I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi!

I have lenovo ideapad g585gc 59-356202 e1-1200, dvdrw, 4gb, 500gb, radeon hd 7310m, 15.6" led, ....
Almost 2 years old.
Yesterday it didn't want to turn on, and then I took out the battery and try without it and then turned on and everything is ok.

So,
1. with battery (with or without ac power) won't turn on
2. without battery (of course, with ac power) turn on

The problem is evidently in the battery. I want to buy a new one, but how can I be sure that the battery is really dead?

A:Lenovo won't turn on with battery, without battery turn on!

There are no good practical ways the average owner can test the battery. You have to go on the evidence.

I own two new Dell Laptops, one a Precision workstation and the other an everyday Latitude, both running Win 7 Pro. Both have new batteries, so that's not an issue. Please do not suggest I check my battery. My system power settings are correct for both AC power and on battery, so that's not a problem either.
I replaced a Dell XP machine and an older Compaq machine running a Win 7 32 bit upgrade from Vista. Both of the older machines, upon reaching the preset low power settings limits, would open a pop up window on my desktop and alert me to either save my work and shut down or plug in the power cord. It would supersede and open on top of any work windows I had open. Both of the two new machines have no such pop open alert window and my computer often hibernates unexpectedly. Not a crisis, but a real pain when in the middle of work. I know that there are taskbar icon notifications and audible alert tones, but neither is useful for me. I must keep my computer muted when working and my taskbar is set to extreme hi-res with small icons, so you can't really notice the taskbar alert when concentrating on your work. Is the desktop pop open alert window gone forever, just turned off somehow, or what? Some one please advise. Thank you.

A:No Desktop Pop Up Alert for Low Battery

PS - I should explain. When I write "concentrating on my work", I mean that I create complex 3D solid models for expensive tooling and manufacturing businesses in a program which often is on top of the taskbar for screen optimization. They require my full attention and, as the result, the taskbar low power notification is pretty much useless for me. The desktop pop up window, which doesn't now open, worked great.

Hi everyone, So, yesterday I started up my computer and the fan was running unusually high and then shut off immediately.  I plugged my charger into my notebook and then started it up only to find the Primary (internal) Battery (601) message popping up.  This laptop is just over a year old so I searched up on HP forums and found the fix where you uninstall the 'ACPI - Compliant Control Method Battery', turn off your laptop, unplug the charger and charge it into a wall outlet, and then starting up your computer.  I repeated that process twice and then my battery worked again.  I ran a diagnostic test and it showed that my battery was still at 90% capacity.  All seemed well so I went to sleep, only to find that the same problem occured when I woke up and tried to turn on my computer - wouldn't start, alert message, uninstalled the driver twice and then it finally worked, and my battery is holding its charge now.   Does anyone have any suggestions or input that might be helpful? Thank you.

Hello. I run Windows Xp service pack 2 currently. I also regularly update and scan my computer with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and SuperAntiSpyware. The only thing that SuperAntiSpyware may find are Adware.Tracking Cookies. Other than that nothing else turns up. Since removing the Vundo, I have not been able to turn on my firewall. Windows Security Alerts tells me at start up that the firewall is turned off. When I go to recommendations and then enable now, Windows says it is unable to turn it on and that I should turn it on from the control panel. When attempting to turn it on from the control panel, it is is unchangeable. An attachment shows how the firewall control panel appears. After clicking out of that alert, Windows Security Alerts then says that Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition is turned off. I check Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition and it appears to be running fine. It may be working since a few times since the Vundo it has caught some incoming threats to the computer. I am wondering what steps I should take to turn on the firewall and how to check if Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition is working okay or not. Thank you.

A:Not able to turn on firewall and Windows Security Alert says SymantecAntivirus is off

Try THIS.

Or, click on Start > Run > services.msc

Scroll down to Windows Firewall and make sure it's Started and Automatic.

Try this fix: Firewall On

Save the reg file to your desktop. Double-click on it to merge it to the registry.

Reboot.

Hi,

First of all: I know that I have been having a problem with my HP Laptop Battery, and with its cooling Fan.
However, I am now wondering what detected this error below as long as it was shown even before the notification saying 'the press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu.' Thus, if the BIOS detected that there was a problem with the HP Battery storage', then this error should have been listed after 'press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu.' was passed.

'HP Battery Alert:
The system has detected the storage capacity of the battery stated below to be very low. For optimal performance, this battery may need to be replaced.'
That alert lasted about 15 seconds, and then the 'press 'press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu.' is shown.

Next: This is error below showed me::
'The system didn't detect that a cooling fan is operating correctly'

I know that BIOS detected that a problem with 'Cooling Fan' since the Alert of error was shown after passing 'press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu.'
Any comments would be highly appreciated

A:'Battery Alert' appears before the 'press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu'

I have no clue what you mean by start up menu. But that message is from the BIOS.

Does the battery charge when the notebook is not turned on?That is the critical bit. If the battery does not have enough charge, it certainly won't be able to supply enough power to boot the notebook.  How long have you had the notebook? If it has been a year or more, the battery might no longer be serviceable.

Hi

I'm hoping someone can find an answer to my vista problems. It's on a Compaq (HP) CQ60 laptop with Home Premium.

1. My low battery alerts don't work properly. I have it set to alert me of low battery at 12% ish and then hibernate at 7%. I have only ever seen the low alert once I think so it just hibernates with no warning. I get the low battery warning triangle on the battery tray icon but no pop ups. Also there is no 'Time Remaining' just a percentage but I think this is a problem that doesn't have a solution.

2. Occasionally my start bar (which I always have set to auto hide) stops hiding. It sits on top of the status bars of my programs and is really annoying. I can't seem to see any pttern to why/when it does it. Sometimes turning off auto hide and then turning it back on will fix it but this doesn't always work.

3. After resuming from sleep MSN/Windows Live won't work. It is still running but it logs me out and won't log back in. It's effectively a dead window that looks like it's running but no buttons work. Only way to get it back is kill it in task manager & restart it.

Hope someone can come up with some ideas?

Thanks a lot

Phil

Hi,

I bought a new battery for my Sony Vaio (VGP-BPL9) about 2 months ago. It worked for a while, but all of a sudden my laptop would not turn on with my battery in there.

The battery is fine, it's new. How can I fix this?

A:Laptop will not turn on with battery

It could be that the Charger can no longer handle chrging the battery and running the laptop at the same time. But how have you confirmed that the battery is good? Just because it is only 2 months old? Or has it been tested in another compatible laptop to confirm this. Also did you buy this battery from Sony or some where else?

I discharged the battery to the end and re-installed it for a fresh charge, but now laptop doesn't turn on when battery is in. Laptop does turn on without the battery in. I unistalled battery drivers and they re-installed automatically when turned on.When I turn on the power switch, light next to the AC plug on laptop blinks 3 times and then goes off and then nothing.I takeout the battery and laptop turns on with the Ac power. Question is why laptop dosn't turn on with the dead battery to start charging or just stay on and how can I check health of the battery without using the laptop. Thanks

Clean install Windows 10, all working except battery shows 99% permanently, whether plugged in or not.  Battery holds enough charge for about 4 hours work, but never know when it will switch itself off!  UEFI diags (latest version) don't have battery checker, but HP online check show it's fine and less than 2 years old. Previously, power options had v useful feature: turn on laptop when lid opened - that no longer available as I guess was feature of "HP Power Manager" software.
