Facebook loading issues on PC browsers

Q: Facebook loading issues on PC browsers

Hi it just started these 2 days when i just cannot access facebook via normal PC browsers. The page wither take ages to load or I get time out error messages, empty responses error page etc. Even if I manage to login, the browser will be trying to load the next page for ages, only to return similar error pages. I am able to access FB from my mobile HP though so it cant be my FB account issue.

I have the same problem when i use a different machine and it happens to my FB account all the time. My family members encounter the same intermittently but not as bad as my case.

There dun seem to be any consistency or pattern on why it happens to some and doesnt though we are all ont he same network. I am suspecting though it is my router settings but am not sure how I can troubleshoot... When I use 3G via hotspot through my mobile HP, I seem to be able to at least login to my facebook account successfully though, loading is slower due to the limited bandwidth..

This is so frustrating...Thanks in advance!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi again folks

My Facebook pages are not displaying or working correctly, in either Firefox or IE. I have downloaded Adobe Flashplayer for 64 bit for both IE and Firefox. The links at the bottom of the newsfeed don't work so I can't scroll any further than the first page. My messages won't open at all, they just 'hang'. People's profiles, including my own only display bits of information/posts and again I can't go past the first page, groups do not load any posts. It's a mess.

Does anyone have any ideas? I've done an online search but no one seems to have the exact issue I do.

Thank you

My issue is this I am having issues loading Facebook, going on 2 days and it is very annoying. I only see My name, under that newsfeed, messages and events.

No this is not on my end I have dsl and the site is not down, Get a blank page, with what I posted I see, I even went from secure browsing and that didn't help. I have cleared cashe, flash cashe and Java and still has this issue. Also no malware or viruses. What can cause this. Also to note it is slow to load yet other sites are fine.

Please help!

Try to use a different web browser other than your usual one and post the result. The intention is to find out if it's just a problem with one particular web browser, which will obviously help in tracing the cause.

Hi all, I'm new to bleepingcomputer, but I'm not new to technology!

I've been having some major issues for a couple of days with web surfing. I primarily use Chrome as my browser with Firefox as backup. When I've run connection tests to see how fast of a connection I have, it's always come up as T1 equivalent. I've never had issues with a slow internet connection before. Pages have been loading either really slow or moderately quick. Sometimes they won't load at all, in that case I refresh and get a quick response. I'm on a wired connection, behind a router, and am connected to the family server. In my efforts to solve this problem, I've dumped the caches of both FireFox and Chrome. It improved Chrome's performance marginally so. I turned to see if the problem was malware (running Avira Antivirus + COMODO firewall for XP), but my machine's clear of any nasty bits.

I've checked the other household PC's as well as my laptop. The wireless connection is currently very fast and no other desktop is experiencing the issues I have. The problem seems to be the worst on my PC. I noted slower load times than normal on the other PC's, but mine is the worst. While my ISP might be the culprit, it wouldn't explain why my PC is being most affected. My question is: what could be slowing down my connection so dramatically and how can I fix it? Any other programs I run load fine, I just can't seem to surf the web at the speed I normally do.

Thanks for reading!

From your description, it doesn't look like your ISP is the culprit.Do you experience same slowness in Chrome and Firefox?See, if same thing happens in Safe Mode with Networking.Also...Close Firefox. Go Start>All Programs>Mozilla Firefox, click on Mozilla Firefox (safe mode). Same thing?

Hi, I'm having trouble loading pages such as facebook, The Escapist, Yahoo answers and upon further research all pages that have some form of login function. It is not a malware problem, it is not a slow internet connection, it is not a registry issue. I've run ASC scans and CCleaner, none of these are on my list of banned sites. There are no viruses on my computer, of this I am sure as the hard drive is two days old and fully protected, or on any of those in the house.

Facebook is particular takes several minutes to load then appears text only. I cannot navigate anywhere around the site from this text only version, nor can I engage in any interactions.

This issue is widespread throughout my household. All other computers in the house (2 PCs on Vista, a laptop on XP and a Mac with the latest... Mac OS thing) have the same issue. I'm at my wit's end.

Please help.

Edit: I should also state that I use Google Chrome, the other PC and Laptop use Firefox and the Mac uses Safari. There is no lack of disparity in search engines.

A:[SOLVED] Issues loading facebook, The Escapist, Yahoo answers...

If it affects all your computers on the network, then there is something wrong with your network, or your ISP. Have you turned off routers and modem, then turn just the modem back on, and after all it's lights have come back on, and stop blinking (this can take up to 10 min) turn your router on. Once it's on, then turn your computer one and try the site. If it's working then continue with each computer, one at a time. If this doesn't help, you need to call your ISP about the issue so that they can see if they have a problem with your modem, or their network.

For some reason my computer don't want to show online applets. I've tried both IE9 and Firefox 14.0.1 but this seems to be a JRE issue as both browsers show the same bahavior. I've tested both class-files and jar-files.

I've googled for any explanation or workaround but I haven't found any. I have no ActiveX filtering on and I can easily download any applet file by writing its URL in the browsers address field. I've even confirmed that the file isn't corrupt when it arrives.
It looks like the java plugin tries to download the file but never get a reply. So it times out and tries to load it again. During this time the typical loading-java-applet-logo shows. But after a few minutes the process stops and the applet area is left blank (white) or with a simple error symbol.
The Java console shows mainly the connecting attempts and ClassNotFoundException for the class requested in the HTML tag.
I've tested <applet>, <object> and <embed> tags. I've tried both sticky and non sticky declarations. With or without Java cache. All with the same result.
However, in few cases I have had an applet loaded and run, after loooong wait. This is why I think it is a network problem.

I've also noticed that others have asked about the same problem. But there has been no solution or explanation.

A:Problems loading applets in browsers. Loading is very slow.

Here is an example of what I'm writing about. I open oracle simple applet example to get the following from the Java console with tracing set to level 5:

last couple of weeks it has been getting increasingly more difficult to connect to facebook - I mainly use internet explorer, but having similar problems with firefox and chrome.
Other PC in house is OK

I can ping / tracert to facebook.com without a problem.

have scenned with MSdefender, Avira, SpybotS+D, SuperantiSypware and MBAM - and everything seems to be ok.

Have also tried clearning cache, flushing DNS, and reinstalling browser (although as other browsers have this problem this was just trying different things).

Can seem to connect to every other website no problem (although saying that I couldn't post in this forum using Internet Explorer).

O/S is Windows 7

Any help would be much appreciated.

Facebook should normally be centered yet it's rendering to the left. Originally this was only happening in firefox, but when i uninstalled/reinstalled firefox, it started happening in all 3 browsers.

and in all 3 browsers, if i zoom one level up or down, it corrects itself, it only happens at the default zoom.

This is my topic at firefox support where i tried to get help. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/qu...#answer-307402

And this is what i've done to try and fix it:

-Cleared cache through all 3 programs.
-cleared offline cache in firefox
-manually removed cache files from computer
-used third party program to clear all cache files from computer
-tested javascript and updated
-tested font size
-removed cookies
-started firefox in safe mode
-checked advanced font settings
-erased firefox profile and made a new one
-erased my antivirus and firewall and tried with none running
-restarted the router 5 times.

So i have tried all of that, and i've had no change. now that it's happening on all 3 browsers this is no longer a firefox issue but a computer issue.

3 other computers in my house do not experience this issue. All 3 are on windows 7, additionally, my 3 android devices (galaxy nexus android 4.0, nexus one, android 2.3, and asus transformer android 3.2) are not experiencing this either.

so now i come here because you guys have been able to help me out before, and i really hope you can now. because this is the dumbest thing i've ever experienced on a computer but it's... Read more

I have tried 2 browsers (Chrome and Internet Explorer). For both, I deleted temp files and cookies. Ran MalawareBytes (no problems identified) and CC Cleaner (no problems). I flushed the DNS cache, logged off computer and rebooted modem (wireless network) to no avail. I'm stumped. Otherwise, laptop seems fine, and I can log into other websites with no problem. I just purchased a new computer (less than 48 hours old) - HP Pavilion p6510 with Athlon 630 Quad-core processor, 4 MB RAM, Windows 7 Home Professional 64 bit. As soon as it was set up I downloaded and installed COMODO Firewall (I turned off Windows 7 built in firewall), AVG(Free) AND Spybot S&D. I then downloaded and installed Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers, JAVA and Adobe FlashPlayer. No other programs have been downloaded or installed as of yet - Those will be added after this small glitch is worked out. My previous computer was a Windows XP machine using Chrome and I had no problems.

When I access SOME apps in Facebook, the buttons needed to operate the apps are non responsive. Some other apps operate fine. As an example I will use Mafia Wars. Chrome will access everything but the collect or update properties section. As soon as the cursor gets near the upgrade button the button disappears (the button should appear when cursoring over a property - instead in shows up when cursor is approximately 2 inches away to the right and disappears when over the property) and and the collect button will not function. Trying Firefox, it will do most everything but it is extremely slow (slower than when using it in XP) and it will not allow the changing of cities. It does work on the properties page but the bank button will not work. Using IE 8 (installed with Windows 7) what can I say it is SLOOOWWW. It will do everything in the app but sometimes freezes w... Since yesterday, whenever I try to go to Facebook, the log-in page is basically a skeleton. By that, I mean nothing is shown except text. The logo is replaced by the phrase "Facebook logo". In other words, everything looks as is if I were running some sort of low-end mobile app.
If I type in my sign-in information, the next page is bare bones, just like the log-in page.
Looking around on google, I see that some comments from people with similar problems, who suggest it is related to  http://fbstatic-a.akamaihd.net
I have no clue. Nothing that I try seems to work to fix it.

I have the same problem with this post, http://forums.techguy.org/web-email/974355-web-pages-not-displaying-properly.html

My attachment is like this. Almost the same as the above post. http://i423.photobucket.com/albums/pp311/kuang26/Facebookcrashed.jpg

Yesterday when I registered as a member from this site to get help, I got this when I click to verify my account. http://i423.photobucket.com/albums/pp311/kuang26/TSGcrashed.jpg

My case goes like this. This facebook crashing-problem occurred around 3 to 4 months earlier. When I 1st encountered the problem, I cleared caches and cookies and browsing history, EVERYTHING to get my facebook layout back to normal. That time, the problem was only on Google Chrome. 2 to 3 weeks later, the problem came back to me. This time, I cleared just cashes and cookies and it is back again. The story keep repeating like this until one day when clearing caches and cookies don't work any more. When I found out clearing the caches and cookies won't help, I uninstall the Google Chrome and downloaded the newest version of it and installed back to my Pc. It is back again when new Chrome is installed. That time, open facebook on other browsers like Firefox and IE is still not a problem.

Later, the new installed chrome starts to give the same problem again. Same thing, clearing caches and cookies won't help. Reinstalling won't help as well. I then have it installed but run the installer again to see if the installer can help ... Read more

Good morning all, it's my first post here so be gentle ;)
Probably about a month ago my wife and I noticed that not all images were loading in facebook, most images do but some don't. My wife always uses IE 11 to browse and I always use Chrome and firefox. The image issue is the same on all three browsers. This is on a Windows 7 Pro system. Facebook looks normal when we look at it on our iPads, iPhone and android phone when they're on our wifi.
I originally had my router/firewall (pfSense) configured to use Google's public DNS servers ( and so I changed them to our ISP's (Shaw) DNS servers so now the router gets the DNS via DHCP. That didn't fix it.
I brought another Windows 7 Pro laptop home from work and it was able to view facebook fine using our wifi. That was using Chrome and Firefox (can't remember what version but most likely the latest as it was last weekend and firefox is set to autoupdate).
Last night I wiped the computer and installed Windows 7 Pro fresh, installed all the windows updates, flash, adobe reader, chrome and the same antivirus (MS Security Essentials). I didn't test but went to bed figuring it was resolved. My wife tried facebook this morning on the computer and said it was still doing the same thing. I fired up Chrome and confirmed that both browsers were still experiencing the same issue.
I fired up a Windows XP virtual machine in virtualbox on this computer and it was able to browse facebook normall... Read more

Hi !
Since about a month, my browsers (I usually use Chrome, but the same problem happens with Firefox or IE) only open Facebook, Gmail and the Google homepage / Google search results. If I try to open another page, it loads for an infinite amount of time, until I close the browser. My laptop is running Windows 8.
I've tried looking up the problem on the internet, and it seems everyone has a different solution. What I've tried so far is pinging different addresses:
ping google.com responds and the webpage loads
ping yahoo.com responds but the webpage doesn't load
ping responds
I've also tried ipconfig /flushdns, to no avail.
Could you please help me ?
Thanks a lot !

I was logged into Facebook when suddenly it logged me out after clicking on a link. FB refused to let me sign back in with Firefox, saying that my computer was infected with malware. Firefox ran increasingly slower after that. I am still able to sign into FB using Chrome, but chrome has also begun to become slower and slower and crash.

Hi there,

Last night, I started having issues with Google Chrome. Main symptom of the problem is that, on first restart, I can connect to Facebook on the Google Chrome fine, but after a few minutes, the encoding of the page seems to be corrupted. It's only affecting Chrome, Edge and Firefox are fine. With it being a single browser only, I'm suspecting some form of malware is responsible for a redirect, I'm just not sure what, so I've come here to see whether you guys can find anything I couldn't. I am willing, as a last resort, to run a complete refresh of the device, and I have a Windows 10 Build 1511 ISO that can be used in such a circumstance, ready to go.

I ran Kaspersky and it found OpenCandy in an installer for CrystalDiskInfo, though that installer hasn't been executed since the last refresh I did so I don't believe that is the culprit for my woes, and the redirect still appears to be happening even after Kaspersky removed it from the system. Otherwise, Kaspersky has found no threats with Rootkit detection or a Full Scan of the system which I left it to do overnight.

Just to note, some of the errors you see in the logs and files relate to the computer having an issue with the motherboard hardware freezing/rebooting intermittently (which needs to be replaced), so apologies for that. It has been an intermittent issue with the machine for a number of years, to do with the power supply.

Thanks in advance for the assistance, I realise you folks are busy. :)

Hi, I have a problem accessing some secure sites requiring a username/ password like hotmail, msn, facebook & ebay. This problem occurs across all browsers: IE7 Firefox and Safari. I can browse other webpages fine.

I can access these websites using my laptop (windows XP) using the same wireless connection but they don't work when using my PC (windows vista).

I've had my PC for about a year now and it's the first time i've encountered such a problem.

I've looked up this problem everywhere and tried almost everything but haven't been able to resolve it. I've tried resetting/ changing my internet security settings, turning off my firewall, scanned my computer with a number of spyware removal programs.

tried pretty much everything on here:

*How do you ensure that TCP Port 443 is enabled in your firewall????

A:HELP! Problem accessing secure websites (hotmail, ebay, facebook) across all browsers

Hi. . .

Nice link - I am a member at that site, but please disregard the "solutions" found therein.

Please run a Vista System Health report in HTML format:
START | type cmd.exe into the start search box | right-click on cmd.exe | select Run as Administrator | the black cmd prompt (DOS) screen will appear - type the following:

perfmon /report
It will take about a minute to run... then save it as an HTML file - you will see the default HTML file extension when you go to save it.

Please zip it up and attach to your next post.

What anti-virus are you running and do you have a 3rd party firewall? Do you use the Windows Firewall?

In the interim, do this as a test:
START | type Internet into the start search box | look up top under Programs and select Internet Explorer (no add-ons).

Can you reach those sites now?

Regards. . .

Hello, powercosmic
Welcome to TSF

My name is Billy O'Neal and I will be helping you. (Billy or Bill is fine, if you like.)
Please give me some time to look over your computer's log(s).
Please take note of the following:In the meantime, please refrain from making any changes to your computer.
Also, even if things appear to be running better, there is no guarantee that everything is finished. Please continue to check this forum post in order to ensure we get your system completely clean. We do not want to clean you part-way up, only to have the system re-infect itself. :)
If you do not understand any step(s) provided, please do not hesitate to ask before continuing. I would much rather clarify instructions or explain them differently than have something important broken.
Finally, please reply using the button in the lower left hand corner of your screen.
Old topics are closed after 3 days with no reply, and working topics are closed after 5 days. If for any reason you cannot complete instructions within that time, that's fine, just put a post here so that I know you're still here. We get a lot of people who simply leave, and if there is no contact for that amount of time I will have to assume you have "vanished" .

We need to create an OTViewIt ReportPlease download OTViewIt by OldTimer.

So, I've been browsing through the forums trying to find the solution on how to make it work again, but I failed horribly. Literally everything that I've tried and has been posted in the forums or simply in the internet didn't work at all. It just keeps being stuck like this: http://scr.hu/2fdl/es6s6

What I've tried:
1. Downloading the latest driver(Windows 8): http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...d=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
2. Flushing DNS and other things:
ipconfig /flushdns
[Press ENTER]
netsh winsock reset catalog
[Press ENTER]
netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
[Press ENTER]
netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
[Press ENTER]
exitClick to expand...

3. Conneting through proxy(this one works).

Any ideas? Basically - things that worked for all the people in other threads(or most of'em) don't do jackshit for me.

If you are only having problems with the one website (facebook), then what you did won't fix the problem.

You will need to clear your cache and cookies, then restart your browser.

Once you have done that, everything should work.

There are a bunch of images not loading on Facebook for my pc. It's the same on Chrome, IE, and Firefox. I've cleared all my temp files, caches/history/etc. It does the same thing in safe mode. Disabling security/firewall didn't work. Other devices on the same network load everything fine. Scanned with Spybot and Malewarebytes with nothing showing up.

It's always the same images but there doesn't seem to be any reason to it that I can find. A friend can upload two images that are the same size and taken one after the other with the same camera. One shows up fine every time, the other tries to load for awhile then just gives broken image icon.

I've looked around trying to find another site that does something similar with no luck, it seems centered on this computer and Facebook only.

Windows 7 with chrome and Java updated today (In attempt to fix). Not sure what to try next. Any help would be appreciated.

Kindly help me out, facebook.com is not opening on my laptop any longer.

A:Problem loading facebook

there are quite a few posts here regarding issues with facebook loading
this maybe a malware issue - we have a lot of facebook issues here
but first check

Checking the Host file
Open Notepad - Start> Programs> Accessories> and right click on Notepad select "Run as Administrator" to open a notepad
Now goto 'File' > 'Open' and browse to the HOSTS file - which will be located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc. - you may need to change the drop down box next to the file name:box from Text Documents (*.txt) to ALL Files (*.*)
The file should look like the info at the bottom of this post

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.
Once you are finished, go up to 'File' and click 'Save'. Make sure to change the Save as Type: box to All files.
Otherwise, Notepad may add a .txt extension to the file which will keep it from working. If you don't have your system set to show extensions, it's easy to miss that.

This is a weird one. I believe it's to do with my ISP or my router. But i'd like so help to find out which.

When I'm looking through pictures on Facebook some of them won't load. There is no pattern it's just random.
This happened before all the Facebook changes.
The reason I believe it is my ISP or my router is because the same thing happens when i'm on my iPod Touch and connected to my Home Wi-fi as well as my phone.
It can't be my account because when i'm on my Network's internet all of Facebook loads perfectly, albeit slow.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Hi, I wonder if anyone would have an answer as to why my Facebook messages are not loading. There are messages there, but when I click on all I get is a blank page, at the bottom says 'done'.
I am not sure but think this started last week when I updated Java.
Thank you in advance for your help.

A:Facebook messages not loading

Have you tried to just go to messages section on the left of the page, to read them first rather than clicking on the thing at the top of the page that tells you there are 5 messages that happened to me once but I was able to read them after going to messages first and not clicking on the thing that says I have messages, after a while this problem went away, I think it&#8217;s a problem that is more their end rather than yours.

I know this has been covered here before which is how I found the site but the resolution for solving it isn't working for me.

My problem is that facebook will not load any part of it visually on any browser on my computer while it works fine on my other two laptops, ipod touch, SG3, HTC DNA and Nexus 7 tablet. The desktop is an HP Envy H8 1417c with a gtx 650TI card as the only upgrade. All devices go wired and wirelessly through motorola surfboard SBG6782-AC modem router combo with the firewall set to medium, the HP is hard wired along with the Sony blueray and the 360. The network adapter driver is up to date as is java and quick time and Win 10 is probably the issue as it keeps hanging on updates for a 2003 version of office that I have and the updates always fail to load which causes the other updates to not be moved up. Still facebook is the only site affected and I'm at a loss as I've done a flush of cookies and history and cache and this is still a problem on Edge, Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Vivaldi and Opera.

If there's a way to take control of win 10 updater so I can bypass the office update issue please let me know, if not then can I downgrade back to win 8.1?

Hello...I consider myself able to get by with my computer. Meaning, I usually can figure out and solve my own issues. However this one has me completely lost. I realize that this is a Windows 7 forum, however, I did not see one for 9 and am not completely convinced that Windows is my issue.

Here is the problem. Facebook used to open just fine last week. Now this week no one in my house can open it. We all get the error message stating that Internet Explorer cannot open the webpage. The funny thing is that Facebook is the only site that is unaccessable. All others work just fine.

We are running a Belkin wireless router.

Here is another strange tidbit...we can open Facebook when we connect to the internet using my husbands mobil hotspot on his cell phone.

Can anyone please help fix this issue. I am so frustrated and out of ideas.

I use Facebook for my business and over the last 3 weeks or so, it has begun to either not load, load very slowly or load only partially. Frequently, I get a failure to start message and the whole thing simply gives up. Sometimes, parts of some panels fail to load...

Happens in Chrome and FF... Have tried clearing the usual cookies and temps but to no avail.

Not sure where to start, this is the only website this is happening with.
Could it be a JAVA problem perhaps?

I am at work on my computer & whenever I try to do anything on Facebook, at first it works & then it stops working & won't advance to any pages. I'm on there, clicking around & then, all of the sudden, if I click on a link or someone's page, it won't advance. I try to go to www.facebook.com and even there, the page won't load. If I'm still in FB on a random profile or on any page/photo/wall and click on the logo, it won't take me back to the homepage & the url doesn't change. The only way I can make this work is by closing out my browser completely and going back in. It only works for about 5 or 6 clicks until the same problems start happening. This has never happened before but has been going on for 2 months.
It's only on my computer.
Same issue on Chrome, Firefox, and IE.
Uninstalled & reinstalled Java, Flash, etc.
Not sure if it's because of my installed programs or whatever.
Any help is greatly appreciated (I haven't found this issue anywhere online)!
