My laptop apears to have a small shaded spot on its screen. The spot is visable with the screen being on, and also when the screen is completely off. The spot is located on the lower left of the screen.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I am totally disappointed in Lenovo's customer support. My lenovo 710s was bought less than 1 year ago (as of 10/6/2017, when I sent it in for repairs) and had 2 years warranty (1+1 year of extended warranty). I sent my laptop for repair due to a white spot issue on the monitor, affecting viewing of webpages and videos. However, the laptop was returned after 3 weeks without any fixes/repairs, as Lenovo claimed that it was a cosmetic issue. I wrote a message on their customer care website on 3/7/2017. However, they ignored me and there was no reply to date.  I thought Lenovo is a reliable and popular brand. However, it turned out to be a horrible decision, much to my dismay!

I'm a Texan !! Could somebody please tell me the M.2 Interface speed of the Lenovo Ideapad S340-15IWL ? The Toshiba hard drive that was installed was a PCIE 3 x2, and I only have another x2 here at the house so I have no way of knowing if it will support x4. Dang... specs everywhere on this gem but no info on the interface speed... looked EVERYWHERE ! Don't want to waste money on a Samsung 970 Pro if if doesn't support the x4 interface. Thanks in advance Bob

NOTE: I attempted to post this as a reply to update to my previous post BUT its not showing up for some reason: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-U-and-S-Series-Notebooks/IdeaPad-S340-Wont-Start-1-Bios-Related-... The place I have always gone to have computers fixed (I live abroad in SE Asia but bought the Laptop online from Staples when I visited the USA last summer) told me: 1) Its the Bios chip on the motherboard that needs to be replaced. My understanding is that such chips are inexpensive (compared to replacing an entire motherboard) but require expertise to replace as some shodding etc might be needed.2) Because its a new model, they can't get the chip or work on it. 3) They confirmed (as they fix alot of different computers here) the so-called Lenovo service center where I live (SE Asia) won't be of much help as they don't want to work on motherboard etc parts. They rather just replace the entire motherboard etc and take FOREVER (which is what someone at the Lenovo store also warned me about!).4) My so-called "International" Warranty apparently is not so International. Asside from wanting to charge me at least $250 to replace an entire motherboard when its just a chip that is faulty, it might take the Lenovo service center 3 months to order and receive the motherboard...5) My Lenovo Warranty in the USA is good for almost another 6 months. 5) I have the harddrive taken out so I can acess all the files etc. I will also conta... Hi @all, I just bought an S340-14IIL Laptop (ideapad) - Type 81VV connecting a monitor with the HDMI port is no problem but I want to connect a monitor with the USB-C s (USB 3.1 Gen 1) port for use of multiple screens on the pc. I have two screens one connects with an mini display Port/thunderbolt 2 cable and one connects with  a HDMI calbe. I have tried to connect the monitors with two different USB-c adapters ( those worked fine with my dell xps notebook bevore) but I cant get it to work with this PC(running a usb mouse or keyboard with the adapters works fine). In the manual Lenovo writtes that I should be able to connect monitors with a resulution up to 3840 x 2160 Pixel / 60 Hz on the USB-c Port. Now my question is witch adapters can I use to connect my Laptop with one of my Monitors ( one has HDMI the other mini displayport).Lenovo Support couldnt help me with this would realy appreciate it if someone could help me out here.

Hi,     after lenovo boot up screen on my yoga machine ( Yoga 700-11ISK Laptop (ideapad)), the laptop screen turns blank and stays like this.    It can however connect to an external screen through the micro hdmi connection.    I run the Lenovo diagonstics (online and offline) but it didn't find any problem.    Any clues? Thanks,Nicole.

A permanent bright white spot just showed up on the left side my screen around an hour ago. I've never touched the screen or done anything to damage it so i don't know why this has happened. I have 170 days left on my warranty. To get the screen fixed, is this covered in my warranty? And if so, do i take it back to where i bought it to get it fixed, or a service center?

Hello ,I'm using HP 15-D005TU laptop ,Today morning while I was playing game the screen suddenly became pink every thing is appearing in pink shade, also battery is draining very fast ( approx 1% in 1-2 mins) restarted it few time , got normal for few minutes after which it gain gone pink.Please help.

The pictures show it. Some days the area on the right on is dark, sometimes it is bright.  The second issue is that the screen won't always come on as bright as it should. This always happens when the computer has gone to sleep, and when I try to wake it the brightness looks turned all the way down, even though the computer thinks it is at 100% brightness.

Hi people,I have some issue with my screen on lenovo thinkpad t450. I bought it in Sweden recently (few months ago) and everything was fine, and then this morning this black spot of pixels showed up. It was not punched or something like that, it was on my desk the whole time.I tried to run JScreenFix.com on this place and also to massage it with a soft cloth but it seems that it just gets worse.The problem I have is that I am now in Serbia, and I have this international warranty, but only in one city in Serbia which is on the other part of the country.Also, I saw that there are service providers in my city, but I am not sure if they can fix me this as regular service with warranty.Do you maybe know how this functiones? Or have some tips how to solve this?

Hi everyone,I just received a super beautiful Lenovo Yoga 920 laptop, but quickly discovered a very ugly and disturbing thing.At first, I thought it is a dead (black) pixel. After playing around with different lighting / light exposure, I found out that this spot is  there even when the laptop is turned off.Laptop on, white background: super ugly black spotLaptop off, shade: not visibleLaptop on, sunlight: visible in a colour that can be best described as some shiny glass colour.I attached some pictures. They are all showing this same spot, with different light exposure.Gentle wiping/rubbing didn't help at all.It is right in the center of the screen, and super disturbing. It destroys the whole experience of this basically beautiful Yoga.Thanks for sharing ideas!

heya i dont know if anyone has had this problem or whether anyone is able to help but i have a lenovo ideapad z580 model type 2151 core i5 3210m laptop that powers on, fan spins, led lights come on and screen lights up but nothing is displayed, no lenovo logo, no access to bios, nothing. if i use the nova key the blue menu pops up in the middle of the screen but if any of the options are selected the menu disappears and screen stays blank. i have tried connecting to an external monitor and get nothing, i have reseated ram, swapped ram slots, reseated hard drive. tried it without a hard drive, taken out the cmos battery, taken out the battery and held down the power button for 60 seconds, tried it on just the ac adaptor, unplugged all peripherals i.e dvd drive, wifi card ect. if i press ctrl alt delete computer restarts but still the blank screen, ive seen many posts and forums that describe a display that black as in doesnt turn on but mine is on, i can see the light switch on when i press the power button. any help anyone could give me would be grately appreciated. thank you

Hey everyone, My Intel HD graphics 520 driver continuously crashes and basically shuts down my computer. The power button/keys are still on, but I just get a black screen (with some light behind it), as if it is in sleep mode, and I cannot wake up my computer anymore. The only solution then is to just force it off by holding the power button and restart it. I feel it happens at random, but it seems to occur more often when I'm playing a video or something (although that may just be a coincidence). I've had this problem for a long time and have tried several times to reinstall or update the driver. Because I got so fed up with it I just disabled the driver and used the NVIDIA Geforce 920M driver, which works sort of fine with the only big disadvantages that I can't increase or reduce the brightness of my screen anymore and can't run certain programs/games properly. So, therefore, I'm still looking for a solution.  Can anybody help me out?

I have an IdeaPad S340-14IWL but the wall charger that came with it is generally a pain to use. In particular, it is really awkward when travelling. Hello, I was wondering why when I installed my 160 GB HDD my keyboard was a little high on that side. Am I using the wrong HDD? Hi -- I have an IdeaPad S340 that is less than a year old. I use Zoom and Microsoft Teams almost every day for video calls. Out of nowhere people are saying they can barely hear me or that I sound garbled or underwater. I have uninstalled and installed Zoom several times, and have tested on Skype and others so I know it's a computer issue. I believe this started after I had one call where I plugged in an external microphone (which works fine). I have also checked the settings on the computer and Zoom to make sure it's routing to the system mic and not to the (now unplugged) external mic. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Hello lenovo community. I want to upgrade my RAM on this laptop. I know that officialy supports only 12 gb. But, I can remove the 4 gb module and put a 16 gb one? It will work. I saw laptops or pc s in the past that manage to support more RAM that what specs said.  Only 12 gigs seems a low amount of memory for what I do, i mean for chrome). PS: i will install the last BIOS update

You can isolate the issue if it is happening only in the built in LCD panel and not when connected on any external display. Check if the same spot and lines appear in the BIOS to differenciate it from GPU / drivers issues.
 
You can try to apply the pixel policy test as described here. If warranty is still active then perhaps you can avail of the services offered by tech support specially if it does isolate on the LCD panel itself.

Hi my new laptop is still within the 1st month warranty so I can swap if I wish.
My question is;
As there's only 1 white spot in the same place since I've purchased it, I don't really mind & happy to keep this laptop, as long as it's not going to grow or cause other problems?  Should I return it or not?
Or is there a long term fix?

If you have a SATA 2.5" SSD in your notebook - you can add an M.2 PCI Express NvMe driveIf you have an M.2 drive, you can add a 2.5" SATA drive (mechanical HDD or SSD) as long as height conforms to specs My Ideapad S340-15IWL came with a 256gb NvMe drive (gen 2 I think). I immediately added a 512gb sata SSD and had 2 drives. There was nothing extra I needed to buy as the empty slot for the 2.5" drive had the mounting kit empty already in the machine. Couple weeks ago, I bought an Intel 660p M.2 2TB NvMe drive, wanting to use it in an older Win7 desktop to replace a Samsung 970EVO 512gb M.2 drive. Basically, can use Samsung M.2 in Win7 as a boot drive pretty easily, but found it nearly impossible to do with an Intel drive (Win7 doesn't have the pre-GUI drivers needed to bootup from the drive). So, decided to replace both the 2.5" SSD I added to the Ideapad and the original Lenovo-supplied M.2 drive with the Intel 2TB M.2 drive. Using a Qnime NvMe USB enclosure (temporarily put the Intel drive in it and connect to Ideapad USB port), boot the Lenovo with a G4L (Ghost for Linux) bootable USB drive, and clone the internal Lenovo M.2 drive to the Intel M.2 with G4L's Click'nClone. When the clone was done, shut down, and then removed the bottom cover from the Lenovo, and disconnected the battery from the motherboard. Removed the Lenovo-supplied 256gb M.2 (which has both M and B keys and is a 2240 form factor) and put in the Intel 2TB M.2 (which has only... I have an ideapad S340-15IWL, the 81N8003SUS model to be exact. Core i5-8265U, 8 gigs RAM, 15.6" monitor and 256 GB SSD. Purchased via walmart.com, as the eact same model at Staples was sold out, as I purchased this at the start of september. I've had it the three months total. Last tuesday night in the middle of a programing assignment for a college class the screen went black (black as in no signal, as if somoene cut the connector) and the entire machine was unresponsive. Holing the power button or Novo button did nothing until this morning (thrusday morning) when the battery finally gave out and the machine was able to be rebooted. Tuesday via live chat a service rep said to leave it overnight and see if the battery drains. It lasted until last night sometime. yesterday (wednesday) I contacted lenovo support and they suggested it may be a hardware issue inside the machine and are sending out a box and opened up a ticket, as it' is under warranty being only three months old. The machine booted up this morning via holding the Novo button and booting normally. Is this a hardware issue? Is it known? Will it happen again? Should I send it back anyways? There's no way to open it up and disconnect the battery without voiding the warranty. I would like to feel relaitively safe this won't happen in the middle of an important assignment as all my classes are online based via Blackboard (or a new system the uni is switching to next semester)

Issue:-Lennovo ideapad s340 14inch. I installed Samsung 970 Evo Plus 250Gb SSD in the system. I want this to be first boot device but my BIOS doesn't show any boot device order/priority menu. How shall I do it? I am attaching some pictures of my BIOS setting. If you see in pictures attached, under legacy, I have set the first item as Samsung SSD but it still doesn't boot from this. However, if I remove HHD and only keep SSD in the system, it works fine. P>S: - I migrated my original OS from HDD to SSD by Samsung Migration utility for 970Evo plus. I purchased a brand new Ideapad S340-15API (Model: 81NC00D3CY) on Tuesday. I set up successfully, downloaded all Windows updates and used the Lenovo site to check hardware and update all drivers. Everything is now updated and no issues were found. My problem is the internet is very slow. Other devices on the same network measure 25-30Mbps download through Speedtest.net but the S340 only 5-6Mpbs when it's next to the modem and 1Mbps when it is in the next room which is where I want to use it.  I updated the Qualcomm network adapter driver  from device manager but still nothing. I updated BIOS and still the same. How can I solve this? Is there a solution or should I just return the laptop? Would an external USB wifi adapter improve things?

Hi,I have a Lenovo Ideapad U410 Laptop with Have Windows 8.1, Diplay Adapters ->  Intel HD Graphics 4000, Nvidia Geoforce 610 M.
 
Recently I have suddenly had a problem appear with my laptop. A One Inch Black Bar on the right side of the screen is appearing as if it is the end of the screen, whereas as you can see it is not. Also at the bottom of the screen the taskbar which was auto hide is not working, so had to lock the taskbar. 
 
 Tried many things like :
 
1) Display settings adjustments - Recommended is 1280 X 800 [Not sure if it is the original ones]; 
2) Updated Drivers for Intel HD Graphics 4000 and Nvidia Geoforce 610 M;
3) Update BIOS;
4) Etc.
 
Any ideas what the issue is ??? Any one face similar issues. Any solution is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried checking this issue under the BIOS mode.
  Power ON the computer and start hitting F2.
 
If the problem is visible under BIOS, then don't mind the driver as the problem might be the GPU or the LCD screen.
  to isolate the issue further you can use an external monitor.
 
If the problem is not visible under an external monitor, then you have a problem with the GPU
