MS Office communicator 2007 r2 - issues with incoming video calls

Q: MS Office communicator 2007 r2 - issues with incoming video calls

We all use  MS Office communicator 2007 r2 on our small network (approx 30 users). I have no problem at all with outgoing video calls (I video call anyone on that same local network and everything works fast). But when the other users of that same network do video call me, I just see the sign of an up arrow that keeps moving (the usual sign that there is an upcoming call), but the video call window of the incoming call never displays. Eventually, the incoming call is dropped because I can't pick it up. Thanks for your help

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey guys,

I'm working for a company which is using Office Communicator 2007 R2 as their instant messaging application, and we're experiencing issues with audio.

The problem is that during testing of a video call, for e.g. Jack, can see/hear David without any issues, but David can barely hear Jack, as if he is standing at the corner of the room talking. Very little audio, and there's alot of static.

So far I have tried the following:

1. Going into Tools -> Audio and Video setup. Here I ensured that both computers have their microphone levels set to maximum, and their sound levels to maximum. No difference.

2. I have plugged in earphones, used the internal speakers on the laptop, used external monitors (which have microphone/webcam capability), and speakers on a desk. No difference.

3. Tested this on an office floor where the computers are less than 10 metres apart, and between office sites. No difference.

4. Opened Control Panel -> Sounds. Checked that both the audio and microhpone levels are set to maximum, and working okay. No difference.

5. Tested video calling on wireless, and connected with a LAN cable.

None of the above have made my job any easier in identifying the root cause of this issue. The strange thing is, video calls work fine between some computers on site, and from different offices, and quite often it doesnt for others. So distance between computers doesn't appear to be the source of the issue.

A:office communicator 2007 R2 issue

There will be issues working between OC 2007 and Outlook 2013 to begin with -- the two programs are far enough apart in version numbers that issues will arise. If you are using the 64-bit version of Outlook, there is apparently no known fix for this issue. That said, you might try the registry fix suggested here: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/e1e3fdd5-d17d-4473-b51a-60b9c4947101/communicator-2007-r2-does-not-save-chat-history-in-outlook-2013?forum=officeitpro

I recently moved from Verizon wireless to Comcast for my internet service and everything works great except one thing. While with Verizon, I was able to log on and use Communicator with no problems. But with Comcast, I cannot and have tried to bypass my router and go straight to the cable modem with no luck. I get an error that the server is unavailable. When I switch to an open internet connection, I am able to connect just fine, so I've narrowed it down to a Comcast issue. While trying to explain this to Comcast, they told me to go to Microsoft which is what I expected but I don't think Microsoft is the issue given the troubleshooting that I've done. Has anyone else had this problem at all? I will have to drop Comcast if I can't get this fixed as it is a necessity for work.

The only reason to use the Win 2000 offering is that my other software, CA Bitware, and Symantec TalkWorks dont seem to be compatible with my HP 1444C scanner - or at least they don't appear in the scanners "send to" choices. Help appreciated.

First let me say I am in awe of all of you guys! I am glad there are no stupid questions because believe me I will have a lot of those to pose to all. I am a 50+ grandma just learning about this computer age we are living in. Now for my first question: I need to know a way to not miss incoming phone calls.I thought if I had call waiting and someone tried to call me if would knock me off the net and the phone would ring so I could take the call. ( I volunteer at a shelter this is what happens when a call comes in there and I am online) I know you all will think I am nuts but this is what I want to happen! I don't mind getting knocked offline when someone is trying to call me. I would rather not have to pay extra for an internet answering service. I went in to my configuration setting for my dial up service to manage locations then to properties the disable call waiting is not checked but it still does not knock me offline when a call is made to our home. I have to do something to allow the calls to come in my hubby is Director of Property Operations for a large casino and he is having fits about missing calls. Anyone calling before got a busy signal since I had call waiting added all they hear is ringing but it does not knock me offline . Anyone have suggestion

I'm using an Asuscom 128K ISDN adapter on a win2k pro system. I would like to exploit the dynamic feature of the connection, which allows a choice of 64 and 128 k connection, meaning BOD.
When I configured the adapter for a BOD option, my internet connection, meaning the digital connection acted as wished. However, my analog phone has been downed whenever a 128 k was established. I wrote to Asus support and the answer I got was that "The BOD function only for those incoming or outgoing by the internal ISDN adapter."
Can anything be done about this limitation? Is the a way to instruct the adapter to release a line whenever a request for such line is initiated through the analog line?

You must have a v.92 compliant modem and then caller ID and Call Waiting......and, the most important, you must ask your phone company to enable (is a free service if you have ID and Waiting) Call Waiting Caller ID which is different than the first ones I mentioned. Then, it should work if you have the latest drivers.

Communicator is a great communication tool that is very popular in my company.  There is also a good feature where Communicator will automatically start after power-up or wake-up of your computer.  This feature works well if you are connected to
the corporate network.  However, if you are off site Communicator will stop trying to auto-login before you can establish VPN connection to the corporate network.  Is it possible to give consideration to VPN users with this feature and extend the
auto-login period to accommodate the time it takes to establish VPN connection to the corporate network?  This is typically five to ten minutes.

Today, I logged in, and my Office Communicator 2005 program is nowhere to be found. I have the program installed, but when I try to run it communicator.exe runs for a second in task manager, then disappears. I tried an uninstall/reinstall, nothing. I used a program to completely uninstall every instance of Communicator only, tried to reinstall again, same result.

So now I'm stuck. I have the program installed, but can't run it. I select to run it, it shows up in task manager then quits, and nothing runs...

Hi guys. I had a quick look at some of the other topics here already but none seemed to really fit my situation so I thought I'd post a new topic. At home I've got 2 identical PCs running Windows 7 64-Bit. Both have had Microsoft Office 2007 installed for about 6 months now but now one of them has been having issues with Office. It started about a month ago, when some Windows Updates were installed. This caused Outlook to start crashing and act weird, and Excel and Word started to freeze as well. The next day, there were some more Windows Updates that were "to address these issues". The problems in Word and Excel were resolved, but Outlook stayed the same. Over the last two weeks there have been numerous Windows Updates for these issues in Outlook but none of them have been successful. In fact, Outlook has gotten worse. A summary of the current issues (to name a few):Freezes randomly.Doesn't close when it is quit and usually opens more windows.Causes Windows Explorer to open a multitude of windows.Hangs on the last message it tries to receive.Quits the send window at random intervals. If you try to use Outlook to send an image from outside the program the computer starts to freeze.Oddly enough, not happening on the other PC...Anyway, I decided to uninstall and reinstall Office. I did that last night but the problems are back. I'm not sure how widespread this issue is but hopefully someone here might have some ideas or any clues as to what I should try ... Read more

I need help with Live Meeting, trying to set up my dial-in conferencing settings. Here's what's happened so far:

*I installed the add-in, because I had no idea if I had it or not. How would I know this? How would I know what it's called?
*Conferencing, User Accounts, under Office Communications Server I entered email address, clicked Advanced, entered domain/username and PW (that I log into the network with)
*Conferencing, User Accounts, under Live Meeting Service, I entered domain/username and PW (same as one above)
*Both returned with "Your Live Meeting Login Information Successfully Verified"
*Click on Conferencing, Dial-In Conferencing Settings, and receive and error - "Dial-In Conferencing Settings Web Page Not Available" (and I did this step before, in between, after - you name it, I tried it!)

This has been going on for weeks. I tried to fix it a few weeks back, but got frustrated and gave up - and actually refused to try until today! My frustration has returned....I can't figure out what's wrong.

I am not a computer guru - not even close! - so please be gentle in your reply! A fix will be GREATLY appreciated! I need to start using the program as it was intended :-)

Hi All, I just discovered this forum while trying to find info on a footnote problem I have.
In previous incarnations of word I have been able to change the view of my essays to get two separate screnes one above the other, one containing the text and one containing the footnotes, this meant that I could easily edit my often 30 odd pages of footnoes and not have to shuffle constantly between pages.
I can't work out how to do it in 2007, it used to be under VIEW then I would change the view from print, or one of the others into this format.

Well in my other thread I had problems getting office 2007 to run on my account, giving me this error.

Well I finally got it to work on my account after going into the admin account, going into the security for each Office app and allowing full control for my account and all users.

So now they work, sort of. However every tiem I launch any of teh office programs, i get the office installer popping up and saying "Please wait while Windows configures Office 2007 Enterprise" Then the UAC will pop up asking if I want to allow the program to make changes to my computer.

It will finally load, but its annoying and doesn't happen on the admin account. I don't know if it has anything to do with uninstalling and reinstalling a few times. I did try running the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility...no change.

The other issue is that I can't open a word file without Word being up first. If I try to open the file before Word is launched I get the following error:

"There was a problem sending the command to the program."

I've tried following the instructions on this page:

This is a long one, so I'll post my question up front. When I try to activate Office 2007 and select the Phone option, the window closes. Any ideas?

Some background:

Let me start by explaining my setup... I have an Intel iMac that has Boot Camp installed. I also have VMWare Fusion set up to use the Boot Camp partition. I own a perfectly legit copy of Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007, complete with holographic DVD and certificate of authenticity.

I bought this copy of Office for my Wife's Dell. We recently got my new Mac, so I gave my old Mac to her and sold her Dell. I formatted her machine, and did not reinstall Microsoft Office.

I purchased and installed Windows XP on my Mac using Boot Camp. From within OS X (using VMWare Fusion), I installed and successfully activated Office 2007.

When I rebooted directly to the same partition (which loads Windows as a real machine vs. a virtual one), it wants me to reactivate Windows XP and Office 2007.

I was able to reactivate XP using the phone option. When I select the phone option in Office 2007, the Activation window goes away and I have no way to activate.

Hello there.
I recently bought Microsoft Office 2007 on eBay. It came in the mail today. When I put the disc into my computer, nothing happens. I cannot hear the disc running. Nothing is prompted on the screen and when I look in "my computer" it does not show anything other than what's normally there. I guess I am asking for help trying to figure out how to download this program onto my computer as I just started college classes and already have assignments due and cannot complete them without it.
Please be gently, as I know to some this may seem basic. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

A:Microsoft Office Professional 2007 download issues.

First of all - welcome to BC !
There are two possibilities here. The first, and less worrying, is your optical drive may have died and gone to a better place. Can you read any other software disc or play a movie DVD ? If you can, your drive is working. If you can't, then it is almost certainly your drive.
The Office disc may be faulty or fake. Try it in a different computer to see if it can be read or offers to install itself. If it can neither be read nor offers to install on a different computer then your only hope of redress is to take it up with first the supplier and then the eBay complaints procedure.
Sorry I can't be more optimistic on your first visit to BC.

I then uninstalled Office 2003, uninstalled the Office 2007 compatibility pack and then I ran CCleaner to clean up the registry. I updated my OS (currently has Windows XP SP3) with all updates, reinstalled Office 2003, installed Office 2003 SP 3 and then reinstalled the Office 2007 compatibility pack.

I still get the same message when I try to open an Office 2007 attachment in Outlook 2003.

OS is Windows XP SP3 fully updated
Office 2003 SP 3 fully updated

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any hel on this issue.

I am now getting an "install" request for my office 2003 teacher/student edition after uninstalling the trial 2007 that came with my new VISTA laptop. I saw a previous post that indicated it could be a virus (asking for sku111 file). I tried to access the Panda and Trendmicro free scans , but they seem to be as unhappy with VISTA as I. Thank you in advance for the help. Here is my HJT log:

A:Solved: uninstalled office 2007 trial and now have 2003 issues

While I cannot guarantee that there isn't malware listed above, the problem of Office installation requests is due to the uninstall process for Office 2007. From personal experience I can tell you that the uninstallation of programs (quite frequently when manufactured by MS) causes a number of problems for prior versions. For me, the resolution was to uninstall all Office products and reinstall Office 2003.

The annoying install requests can be cancelled and the application of choice will continue opening until you uninstall and reinstall. You shouldnt lose anything since the office installations don't really affect "My Documents" or other data folders.
