Suggested mail clients

Q: Suggested mail clients

I am looking for an emial client that will allow for multiple users on the same email client with some sort of switching option that would allow for seperate mailboxes. Using profiles in Outlook 200 is a joke because you need to be logged on to Win98 for the profiles to work at all. I have tried a free web mail client, but the peson I am woking with is way too set in his ways and for some reason thinks that AOL is easier than this service. Any suggestions??

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I don't know if you can or not but have you tried mailwasher?

I think you can use it but not sure. Anyhow it will stop the spam and then once you got it set up just try adding the other acconts.
Plus it will do hotmail but you don't want that.

It has always been my belief that those who use Windows Mail or Windows Live mail and have it set to show the preview pane, will allow a potential virus to spread .Once you download and have it in the preview pane, it is the same as opening the email. Until I find out that this is not true, I have eliminated the preview pane, which can be done from the View Tab.

I have done the same thing in Windows Live Mail, although mainly just because I find it annoying. If I need to read the email, I'll open it, I don't need it on display while I'm sorting old messages.

I'm pretty sure that you're right about viruses being able to spread through the preview pane. But doesn't Outlook also have this "feature"?

I know how to change my default e-mail in IE 6, so that when I click on a mail link, it opens up a program such as Outlook or Outlook Express.

However, I wasn't sure about this: is there any way to configure IE 6 so that mailto: links open up a web-based mail client, like Yahoo or Hotmail? I always suspected not, but had one person who swore she had it working with Yahoo.

Thanks!

Steve

A:Default e-mail in IE 6 and web-based mail clients

I've seen it do that before. If you go to Tools/Internet Options/Programs inside IE, then check the E-Mail box, and whatever is listed in the dropdown is what you can make the default email program.

To get Yahoo in there, you may need to download and install the Yahoo Toolbar.

Hello all
I have a question regarding AVG anti virus.
Is it possible to configure it to check for viruses with an e-mail client other than Outlook Express.
I have 2 e-mail clients OE and Pegasus, and I can't seem to configure it to check the Pegasus.
Any feedback is appreciated.

The AVG E-mail scanner does not support every E-mail client. Supported clients are MS Exchange, MS Outlook and Qualcomm Eudora which use the MAPI protocol. If you are using a different client be assured that you are fully protected by the AVG resident shield.

Outlook in AVG terms includes Outlook Express

Hi everybody :

I need some advice for changing my e-mail client. Currently, I'm using Windows Live 2012 (Windows 7 Pro 32-bit OS). Seems like Windows Live is starting to screw up a little. I've been doing some research about different e-mail programs. I'm thinking about switching to GMail. I've been reviewing the features of it. It seems okay. I just want to be totally sure before I "jump in". (Like wading into a deep lake vs just jumping in and "go for it") One of the features mentions being able to pick up my POP3 mail from Windows Live. There must be something that I don't know......yet. Advice ?

I currently have my own domain name so my email addr. is [email protected]. I use GMAIL as my server and I use outlook as a mail client on my home/office PC running XP-PRO.

I have now bought a laptop running WIN 7 and don't know whether I should install outlook on it for when I am away or just use GMAIL via a browser whilst away. If I do this will I get two months of already read mail when I return rny to my home PC.

Does any one have any idea of what is the best approach.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, the one with which you will be most comfortable.

If you want to use an email client but do not wish to buy another copy of Office or Outlook consider a free one, such as Thunderbird or Windows Live Mail.

Hi, I manage an IT department for a Fulfillment company. Iíve recently been asked to come up with a solution for sending e-mail to our clients, customers. Right now the computer operators use Excel and Word to do our daily custom letter printing. Our client wants to send e-mail using basically the same letters. So using word's merge to e-mail feature works perfectly!... However, the problem comes with the exchange server and outlook. I need to make these e-mails appear that they are coming from our client and not our employees. Iíve been poking around for a while and cant really come up with a solution other then having the client setup an account for us just to send the e-mails through their server. I know there are ways "Spammers" do this sort of thing but these e-mails are not spam the recipients expect them (They contain order confirmation information etc..) so I am wondering if anyone knows how I can accomplish this the "right" way, without doing anything "spammer" would.
Thanks in advance.

Okay I'm having a problem with a couple programs (Mozilla Thunderbird and Trillian) where after I've exited them, they still show up in the task manager under processes. When I try to end the process nothing happens. I try to open trillian and it doesn't work, also I can't connect in thunderbird to get my email. Trillian is running 3 times under the process tab in task manager and in each instance it's taking up at least 8,000k of memory.
Outlook Express does the same thing. And when I try to reboot it stays stuck because those processes will not end and I have to hold the power button to make it turn off. I can't recieve my e-mail.

I remember before it stopped working that there was an Automatic Windows Update called Distribution software 2.0. I tried to system restore to the point where it was not installed but it fails. So I went into Add/Remove Programs and uninstalled the latest update (it didn't say it's name, just Windows Hotfix). The processes still will not end. Here are my specs:

I've got winXP and use outlook express. Last night I launched OE and my inbox appeared to be empty. At first I thought the messages somehow got deleted. But some of my inbox folders also appeared to be empty, while others still had emails.

I downloaded more emails from my isp, and then they disappeared too after closing oe and relaunching it.

On a hunch, I looked at my OE storage folder (which I have in My Documents instead of the default location), and the files looked normal, including Inbox.dbx I checked the properties of the inbox and it shows 13MB so I know the mails are there.

Since I thought OE was broken, I downloaded and installed Thunderbird, imported the OE settings, accounts, and mail boxes, and thunderbird has exactly the same problem. It doesn't display the emails from the inbox nor the same folders that OE doesn't display.

So it must not be a mail client problem. What could it be? How do I read my emails? I have emails in the inbox that need to be replied to.

Working for an internet provider, I have come across a few E-Mail Error Codes that I would like to share. I will also update this if there are any new ones that may be specific to a client. Please note: These are strictly for E-Mail clients like Outlook, Windows Live Mail, etc. Any webmail-based email issues should be directed to the respective provider.

0x800ccc18 - Login Fail (SPA)
The client is trying to use Secure Password Authentication and it is not enabled on the server. You will need to deselect Log on using Secure Password Authentication in your settings. (usually with the server settings) (most common ISPs does not use this)

0x800ccc0d - Cannot Find Host
The server name is incorrect or DNS entry is incorrect. Generally the server name is incorrect. If it is spelled correctly, make sure there are no spaces before or after the server name.

0x8ccc003- unknown error
This one is generally for Windows Live Mail users trying to send photos. Microsoft set up WML to use their SkyDrive system to send photos. If you try to send a photo by right clicking on the image and do a Send To > E-Mail Receipent, WML will put it into a Photo Album. If you do not have a SkyDrive account (which I think it's the same as a MSN type account) then it will fail and sit in the outbox. To send the photo, create an e-mail and use the attach function.

more to follow... ran out of time

A:E-Mail Error Codes (Clients)

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection - 0x800CCC0F
Generally either the port number or the security (SSL/TLS) is incorrectly set.

Server Error: 0x800CCC90 -- Server Response: -ERR
There are a few reasons, the most recent find is that SSL (like 0x800CCC0F) was not set correctly.

Dear all,

I have been using web based emails (yahoo, hotmail and gmail) since many years on web itself. I believe most of the people like to configure web based emails into clients like outlook, thunderbird, etc.

Clients are more comfortable, but I guess it also brings mess like maintaining mails, occupying space on your disk, downloading them all again if your system crashes, etc.

Wanted to have views of others on this ...

A:Accessing mails through e-mail clients Vs. web based.

I prefer to use AOL for emails. If I wasn't using AOL, I would just use the email addresses I have through my Comcast account and would not bother with anything like Outlook. I do not even want Outlook on my system.

My AOL emails get backed up on my hard drive on a frequent basis and I backup that up onto extermal drives every now and again.

Hi,

I use IMAP for my mail accounts to have on all my machines the same mails.
But the disturbing problem with this is that it seems that each mail client uses different folder names fo the same function ...

So I use the webmailer (to see all),
MS Outlook (German),
Thunderbird (English)
Sent mails: sent, Gesendete Nachrichten
Junk mails: Junk, Junk-E-Mails
Deleted mails trash, Gel?schte Nachrichten

Is there a way to tell them to use the same folders?

Also I?m wondering is it not possible in IMAP to have a folder hold mails and subfolders?

A:Multiple mail clients creating different IMAP folders

Hi guys I found a way to sign:
1) the "Outlook 'Sent Mails'" folder --to--> the 'Sent' folder of the Server
2) the "Outlook 'Deleted Mails'" folder --to--> the 'Trash' folder of the Server

But still missing this feature for:
Junk Mail and the Draft/Templates folder, is there a Way?

Another problem is that I connect TLS to my mail servers.
Outlook is always (at start up and when I try to send a mail at first time in a session) asking if I trust the Certificate. I do so, and tried to install the certificate but it seems not working ?
Is there a trick or a special folder I have to install the cert to?

The client contact email is from another email address ([email protected]) that can be pop and smtp access, but it is so large, I will not download all emails from that email address, cause me 1.5 G space

I have a gmail email address, I want to forward this client email to my gmail email account.

Gmail (POP3): pop.gmail.com; (SMTP):smtp.gmail.com

So, [email protected] I click the email in [email protected] then forward to [email protected]

If I have a new client email, I should see all emails from and to this client, how to create a "search folder" to search email that apply for this client in Outlook folder?

Outlook provide a library with 13 "search folders"
I can "create user define search folder"

Outlook File/New/search folder
In "search folder", roll down to "user define", click "create user define search file folder"
Input name of the "search folder", because the position title is "Client 1234", so input "Client 1234" in this textbox.

Click "conditions"

In "search folder", click "mail" option, input "Client Mail.56" in "search text" textbox.

So, I ask the Client to send all his email to [email protected]

A:How Can I Use Ms Outlook Contacts Track Clients Emails And Clients Information?

So, I ask the Client to send all his email to [email protected]
So, I also can forward (but waste time) all this client's email to [email protected] and
input Client Mail.56 in any emails about this position.

I will create a folder in Outlook email, business and personal
Then seperate the emails to these 2 email folders.
Then I add each contact to Outlook, group them to same company first, then make folders, business and personal contact folders.

For each client activity, use Project Software to manage the activity.
I also can create links in Outlook, link emails, appointments, tasks, documents and others to Contact.
So I must Forward email to Gmail address or other Pop email address, then use Pop to download to Outlook, but when I open the email, I can not find "Action/Link" button in the "Action" Tab, I need to save this email to a folder, and from Contact Tab, link this file?
In Contact Tab, every documents can link to Contact, click "Action/Link", choose file.
But I need to better organize my documents, I search Google Directory, directory.google.com for the file content, use google directory as my file directory, save them in the correct folder.
Then link to Outlook Contact, then in Contact Tab/Activities/, there have a field title (folder name), folder location: diary

If I group many messges in folders, 100 clients have 100 folders, too confuse!

Is this right?

I must use project to manage all activities about the client?

I noticed that my firewall settings were set to OPEN/ALWAYS/EVERYONE (essentially).  I thought, "That can't be right...that's not safe at all",
So I disabled/blocked about half of my incoming rules.   Which was immediately changed back by an unscheduled update less than an hour later.
I made screen shots of my firewall settings.  *Windows Remote Management is set to YES  PUBLIC ALLOW  SYSTEM  ANY TCP and ANY /ANY /ANY.
Peer to peer collaboration has the same settings, specifying %System...% as the part of my PC that is open to the public.  (And yes, I'm sure these are the default settings, I wiped and reinstalled offline. If you close or block your ports, they will

Fragmentation isn't really a malware issue. It is just a natural occurance that happens over time. XP has a built-in defragmenter and there are many 3rd party disk-defragmenters. It is good to defragment a drive occasionally but unless the disk is heavily fragmented and the free disk space is less than about 10% of the drive there will probably not be a noticible performance improvement. The 2 files that will have the biggest impact from fragmentation are the swap file and the Master File Table which can only be defragmented with 3rd party defragers. NTFS file systems handle file fragmentation better than the old FAT system found on older operating systems like Win98 so an acasional defrag with the built-in XP utility should be Ok.

Cheers.

Hi friends,
I am an exclusive FF user (except for MS sites ).
I found a very good extension for FF which I would like to share with you. Its called Flashblock 1.5.1. Go to Mozilla homepage>extensions and search with above name. You will find it.
It stops all the flash materials on an webpage and gives you an option to allow it to play it or not. As most of the flash materials are AD so it also increases your security.
My yahoo pages are loading lightning fast now. Try it & LoL.

A:Suggested Extention for FF

Thanks src. Another one you might want to install for extra security is NoScript which blocks all javascript, and has an option to block flash as well. It puts an icon in the status bar which you can click to allow java/flash for a particular site if required.

hello!

I am looking for an MOV converter that will convert MOV files to something that windows movie maker can read. (I am also looking for a better video editor but that's not too relevant right now.) I downloaded one MOV converter and since it only allowed me the trial version I could only convert stuff to audio, not what I'm looking for. Anyone have any suggestions?

I guess the IE is messed up resulting this behaviour. The best thing to do would be to reset IE to default settings then try to turn off suggested sites might fix it.

Not sure if I have put this in the right place but here goes
1. Browser Choice. In Europe we get this option. But when it is taken (I stayed with IE10) the Browser Choice App remains and I cant get rid of it. There seems to be no means to uninstall it. Tried various sites on the web nothing works.
2. In the useful tutorial on backup using W7 recovery in Control Panel there is an option to backup system image to an external drive. I have one @1Tb but it starts then says cant proceed drive full - when it clearly is not. Any ideas? Is it not possible to backup the system image to SkyDrive ?
3. I do not use the Start Screen (Metro) as such but do put into it useful stuff that I need at odd times eg Administrative Tools. There seems to be no way to resize or recolour the tiles apart from "large" or "small". This is a nuisance as it gets too big to fit the screen. I found a site on the web that says it does this but my Rapport tells me it is unsafe so I have not tried it.
4. Is there a way to sort a block on the start screen(Metro) alphabetically without dragging tiles around one at a time.
5. A tutorial on each of these would be grand. I have found tutorials truly useful generally.
Thanks

Hello, I've been lurking on these forums for a while, and decided to finally register and add a few of my thoughts on software here. There are some excellent threads on good software around this part of the forum, but as always I have some favorites of my own.

Here's my list of useful (free) things; It's not a COMPLETE list, see the stickies for that.. Some of the things I'll list here are alternatives to suggested software in other threads, I'll try to give a brief comment on why I prefer one over another.

NKProds nCleaner - While ccleaner does a good job, it has messed things up for me a number of times. nCleaner hasn't caused any problems at all for me (yet). It does a wonderful job of cleaning up (both disk and registry), and also includes some basic tweaking. The UI is a huge improvement over the really unintuitive ccleaner, and is definetely a better choice for inexperienced users (I recommend it for everyone though, regardless of level of expertise).

PeaZip - It looks better than 7-zip, unpacks TONS of formats and has a native x64 binary... Nothing else to say.

HotSwap! - Safely remove eSATA drives (and other stuff if you choose).... Yes, it needs to be done.

Serious Samurize - Widgets on steroids, there's nothing more customizable. It's not made to be simple though, so expect to fiddle about ALOT if you want something unique.

There goes... Just my few cents.

A:Some suggested software that does a great job.

FWIW, 7Zip also has native 64bit binaries as well....

But I do like Pea, almost as much as I still love me WinRAR....

I'm running a P-III/500 machine with an Abit BE6 MB using W98SE.

The MB will support up to three 256MB DIMMs for 768MB total.

I've been getting conflicting advice from salespeople as to whether it's advisable to limit W98SE to 512MB or go to 768MB.

Some say to max it out. One says W98SE has a memory leak problem above 512MB and performance will go down.

Most agreed that upgrading from my current 256MB will show a marked improvement in performance -- apps loading, resources available, less crashes due to pushing the multitasking.

Should I go to 512MB, or should I go to 768MB?

Thanks!
