[Active Pen 2] Wacom drivers bug: long press of side button leads to PrintScreen action (Yoga 730)

Q: [Active Pen 2] Wacom drivers bug: long press of side button leads to PrintScreen action (Yoga 730)

Hello! Chapter 1: After the latest drivers update (Wacom develops driver for Lenovo Active Pen 2), the long press of the top side button leads to activation of screenshot event (kind of Snip and Sketch). It interrupts any drawing activity. For example, Sketchable application has a color picking assigned to this button, which is interrupted by screenshot triggering. Note: There are 2 side buttons on the Active Pen 2, and the top side button leads to the issue. It's not about usual top button at the end of the pen, and it's not about long tap of the pen itself (that "issues" were found in a huge amounts in the internet). I found that 1. Working driver version: Lenovo Pen Service (Wacom provider) 7.5.1.21, 2. not working: 7.6.1.29.Now, community, I ask you how and where to report the driver issue? Chapter 2: I reported the issue to Wacom support. Wacom denied to support me after they realized that I have Lenovo Active Pen 2, so you can see "Lenovo" in the title, not Wacom, that's why it's not a Wacom's problem. Not really clear situation, after all drivers have been downloaded from Wacom site and they are developed by Wacom. Then I went to Lenovo support. I managed to communicate to USA Lenovo support, and they redirected me to my local Lenovo representatives (not USA ones) because of the laptop warranty location. How the laptop warranty is linked to Wacom driver bug? After that destructive finger pointing, I came here. Perhaps, could you suggest me any reasonable way to report a driver issue? P.S.: For now I found older driver 7.5.1.21 in my local PC, as I stated in the "part 1" above, and it works as it is supposed to work, only disadvantage - current Lenovo Pen Settings app doesn't show a nice UI, but still pen works via Windows native support of stylus.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Are you, like me, starting to get annoyed with the active pen not responding. Then when you go to the wacom driver settings you get the error message "The Tablet driver is not running". Forcing you to restart the machine or the service? This is a normal problem that pisses a lot of users of wacom products in general. And i found this happens alot, specially if you have several wacom products like i have a Cintiq connected to my X1 yoga.  Well surprisingly there is a really easy fix for this.  It's windows 10 stopping the service after it wakes up from sleep. To fix it just tell windows to try harder to keep it running. ? Run "services" and find the wacom services. The service you looking for on a X1 Yoga is Wacom ISD service or/and the Wacom Professional Service if you have an additional wacom device like the Cintiq connected.Right click the service and go to properties.Go to the tab recovery and set the optional fail response on first and second failure to "restart the service".there is also someone reporting that they have to set their startup type to manual. But for me it works fine in automatic. Here is a video from ma'boy MichaelLawLtd that explains how, i give him all credit for this solution:  I set it to restart on second and third attempt and have never had an issue since.

But this solution works for me only few times. So please anybody say what this really means? What happens to PC if we do this? Why Are they posting this same solution for most problems?

Is there a way to change how the power button works? In order to turn on my laptop, I have to long-press the power button for about 2 seconds instead of just a quick press like normal. It's really annoying.
The laptop I'm using is a Latitude 7275, but I also have several Latitude 5175 laptops at work that do the exact same thing.

Apps such as facebook that allow you to long-press a "like" link which pops up "like, love, wow, sad and hate" icons do not work with the touch screen. You can use the touch pad for those but not the touchscreen. Kind of ridiculous since dell has had this functionality for years. I contacted support who gave me the typical runaround about installing windows updates, running the lenovo advantage system update, yada-yada. Which of course made absolutely no difference. Do they even test this stuff??? Does anyone know a solution? Does it work with a pen? (i don't have a pen yet)

I tried to deactivate the long-press feature on my Thinkpad Yoga 370 for the pen.It just didn't work (Even when I manually changed the setting in the registry.)After some time of trying different stuff I finally figured out that I can deactivate the right-click on long press in the "Pen and Touch" settings found in the Control Panel. However:Only the settings in the "Touch" Tab actually get applied; for both pen and touch! The settings on the "Pen Options" Tab don't have any effect on anyting. I would like to configure my system to allow long-press for right click for touch input but not for the pen input. Is there a way to do this (maybe through manual registry configuration)or is this a driver bug?(Should it be the latter; would you mind fixing it @lenovo?)

We have all the drivers installed so I'm not sure what else is needed. It's the same on all computers so it's not a hardware issue.

When I press the printscreen button then go to "run" and type in "clipbrd" i can see the screen dump of what I've saved. How do I save this as a file that I can manage ? My copy button stays grey and won't let me save the screen picture for editing. I know this can be done but have forgotten how - can you help anyone please ?

A:Use of printscreen button

You need to use image editing software. Once you have copied the pic to the board, open something like fireworks or photoshop and click on new image... It should automatically give you the dimensions of the image in your clipboard so just click OK. You then simply have to save the pic.

If you don't have such software, then you can easily use paint. Start>Programs>Accessories>Paint Edit>Paste. Then save.

Hello everyone (and Happy Thanksgiving!),Two days ago, I got the antivirus action virus; I followed the steps on this site to remove it via malwarebytes--and successfully did. Woke up today, however, and the computer began acting strange--Java started all of the sudden (Since this was when Antivirus Action initially started, I rushed to end the process, but no use), then I instantly began running malwarebytes again. It discovered three infected files; two fake alert definitions, and one other trojan (really hitting myself in the head for not writing down exact names). Malwarebytes was running extremely slow for some reason, and my computer was behaving radically. I'm running XP Home - SP3, and the screen froze for a second, and then went to the classic 98 or older era windows template--then went back. Then it did it again a half hour later and remained in that state. Before I started scanning with malwarebytes, I received a Win32 HOST process failure notification (where it asks to choose to send error info to Microsoft or not). After Malwarebytes finished scanning, it said it needed to reboot to delete certain files. So I did. Here is where I ran into the BSOD. I chose safe mode, with/without networking, last known configuration, and boot normally--to no avail. I disabled automatic restart on error, and the BSOD posted: *** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xB84C7524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)Also, when booting in Safe Mode, the system hangs on "MDFSYSNT.sys." Many people have problems with wacom tablets and Win 7, l had. (Win 7-64 bit/ Wacom Intous 3)

(Problem 1)
I've lost the driver after restart,
(Problem 2)
got really annoyed with the cursor rings
(Problem 3)
and experienced slow pen action.

Working for severeral days with these issues, uninstalling, reinstalling, deleting preferenses for the wacom intous 3 tablet, delaying the wacom driver load... and so on.., did not help that much. Nothing I tried worked out completely perfect. Therefore I made a decision to follow the procedure below, - to solve all of the problems mentioned, and it's working!

I write this to hopefully spare some people the unnecessary time and frustrations with these problems.
Win 7 are equipped with software for Tablets PC's, which's interferring/messing up the wacom tablet driver.
(The lost driver)
I was thinking; do I need the Tablet PC in Win 7? Answer: No! I have a Notebook.
But it didn`t work out just to disable the Tablet PC in "Computer management, Services." (Right click on My Computer, Manage, Services And Applications, Services)

The Procedure / Solution
is drastic and pretty time consuming, but for me absolute necessary for a permanent fix.
I saved all my settings and files, reformatted and reinstalled win7 and all the programs.

I followed this algoritm:

Reinstalled Win7
First: I did not plug in the wacom tablet, and did not install the wacom drivers at this point.

I was doing some tech support for my mom regarding screen captures and discovered the print screen key (and eventually the F12 key as well) is not working, on an otherwise fully functional keyboard.  The laptop in question is a Yoga13 running Windows 8.1 (Yes, it survived the forced Windows 10 update era) It will be needed tomorrow, so I didn't want to do anything drastic just yet; I've rebooted the computer and cleaned the keyboard as much as possible (those chiclet style keys don't pop off the way old style keys did, so cleaning under them is problematic).  No effect. I've found workarounds for all of the features assigned to these keys - the onscreen keyboard handles the normal F12 and PrintScreen functions, and Power Options allows for brightness adjustments independent of the F12's special function (which is good, because I cranked the brightness way down testing the keyboard - F11 works just fine), but we'd rather not have to deal with these solutions long term. We had the keyboard replaced at a reputable computer repair shop a while back - I'll be getting in touch with the proprietor there tomorrow, and I've already made a post on TechSupportForum.  I'll keep you posted on what I try based on their advice.

Hi every one,
Recently I purchased new PC,
After installing windows XP Pro SP3 I found that there is a missing button in Power option properties. The missing button is (When I press the sleep button on my computer), I can find only (When I press the power button on my computer).
My system configuration is as follow
Mother board Gigabyte EP45-UD3R Rev 1.1
My graphic card is ATI Radeon HD 5670
Windows XP SP3
RAM 4Gb Kingston DDRII
CPU Core 2 Quad 2.66 GHz
It worth saying that I can shutdown, hibernate or put my PC into sleep mode, so the functions are working but only the button is missing.
I will appreciated very much if some can advise me how to restore the missing button. Is there some option in BIOS that will enable this button?
I contacted Gigabyte customer support, but they directed me to Microsoft, I also contacted ATI but they directed me to Microsoft or BIOS settings. In my BIOS I can't find any option that may affect this button. Any advise will be appreciated
Best regards

A:[SOLVED] Button of (When I press sleep button) is not available in my Power option pr

Does the case actually have a separate Sleep Button? I suspect it's not even connected, as the motherboard manual doesn't show a connection for a Sleep Button, only a Power Button.
Windows Power Options won't list it, as it doesn't exist.

If you have a Sleep Button on the keyboard, it might not be listed in Power Options either. That would be up to the Driver software to add that option. You may have to use the software that came with the keyboard to configure the sleep button on the keyboard.

Friend of mine has got problem with his desktop (XP SP2) , when he starts the PC it boots normally till it reaches where it shows windows XP logo then the screen gets blank (i.e he can not see the login name for users).

What he used to do: is press the sleep button on the wireless keyboard, then after that press the hardware switch on/off button (not the reset button) on the tower of the hard box.

After pressing switch on/off button, he gets directly (pay attention to this) to the login screen where he can see the usernames for all users.

He has to do this procedure every time he would like to boot the desktop

Hey so I've been having major problems with my windows 10 desktop

Basically, my story starts off with a sudden crash caused by (I think) an overheating gpu whilst playing a casual game of civilisation V.
My desktop is an ACER AME600-EB398 supporting some no-name motherboard (acer inc. ipimb-ar), an Intel i7 3770 which is pretty good, a measely 300W of continuous power, a 2TB hard drive, a 16Gb SSD containing only Windows 10, an optical drive and a Nvidia GT630.

The crash lead to a blue screen with an error code 0xc000014c which I was able to fix, with massive difficulty, thanks to a boot drive that I create using the laptop I am currently using. The reason why I did not simply use a Windows recovery disk is because windows 8 came preinstalled on my computer, and of course I did not have a windows 10 cd. After repairing the blue screen and entering my computer, there were some major problems such as my inability to open the windows search or the inability to open certain apps. I was then doing some research on how to repair the problems when an error message popped up saying "Windows detected a hard dive problem", I then concluded that, based off of the blue screen crash, the instruction page given to me by Windows accompanying the error message (which I will add below), and the newly found difficulties, windows (and thus my SSD containing windows) was severely corrupted.

I then decided to try and repair the SSD with the aid of the internet, suggesting tha... Read more

My brand new Yoga X1 2nd gen has a faulty pen/stylus. When I tried to use it first did not react to touch at all. Then I enhanced sensitivity to softest and it started working, albeit only at certain orientations of the pen. This means it works only if the pen is at 45deg or less to the screen and only facing one side. This is very annoying since it keeps interrupting when drawing. Any idea what I should do? It really seems like the pressure sensor in the pen is not working properly.

I am curious if there is a list of which models of Yoga or X1 Yoga use Wacom EMR vs Active ES tech. I am pretty sure the original S1 Yoga and Yoga 12 use EMR but X1 Yoga uses AES I think but I am not sure all three generations do. Just trying to determine compatibility of stylus across the generations like Yoga 260, 370 and X380. The spec sheets for ThinkPad Pen Pro (4X80H34887) and Lenovo Active Pen (GX80K32882) seem to be incomplete in models supported. Then I also want to know which models the Wacom Bamboo Ink works with. I know wacom has a compatibility list but again I think it is incomplete. Thanks for any details on verification.

Can you please post the full model number of your TP Yoga 14? are you using Windows 10 (64bits)?

I have tried my TP Y 14 with a Wacom Bamboo and I have no problem using both, the touchscreen with the Thinkpad Pen Pro and the Wacom Bamboo with his own pen.
Maybe what we can do first is try to update the Wacom drivers of your Thinkpad Yoga from the Lenovo support site of you model.

But when I push on the left, I notice its a bit tougher and if you were to hear it, sounds like the key is touching against another key but its not. It just seems not as smooth. What can I do to make my left side push as smoothly as the right? Im thinking maybe it just needs some buttering up on the left side, maybe just a little dry. But how do you go about popping off a laptop space bar without breaking it. Is there any springs in voled.

When I opened it again, both touchscreen and pen were not working. Maybe that happened after some Vantage autoupdates while computer was awake. I didn't have time to deal with this problem then, and some more updates came,  but they didn't solve the problem.(actually thanks to BIOS update I now also have a slow charging bug, but lenovo says it will be fixed soon). I cant see any Wacom or touchscreen devices in Device Manager under HID category. When I open Lenovo Pen Settings app, it says "This app requires Wacom Pen driver to be installed" and gives a link to appropriate driver.I tried installing it, the error came "the supported tablet was not found on the system".Wacom touch firmware package also can't install because "Target device not found", and in Windows settings it shows "no pen or touch inut availible for this display".So driver installation didn't work. It doesn't look like a hardware problem since i barely moved the laptop that day and it never fell or crushed. Please help me out, I hope that full rollback is not the only option left! ThinkPad L380 YogaProduct number: 20M7001BRTCurrent BIOS: R0RET36W 1.19Current Windows: 1809 build 17763.475

So I did some searching to find a compatible pen and everyone seems to be saying the Wacom Bamboo Smart 2-in-1 pen. Unfortunately, it appears that this particular pen is not available in Hong Kong either. Does anyone have any insight into other possibly compatible pens? Best case scenario ones that are available in Hong Kong... I would really like to do some digital art. Thanks for any help. Cheers!

Lenovo support site currently has version 7.3.4.25 of the Tablet driver. Windows Update seems to be pushing this same version out. The Lenovo installer says installation failed. It does not provide any other reason. Windows Update has tried to install this daily for the last few days for me, without success, and always reporting an error code. Among others, Error 0x800f0234. While not being able to update the driver is usually not a problem, this process has completely broken the pen and touch functionality of the X1 Yoga. Neither works. Device is recognized as an unknown device. Driver updates do not work, and there is no driver rollback option available. Removing the device and having it detected again does not solve the problem. I found a direct link to Wacom drivers here in the forums in another topic. I downloaded tablet driver 7.3.4.28, which installed correctly and is now working again. Wacom drivers: http://us.wacom.com/en/feeldriver/ (I picked up the link in the following post: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/Thinkpad-X1-Yoga-Battery/m-p/3615803)

Hello all, If I connect my X1 Yoga to an external monitor, can I either make the external monitor mirror the built-in monitor and keep the built-in monitor's touch capabilities, or alternatively only display on the external but still use the touch abilities of the built-in monitor to control things as if it were a tablet?   Basically, I'm interested in knowing if it's possible to use my touch screen and the fancy pen even if I'm working on something on an external display.  Any tips about the best way to do this, and/or the differences between HDMI/Display Port/Dock etc. are welcome.  Thanks!!
