Your roommates may be a lower end one that consumes less, old outlets can be really bad with providing high wattage devices and computers in particular. I'm leaning this way because you said it works fine in other peoples outlets and that another computer works in the same circuit. You can start in safe mode because it disables the high end hardware (i.e. video card, sound card, etc) and that would technically lower the wattage required to use the machine.

Ok guys, I've put together my first computer. When it starts up the fans go on, the lights on my 2 CD players light up but I have no beeps and get no picture. Here is what I have:

P4 2.4 gHz, 800MHZ system bus, 512K cache
DFI motherboard Ps83-8L
GEForce2 MX 400 AGP 4X/2X
DDR 512 MV PC3200 Simple 184 Pin DIMM

I'm so depressed because I've unhooked and rehooked everything up and still nothing. I'm a wee bit concerned because I originally put the processor in wrong and when absolutely nothing happened. I think reattached the heatsink, fan and processor and now the lights on my CD drives come on but still no video. What must I do?

Hi everyone. I really need help. My computer was running EXTREMELY slow so I googled how to speed it up. It brought up links to remove dll files stating that this would clear it up immediately. I know nothing about computers. I downloaded a free program which allows you to remove the unwanted or unused dll files. I think I got carried away because I pretty much deleted every single dll file - there were over a 1,000.

Now when I turn on my computer, the icons are still on my desktop however I cannot open anything. Nothing on my computer works at all now. I have Telstra Pre Paid Broadband which is on a USB drive. I cannot even connect to the internet as there are no drives.

When I click on an icon on my desktop it wont open and it does not even bring up an error message. All of the icons are now white instead of what they used to be and if I click on the Start menu, all of the icons there are also white.

I tried to do a System Restore to go back to a previous date, however it just says that file is not available would I like to send a shortcut to the desktop.

Okay, I uninstalled hardware and replaced with new hardware (see below for specs) I then plugged the power back in, hit the power button and nothing happened. The MOB internal light was on so it had power but nothing happened.... I called ASUS support. They had me some basic stuff and then gave me a RMA number and said they would look at it. So, I uninstalled everything and put my old stuff back in... pushed power and nothing happened. I have unplugged everything and plugged it back in... over and over again. Could it be the power button on the case that suddenly went bad or something im missing.

The hard drive is connted to a sata cord to motherboard and a power cord
The MOB has two ATX power cords plugged in (24 and 8 pin)
The HD audio cable is plugged into the MOB
The ATX power button (2pin PWRSW), Reset (2pin), Hard disk drive activity (2pin), and PLED+ PLED- are all plugged in
Heat sink + Fan plugged in
Powersupply is plugged in and securly seated on MOB.
RAM is securely seated on MOB
Any ideas?

I have a home network which used to work untill I replaced one computer. I have W98 on both computers.
When I replaced one computer I swapped hard drives around, so had to set up the network again.
Both computers have the same network card. The computer giving me trouble was networked before, so I know it should work. Its a crossover cable network.
The "old"computer installed the network card with correct drivers, and shows in device manager that its "working properly".
Network Neighbourhood shows only the computer you are using.
I have a diagnostics program for the network card and its says "no adapter found". The other (new ) computer shows all the tests ok, loopback etc, so the cabling must be OK.
Ive swapped network cards between computers, nothing changes. In the "old" computer, Ive tried installing the card in all available slots, still no change.
Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling Windows network components, and uninstalling and installing the card, and all protocols, file printer sharing, Ip addresses etc and even gone as far as formatting the boot drive and reinstalling windows. Still no change.
Ive fiddled with the bios as at one stage I reset defaults, again no luck. There wasnt much to fiddle with, but I tried every other setting and combination relating to networking and card slots.

Ive tried every networking troubleshooter and hint I could find on the net, but still the computer wont use the network card even though ... Read more

I'm in Australia and my ISP is Telstra Bigpond. I have a Telstra 2071-A modem and a Blekin N wireless router. I am using the wireless computer atm because the wired computer cannot stay connected to the internet for longer than a couple of minutes if at all. This computer has no issues at all with its connection.
No idea what this could be as I have not done much in the way of networking

A:Internet wont work on wired computer

Does the wireless computer work with a wired connection to the router? I'd like to determine if this is the computer or the router.

I'd also try booting the wired computer in Safe Mode with Networking and see if it disconnects the same way.

I just purchased a new computer, along with a new 320GB hard-drive. I have also put the 80GB hard-drive from my old computer into the new one. I have connected it all correctly, and when I boot the computer, the hard-drives are visible in Device Manager and according to Device Manager, are working correctly. The problem is, The only hard-drive I can see in "My Computer" is the hard-drive with Windows installed on it. If the others ARE actually accessible, I have to idea how I can access them.

Thanks for your time,

A:New computer, hard-drives wont work

Which drive is showing in device manager? ALso double click My Computer and verify both drives are visible. Right click My Computer>Manage>disk management. Verify all drives listed have the "Healthy status".

Hi, I recently did a quick reformat on my girlfriends XP computer because it was running terribly slow, it all went ok but now the internet wont work. She uses a netgear network and uses a wireless router, but whenever we manage to get a connection the internet wont work, a notice just pops up saying "Cannot connect to webpage"
Can anyone help please?

A:Reformatted XP Computer - Internet wont work.

Does it says 'Connected' on the access point you've connected to?

Try going to Start>Run then type 'cmd' without quotes and a command prompt should be open and try to ping google.com there by typing 'ping google.com' without quotes. This checks whether you are really connected to the internet or not.
