Audio problems after Lenovo T430 hard drive replacement

Q: Audio problems after Lenovo T430 hard drive replacement

Hello,

I recently had my corrupted hard drive replaced, and while they reinstalled Windows 7 Professional for me, they didn't install some Lenovo drivers that I was used to (like a trackpad one that enabled two-finger scrolling).  Since I installed the Realtek Audio driver, I haven't had sound in certain applications.  The Windows startup and login sounds are fine, as is audio in Windows Media Player, but when I try to play a song in iTunes, the diamond showing the song's progress doesn't move and the play/pause/skip buttons don't work.  On Youtube, videos play fine, but there's no sound.  It's the same on other online streaming websites like CBS.

Occasionally, the sound will come back after startup and stay that way for up to a day, but it's never permanent.  At first, I thought this had something to do with reinstalling the Realtek driver.  I took my laptop to the IT guys at my college, and it seemed like they had fixed it after installing a package of Lenovo drivers, but the sound disappeared after a day or so.  Two days ago, I reinstalled the Realtek driver myself and the sound came back again for a day.  However, I tried doing it again today, with no luck.

Thanks so much in advance for your help!

Best,
Pearl

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Audio problems after Lenovo T430 hard drive replacement

Looks like I fixed it for the time being.  Turned out to be separate problems.  To fix iTunes, I opened Quicktime preferences and under the audio tab, clicked "Select Audio Playback and Recording Devices" and selected the Realtek speakers.  The streaming video problem was possibly Chrome-exclusive.  I downloaded both Shockwave and Flash.  After installing Flash, sound worked fine on IE.  I then disabled the Shockwave plugin in Chrome, which apparently fixed the audio in Chrome.  I've seen people on the internet talking about problems following from there being multiple Flash plugin files in Chrome, but I only had one file.

Hi Everyone, I'm at my wits end and was hoping someone might be able to help me understand what exactly I need to do, purchase to bring my laptop back to life. Long story short, I have had this for just over 2 years, no more warranty and the hard drive I believe is going out/has gone out. It all started with a failed windows 10 upgrade, kept looping, finally I blew away I guess everything on it. Now when I am trying to re-instal windows 8.1 it tells me that it cannot because the hard disk may fail soon. I can get mostly through the windows setup but it always ends up failing. My question is, can someone help me identify what exactly needs to be replaced? I am fairly tech savy good at following directions and installing things by myself. (garbage disposals, haha). What I am not good at is trying to track down what hard drive to buy would be? I hate to bring it to best buy as its $200 just for a diagnosis and then whatever to fix it on top of that.  Can anyone offer insight and help me become enlightened? Thanks so much, L

Hey everyone! So as the title states I am trying to trouble shoot a company laptop which had its hard drive crash last week. Lenovo sent me a replacement hard drive through my service ticket but after installation it just constantly goes to the boot order menu even after selecting the correct hard drive. Shouldn't this come with Windows 10 already installed? Straight from the factory it came with the OS. I tried booting from a windows 7 disc in case the operating system wasn't on the new hard drive but I get the same issue. It keeps going into a loop for the boot order. When I select something it just takes me back to the menu. Any help here is appreciated. Thank you!

First many thanks for any and all help as this is my first time posting. I replaced the hard drive on my dell 9200 dimension with a WD blue cav this am. Took a while as I'm pretty green at this but managed to get it up and running and windows xp downloaded. Problem is I couldnt connect to internet ..so went to the dell site on my laptop plugged in the service tag and downloaded both the most recent bios and chipset software installation to disc then downloaded it to the dimension. Ran both independently of one another rebooted and still am getting yellow ? marks in Device manager on Ethernet Controller, PCI Device and video controller ... what am I doing wrong here??

A:problems with hew hard drive replacement

Did you download/install...the drivers for the Ethernet controller/network device...video function...if the PCI device is a modem, I would not bother with that unless you are on dialup . Just disable the modem in the BIOS settings.

Or you can install it .

I have a raid 1 setup in my server running 2003 and I can not get the new hard drive to run"add raid".

The full story.

I have a server running windows 2003 server. The scsi card is AIC-7902. I can get into the Ctrl+A on boot up but i can not access any hardware Raid setup screen (ctrl+i) is there something I am missing. Is it only a scsi control card and not a raid card? The only place i can get to access the new drives is in the disk management area.

I can actually get the bad hard drive to mount and resinc but it has passed its failure prediction threshold which means it is going to fail soon. That is why i bought two new scsi hard drives to replace the one bad drive. I was planning on doing them one at a time to refresh the two 7 year old drives.

Here is the kicker I currently have 68.49 gb(allocated space) and the new drive i just bought is at 68.36 gb. I know that it is suppose to be at the same size right? I ordered two 73.4 IBM hard drives to replace both 73.4 maxtor hard drives.

Does anyone know if i need to replace the new drives with another 73.4 drive hoping that it will be the same capacity unallocated at 68.50 as the IBM drive?

Is there another work around?

Hello,

I am using a Dell Studio 1535 laptop, running Windows Vista Home Premium. I currently have two problems.

First, the amount of free space available in my hard drive has been varying wildly lately (note: the total amount is static, its the free space that's acting oddly). Shortly after I removed some programs, namely Steam games, I had ~40GB free. Over the course of two weeks, that number rose to ~48GB. This may have been caused by defragmentation and excess data purging that my computer does as a matter of course, but recently it dropped to 35.8GB. This is not too much of a problem in and of itself, since I also own a large external hard drive whose amount of free space has remained constant, but I have performed no installations, nor have a downloaded any data, in any sort of quantity that could possibly justify such a large drop. I am somewhat worried at this point that someone might have hijacked my computer, and I am looking for a way that can help me monitor what's being written/deleted from my hard drive. Does anyone know of such a program, or other method I can use to figure out what's happening?

My second problem is actually a pair of problems that cropped up since I changed my battery. For one, my computer refuses to go to sleep any long, instead going into a shut down the moment I activate the "sleep" command, be it by external button or start menu button. Shut Down, Restart, and Hibernate still work normally, it is just Sleep that ... Read more

OK, I have 4 Thinkpad T430 computers. Having a problem with the audio driver on two of them (but not the other two). All are using Windows 7 SP1. Two of them keep losing the audio. I uninstall the driver, turn the computer back on and it reinstalls the driver and the audio comes back (this took weeks to figure out)?! Any ideas?

A:T430 audio driver problems

Happened to me too. It`s because of the Dolby audio thing that automatically gets installed allong with the audio driver itself. In my case the problem solved by itself after reinstalling all the audio drivers a few times, hopefully it won`t happen again. There must be a driver conflict somewhere in the system. If you don`t mind losing "Dolby Advanced Audio"- which is pretty good, by the way, you can simply unistall the lenovo audio drivers and the os(windows 7, 8, 10) will install default audio drivers, which are ok for everyday tasks.

I have a 6-year old Lenovo T430 with 180 GB SSD. I recently installed an identical SSD as the second drive into the ultrabay slot by using a caddy. I use the first drive mainly for Windows and Program Files, and the second one for data. OS is Windows 8.1. The setup works fine from the day I installed the second HDD. However, during the last couple of days, I started getting error messages (once or twice a day) saying that second drive (D is not available. I will appreciate if anyone can make a suggestion to remedy this annoying problem.

A:Replacement a Motherboard T430

Well, since no one has been able to help, and in the Italian proverb says "who acts as if it for 3", convinced that sooner or later I found the solution, I would cry, I SOLVED THE PROBLEM.I brought my PC in service center for 3 days and I contacted a second technician that I solved the problem because there was for both the motherboard to replace !!!Start by saying that the EEPROM stores a string and not're ready to be overwritten. No way. And if there is not good, you have to delete it and then rewrite it.So it was for the machine type.During BIOS update, at some point the program asks whether to update the Bios or type machine. With the second option, when you see the number dialed by the first 4 characters blackened (not be typed), in the box to the side, or that typed in, press the space bar to clear the contents.Proceed with the upgrade of the serial and follow the onscreen instructions.During the restart, again choose "update serial" and in this way you will see the type of car you previously entered in the bios.Renewed the usual 3 alphanumeric characters and then follow what you're instructed to video. Once this stage remove the update CD bios and restart the PC.LENOVO SOLUTION CENTER will appear in the machine type, and from there the registration data for the warranty and at this point there will also work program updating drivers.Said now is simple, but there are Lenovo technicians arrived! That I can be of help.

If so how do I get a Hard Drive that I know will (fit in my laptop) with my Laptop.

I haven't yet bought the HDD, so I don't know what brand I'll be dealing with. Also, there's only 1 SATA connector inside the computer, so I guess one of the drives will have to connect via USB. Here is the Service Manual: Manual Supports 6.35 cm (2.5 in) hard drives in 9.5 mm (.37 in) and 7.0 mm (.28 in) thicknesses (all hard drives use the same bracket) So that confirms it will accept the one I linked in the post above.  Unfortunately, hard drive removal is a bit tricky. Start on p. 85 of the manual which shows how to remove the top cover.  You can skip over the part about removing the screen and jump to p. 105 for the hard drive.  This series of pictures will also likely help: http://www.myfixguide.com/manual/hp-pavilion-15-p000-disassembly/ If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

In another topic I explained that the hard drive in my G50-80 was failing the "targeted read" and "short drive self test" in both Seagate Sea Tools and Lenovo diagnostics. It crashed a couple of months ago and I performed the on-board recovery and reset which brought it back. It's still running but I'm going to replace the drive with a new one I just ordered from Amazon. So, my question is when it arrives do I just take out the old and install the new drive (which looks pretty simple), plug in my USB recovery flash drive, turn it on and follow the prompts? I hope it's that easy!

I am working on a friends Toshiba Satellite P75-A7100 laptop. His hard drive crashed. Connected hard drive to my PC and cannot access it. My friend has no disks or backups. I will need to replace the hard drive. Having said this, I have a couple of questions to start with:

1. I see no COA sticker on this laptop. I'm not sure about how to activate once 8.1 is loaded.

2. Where would I get 8.1? Is there an iso download and where to get a good one?

Hello, My laptop has started a sound like the spinning of the hard drive, but with a loud sound. Anyhow, I figured I need to change it, but I don't know what kind to get? Can I get a 7200 rpm HD ? Thank you in advance for helping me.

A:Hard Drive Replacement

Hi: Yes, you can get a 7,200 RPM drive. I wouldn't go bigger than 320 GB though. Here is the service manual...chapter 4 will have the hard drive R&R procedures. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01295877 There will probably be an interface you have to remove from the old hard drive to put on the new one, that is not shown in the manual. It looks like this...
