Q: About 1/2 of all web pages dont load or load as just text.

Hello. I have been having a problem with web pages not loading for just loading as text for about 5 days. I have run every spywere removal and anti vires program i can think of. But nothing seems to find anything or fix anything. i have made a hijackthis log file but i don't have a clue what i am looking at. I have started my PC in safe mode but i still get the same problem. Any help would be fantastic as i am all out of ideas.

Preferred Solution: About 1/2 of all web pages dont load or load as just text.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

When I'm surfing from site to site, my ie6 pages don't always load the way they should. I'm using Windows XP home. Some of them have the red x in the white box. If it's something I want to click on (not an ad) I have to refresh the page. This has been happening the last few days. I have default settings in Tool>Internet Options>Advanced. I also went to start>run and then typed sfc /scannow. I do regular computer maintenance, scan for adware, keep everything updated as completely as I can. What can I do? Thanks

Hi, I have been away for a while and my flatmates used my computer. Needless to say, now i'm back and well, my first problem is when web pages load they dont fully load. All the script seems to be there and images but there is no colour in the boxes where links are or there are borders missing and a lot of the banners have no colour in them, they are just white.
I have done a full sweep with AVG, Spybot . One thing they did do was uninstall ZoneAlarm Security Suite and install AVG as they had some issue with internet access to my Yahoo. I have just reinstalled ZA but nothing has changed.
This happens on both IE 7 and Firefox 2.00.3. I have XP with SP2

I get the old "web page cannot be displayed" screen). However if i refresh a couple of times, the content eventually loads... .Is there anything i can do? Its highly annoying!

hello. I have been having problems with my internet ever since I switched to time Warner cable 8 months ago. when I am surfing the web, sites often take forever to load and often don't at all and I have to refresh them sometimes as much as 3 times for them to load. this happens about 33% of the time I click on a link or type in a url, etc.

A few months back I finally called TW and they had me disconnect my router and only go trough the tw modem, this worked fine, therefore it is my router. I have used the router for like 6 years with 2 other ISPs (including a cable one) with no problem. Does anyone know what my problem is or where I should start looking to fix this?

i have a vista computer
a netgear WGR614v5 router
and a Motorola SURFBoard 5B5120 modem

thanks for any help or direction you can offer

I run windows vista 32 bit
I am using firefox obviously, and I noticed some problems recently that I can't really account for. I am not a computer expert but I do use deductive reasoning to solve problems so I figured I'd go where the knowledge is.
I did a hijackthis report so you guys can see what I'm running
Basically, certain pages have images that appear as broken but when I right click them and choose to view them they appear.
When I click next on some pages the page just goes blank but then other times it works.
I reinstalled flash, java, firefox, and a bunch of other programs. I've run spybot and registry cleaners, and I even decided to do a microsoft update and update my drivers. I uninstalled my antivirus i was using and the problem still persists. All firewalls and security that I can see are turned to settings that should not cause these problems. Also, on pages like myspace, sending messages sometimes sends a blank message to someone but if I send it on IE it isnt blank.
I think theres something wrong with firefox and either the flash or java or vista or all three.
I dont think its spyware or a virus.
I think theres a compatability issue somewhere.
I noticed my firefox profile didnt download images when i saved them, so i deleted the file for that and now it works. I havent deleted my entire profile for firefox, if i could just fix it that would probably be easier.

A:Problems with flash or javascript and random images and pages dont load

Hey, the flash/javascript problem is probably to do with some form of javascript blocker, (note Java is not Javascript, so updating Java wouldnt have helped your problem)...

Things to check:
- Go to Tools->Options->Content Tab and ensure "Enable Javascript" is checked
- Check your add-ons for anything that disables javascript ("Noscript" etc.)
- Check to see if you have the web-developer add-on, if you do then go to Tools->Web Developer->Disable->Disable Javascript and ensure none of the options are checked.

If all these are in order then i'm unsure of the problem.

Cheers,
Jamey

Hello there everybody.

Today happened something very strange and annoying in my PC.

I turned on my PC and started using Facebook normally, it was a bit slower than usual and then suddenly, it didn't load anymore. I tried more than once, but then it started loading only text on the left side of the page and I couldn't use it practically. This happened also with Yahoo, but I didn't see it happening with some other websites, they work totally normally.

I stress I have tried clearing the whole cache and history of Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, system restore, check of sfc.exe, creation of new user account, running of an Ubuntu LIVE CD, uninstallation of all browsers and installation of the latest versions once again, changing of the MTU to 1500, turning off my router and antenna but unfortunately nothing has worked till now.

What wonders me is that Facebook works normally on my laptop which uses wireless connection provided by the same router and antenna.

It is really annoying me and it would be very nice if someone could suggest me something else from the things I mentioned before :(

Our users have IE 7 and 8. We keep them locked into place by pointing IE to our firewall product (tools > internet options > connections > lan settings), so that only approved sites are the ones that our people can access. In the last few days, several of them report issues with specific websites loading very slowly - load times of over an hour just to get the log-in screen to appear.Troubleshooting Steps:1.) Unchecked the "use proxy server for your LAN" under the IE menus---> Site resolves instantly, as it should---> This pointed me to the direction that perhaps the site wasn't configured for our firewall2.) Re-checked the "use proxy server" box, and specifically configured the site in our firewall---> Site continues to resolve slowly, with the same load times as before performing step 1That would normally indicate that the problem is on the vendor's end. Something may be wrong with their site. And that's the line of thought I was pursuing until I was reported back to that the users are having the same problem on other websites. These new websites they're having problems with are, and have been for a long time, configured properly in the firewall.I'm not sure what my next step is to pursue. What am I looking for now? I don't know enough about networking to figure out where to track next.

I've just started having this problem and its killing me.

I have 2 computers. My server is running windows 2000 server, and the secondary computer is running xp Pro.

The internet was working fine on my secondary computer, and then one day, it just started becoming slow, and it would not load pages (images wouldn't fully load, some pages wouldn't load at all). If i type in a url in the address bar for IE it would load the page quickly (probably from cache), but then proceeding to click links would cause "Page not found" or "timed out" errors.

I know that i can reach these sites, i ping them and get normal responses. It seems that IE is just not displaying them properly or something. The internet on my server computer works perfectly fine.

I have 2 nic cards in the server computer, 1 recieving the cable modem, and one receiving a LAN cable from my Hub.

Anybody have any ideas? Like i said, it worked on my secondary cmputer before. Also, i hooked up another computer to my hub and the internet was working fine, and then i installed Service Pack 3 and it started crapping out like mentioned above.

This is driving me NUTS!! ahhh. please help.

Thanks

Just started two-days-ago. Mozilla 1.5.0.7 and IE 6.0.2900. I did a system restore back for two weeks to no avail as "nothing changed."

Mozilla and IE, through Mozilla, either takes long to load or no load. If it does load does so without .gifs or some links. Some links are broken. Some will load the login page fine then freeze on the next page.

The perplexing part is that it affects only a few pages but not the whole site: my hompage, Nasdaq.com; ebay.com (after the login page), espn.com takes a while, 240 sec, to load then only partially load.

Network fine, signal strength fine, I've killed Symantec, no difference. Switched to Windows firewall, no difference. Killed Adblock, no diff. Ran Spyware Doc, nothing; NAV scan, nothing.

I'm lost. Anyone have an idea?

Thanks in advance.

Ive been having the same problem. Im with Virgin and they were useless with the advice they gave. Try reinstalling your modem. My line has recently been upgraded to 8.1meg from 2.2 and i think the modem hasnt quite got the hang of it being this quick yet. It seems to work for a while but my line keeps changing. At first it ran at 7.6 and the problems with pages started so i reinstalled the drivers from the disk and it shot straight upto 8.1. Its been a pain for the past few days with some sits(even my homepage of Virgin) so i reinstalled it again and all the pages now come up.

Do you have more then 1 computer connected to your modem/router? If so, does this happen on them? If not, can you connect a separate one (ex: friend's laptop) to test?

Normally when you get errors like this it's best to rule out a problem at the modem/router and provider before going crazy over trying to fix a problem (that may not exist) on your PC(s).

Also just a couple of other questions:

Who is your internet provider (ISP)?
What connection type do they use (Cable/DSL/Fiber/Fixed Wireless/Mobile Wireless)?
What is the make and model of your router and modem?

A:Doesn't Always Connect And Pages Don't Always Load Or Load Right

Hello,

Sorry for the delay, this forum is very busy right now.

There is a program from a company called SearchHelp, Inc. on this computer. Sentry at Home or Sentry Remote. From the information I can gather on the Internet, this is a legitimate application aimed at allowing parents control over their children's web surfing habits. Judging by some of the lines in this log it uses a proxy server and several other techniques to filter internet content. This might explain why you have trouble connecting to some web sites.

If you are the owner of this computer and installed this program, I would suggest disabling it temporarily to see whether your problems persist.

Whether they do or not, post a fresh HijackThis log along with the results of this test.

Hey Guys!

So, I've run into a bit of a problem. For the past couple of days my Internet Connection seems to be acting strange.
Sometimes i can load pages almost instantly, for example google or wikipedia, and a minute later i have a loading time of above 30 seconds for the same page.
On the other Hand, when I start a large Download and it has to run for an hour or more, it wont abort, even when I can't connect to other Websites in the meantime.

The weird thing is that this happens on every Device in my Network. I've done a ping test in this little "downtime" and half the packages timed out.
Wireshark shows that somehow I keep sending out packages but for like 15 - 20 seconds I get no response at all.

I really don't know what to make of this and would appreciate some help^^
Thanks in Advance!

Hi everyone. I've got a very strange problem that just began happening out of no where. When browsing the net I can no longer go to websites such as www.zone.com, I can only check my e-mail when I'm lucky and the website decides to load without displaying "the page cannot be displayed" error message. More than half of the images on everyone webpage display as not loadable little X marks, even on this website. When attempting to open random websites after searching on google for example, more than 3/4 of the web pages I click on give me the "page cannot be displayed" msg instantly without even trying to load. This problem just began recently out of no where. Windows firewall has always been off and never had problems untill now. I run Aluria Security Center and have never had problems. I also have tried adding these sites to my trusted list and it does absolutely nothing. Hope you guys can give me a solution. Thanks ahead of time.

A few days ago I noticed that some of webpages weren't loading correctly. It was shortly after updating Java. Web pages that I visited like Yahoo, Adobe, and Facebook started to load plain text (no graphics of any sort). The Microsoft site wouldn't load at all until I read instructions somewhere on this forum about enabling secure sites. Most other sites loaded perfectly so I figured it had to be some sort of malware that was blocking me from certain sites. I ran a lot of scans using several anti-malware and anti-virus programs. I ended up finding about 3 trojans that were removed. That didn't solved my problem though. I got fed up and decided to reformat my computer hoping that whatever was wrong with it would get fixed, it didn't. Since I formatted my computer I tried updating Windows but I kept getting an error: "WindowsUpdate_8024402C". Wouldn't work in Normal mode even after I followed the instructions given to solve the error. Figured I'd give it a shot in Safe Mode with Networking, but it still doesn't work. Now I can't access the Microsoft website again. *sigh* I've tried pinging it but my requests keep getting timed out.

After reformatting I uninstalled all the bloatware, and reinstalled updated versions of Java, Adobe Flash Player, and Shockwave (thru majorgeeks as I couldn't download them directly from their sites). I've ran more scans but nothing comes up. I'm thinking maybe there's something wrong with my winsock2 but I'm not touching it O_o. I forgo... Read more

ok this is gonna be a bit long but i want the details there. the issue pc is my old pc. it has windows 7 its an asus msn-la motherboard i cloned this drive and used it in my new pc. after a few months my new pc's drive died and i took the old drive from the issue pc(witch was not giving issues at this time) and stuck it into my new pc until my replacement drive came. when i got the replacement drive i cloned the drive again onto the replacement drive and then put the new drive in the new pc had no issues there. put the old drive back into the issue pc (this is when issues started) the pc booted up to the windows desktop loading screen fast but once it got there it sat there for like 5 min before loading into windows. once it loaded into windows it was un usable for around 10 min while it loaded background stuff. once it finally loads into windows if i try to open anything its still responding extremely slow. is there anything i could do to fix this or is this going to me a re install only situation? i did try to use a windows 7 disk to do a startup repair but it claimed i couldn't do it because i dident install from that disk.

I suppose the title says it all, my computer has some sort of infection where every search in google in both firefox and internet explorer redirect the searches to random pages. Additionally, typing in certain addresses simply won't load where I know the page should work, such as certain links on microsoft.com. Furthermore, I have enabled Automatic Updates and it tells me that it is not enabled even though it clearly is in the settings and going to the update page through internet explorer simply does not work. I have read through various other forums here at bleepingcomputer.com and followed their instructions but nothing has fixed the problem so I figured I'd post as well and start fresh. A huge thanks in advance to whomever is able to help me out. So, where do I begin?

hello all

i have started noticing "hijacked pages,"

and that (so far, only when using "chrome," which is outdated - NOT by choice but because i am stuck with windows vista and GOOGLE will not longer support it...),

sometimes chrome will "hang" when attempting to perform operations such as "clear browsing data,

and then if i attempt to close chrome, it will make it so that system processes(?) such as my toolbar, ctrl+alt+del/task mgr, and restart will not work, forcing me to need to manually power off my computer,

and now as of today, most pages are not loading ("err_connection_failed" in chrome, but ALSO IN FIREFOX a lot of pictures in pages are not loading),

so i fear i have malware...

okay, here is the sysinfo readout:

Hi newbie here so go easy on me

My mum has a realtively newly built PC (about 2 weeks old), and has XP Professional installed along with Norton Antivirus 2003.

She is using dial-up internet with an external modem, and although her default homepage (bbc) loads straight away after that browsing becomes progressively slower and slower. Some pages do not load up at all after a while and she is forced to turn off her connection and try again. She cannot access any secure sites at all (for her internet banking and buying things). She has cleared her cache to no avail.

I have been told to see if a firewall is blocking secure ports 443, 84 and/or 8443. I'm not sure how to check that? I'm not even sure she has a firewall installed at all?

Should she try Mozilla Firefox? Should I install Norton?

I've checked her dialup internet provided (lineone/tiscali) and there appears to be no problems?

Help :grinthumb

I'm using IE6 and I added on the service pack 1 after I got this problem. I'll click a link that should open in a new window, the window will open up, but it won't load. This started happening yesterday, I uninstalled all the programs I put on yesterday (mostly add-ons for AIM), but the problem persists. I tried the repair IE option but that didn't work either.

Server not found.

Firefox can't find the server at mail.google.com.

* Check the address for typing errors such as
ww.example.com instead of
www.example.com

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I have been struggling for a while with this. It takes me about 6-10 refreshes to get to a website. I have just done a speedtest thingy and got:

Speed Test Results
Downstream 753.3 Kbps ( = 0.7 Mbps )
Upstream 236.9 Kbps ( = 0.2 Mbps )

Are there anymore tests I can do to see whats doing this?

Thanks.

A:Websites...Dont Load...Much.

Try this:
Start> Run> type: cmd then hit OK.
At the command prompt, type: ipconfig /flushdns and hit Enter.
Then try loading the site again. You might also try this:
Type about:config in the address bar of Firefox and hit Go.
Find network.dns.disableIPv6 in the list and double click the line to toggle
from false to true. Close Firefox and restart and see if site will open.
In Firefox: Tools> Options> Privacy> Cache> Clear Cache Now. You might also try running Firefox in safe mode.
Start> Mozilla Firefox> Mozilla Firefox(Safe Mode). This will run
Firefox without any extensions and the default theme. If the site loads, then it is an
extension or theme that is effecting Firefox.

When these sites get stuck at loading the bar at the bottum of the screen remains at the beginning. I use Internet Explorer and firefox, and the problem exists in both. Any sites I try to access, IE7 says that the webpage cannot be displayed. However, msn messenger logs in and I am also able to update nod32, adaware, spybot etc.

I am running WinXP SP3 and I have run adaware and spybot and neither pick up any malware. I also did a virus scan and no virus' are detected.

It was working perfect yesterday. The PC which is having the internet problems is connected directly to the router and this PC I am using now is connected wirelessly, so there is nothing wrong with my router. I have tried to 'repair' the local area network but it still doesnt work. I ran IE without addons but sites still dont load. I also went to Internet Options -> Advanced and reset and restored advanced settings but it still doesnt work.

Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

I recently had a number of virses on my computer which seemed to not let me get onto some web sites (Itunes, E-Bay and my e-mail) and took it to Best buy to have it fixed. They removed the virses and was able to hook up to any web site I wanted. I brought the computer home and it was the same as before. I then went back and was told to remove my router and get a new modem. I did that with no changes. I then had my internet provider send someone out to verify that everything was working, we found it worked fine. I then hooked my daughters laptop to my modem and it worked flawlessly. I then took my computer back to a different Best Buy and they hooked it up and it worked perfectly. I brought it back and it still works the same. If it can't be my modem (my daughters works fine) and my computer works in 2 other different locations what can I do to fix the problem?

I am having an issue where some of the programs I run dont fully initialize on Windows 7 64-Bit. Right now there are only 2 doing it and both are 32-bit, but I don't have very many programs installed so I can't say for absolute certainty that it is only 32-bit programs that are doing this but I am pretty sure it is. I have attached pictures of what happens for both programs:

http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/8964/captureii.png

and with WinAmp:

http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/6656/capture2au.png

With WinAmp it isnt a big deal because when I switch tabs on the top (the ones that say Media, Video, Browser, and Visualization) and then back again the mouse cursor changes to the one with the arrow and blue circle and then finishes loading the rest of WinAmp. I am using the 64-bit version of Win7, just recently upgraded from 32-bit XP and never had this problem on XP. I have no idea what is causing this and haven't heard of it ever so I'm totally stumped. Any help/advice or even just info about what is going on would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

EDIT: If this is the wrong forum to be posting this in, sorry, it was the most appropriate one I could find.

I would check the hard drive with a manufacturer's diagnostic.

I guess that I don't understand removing the AV program, especially since malware is likely to be a contributor to your situation (IMO).

This problem started 2 days ago.. so I thought it was my OS problem and reinstalled windows but the problem keeps coming back!
I feel like the Windows update restarts are causing it or something!
