Dell Drivers and Utilities Site

Q: Dell Drivers and Utilities Site

When I went there and put in my service tag, it listed 36 things for me to download. 9 of the 36 were zip files.

I first installed the app files, 1 or 2 of which were useless since they had to do with a 1515 adapter and my system came with 1300, so I'm not sure why this is listed for my specific computer.

Then I went and dealt with the zip files, though it appears all of them are not compatible with my vista 64bit (wtf?) so again I'm not sure why these files are listed for the service tag I put in (I guess each individual or type of operating system has one).

Secondly I wonder what is a "firmware reflash" since it was in one of those zip files and I let it run and do it's thing (this is more important for me at the moment) did a search and didn't find answers.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

If all the devices in that computer are working okay, and if the Device Manager shows there's no problem with any of its devices, there's no compelling need to update the drivers.

Hello!I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 15r Special Edition with Windows 8 as it's default operating system. Since I don't like it that much, I plan to format the hard drive (by going into computer-> Right click on C: -> Format) and then to do a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium on it.After the clean installation procedure, I was wondering if I could simply insert the Dell Drivers and Utilities disc into the optical drive and intall the drivers like I would normally do.Therefore, the real question would be: Will the Windows 8 drivers provided by Dell be compatible with Windows 7?Thank you very much everyone.FatLord

I did find this one "Inspiron 15R SE 7520" If that is your model then the Dell website has Windows 7 64bit drivers and Windows 8 64 bit drivers available for download.

I would use the Windows 7 Drivers for windows 7, Just download them ahead of time and burn them to a CD or store on a flash drive so you will have them handy to use.

I would also have my Antivirus ready to install before I went on the Internet.

3rd point. Windows will prevent you from formatting the drive it is installed on. So you have to do it during the install process.

(Please pardon my redundancy - I have posted this to the Customer Care Board and Client Service forums - just hoping to correct what I hope was an accidental change in support policy.)
This is not a technical comment but it is a comment about Dell's Technology Support. Recently the support site for laptops, and I presume other areas though I have not checked, was revised to change its structure. In the process many items were removed notably having to do with drivers for older systems. Even if a system is past warranty that does not remove the responsibility for Dell to continue to provide the most recent (even if old) drivers especially since the cost of doing so is trivial. This is especially the case when Dell is the only source for specific drivers. A specific example is a Dell Vostro 3700 laptop which uses the embedded GPU in the CPU as well as outboard nVidia GPU; the hybrid video architecture is such that NVidia provides no driver and re-directs users to Dell's site. In the case of this specific model, most of the drivers that were present a month ago are now gone.
Dell laptops have two things going for them - good products at a good price and a great support site. This has prompted me to continue focusing upon Dell - e.g. two new 5759's in 2017, and to recommend Dell to colleagues and friends. I have had recent occasion to review some very old systems on HP's support site - all relevant drivers continue to be available. I strongly recommend that Dell c... Read more

Hi all,

Ive had a problem with windows xp (the blue screen) which meant I have re installed windows on my laptop. I have just gone to try and re install the Drivers and Utilities but when I attempt to do this it tells me that 'Unknown devices detected! Would you install the drivers for?' The the option to select yes or no, I have tried both yes and no and the overall result is that, as I understand i, my network, soundcard etc are not installed.

Could anyone tell me where I go from here please? Im getting pretty desperate as I have work deadlines to meet. I apologise if I have asked a question that another post already contains an answer for, or if I have posted in the wrong place. As you may have gathered from the explanation of my problem, my knowledge of computers is fairly limited.

I would be immensely grateful if someone could help me.

Somehow I'm not able to reset Windows 10. I get the 'Could not find recovery environment' error. I am being told by HP customer care to order a new set of recovery disks but the problem is, I'm in the US right now & my unit was purchased from India. US customer care won't bother to help. And apart from the hassle with getting someone to receive it in India & ship it to me, I'm not really keen on spending money for something which can be done manually. I have done full OS re-installations before. The way I see it, this link https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10startfresh will enable me to reinstall Windows 10 with proper activation. Then I'll install the downloaded drivers from HP's website. I don't mind losing some "paid" apps like CyberLink PowerDVD, Free Wi-Fi etc. I want to know if this process will work properly or not. Is there something I'm missing out?

A:Is it okay to reinstall Windows 10 with drivers/utilities ma...

Not at all. Should work fine. If you can get to the contents of the hard drive somehow all your drivers and original app installers are saved in a C:\swsetup folder that you could use for reinstallation. Booting the system from a Linux Live type thumb drive or DVD would allow you to copy and paste off that folder to a storage folder for reuse.

How can I tell if there are any updates available for the Toshiba drivers and utilities that were supplied with my Satellite Pro M70 (PSM75), Production Date - 27 Jan 2006, and that are in the Toolscd folder (C:\ Toolscd) on my laptop ?

Is there an Update Service that advises you of updates that are available for download ?

I checked the list of downloads available on Download page of the Toshib UK website ( [http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK] ), for the Sat Pro M70 (PSM75), and compared the version numbers of the downloads, versus the version numbers of the same drivers & utilities in the Toolscd folder (C:\ Toolscd) on my laptop (i.e in the TVersion XML files), and they are exactly the same, even for the 16 drivers and utilities with a "Date last modified" of 17 Jan 2006 or newer (with newest - 1 Aug 2008)

The only real update that seems to be offered for download, is the BIOS Update v1.50-WIN ( in BIOS Downloads), with a "Date last modified" of 7 Aug 2007, for which there is no equivalent in the Toolscd folder.

Thank you

A:Updates for Drivers & Utilities for Satellite Pro M70 (PSM75)

You could also check this page for any recent updates, if available:

http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com (Support & Downloads)

I don't think that there is any tool, which keeps telling you that there are new updates available. For Windows it is crystal clear, that you can use the Windows update function. It has some function implemented that the tools can search for hardware drivers too.
But for the rest, just keep on visiting the above mentioned page from time to time.

Anyway, if your machine is running fine, you won't need any update.

Good day,

I reinstalled XP on my Dell Dimension 4600 using the Operating System disk Dell sent me. Now, I'm trying to install the drivers with the Drivers and Utilities disk Dell sent me; however, nothing happens when I load the CD. Other audio CD's load although I don't have sound so I'm unable to play them, but at least they're detected unlike the Drivers and Utilities disk. In Device Manager, Samsung CD-ROM SC-148C is listed. There are no red marks or other warning signs that indicate something could be wrong. The desktop doesn't have Internet yet. I know I can go to the Dell site and download the drivers but I'm unsure which drivers to download as some of the drivers say recommended and others say optional. Also, I need to know the exact order to install the drivers if I choose to go this route; however, I would really like to use the disk since I paid for it, and I'll install the right drivers for sure if I use the disk. Dell support wants to charge $89 to help me since my warranty expired.

Why was I able to install the operating system using a disk and I'm not able to install the drivers and utilities with a disk? What can I do so the CD will install the drivers?

Note: I first installed a new hard drive because I had a virus, then I reinstalled XP.

Thank you in advance for your help.

A:Reinstalled XP, Drivers & Utilities disk won't load

Can you try it in another computer??? I would venture to say you recieved a bum disk and if that is the case they should replace it for free. if you go to the down load section and use your service tag it should bring up the drivers for your system. If there are optional ones ignore them at first. I always install the chipset drivers first and reboot. Then I install the rest of the drivers in one big batch before rebooting. After that don't forget to do your windows updates which will take a while.

Everyone on here seems so knowledgeable and my description of the problem may sound stupid. Some kids were visiting and my origional pc is a 400 XPS.One of the kids had popped an old re-installation cd in and was overwriting. I have installed XP and all the Dell accessories show they are running eventhough I can't access any of them. THere is no longer system restore. check environment, the Mcafee program is gone and can't be re-installed. From Outlook Express I can't go to most sites that have been linked. All the items are on the computer but I can't retrieve them to the proper partition. Dell says I have to have some type of disk which they will mail. On a side note I noticed they doublebilled me and I am in a dispute with them over that I also get a message that says Internall Error 2739 when I try to launch the set-up wizard. I suspect they are saying I have to re-install XPS and start from there. Hope this makes sense to someone. The Dell tech couldn't log in to my pc. He spoke broken English so I really couldn't understand much of what he said.

A:Satellite Pro U500-10N Drivers and Toshiba Utilities on Windows 7

If you want to discuss with support team than you must contact Toshiba hotline and explain the situation.
You are right. Win7 is long time on the market but it doesn?t mean that notebook manufacturers support both versions (32 and 64bit) for all notebook models.
Fact is that older notebook models delivered with Vista are supported for Win7 32bit but all newer notebooks like your U500 are mostly supported for 64bit version only.

Global trends in computing, mobile computing and software development go forward and it is important to have always better and faster systems. It is the reason why all notebook top sellers offer more and more platforms with 64bit OS only.

To be honest I don?t think Toshiba will offer 32bit support for U500.
I have U500-1EX with touch screen and use original OS that I got with.

I just completed a clean WinXP re-install on my Dell Dimension 4700. I need to get on the internet but several devices are marked in yellow in Device Manager. (I am writing this on my phone as it is my only internet)

The Dell site says I must install Utilities & Drivers in a particular order starting with the "Dell Desktop System Software" (DDSS). I've unpacked it from the Dell ResourceCD, saved it to my HD and an IntelliShield process says it was installed.

After a reboot the ResourceCD still indicates the DDSS is still NOT on my machine. According to Dell it has to go on first before the Ethernet driver & others that Device manager marks as missing.

I have no internet and am still at WinXP SP2.

May I please get some help installing the missing drivers from the Dell ResourceCD. Otherwise I cannot update XP & other progs. :-(

I have recently upgraded to windows 10 and everything seems file except one problem I am facing which is the wifi card connectivity issues. My connection to router drops very frequently, curently the generic driver which windows think is appropriate is installed. I wanted to undate that with Dell's driver which I can't find on driver download section. 64 bit WiFi driver is NOT there. 32 Bit driver is but that won't install on my machine.
Can someone from Dell help? either to give me the link for correct driver download or confirm driver is not available in which case I would need to downgrade to windwos 8 as the system is unusable in its current state.

A:Dell Inspiron 15R 7520 SE - Windows 10 64 Bit WiFi Driver not available on Dell Site

On the Drivers & Download pages for the Inspiron 15R 7520 there are only 64-bit options for Windows, whether 8.0,8.1, or 10.   So those drivers are the ones for the 64-bit version of Windows 10, as long as you filter the operating system option to Windows 10 64-bit.
The file name may state "Win32" but if you click on the "View Details" link, and then check "Supported Operating Systems" near the bottom of the page you'll find that the driver supports both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
You don't mention which wireless card you have in that system so I can't link directly to the specific driver.  Which card do you have and what error are you getting when trying to install the drvier?
I would also recommend updating the firmware on your router.  Many routers need an update to be able to handle Windows 10 specific drivers and cards reliably.   What router brand and model are you connecting to?  And do you have problems with all routers or just this one.
Lastly, here is a link to the Dell Networking & Wireless Support Center.  You will find a few support articles in there that may be of help to you.
Let me know which card you have and when the last time you updated your router and, if you can't get the connection to work, I'll see what else I can suggest to help you.

Would any of you please tell me where to find the proper 64-bit drivers to use on a Dell Inspiron 531S?

The official Dell website does not share drivers for that edition of XP. My computer came with Ubuntu pre-installed. Please help me get the right drivers XP Pro (64-bit).

The only reason why I'm searching for 64-bit drivers for XP is because I have no interest in using Windows Vista or any 32-bit operating systems from Microsoft. Like I mentioned before, the Dell website is not offering the proper drivers I need for this computer and the Windows XP (64-bit).

I've read articles about getting 64-bit drivers to work on that computer, but I haven't found any website that offers the same drivers. I'm basically on my own, according to this Dell expert (see below). That person told me about the drivers without sharing 1 single link to download the 64-bit drivers (or chipset) for XP, which he/she mentioned:
Dell does not support 64 bit in that model and the reason there are no drivers. You are basically "on your own" to try and find suitable drivers.

However, if you installed the Chipset drivers, Windows should either install a generic driver or find suitable drivers.

The correct install sequence is (1) Install Windows (2) Install chipset driver (3) Install Device Drivers.

On Intel systems the chipset drivers define what is on or attached to the motherboard. I assume the AMD drivers do the same thing.Click to expand...

A:Dell site won't help me. How do you get XP Pro (64bit) to work on Dell 531S?

Hi there

The very best database for drivers is DriverGuide.com . You need to create a free account to gain access.

What the tech suggested was installing enough drivers to get your networking to work and then letting Windows find all the missing drivers automatically using the now working internet by selecting the option "search for drivers automatically" when installing the devices through the add/remove hardware applet in the Control Panel.

Any thoughts on which is better on keeping Windows XP running smoothly, Tuneup Utilities vs Norton Utilities? Is one better than the other or do both have specific utilities that are superior? Can both be run on the same machine or is that looking for complications? Thanks.

A:Tuneup Utilities vs Norton Utilities

Norton [Symantec] programs have a bad reputation for causing problems. I would go with "TU," of which I have an old version that has worked fine and caused no complications.

Okay, so to begin our story, my b/f gets a new vista machine. Within a week vista is starting up with an "unauthorized change has been made to windows, certain features are no longer available, etc etc" error message. Neither of us can figure out for sure what is causing it. Sometimes its there, sometimes its not, but each time it is there he cant access the desktop. The only thing I can think of is that each time he gets this error, earlier the computer had attempted to download some .NET update. Windows update itself kept freezing as well, as would system restore (sat on 53% done for 2 hours on one attempt).

After much pulling out of hair, I chose to have him do a fresh vista install and just start over, since the comp was only a few days old anyway. Reinstalling vista itself went flawlessly. But now there are no drivers. B/f has a "drivers and utilities" cd but doesnt know how to use it. I am 2000 miles away and have to do all tech support via phone, so I can't play with it to figure it out. I have a vague memory of using the same type of cd on an xp machine and having to manually go through a list and install every driver that had a check mark next to it.

When b/f inserted the cd for the first time, he said it started downloading drivers automatically. Later he said it had not. He then clicked something on the cd (no idea what) that he said was for sure downloading the drivers, but again it did not. I am very confused as to what is going on now an... Read more

My Dell XPS L502x is 14 months old (i7, 8GB, 689GB HDD, HM77, Nvidia 540M GT). I have installed all latest drivers for my laptop from Dell website. But those are still more than 6 months old. When I use Intel Driver update utility, it shows new version of drivers available. Even my nvidia control panel shows new driver available.
Is it Okay to update drivers from intel and nvidia website and replace drivers from Dell. I heard that Dell mods the drivers for thier laptops before supplying to thier users.

A:Should I update my stock Dell Drivers to Intel Drivers.

S"hould you", that is up to you, but the Intel drivers are the best for your computer. If you decide to change your drivers, start with a system restore point.
If you are not having specific problems, you probably will not notice any improvement however.

Somewhere I heard that there is a site that will check your PC for you to see if you have the most recent drivers installed.

Can someone tell me where this site is located?

Thanks in advance

HP has a link for automatically checking your computer and then updating your drivers. It says it should only take two minutes or so. I hve let it run 3 times and cannot get an answer even after 30 minutes.

What can I do?

A:HP Site can't read my drivers

Did you try a different browser? Check the site to see what specific requirements it has in regards to browser, Java, etc... It may require an Active X component which means you need to use only Internet Explorer.

Hi, I'm replacing a motherboard and have been careful to select one that uses what I think will be a compatible chipset to my last one. (nforce / nvidia).

In my obsession to find one with all the compatible chipset, CPU socket, DDR etc I completely forgot about support for my operating system (Windows 7).

I've bought the board on ebay and awaiting it's arrival, but it is second hand with no drivers or set up disc. I would normally be cool with that as I know I can get the drivers on the manufacturers web site, but in this case, it only goes up to VISTA on the site.

What about Win 7 drivers for this motherboard? Will it even work on windows 7?

A:No win 7 drivers for my m/b on the makers web site.

Just for future knowledge only use Asus or Gigabyte motherboards for top quality.

As for the drivers, if ASRock doesn't support it then you won't find them. You may find 3rd party drivers but its very rare.

Microsoft? Windows? 2000 / XP / XP Media Center / XP 64-bit / Vista™ / Vista™ 64-bit compliant

You can see if the eBay seller will take a refund. Some eBay sellers will.

I could really use some help. My father recently bought himself a new laptop which came standard with Windows 8, which he absolutely HATED. So we purchased Windows 7 and installed it. Unfortunately, 2 of his USB ports, his HDMI port, and his (unused) LAN port aren;t working, and in the Device Manager, I'm getting a yellow exclamation point next to 4 items under Other Devices.
Here are the device properties. It is a HP Pavilion g7 2235dx downgraded to Windows 7.

A:HELP! Downgraded to Win 7, no drivers on HP's site!

Your machine isn't designed for Win 7...
There is a response on this forum where a HP expert gives advice on ways you could make it work. I suggest you read all of the articles.
I've seen great deals for HP machines that are Win 8 only recently, they are getting washed up like unwanted driftwood all over the marketplace.

I upgraded this little netbook to WIN 10 and it ran really poorly.  Finally gave up and went back to WIN 7. Apparently I need to update the drivers to get my wireless connection to be seen.  HP site only said No drivers available for this PC. HELP!! I don't know what to do or how to get my machine to work the way it used to!

A:311 Mini PC drivers not available on HP site

Hi: I think you should be able to use the W7 drivers and software from the 311-1100 series notebooks on yours. Looks like the 1100's have the same hardware as the 1000's. Do not use any of the BIOS or firmware files though. http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Mini-311-1100-PC-series/4074229
