ie8 text and text input fields problem

Q: ie8 text and text input fields problem

I am running genuine windows xp sp3. Installed ie8 a few days ago but this morning most of my text input fields have shrunk to an extremely small size and the text itself is about as big as a pixel. I cant see what I am typing. Some sites are OK and others are not.
Has anyone experienced this or can offer any suggestions.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I don't know and it may sounds strange but lately I encounter problems importing greek text in internet explorer's text fields.
For example when I import text in google's search bar in english I have no problem. But when I import a greek word (in Greek Google or English google) I see chinese (^&#@) characters. Therefore I cannot search anything in Greek.
I have the same problems filling forms in Greek.
I can write Greek in all other microsoft programs (word, excel, outlook express).
I forgot to mention I run IE6 on win2000

I think I have narrowed it down to on mouse movement that text input fields fill with %E?;E?+E? or %%E; or different variations of those characters followed by ENTER... I think!?!?
I removed all other languages from the keyboard settings in windows, and turned off the hotkeys for switching languages, this didn't help.
The next step was to swap out the Logitech keyboard/mouse combo with a ps2 keyboard and usb mouse and uninstalled logitech's setpoint software thinking that might be the problem.
It wasn't.
Not sure what steps to take next.
BTW, it doesn't matter what program is open...

Thanks for any help

A:On mouse movement text input fields auto fill with %E?;E?+E?

Maybe take a look in device manager to see if any of Logitech's drivers are still in use, if it is, uninstall them.

I enabled PC Tablet Support in the windows features section of windows 7, but i still can't get windows to pop up that on screen keyboard icon that usually displays next to any type of data input fields.

My windows is NOT installed on a tablet pc, but i recently connected a touch screen to my desktop and am hoping to get the same sort of functionality like my tablet edition of xp had.

Anyone know how to make that shortcut icon appear again?

For instance, if I highlight a word in a text-entry field, it's a very bright blue. This is also true in Firefox, Thunderbird, Word, OneNote, various fora, etc. but not in Excel.

Prior to installing Windows 10, the highlight in a text-entry field was either pale grey (on dark backgrounds) or darker grey (on light backgrounds), which is what I'd like to have back.

Any ideas?

A:Would like to change the text highlight color in text-entry fields

Are you talking about doing this, but with gray and not red?

Open up Notepadcopy the registry settings in the code box(left click 3 times slowly)Paste into NotePadYou will need to find the RGB values(if the ones I have supplied are not what you want) for the color you want, and change them.Create a registry file by saving(to Desktop or Documents) as TextColor.regDouble click the reg file.Sign out, sign in and your finished.To change the values just right click the file and choose edit, make the changes, save, close and see point #6

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Colors]
"Hilight"="192 192 192"
"MenuHilight"="192 192 192"
Light Gray RGB=192 192 192
Darker Gray RGB= 105 105 105

Here is the reg file in case you have problems doing it yourself, using light gray: GrayHighlights.zip

I'm having some very wierd problems...
For certain app's (mainly all microsoft) I can't enter text into certain areas. For example, I opened IE and wanted to search something using google, but I can't enter any text into the Google search box!

I realised that I also can't enter text into windows messenger to login (email address and password). So its more of a problem than just IE. Its actually a windows problem - must be something wrong with the windows system.
I don't have a clue what the difference is with the input box on a web form and the address bar in the browser (as the address bar works fine, I can enter a URL no problems, I just can't enter stuff into forums and google etc....)

Greetings! I've searched everywhere for the answer to this issue. It must be common, but I can't find it anywhere. I'm using MS Word 2007, but the problem was the same in 2003. I sometimes get a text box that is behind regular text. I need to move it. One normally just selects a text box and drags, or cut and paste, it where one wants. However, when it is behind text, it can't be selected. I have found no way to select normal text and "send it behind."

How do I get to this text box that is behind my regular text? I've been told to "move the regular text out of the way, then you will be able to get to your text box." But the text box moves with text!

Hey all

Searched the WWW for an answer and I have only found one thread even remotely close to this issue.
Basically, every input field is reverse contrast. Black background typing white. Microsoft Word, Excel, IE, File Explorer, Google Chrome. Anywhere requiring selection of icons or input of text... The contrast is reversed. (four screenshots attached) Minor major annoyance, but it came accompanied by a more consistently running fan and then the computer began to freeze intermittently. I ran Malwarebytes. I ran Norton. I adjusted so Windows did not pick display prefs auto, then back again. I booted in Safe Mode, issue still there. Re-installed all sorts of drivers, repaired Windows, etc. I system restored. Issue still there. I system refreshed, Issue still there...

I literally have no programs on my computer right now except the basic out of the box Windows 8 apps...and still the issue persists.

Any ideas? I appreciate any input

Earlier I was playing an online game (Final Fantasy XI) when my screen began to behave strangely. I logged out, and then noticed that a TextPad window I had open began to fill with "+++++++++++++++++++++++" as though the plus key was stuck. I checked my keyboard (Logitech wireless LX710) and didn't see any obvious issues.

None the less, I shut-down the computer, swapped keyboards with my other PC and booted up again. The problem did not follow the keyboard, it remained on my first PC.
I tried a corder USB keyboard, and it does the same thing. Initially I can sometimes login because the "+++++++++++++" begins - but it is hit and miss. I generally need to reboot 2-3 times before I can login.

I have removed the Logitech software and installed the latest edition.

I have run McAffee and Spyware Doctor, but nothing was found.

Does this sound like any Virus, Trojan or Worm anyone has run across?

A:Virus? Text fields fill with +++++++++++

Meh... it was mouse-related.

After much swapping of gear, several virus scans, and copying a ton of data from the "bad" PC to my other PC (just in case), I tracked the issue down to my Logitech MX700 mouse.

I had swapped-in a corder mouse earlier, but apparently I was too hasty in eliminating the mouse as the issue.

Now I am back up a running, with my cordless keyboard - no issues. Just using a vanilla Dell corded mouse for the time being, until I can determine if the MX700 is salvageable.

I am running Windows XP Home and IE6.

For the last couple of weeks I have noticed that whenever I place my cursor in the text field in a form, words start typing by themselves if I hesitate to fill in trhe field. 95% of the time, the word "if" is being typed repeatedly.

I have scanned my hard drive for viruses, trojans, etc. I have also run Ad-Aware for any spy software. My machine is clean.

Any suggestions?

In an existing database, there are fields that have text I would like to separate (like first name and last name both in same field). Can this be done and how?

Thanks for your help!

A:Access - Can you separate text in fields?

Yes. You should probably start by reading up in Access help on the following functions:
InStr: Looks for a specific character, and returns its position in the string (data in text fields is called string data
Left([FldNm], x): Returns the leftmost x characters from a string
Right([FldNm], x): Returns the rightmost x characters from a string
Mid: Used to return part of a string, beginning from a midpoint, continuing a certain number of characters or to the string's end.

Access Help will explain to you how each one works in more detail. Basically, you test a field for a space using InStr; InStr will return 0 if it doesn't find one, or a position number if it does. If my name is "Joe Kool", for example, InStr will return 4. You then use Left() and Right() or Mid() to separate out the strings.

Let us know what more we can explain.

I have an Access database where the data is being input in Access and displayed by Lotus Notes. Originally I had a number of Yes/No fields e.g. "Outside Storage" in the table. The person doing the Notes interface requested that I change these to Text fields which I did. The table values remained as Yes or No when I did this. The input forms kept their check boxes when I did this but as one enters data via the checkboxes the values are 0 and -1. If I delete the field from the form and add it again it comes as a text box which then displays Yes or -1, etc depending what is in the table.
The Notes person says data tables should not contain Yes/No fields or Combo Boxes like solid/liquid. My question is what is the best way to handle this assuming the Notes developer wants text fields in the table? Should I delete all the checkboxes from the forms and replace with text boxes showing Yes or No? Right now I have the validation of the table set to accept yes, no, 0 or -1. Finally, is the field on the form able to be changed back to a checkbox without changing the table field back to a Yes/No field? It seems as if the type of field placed on the form is inherited from the table.

I have an Access database to manage inspection checklists. I use the question references to sort the checklists so that the questions appear in the same order as the books they come from. I use two fields for this, one for the book, a second for the paragraph. The paragraphs in the book are numbered, with subsecitons and sub-sub sections, ex: Of course, Access doesn't sort these as numbers - so any reference that has a 10 in it is sorted before 2. I used the following code to break the references into separate digits: (only the fifth place is shown here, but the rest are similar)

Part V: Val(Mid([Ref2],InStr(InStr(InStr(InStr(1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")+1,InStr(InStr(InStr(InStr(InStr(1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")-InStr(InStr(InStr(InStr(1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")-1))

The problem is, if a reference has less than 5 sections (say 14.6), the third through fifth colums read "#Error". This makes it impossible to sort, giving an "Invalid procedure call" error.

Is there a way to either assign a zero to the "#Error" cells, or to make a sort ignore them? I'm not extremely proficient with Access, but am learning as I go.

First, I apologize for this post being so long.

I'm running windows XP w/Service Pack 3 and all critical updates.
I'm having a strange problem with text files.
The text I enter into the file gets mysteriously rearranged.

I was making a numbered list in notepad.

Like this (just as an example):
1. Text on the first line.

2. Text on the second line.

3. Text on the third line.

4. Text on the fourth line.

5. Text on the fifth line.
Nothing fancy just entering the info manually.
the list was numbered up to line 190.
I went back to look over the list and I noticed that
it was numbered wrong. Some numbers were skipped.
I just figured I misnumbered it but after I fixed the
numbering it kept happening.

I copied and pasted the list from notepad into another text editing
program and it kept happening in the other program too.
So to test it I wrote a few more lines to see if it would mess it
up again.

I wrote 5 more lines in the new program
(numbering here is just an example):
10. Text on the tenth line.

11. Text on the eleventh line.

12. Text on the twelfth line.

13. Text on the thirteenth line.

14. Text on the fourteenth line.
I left notepad open while I looked over to watch something on tv for
a few minutes and when I looked back at the computer the thing had
renumbered itself again. The last two lines had switched places and
were now both numbered the same number.
It looked like this:

10. Text on the tenth line.

11. Text on the Eleventh line.

I am hoping there is someone out there with the "tech-how" to help me solve this problem.

I am pretty new to creating forms and I am not sure how to solve this issue. I recently created a new pdf form from a preexisting form. The original form has a section that reads as follows:

Additional Details: ______________________________________________

When the program creates text fields for this particular section, it invariably creates four text fields- one shorter one after the phrase "Additional Details:" and three others for the three blank lines below.

My question is as follows: How do I make it so that when a person fills in the first line it will then automatically jump to the following line? Is there a way to "link" the four lines together? The way I have it now, the user fills in the first line, then the user must tab to the next, fill that one, tab to the next, and so on. This prevents people from simply typing their answers, which is an unfortunate hinderance.

I tried setting a field up on my own, creating it so that one large field covers the entire area. However, it does not line up properly with the lines that are already there on the page- and it looks awful.

I wish there was some sort of link or merge for these four text fields. Perha... Read more

Recently I was on a popular domain registration site attempting to change an email account name for one of my domains. About three or four keystrokes into the name change, my computer began filling the text with 666's. Hi, All,

I am using Excel 2007 and have a table with 3 columns: StudentID, Test, and Score. StudentID is a number and Test and Score are text values -- score is sometimes a pass/fail and sometimes a number, so this is why this is text.

I use pivot tables all the time for numeric values. Is there a way to do this with text? What I am hoping to do is show StudentID as my row value, Test as my column value, and put the scores in the middle.

Thank you!

Im pretty sure I removed MindSpark completely by using MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpyware, and CCleaner to get rid of it.  I also have McAfee AntiVirus which didnt catch Mindspark.
So the problem now and when the PUP was on my computer is that I cannot enter text into text fields on IE 11.  Right now Im using Google Chrome and am having no issues with it, but I would like to get the IE 11 problem fixed.  Also as a note if I run IE 11 as an administrator it acts normal, but as soon as I close the browser and reopen it, it stops working again.  A couple of things I have done that wound up with no results include:  Restoring Internet options to default, turning off protected mode, and ran a Windows system performance scan.  Also Ive made sure everything on my computer has the latest and greatest updates.
So hopefully somebody here can help me out.

Hi all

My friend is having problems with her Thinkpad. Frequently when entering text into a search or password field the system will freeze. This even happens in the windows Run input field. Does anyone have any suggestions, instructions or know what direction I should be looking to solve this problem?

Her Thinkpad runs winxp sp 3
We have already run Symantec av, spybot, and malwarebytes software. The Laptop had Vnrblock21 and virtumonde according to these programs. The problems have been removed and scans are coming back clean as of today. We have also run disc cleanup and the defrag tools windows provided. We also used CCleaner to clean temp files and the registry.

Any help is appreciated.

A:Computer freezes when inputting text to fields

Have a look in the Event Viewer for any errors at the time of the freezes.To open the Event Viewer go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer. Alternately, go to Start > Run and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter.Check in all the categories.If you find an error that occurred at the time right-click on it and select properties. Copy the information in the window and post it back here. This will help us diagnose your problem.How To Use the Event Viewer

When I've got any kind of dialogue box open with text fields, I use the tab key to hop between the text fields. But, doing this also hops to any pop-up menus, which means I can change the thing in the pop-up menu using the up/down cursor keys, which might possibly be useful in a very few situations, I pretty much never want to do that. Is there a way to turn off this annoying behaviour?

This is a system-wide behaviour - not application specific.

I've searched around and can only find answers referring to alt-tabbing between apps.

A:Make the tab key only select text fields, not menus and other stuff

Hello wizards of bleeping! I'm a worker in an IT department that's experiencing a strange issue on a Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit system. The cursor in text boxes in Internet Explorer (version agnostic) lags behind the text being typed, catching up after a few seconds. It's severe enough that the user of the system finds it difficulty to continue her workflow with the cursor lag in place. We suspect it might have been caused by malware, but every scan that's been run has come up clean. The lag does not occur in any other browser or program, only IE. Here's the log from HijackThis:

I have a legal form to fill out in WORD and it keeps printing the entries in the text fields in blue. The A text color tool is greyed out. How can I make it black again? I seldom use Office so I'm a newbie at this one.

A:can't change text color in WORD document fields

If the form has been designed as a protected Word document "form" (probably that is the case since it is a "legal form") then they may have formatted it in that manner because that is how they want it filled in, with your content in blue?

Hence the options are unavailable for you to change.

Ok I have been struggling on this one all morning.

What I am tring to do is this.

I'm making a simple SELECT query in Access 2007, but I need to only select those records where one of the fields is LIKE the text entered into a text field on a form. Hitting a button next to the text field executes the query.

The problem is that when I "build" the criteria in the query, it doesn't seem to want to work when I throw in the wildcards around the field name. For instance, if I wanted to search for records with a field like "simple" then I'd put stars around simple inside the quotes like this "*simple*". That works perfectly fine. But if I try to make that criteria dynamic based on the text entered into the text entry box, it doesn't want to work: "*[Forms]![SearchForm]![SearchText]*" . It only works if I take out the stars and quotes: [Forms]![SearchForm]![SearchText].

Any help? Maybe I'm just not using the correct syntax?

Note: I know how to get this to work in VBA, but I need it to work in pure SQL without the help of string concatenation.

A:Solved: Access 2007 - Referencing text fields in SQL... possible?

No worries, I found a work around that doesn't involve anything dealing with this question. Answer it if you wish, but the only reason it's still listed here is because I can't figure out how to delete it.

I'm running Word 2007 (Srudent & Home Edition) on my Windows 7 RC box, trying to create a multilevel list that auto-generates text for me, using styles as the control. (Specifically, I'm creating a multilevel list for outlining books of the New Testament.)

Thus far I've been able to carry through the list such that chapter numbers carry down into the lower List Levels, but I can't figure out how to have the text carry through. Here's a summary of the text, with styles in curly brackets:
BOOK {Book}
List Level 1 {Chapter}
List Level 2 {Section}
List Level 3 {Quotation}
Level 2
Level 3
Level 1
Level 2
Level 1
Level 2(etc)
Click to expand...

Here's an example of what that looks like, with bold text auto-generated by the multilevel list:
ACTS {Book}
Chapter 1 {Chapter... Level 1}
Acts 1:1-10 Promise of the Holy Spirit {Section... Level 2}
"I'll send a counselor..." {Quotation... Level 3}
Acts 1:11-12 Something or other {Level 2}
"Play nice with your friends." {Level 3}
Chapter 2 {Level 1}
Acts 2:1-19 More stuff (etc) {Level 2}
Chapter 1 {Level 1}
Acts 1:1-8 Paul's Introduction {Level 2}
Click to expand...

As you can see, I have the Book reference in Level 2 fixed on "Acts [Level1 #]:" which is all fine and dandy until I reach the next book (Romans). I found that the {STYLEREF Book} field did exactly what I wanted (reference the most recent text using the "Book" style), b... Read more

Hi, I am wondering if anyone can help with this problem... I am getting intermittent blacked out areas in various text fields. This seems to happen in many different programs, for example sometimes Windows Excel all the fields are blacked out, other times it happens in Windows pop up information windows, plus other programs too. It seems pretty random and tends to go away after a restart. Sometimes it's the occasional field, other times it's a lot. When it happens some fields are competely black, others it is possible to see some text in. I am running Windows 10 64-bit on a new HP Envy. Any help appreciated Cheers
