Lenovo Y50-70 | Switch to integrated GPU

Q: Lenovo Y50-70 | Switch to integrated GPU

Hello guys. I own a Lenovo Y50-70 laptop and I recently installed a Hackintosh (macOS on a non-Mac device). It turns out that my GeForce GTX 860M built in the laptop isn't compatible, and I don't even need it because I stopped gaming. How can I switch to my integrated Intel graphics card so that some of my apps won't be unusable?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

have a hd5770 graphics card and cant seem to get it installed on a fresh windows 7 ultimste 64 install, constantly come up with integrated graphics, have tried an nvidia gt240 in to see if that would work but no luck, any ideas on how to help?

A:cant switch from integrated graphics

You need to disable the on-board graphics in BIOS.

However, according to this;

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131656

your board does not have any onboard graphics.

The situation is I'm trying to play Fallout 3, but it keeps creating random visual glitches, like purple checkerboards and grey light tunnels around the characters' faces. I assume this is because It refuses to switch from the integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics to my AMD Radeon HD 7730M. I only really want to get rid of the purple checkerboards.

(refer to image)
The drop down menu for the graphics adapter only has the Intel HD.

A:How do I switch from integrated graphics?

Likely a BIOS setting. Fill in your hardware (motherboard manufacturer and model).

Like the title. I lost my integrated video, and I can't see anything to switch to another card I plugged in. For a couple of weeks I had been sporadically getting a BSOD that I sort of diagnosed was related to the video card, and I figured I would just buff it up and reinsert it. I didn't know it was integrated. OK I'm a dummy.

I know the monitor is OK because I got it to display output from a laptop. I also tried a different monitor for the same tests.

So, Catch 22!
1) I need to see the screen, to play around and get the computer to switch cards,
2) but I can't see anything, even the BIOS start-up stuff.
3) So I really need to switch etc.

I know the computer is booting, and I can blindly tab over and shut it down.

Any ideas? Can I switch to blind people's mode or something, not that I really know how to use that either?

Hi. I'm really frustrated at this and feel I've tried everything. I've been searching all over the internet for help but to no avail - nobody seems to have this specific problem.

I have just bought a new Sony Vaio VGN-NR11Z/S (2 GHz Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo T2750; 2 GB RAM; Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit Version). It has an integrated wireless switch on it and is running windows Vista. These two things don't seem to agree with each other.

I boot up the laptop and the wireless connection works fine, I connect to the internet straight away. I then put it to sleep in the way I used to using standby on XP (closing the lid basically). When Vista comes out of sleep mode I find that I can't connect to the internet, and the little light on the wireles switch is off.

I diagnose the problem and it tells me to turn on my wireless switch, which is odd as it is already on. The only way to get the internet working again is to restart the computer. "ipconfig/renew" in command prompt says the media is disconnected. Device manager says the device is working properly and disabling then enabling it doesn't help. I've just installed the latest driver (11.5.0.32) and that hasn't helped either. Changing power settings to maximum performance does nothing as well, neither does turning the switch off then back on again.

My wireless device is "Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection". It's basically when I come out of... Read more

Hi guys, I asking for my friend.. He installed PES (pro evolution soccer) in his com and it prompt him that his graphic card did not meet the requirement. He have at nvidia 525m GPU with 2gb vram it is impossible his laptop doesnt meet the requirement. So i guess is the sandybridge integrated graphic that is causing this. Any idea how to change to GPU? Note: His graphic card comes with optimus technology.

A:How to switch from integrated graphic to GPU on sandybridge laptops?

A graphics card's capabilities for game playing cannot be judged just by how much memory it has. There are many other factors & features it must have too. The graphics chip on your friend's laptop does not have all of the features that are required. You can't change the integrated graphics chip on a laptop & you can't fit a different one to use instead of the integrated one.

Hello, I have a new T530 with Windows 8 OS. I am having trouble using the integrated camera. It functions neither in the Windows camera app nor in Skype. In both cases I get a picture with a gray background and a camera with a line through it. In Device manager, the camera does appear, is enabled, and the drivers are up to date. After looking through other threads, I tried checking whether the camera was plugged in and indeed it was. When using Skype and I set the camera to on (Skype did detect the camera), I still got the gray no camera image, but the green light on the camera itself turned on.I also tried using Fn+F6 to check settings. Lenovo settings opens, but the when I click the camera settings Icon, the screen loads a blank page that says "Camera" in the top right and has a back button (left pointing arrow) in the top left hand corner. The back button does not seem to work and I must change the window to something else in order to exit/close settings.I tried manually installing both camera drivers and "power management" ("energy management"?) drivers. Neither of this solved either of these issues. Please help me to resolve this problem. Thank you.

Hi, euterpenc

I would make sure that the BIOS is up to date in the system. The current BIOS for your system is 2.07 and can be found here. Also, I would ensure that the chipset drivers are up to date, and those can be found here.

Hope it helps, and let me know how it goes

I read other posts and none specifically addressed this for the 920 and the use of what is actually a good Lenovo config tool seems to be poorly documented.   I would think it would be the same for any Yoga model with Windows 10 and Lenovo Vantage installed.   I can't seem to find a version for Vantage, so hopefully this works on all versions.    1) Find and open Lenovo Vantage on your machine (use Cortana if needed).   This is the Responsive view and yours may look different...don't worry, options are the same.  Click on Hardware settings  2)  Click on Input (again, responsive view...whatever view you have should have this button labeled the same)  3)  This will open the Hardware Setting - Input UI.   Under 'Function Keys' click on the one that is labeled 'F1-F12' (should look like below, highlighted in blue) to make that the the Function the default setting for those keys...to further clarify: it will now be a Function Key (F1-F12) by default.    With this change, you will press the FN+ one of the function key for the Hot Key option (e.g. FN+F1=mute/unmute, FN+F2=volume down, etc.)     4)  Your change is already saved, so you can now X-out (click X in the upper right) of the pop-up windows created by that were created

I recently bought a Lenovo Ideapad S300 running Windows 8 and initially had difficulty in getting it to update but, with help from several websites, managed to resolve this problem. However, I never managed to get the integrated webcam to work. The application would launch but the camera screen is blank. Device Manager advises that the device is working properly and the drivers are up-to-date. Incidently, this particular notebook does not have the hotkey (F9) to switch the integrated camera on/off but, I understand, on later versions Fn+Esc is supposed to perform the same function; it does not. The system has two associated programs, Lenovo EasyCamera and Lenovo YouCam.

More recently I have updated to Windows 8.1 but the integrated webcam still does not work. Can anyone please advise what I might be doing wrong or what I could do to get the webcam to work. I'm a bit of a newbie, particularly as far as Windows 8 is concerned. Regards.

A:Integrated Webcam on Lenovo Ideapad S300 not working.

Have you tried re-installing the webcam driver? I have a Lenovo at home and mine was ok when I upgraded, but I removed all the Lenovo drivers for the webcam. (As I hate all the rubbish companies put onto new equipment)

Also when you run the camera app does it detect a camera? Usually Windows 8 will ask for a camera to be plugged in. If it shows a blank image does the white light next to the lens turn on?

Hi! My mother bought this laptop a couple of years ago, and after a year and a half or so it started having problems with some software (you know how mothers are!), so she gave it to a neighbour of hers so that he would format it and reinstall Windows. Originally, the laptop came with Windows 8, and for reasons I don't know, this neighbor deleted all the HDD partitions and install Windows 7 instead; that means you have no way of performing a factory reset. From that moment on, the camera stopped working; it doesn't even appear in the device manager. All other features - audio, video, WiFi, etc. - work properly; it's just the camera which has the problem. So my mother talked to me about this, and I've been trying to solve this issue without success. I tried installing Windows 10; nothing. I tried installing Windows 8.1; nothing. I tried installing the camera drivers, but it says there's nothing to install the driver to. I've read that some people recommend an activation of the camera via BIOS, but I'm unable to find such an option in the BIOS of this computer. Others recommend a Fn + Esc sequence that, to be honest, doesn't even do anything. The thing is that I'm getting crazy with this stuff, and that's why I'm asking you people whether you can help me with this. I'll appreciate any comments regarding this. Thank you in advance!!

Unfortunately it is not possible to select which GPU you are using, it is a built in enegry saving feature that will only select the Dedicated card when required.

According to the default factory hardware setting, the graphics setting should automatically switch to the external GPU(AMD R9 M375) while the laptop has been plugged in. This, however, isn't happening anymore. The graphics setting stays at the in-built Intel graphics. The only way to play games at the AMD card is to manually choose "High Perfomance" against the switchable graphics application settings from the AMD control center. Previously, I didn't have to go through all this hassle as the graphics used to switch to AMD automatically while charging. I'm experiencing a few more graphic related issues because of this. I explained this issue at the service center, but found no luck. I guess they were way too qualified to understand this issue. I've already tried resetting my laptop. Any ideas ?

The Lenovo G400 has dual graphics Intel HD and AMD Radeon HD 8570. In Windows 7 it used to have menu for AMD management at right click on the Desktop. Hello everybody.!I would appreciate any help.Started getting BSOD(Attempted_Switch_From_DPC) almost every other day and I've paid attention that this usually happens when laptop is idle.My laptop is a month and a half old and it shipped with 8GB DDR4 ram soldered in MB(  base ram speed is 2666mhz but the real working speed that shown in Task Manager is 2400 because of CPU).So I decided put extra RAM and it turned out that my laptop supports up 48GB RAM so I bought 32GB DDR4 2666 module from Samsung and got 40GB in total. I'm not sure maybe it's coincidence but I started getting these BSODs after these things: installing RAM, updating BIOS, updating Windows system (Cumulative update), using USB type-C adapter with 3-USB and 1-LAN output.  I don't know who the culprit is.Here is the link to the DUMP file, data from Msinfo and Speccy -  https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjF0Y2tXlq21hAVSSnCL8_95zho4?e=rt8xuIMy laptop is Lenovo ThinkPad T590Records from Event Viewer:Log Name:      SystemSource:        Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-PowerDate:          11-Sep-19 11:43:42Event ID:      41Task Category: (63)Level:         CriticalKeywords:      (70368744177664),(2)User:          SYSTEMComputer:      LAPTOP-1NK0CFUHDescription:Th...
