Solved: Playing musicmatch licensed songs in windows media player 11?

Q: Solved: Playing musicmatch licensed songs in windows media player 11?

I just downloaded windows media player 11 today. My computer uses Windows XP professional.
When I try to play songs that I got through musicmatch (now yahoo! music jukebox) it says:
license acquisition failed! unspecified error!

i can play the songs fine in the Yahoo! music jukebox player.

I could play them o.k. in the old WMP because musicmatch was one of the online stores. musicmatch is no longer one of the online stores in the new WMP 11.

Any suggestions on how to play the musicmatch songs in WMP 11? I like to use WMP 11 to listen to songs and sync them to my iRiver.

Thanks,
Mike

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I burned a disk of various songs with Windows Media Player, and then removed the songs from the computer. I would now like to put those songs BACK on my computer (using Windows Media Player) so I could put some on my mp3 player. However, when I open Windows Media Player and put the disk in the drive, I am not given the option to rip the songs. That option just doesn't appear. Oddly enough, a list of the songs on the disk appears on the right in the "list" area so the disk is being read. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I deleted the old Musicmatch player from my PC (Dell dimension/XP home sysop) and there's still approximently 16.88MB left after the deletion. apparently Dell installed the old MM player at factory and it works conjunctively with Windows Media Player 11 under the moniker of "Musicmatch for Windows Media Player" (16.88MB).

if I try to delete this extra 16.88MB, I get the following prompt:
“Are you sure that you want to completely remove Musicmatch® for Windows Media® Player and all of it's features? Continuing will close Windows Media® Player.”

I like the WMP & this sounds somewhat ominous. is it safe?
any help/info would be great. thanks in advance.

A:MusicMatch/Windows Media Player

Hi, welcome to TSG.

Musicmatch for Windows Media Player was a used to purchase song tracks from Musicmatch through Windows Media Player and since Musicmatch is now out of business it's not going to work anyway.

So yes, it's safe to uninstall Musicmatch for Windows Media Player.

I installed MusicMatch on my computer. However, now whenever I click a file that would ordinarily play on my Windows Media Player, MusicMatch pops up on my screen and the mpeg plays on a player about the size of a postage stamp at the top center of the MusicMatch player instead of the regular Windows Media Player. How do I override this apparent default to MusicMatch and get back my good old regular size Windows Media Player????

A:MusicMatch/Windows Media Player

highlight one of the files with the cursor over it, hold down the shift key and right click, this will give you the open with option, select it, scroll through the list until you find wmplayer, select it, try it, if it works do the same thing except check the box at the bottom to make if default.

Just recently, I have been unable to use Musicmatch and Sonic RecordNow with my CD-RW drive. Even when there's a CD in the drive, Musicmatch would say it is empty. RecordNow is even stranger, not only does it not see the CD but also shows that it is a DVD-RAM drive. However, I can see the CD using Windows Explorer and Windows Media Player.

The last thing I did before the problem started was buy and download some music files from puretracks.com. It did ask me to run some DRM software which works with Windows Media Player. As much as I don't want to be too hasty in pointing the blame, that DRM software looks pretty guilty to me.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have been able to download and play music through musicmatch up through the end of May. The last month when I try to download music I get a error message: "An eror occurred while trying to license your Musicmatch download. The Musicmatch License Server cannot process the request." I can play music in my library from CDs that I have copied. When I try to play music that I downloaded (and was able to play successfully before) it plays for 28 seconds then I get "error c00d271d". I have had Norton try to help me bhinking it was a problem with my internet security and antivisus but apparently it is not. SI don't think it's a problem with Musicmatch because we have it on our laptop and there is no problem. When I try to play the downloads on Window Media Player 10 I get an orange "!" and it won't play at all. I have SP1 and haven't added any new programs. I've gone in and tried to adjust various settings (I've probably messed some other things up.)

Well folks, not sure what I did, but I managed to duplicate all the songs in my Windows 7 Media Player. I have a three week old laptop with Windows 7; really struggling with file management and layout in "libraries", that is, easily accessing my music, some guitar software files, etc.; somehow I installed my music folder onto the WMP again . Anyone know how I can reverse this situation, so I don't have to go through every album and delete? Also, I have "test deleted" a couple of songs from the WMP library, and they are also deleted from the original file. I have selected "delete from library only" from the manage menu, but they appear to have disappeared completely. Baby steps please, as Windows 7 has me really spooked... I miss XP! Thanks to all in advance.

A:duplicate songs in Windows 7 Media Player

Thanks for your suggestion! I did find the problem, I had a duplicate music folder (all my songs) within the original music folder containing all my songs. Once I deleted the original file, the duplicate songs in the library disappeared. I suspect I may have inadvertently dragged it in there, as I have a very sensitive touch pad, and I am still getting used to it (always been a mouse guy). Have been using the tutorials on the Microsoft site, and that has also been helpful. Thanks again for trying to help!

This subject was discussed starting in October of 2010 between danfordan and longhair but it didn't seem to come to a conclusion. The original writer said he was having trouble using CD-RW's. I am having trouble using regular cd-r's. My system numbers are listed below. The first time I used the Windows Media Player to make a CD everything went great. I loaded the CD, dragged the four files containg 25 songs in each and made a great data cd with 100 oldies. When I tried to do it again a few days later to make a copy for a friend, the files were burned in the following order.....1,2,3,4,1,2,4,3 and I had 200 songs on the CD, 100 songs TWICE! Thinking this was a fluke, I tried it again using a different file. I used 279 different oldies totalling 660 mb's. When I burned it, all songs came up twice again. First of all, why is it burning twice and secondly, how does 660 mb's burn twice on a 700 mb cd-r???
Thanks, Bobbyob

So how can my ipod songs be labeled and organized(like they are itunes) in order play them on the Windows Media Player?

First, make sure that the list of songs is focused by selecting a single song. Then press Ctrl+A to select all songs in the list. WMP should then briefly show the total song count and duration in the lower right corner.Tim De Baets

I purchased a new Cowon S9 Portable Media Player, and the software provided for me to update it with new music (which was JetAudio) will not correctly play MP3 files that have been burnt onto the system from a CD. The CD's are obviously legit and will play perfectly in iTunes and work on an iPod no problem. But the case is for JetAudio and Windows Media Player the files do not even show up in the player library and if dragged and dropped straight into the file path of the Cowon MP3 player's memory, this has the same result and no mp3 files will show. Does anyone know why this may be?

Hi all - Windows Media Player 12 - Windows 7 x64

So I have decided to delete several un-listened-to songs from my library on WMP 12, and ended up doing so in the Music folder, because when I right-click on the song in WMP 12 and select Delete, nothing happens. Literally NOTHING - no lag, freeze or crash -
it just ignores the fact that I even clicked delete. The songs that I deleted from the Music folder have not been updated, that is, they aren't gone from WMP 12, and I have tried to delete songs that ARE in my Music folder from WMP 12, but to no avail. I can
still play songs that are in my Music folder directly from WMP 12. Any suggestions!?

Hi,

Based on my research, .m4p files are also not supported by Windows Media Player.

However, if you would like to play these music in Windows Media Player, you may use certain applications to convert the files to .mp3 and check if it works.

Hope this helps.

I d/l some songs that were playing just fine on WMP for a while until I tried to install Yahoo Music Engine. YME didn't completely install because it encountered some sort of problem. Now when I try to play them on WMP, it says it needs a security update, but then encounters error code 800C2F78. The Microsoft Web site only says it's investigating the problem, it's not on it's list of common error codes. We're talking about a lot of songs that I paid a buck apiece for. The songs that I ripped from CDs play just fine, it's only the ones I d/l.

Hello.

I've got all my music in an external drive.
When i configured bakups i selected that same external drive as destination to back up to.

Now, i added the music from that drive to windows media player and now, when the computer backs up, i've got this error telling me some files were omitted (namely all the music) because they're on the same drive as the backup's destination.

I'm going to use WMP because it's already there (regardless of there being a million better choices of media players/managers) so don't bother suggesting otherwise.

My question is: is there any special folder i should avoid backing up so this error doesn't happen? (like the one that contains WMP database)

More info:
Event type: Warning
Source: Windows backup
Event ID: 4106

Thanks for your help =)

Edit: The backup's error window gave me a link to more information; it's actually the log file but it's in Spanish and while i'm not sure it would help, i'm sure it wouldn't hurt.

Quote:
Copias de seguridad omiti? la copia de seguridad de Z:\Musiquita\ porque no se encuentra en el destino de copia de seguridad.

A:Error when backing up with windows media player songs in backup drive.

Windows won't let you backup files on the destination disk to the destination disk. It ain't gonna happen. Change the location of your music files or the disk you're using for backup. It's not good to use a backup disk for anything else anyway. The disk itself becomes less reliable because a write fault could destroy your backup. What's the point of having a backup if you're not using it as a backup?

I have Windows Vista Home Premium on a six month old Dell Notebook fairly well upgraded. All works well, but Windows Media Player does the strangest thing. When a song plays it skips or breaks up for a second or two in exactly the same spot with about 10 to 15 seconds to go in the song. And it does it song after song in exactly the same place....about 10 or 15 seconds from the end of the song.

I have tried emptying the music folder and restoring the songs. I turned off my spyware and virus programs. These same songs will play fine in Limewire library and playlists.

When the breakup starts I notice the CPU meter jumps from about 7% to 40 or 45% quickly. Is something interferring and if so what or is it the Media Player. Seems strange it is always in the exact same spot.

I think this is a problem since I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 but can't be sure. Basically if I put a music CD into my laptop drive, Windows Media player 12 not only doesn't automatically play it but when I open Windows Media no CD is recognised in the drive. But if I click on Windows Explorer the songs are shown (although won't play with WM). But they play with RealPlayer. This is clearly a WM problem then... all other CD/DVD functions are working, just not WM.

I followed the instructions below (from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982116#nextsteps) and deleted two files from the registry as instructed but this made no difference. Recently I re-installed XP(probably didn't have to, but that's another story). I finally got my internet connection back and have re-installed my audio files. When I tried to start Musicmatch, I would be prompted that currently there was no music folder. After I "clicked' yes to that, the MM music would come up for a second or 2, as would the MM logo, then everything just quit and nothing. I finally uninstalled MM and re-downloaded it. Now when I try to start it, I get nothing.

I can run my music on Win Media Player, but can't run an entire song without a prompt that Media Player has experienced a problem(of course, when you click that promt, MMP disappears). It also won't play MS format music files.

I also can't get Real One to come up - after about 5 seconds of booting up, I get a prompt that it's encountered an error.

I also can't get Quick Time to come up...I get an "error 2093 message - make sure it's installed in your system."

Again, everything ran fine before reinstalling WXP(from the D drive?). Is there some common driver or something for all these media programs that I might be missing?

During my clean-up I removed restore points but one from the day before remained, I restored and the media player has reappeared but still will not play all the tracks in my library. I can however play tracks that wont play in media player by going to “my music” (the track then opens and plays in media player even though it has just refused to play in media player) If I then select another track in media player the message “ A number of queued files cannot be played. To find information about the problem, click the Now Playing tab, and then click the icon next to each file in the List pane.” When I click on the blue icon it asks me if I want to delete missing track. I know the all tracks are still on my computer (in my music file) please help me to get my media player going. I am on xp. Thanks in advance

I am having this weird problem for many days now.
Whenever I am trying to play many mp3 files in WMP 11,it show media changing message and cycles through all songs very fast automatically without playing any one of them.I am unable to play more than one song. The WMP freezes sometimes.
I cant even create a playlist,it is constantly moving up and down like lines of programming.I cant really explain it in words.I hope u get the picture.
this is also happening with KMplayer,Media Player Classic,VLC.I am tired of this problem.
This is happening both in Vista and Windows 7 32-bit.

A:All media players flickering and not playing any songs properly!!!

Wow. OK, so let me try to get this straight. You have a dual boot computer that loads either Vista or Windows 7. And then somehow, some days not all that long ago, you suddenly started having this problem and it exists on BOTH operating systems running media players. Is this correct?

Did you load any new software before this started happening? Perhaps installed some new codecs or other software that is related to media playback? Because if you didn't, this is most peculiar. You have two entirely separate operating systems suffering the same issue. The only other thing I can think of is that you managed to get a virus on your computer that is affecting both operating systems. Are they on one partition or separate partitions?

I downloaded some mp3s and in Nero I burnt them to CD. The problem is they ended up on the CD without names or any meta data. I ripped them into my library with Windows Media player 10. Of course they were listed as unknown in Media Player. I went into Explorer and changed the album name. But the change didn't show up in Media Player.

I have a couple of questions about this. How can I make the change I made in Explorer show up in Media Player? Can I add information when I rip?

Thanks,

royeo

A:How to change the names of songs Media Player 10

I have used windows media player to sync up with my mp3 player. To change the song title, artist, etc I opened the media player, clicked on library and then right clicked on the song and selected edit. At that point, you can edit any information for that song.

I want to extract a large number of songs from one of my Windows media Player playlists. Of course the songs are in a wma format, and I want to burn them onto a CD that my portable cd/mp3/wma player can read.

Does anyone know how to Extract the songs themselves? I have tried playing around in explorer and stuff but for the life of me, I can't figure it out.

The playlist contains certain songs from a ton of different albums, and I don't have the time to go and pick them individually out of each album to burn.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

let me be a bit more specific. i have a 56" tv hooked up to my computer in a room with lots of lights etc... thats not the point. we host large dance parties and what i have done in the past is played music videos on the tv and then when we switched to a normal song i would have to turn on a visualization in itunes or whatever i was using. what i want to do is this:

1. create a playlist that has all my videos and songs in it shuffled (not hard i can do it in itunes and winamp)

2. (tricky part) i want the player to play music videos and when the program randomly goes to a song i want the video to switch to a visualization. that way i can setup everything and leave the computer alone all night.

now in winamp i can get it to go from a music video to a song and keep the visualization but not from a song to music video

does anyone know of a player that can do this for me? i hope i explained it correctly.

Are you wanting to burn them to a music CD? Do you just want to copy and move them to another storage device?
