Yoga 12 has stopped finding new wifi networks

Q: Yoga 12 has stopped finding new wifi networks

Suddenly my Yoga 12 refuses to list all available wifi networks. It only lists networks that I have used before, like my cellphone hotspot. It will not list any new networks, like the Panera Bread or the Pete's I just walked into. I am sitting in a very commercial area, and there should be at least 12-15 networks showing on the list. But the only one itI can connect to is my cellphone. And yes, my wifi adapter is up to date, I just updated the driver. No change.

Preferred Solution: Yoga 12 has stopped finding new wifi networks

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi Holmes.

I don't have your machine, my only ideas or suggestions are:

1) Try to remove the device (Windows Device Manager) with a right click select "Uninstall" and select "Delete the driver software for this device". After that reinstall the driver againt.

2) Just in case check if getting closer to the router works at all. If moving it improves, maybe it can be something related to the antenna.

3) Maybe you can try something not official approved by Lenovo like finding an update driver for it. For example sometimes I use "DriverEasy" to find newer wifi drivers on my machines. Only use this if you feel confortable installing/uninstalling drivers on your machine.

This is what it cames to my mind right now. Sorry it is not too much.

I was having Wi-fi issues where it was constantly dropping at multiple locations and with a speed test was getting minimal readings. I bought a new Intel 8260 IEEE 802.11ac - Wi-Fi Adapter from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0197W86IE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I Installed and right away speed went up about 20x. Now it will NOT recognize a wi-fi network unless I stand directly next to the router. Then I can move around the house without an issue. My router is broadcasting both 2.4 and 5. All other devices work with no issues. I tried disabling, enabling, updating the driver, rolling back the driver, deleting the old qualcom driver, resetting network settings etc. I can not seem to get anything to get it back to where it was the 1st day I installed. From what I can tell I have tried everything short of a SYSTEM RESTORE. Could this be a disfunctional card? Could I have damaged the card or wire during installation? Could something have become loose?  Anyone with any experience is greatly appreciated. My next step was going to be to open it back up and see of there was a hardware issue. Then my next step was going to be to purchase another. Thanks in advance.

My laptop was connecting to my home WiFi network without problem, and then one day just stopped detecting the WiFi network. It still detects our neighbour's WiFi networks, and it works if I plug in an ethernet cable to my router.  I have tried manually adding the network, but this still doesn't then show up in the list of 'available networks'. Other laptops and devices still detect and connect to the home WiFi network without problems. I've tried a hard reset (ie taking out battery), but this hasn't changed anything. Can anyone suggest anything please? Thanks,Sarah

HI This is probably happening due to some settings or drivers failure so kindly download wi drivers from below given link after choosing your OS and un-install then re-install the freshly downloaded drivers, this will fix your issue. http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/Compaq-Presario-CQ56-Notebook-PC-series/4247498/mode...

I currently have a Qualcom Wireless AC Card in my Yoga 920. When I change wifi networks, I don't always get the internet going right away (we have 2 networks at home and several different networks in the office). I would need to right click on the wifi icon in the task bar and click on troubleshoot, then wait for it to fix itself. This happens probably 90% of the time when I change networks (ie Home network, then when at the office, I connect to the Work network and have to perform the troubleshoot to get the internet going then vice versa when back home. Or even changing between our 2 different Home networks - as in from different ISPs and not just changing between 2.4 and 5ghz connection). Also, is there something wrong with Chrome for the 920? When I change networks, and get the internet going (as in the wifi icon property says that there is internet and the yellow triangle exclamation is not present anymore), google chrome does not automatically connect to the internet and load pages. Edge, on the other hand, does not have issues upon gaining internet connection after the troubleshoot. For reference, I have a custom built desktop. I have an Intel AC 8265 in it, and it does not have this issue when switching between our home networks and chrome does not any issue as well. So yeah, I have two issues. Any ideas?

This issue started recently, after months of it working fine. The internet just would randomly stop working. I would use the troubleshooting function, it would go through the process and connect to our network, but then when I tried to go to a website, it would say there was no internet. Eventually I was able to get an old Netgear USB Adapter to work. I have tried changing the power settings, removing the drivers in the device manager, and I have the latest wifi driver. I have read many of the help posts on other Yoga wifi issues. Is this a software issue or a hardware issue? Thanks for the help!

I have Toshiba laptop and Win 7. It is brand new laptop and original windows. I tried to install AWUS036H and it was successful but unfortunately adapter doesn't detect any networks. It happened with my old laptop with Win 7(Acer) and I had to reinstall windows fresh and it worked. But I wouldn't like to do it again here. As you may see on picture internal adapter has X in corner and it is working but RTL8187 doesn't, it just says Enabled and nothing happens. No networks detecting. In device manager everything is fine, no yellow icons. Also it is not detected by my ipconfig/all command. The same thing happens in safe mode

Adapter is not broken, it is working on linux. This is image from win 8.1 but it happens on my Win 7

Try this

Download the latest ar956x driver from here:

Release: 2014-07-22 [July '14]
OS: Windows 7 32/64bit
Status: WHQL
File: win7- (2585 KB)

Unzip the package and note the location
Uninstall the driver from the device in Dev mgr, remove software if presented (checkbox or prompt)
then update the driver from within Dev mgr using the unzipped inf file

Some reports on the Qualcom board indicate that you might have success with an earlier version, but I only see then on the site I linked.

Try the newest first , then the 255 (270 was the one the poster on Qualcom complained about)

Maybe the Toshiba site has a version that works. My method is to install the base or original driver from the PC OEM support page and work up if the peripheral board driver doesn't help solve the issue.

I have a silly question. I have a simple wireless network set up here with a linksys router. I didn't have it security-enabled because I didn't know how to do it. My new neighbor said when he was setting up his new wireless network, he "saw" my network and could have tapped into it. Now I have mine security-enabled to prevent that, but I'm wondering how many other people could see my network and might have logged into it. Here's my question -- how did they do that? How do you search for nearby networks? My laptop is wireless ready and wifi enabled, but I haven't the slightest clue on how to do all that. Also, now that I'm behind security, can others still see me and just not be able to access or am I invisible now?

See? I told you I had a silly question.

Hello guys! I just got Windows 8 a week or so ago and I left it on today. I came home and my internet suddenly couldn't find any networks. I googled how to get it back, but when I go to pc settings there is no Wireless tab. I cant turn it on, I've tried reinstalling my wireless card LAN driver, restarting my PC and doing a system restore to the last recommended time, nothing works. Please help me.

A:Suddenly not finding any networks

Could you first try plugging in an ethernet cable and connecting locally? This will determine if it is the OS being unable to connect at all or if it is to do with the wireless NIC.

Does this happen to any other device on the network?

Also could you please try and connect wirelessly in Safe mode with networking to see if there are any third party applications that may be interrupting the connection process. To do so please follow this tutorial (Option Three) - Safe Mode - Start Windows 8 in

Please post back your results

Many Thanks,

I am aware of various software tools which can be downloaded and run on a PC in order to find what wireless networks are broadcasting in the immediate area. Naturally, these all require the PC to have a wireless adaptor

Is there anything which can be loaded onto a PC without wireless and then use the wired connection to a router with wireless to use the router to detect other networks?

A:Finding local Wireless networks

what are you trying to achieve here?

a router does not normally detect wireless signals in its normal use

It would need to be configured sa an extender or repeater, most do not have that facility
some routers will act access as a wireless adapter - so you can connect to the PC by ethernet and it will pickup the wireless signals in the area

IS the router you have connected to a broadband connection ?

Most wireless signals are now security enabled - so even if you could detect them you could not use them - is that what you are trying to do - avoid the cost of having your own broadband by piggybacking on someone else's wireless

make and exact model of the router you have

Hello everybody.

My computer was working fine yesterday, it showed about 6 Networks and I was able to connect to my own network, D-Link fine. Now after playing a game via game booster I tried to acces Google Chrome and it says "this webpage is not available" I cant acces Skype or steam or anything that requires internet.

I thought I had simply disconnected my self but when I went to check, it shows no networks. I thought this was my connection but then tried other devices "I-Mac, I-Pad, Windows XP Desktop and a DSI" and they all seem to find many networks and connect to D-Link fine.

Has anybody got any ideas about why this might be. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Lee

A:My laptop is not finding any networks when other computer are.

It's hard to say exactly what is causing this problem without looking at your ipconfig/all but running the file below will take care of most internal network problems. If you are still having problems please post your ipconfig/all here please. Just type the command ipconfig/all into an elevated command pompt.

Lets try flushing DNS cache and renewing your IP.

Flush the DNS cache and restore MS's Hosts file ...
Copy and paste these lines in Note pad.

@Echo on
attrib -h -s -r hosts
echo localhost>HOSTS
attrib +r +h +s hosts
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset all
netsh int ip reset all
shutdown -r -t 1
del %0

Save as flush.bat to your desktop. Right click on the flush.bat file to run it as Administrator.

Your computer will reboot itself.

About a week ago, my power went out, and when it came back on, I still had no internet. After a few calls to my local provider, they had me re-install my network adapters, and I could finally get internet when wired in. The problem is that it wont connect via wireless. I thought it was the router, but since my wife's computer (Vista) can connect via wireless, it has to be something with my computer. Further investigation shows that it wont even recognize any wireless networks. Ive tried a bunch of things like ipconfig/release and /renew, and cleared my DNS cache, but nothing seems to be working. Try to uninstall your Wireless drivers, download them from the Toshiba Site, install them and test again.

Make sure to select your exact model.

If not, uninstall the drivers, reboot and let windows 7 find its own! that could work too

Silly question, do you have the Wireless on? or is it enabled in the Network Adapters and Connections?

EDIT: use the "Code" option for not making your post too long (code the whole ipconfig /all value) like this:

Hey there !

I'm going crazy here, I hope you can help !

For compatibility reasons (running macosX) I have switched my old adapter with an atheros 5B195 in my ACER V5-471.

In Mac Os it looks like it is working but cant find any networks to connect to.
In Windows 8, the OS says the adapter is there and working but unavailable. The wifi appears to be turned off, but there is no way to turn it back ON, either by hitting Fn+F3 or any other technique. I managed to get it ON once or twice with some drivers, but couldnt find any networks either, I turned it off and then couldnt turn it back ON.

The funny thing is that everything is working fine with a live CD of Ubuntu, so I know the adapter is working.

The bluetooth part works fine on the three systems.

The system messages for both Macosx and Windows show the adapter as being here and working fine.

Any suggestion ?

THanks !

I've been having a problem for a while now with my wireless adapter. I know it's not the router because all of my roommates are able to use it fine and I usually can't see the connections at school or any public place.

The problem is that most of the time there will be no networks to connect to according to my computer (connection symbol has an x on it), even though there is. I have upgraded from Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit) to Windows 7 Professional (64-Bit). When I first (clean) installed windows 7 it worked fine for 2-3 weeks but now it rarely can find networks and when it does it may only be for 2 minutes.

I've tried reinstalling windows 7 and it works for a few hours and then goes back to not working properly. I've tried reinstalling the drivers not no success and I've tried upgrading to Intel's specific windows 7 64-bit drivers to no improvements. I've called Dell and their limited technical support couldn't help me.

Dell Inspiron 1520 with a
Broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller newtwork adapter

Hello all....LONG time visitor/reader....first time poster. This one has me stumped. I have a Gateway laptop...Windows XP home. My computer recently had ANTIVIRUS 2009 after my friend borrowed and got it infected. It was terrible, but it was able to connect to the net still. I downloaded and installed and ran Malwarebytes and it immediately found the rogue program. It finished and I proceeded to remove it with the program. It restarted and poof it was gone. Now, Windows will NOT recognize any wireless networks or connect to any wifi internet connections. The device manager sees that the card is turned on and working properly. My other PC still recognizes the network and connects just fine and dandy. But not the "fixed" laptop. Please help...ANY input will be greatly appreciated and I hope to be fortunate enough to solve this problem. Thanks!

Hi all,

I have the following issue with my HP laptop and I'm hoping someone here has an answer for me

HP pavilion DV7-3120ed will not connect to wlan.

Contains Atheros AR9285 wireless adapter, when I go to network centre and hit adaptersettings (or something similar, my computer is in Dutch, so not sure about the exact English terminology) it tells me the adapter is active, although the HP wireless assistant tells me it is deactivated. HP assistant tells me to activate the adapter by using the switch on the laptop. problem is, the switch isn't working, it's supposed to be either amber or blue, depending on whether the wifi is on or off, but it's neither, it doesn't light up at all.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, I opened up the laptop (warranty expired anyways) to check if the button and wireless card were properly conected, which they are.

I know the Atheros cards are often regarded as rubbish, but it's the best I've got and until an hour or so ago it was working fine with this router. Other appliances, such as this laptop (HP compaq nc6320, running Ubuntu) and my smartphone (android) are connecting fine, but this is an older laptop and I need my Pavilion for work, as this laptop won't handle the necessary software, which is for Windows.

Hi CoolRanchTaco,
Most laptops have a hardware switch to enable or disable the wireless.  To check this, there is usually an LED indicator for the wireless.  Can you see one on your laptop? I believe on HP laptops the LED shows blue if enabled or orange disabled.
It's been a while since I've seen a HP Pavilion DV5000 but I believe the wireless button just above the keyboard.
Can you confirm this buttons LED is blue ?
If it is orange, pushing the button should enable the wireless and turn the LED blue.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Thank you.

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum or not, but two days in a row, now, I've had connection issues with my wireless dongle.  I reinstalled the software yesterday and it worked, but I decided to get a backup dongle with the same software, just in case it was a hardware issue.  This morning I get up to the "limited connectivity" problem and did various uninstalls and reinstalls to try and get on my network with a reasonable signal.  I kept getting messages that there may be a problem with the driver, or with the device itself, so I tried both dongles, reinstalled the software, several times.  But, at one point, I checked the list of local networks and there were two with very strong signals I'd never seen before.  One was called FEE2 and the other was called (I think) F2E2.  Both had strong signals as though they were coming from inside my house (I have an N router).  Finally, on the last reinstall, I was able to get back on my own network, and those other two networks had disappeared from the list.  Now the only networks on my list are all the usual neighbors with weak signals and only mine with the strong signal.  Does anybody know what those other networks might be?  Was it a possible "drive by network?"  It just seemed weird that they appeared while I was having trouble, and disappeared once the trouble miraculously seemed to fix itself.

A:Odd wifi networks

It could be that those 2 Wifi networks you noticed operated on the same channel as your network, and were so powerful that they interfered with your network signals.

I went into the router and SSID is enabled. The problem must be that NO networks are being shown at all. I know there about a dozen in this area as I can see them on my Asus Transformer and my wife also sees them in her netbook. I have tried updating drivers for wifi but it seems I already have the latest.

Any help would be great please!

A:Cannot see any wifi networks

Is the wifi adapter enabled?

There is often a physical switch for this, if not find it in the device manager, view its properties and and ensure "Use this device" is selected.

Failing that, remove the HP wireless software and in services.msc make sure wireless Zero Config is enabled and started (automatic) then let windows manage your wireless connection, sometimes if you have multiple wifi managers they conflict and you cant get anywhere with either of them.

Right now my whole apt complex is in a WEP protected wireless network that is connected to the internet. For some reason I can't get the 3 computers in my apt to file
share on the network (2pcs and 2 macs) (The guy who runs our network seems a little flaky so I'm a little hesisitant to ask him. Granted I don't know a lot
about networking myself).

I got a wireless router from netgear. What I would like to do is:
a) connect the computers in my apt (2 pcs and 2 macs) to each other and a network printer via the router w/o connecting to the net to create my own wireless network separate from the apt complexs network.

b) allow all the computers to connect to both my network and the apt complex's network at the same time (so I can print off the internet).

Is this possible? To do part b would I need to create a network bridge?

Also, is there a good online resource that's explains a lot of this stuff in a "netowrking for dummies" fashion?

A:2 wifi networks at once?

"... I can't get the 3 computers in my apt to file
share on the network (2pcs and 2 macs) ..."

It might just be a simple math problem.

To do your part b would require using two wireless adaptors in each computer. While I think part b can be done, it is quite an ambitious goal for someone who also asks for "netowrking for dummies"!

Your best solution would be to get a wireless bridge, which would allow you to connect your router to the apartment's wireless network. That allows the router to work the same as if your internet were cable or DSL. You would want an 802.11g of course, but here is an example of a 802.11b bridge: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...Sku=D700-2152&SRCCODE=WEBGOOAUT&CMP=KNC-GOOGL

Unless your apt. complex is using some kind of VPN to isolate each computer, the second best choice, my opinion, is to just get sharing working now. Note, though, that such sharing would extend to everybody else on the network unless you have a 3rd party firewall to limit access to only your other computers.

What does that mean? Your wireless router walked away and you couldn't find it?

Please describe what your problem is.

Yoga 2 13 Model 201344 running Windows 8.1 64bitA few months back I notice that the Airplane Mode toggle (F7) stopped working. Since I could still use airplane mode by going to network settings, I ignored it.This morning, I checked email and everything worked fine. An hour or so later I tried to go online and no Wi-Finetworks could be detected. NONE. HOWEVER, my Airplane Mode toggle (F7) is miraculously working again.I have occassionally used my iPhone as a Wi-Fi hotspot so I tried to connect through my phone or at least SEE the Wi-Fi hotspot. NADA. My Wi-Fi hotspot (phone) is not detected either.I then physically moved the Yoga next to the Wi-Fi router. It then detects the router and connects, but with-OUT internet access. The issue is not with the router or internet as the Wi-Fi is NOT detecting ANY Wi-Fi devices whatsoever (normally it shows 8-10 in the list that are within range).I ran the Lenovo diagnostics which reported no errors.I verified that WLAN service is running and even stopped and restarted it and all dependent services.I checked the driver and uninstalled the device even though DM says it's working fine.I then uninstalled & reinstalled both the LAN and the Wi-Fi adaptors,.I shut off auto management of the adaptor in Device ManagerI ran System Restore back to a point when the Wi-Fi WAS working and still NO Wi-Fi networks are detected.I looked for a new driver, but found none.I have been searching forums and have not found any more ideas.I have not changed ... Hi all,

Was not sure where the best place for this would be, sorry if it is in the wrong forum.

I have been asked today by a colleague what the law states about accessing somebody's open wifi network. so there is no hacking or packet sniffing involved just clicking connect and using the internet. I was not sure on the answer so though i would ask the people who i thought would be able to point me in the right direction.

Does any body know what the UK law says on this? I was in 2 minds as to weather it was legal or not because.

You are not hacking or breaking in as such, it has been left open but on the other hand its not yours to access and so do you have any rights to connect to the network. I know that some places offer free wifi now but what about houses that have wifi and have not secured it?

Windows 8.1, Broadcom 802.11n network card&driver,

My computer stopped recognizing the wireless networks at my university - oddly enough, some other networks elsewhere can be found (although I cannot test if I can actually connect to them, since they are passworded/not mine).

I followed the 3 steps of Network Posting Tips

Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector showed nothing: Connection - Broadcom 802.11n network card - NA, everything under Wireless and Addresses also NA. No networks.

Any bright ideas?

Thanks in advance,

EDIT: forgot to add that my home adsl modem works.

A:W8.1 some wifi networks not recognized

Have you tried working with your campus IT group? I would go to them. That is what they are there for. Schools have been known to block users computers, if they are infected, use up a lot of bandwidth (ie Torrents/P2P), or if you have to have the IT group set your unit up on the network, so they can track who is on the network, that is a student.

Why would you want to use both?
Your LAN connect will be faster then Wireless, so your doing nothing but making your machine work harder for the same information. Since the LAN has to slow down to the wireless speed to check the downloads completed amount before it continues with the next part.

Hello all you W7 users.

I have had a perfectly harmonious dual boot system (Ubuntu 10.04 and W7) for a few months now .... until about 4 or 5 days ago, which is about how long I've been trying to fix this problem.

My laptop has an Atheros AR9285 wifi card in it (which generally seems to be considered a pile of rubbish) which stopped working after I tried to update its driver. However the card still functions well when I boot into Linux, so the card is obviously good. In W7 (an upgrade from the "Pro" edition to the "Ultimate" edition, because of wanting to change system languages when necessary) I can no longer see any wifi networks. The card "details" tell me that it is functioning correctly, it is properly enabled and the driver is the same one now that it had before when everything worked OK. When I run a W7 powered "diagnostic" I'm told that there seems to be trouble with the driver.

I can normally fix this kind of thing with a certain tenacity but this has got me!! I'm tired, frustrated and very angry. I have tried just about everything that has been suggested on the many forums etc. that I have visited in an effort to solve my problem.

Can anyone help an old guy out here? Many, many thanks in advance.

All the best,

PS I forgot to add that I even went out and bought a Netgear N300 USB wifi adapter which it was impossible to install in W7, but which works perfectly in Ubuntu 10.04.

A:I don't have any wifi networks visible/available

I'll link you to a bunch of tutorials, all of which may help you.
* Roll back driver (works for both vista and win7): Device Manager - Roll Back Driver - Vista Forums
* or try complete uninstallation of driver (windows should automatically install its own generic driver until you get an updated one): Uninstall Device and Device Driver - Vista Forums
* Have windows search for a drier for you: Driver Install - Device Manager
* Change auto-install settings for drivers in win7: Device Installation Settings-OR--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------OR-* you can look up the most recent driver from the manufacturer of the device to download. If that is the one that doesn't work, try a slightly older one, or go with the windows pick

Hi Abhimahatu, welcome to the Seven Forums.

My response below is not meant to accuse the OP of anything. Instead, it is solely based on how I interpret the OP's post.
Reading between the lines, it seems that you are "borrowing" other people's WiFi without their knowledge. If that is the case, we cannot help you due the forum rules. We will not, we are not allowed to assist in breaking to other user's networks and computers.

The fact that your Ubuntu and mobile can see the networks makes it obvious that those WiFi networks are not set to be invisible. Reseting router or changing its frequency could solve the issue but for that you'd need access the router in question which I think is not possible for you.

I also am having a problem with my Win7 laptop seeing wifi networks. It was working fine about a week ago but for the last few days it can't or won't discover ANY wifi networks and there are a dozen or so in the neighborhood that I can see on my desktop and Win8.1 laptop.. I tried "Connect to a Network" and it won't respond. I then go back to where it says Unkown and under More information, it then says that Network List Service List needs to be turned on. When I click to turn it on, I get a message asking if I want to let Network and Sharing Center make a change to my computer. When I click yes, I get an error message that "The dependency service or group failed to start."

Has this laptop been corrupted by a virus or other malware? Or is this a hardware failure?

A:can't or won't discover ANY wifi networks

In Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services double click on that service to see its Properties. Look at the dependencies (Network Location Awareness and Remote Procedure Call (RPC) on this 8.1 system) and determine which of those will not start. See if you can determine a root cause of the problem.

Ok so here's the thing. Installed W8 pro with media centre (x86). Everything worked fine, connected to internet wirelessly no problem. Then after a couple of days I get no networks found out of the blue for no apparent reason.

Here are the facts:

Router/internet connection is fine, other devices in my house still connect fine.
Network card fine. Have the most up to date drivers, device working properly etc etc.
If I connect pc to router with ethernet cable I can get on internet fine.
If I do a troubleshoot it just tells me to investigate router or access point issues (turn router off for 10 seconds etc). Like I said, router is fine; NO networks are found, neighbour's one usually comes up but not any more.

Any help appreciated!

A:Wifi - No networks found

Maybe your neighbor quit broadcasting SSID. Go to Starbucks and check their wireless out, assuming your router isn't wireless. Is your router wireless? Are there any wireless computers at your place connecting wirelessly via your router? Could a mechanical wifi switch on your computer have been accidentally turned off.

I have a boat at a marina and I have a wifi network on board, but the wifi onboard only is for local network file sharing and a printer, it isn't connected to the internet. I can connect to the marina's public internet wifi just fine and have both with two different wifi adapters on the same laptop, however, I lose internet when I do. If I just connect to the marina's wifi and disconnect the boat's wifi, I can get internet. But, that disconnects me from the printers and my network. How can I connect to both wifis and get both my own network printer and drives, and still connect to the marina wifi internet at the same time?

I have an HP Pavilion dv4 that was connecting to wireless just fine one night. The laptop lid was closed putting the machine into hibernation for the night. The next day the laptop would no longer connect to wireless.

When I try to manually connect to a wifi network, it tells me it can't see any networks. Just to test I turned on my phones hotspot capability and told the laptop to rescan and it still didn't see the network.

I shutdown the laptop so that I could physically check the wireless card. I made sure that it was properly seated and that the wires connecting the wire part of the antenna to the chip are secure as well.

The wireless card is a Broadcome 4322AG 802.11a/b/g/draft-n

Please let me know if you need any other information to help me troubleshoot this

A:Windows vista stopped viewing wireless networks

There is most likely nothing wrong with your laptop's wireless adapter, otherwise Windows would have reported an entirely different error (such as "wifi adapter not detected") and you would have been unable to even open the "Detect wireless networks" window.

There is a checklist here which may help: Troubleshoot problems finding wireless networks

A:HP Pavillion DV 6000 stopped picking up wireless networks

Welcome to the club and I don't say that sarcastically; I feel your pain. This is quite a well known problem with HP's DV 6000 series; a series that had MAJOR failures with their motherboards due to poor cooling. Their 9000 series also had epic fails. One tech guy that I know told me that in their shop the wireless card failing was the beginning sign of motherboard issues.

Its not your wireless card per se though. I speak from personal experience as my daughter's wireless connection died as well. I even replaced the card and it still didn't work. I also did everything you mentioned plus I followed HP's instructions. I even contacted them and the cost to fix was rediculous. They even said it most likely is a motherboard issue after I did everything they instructed to resolve the issue.

So to answer your last question: Yes, a USB wireless adapter will work. It did for my daughter and we hope this system will last us till she graduates this coming May.

The end result is I want to have 2 secure wifi networks with the same IP/subnet range. Ideas? Suggestions? Thanks!
