Scrolling using Cypress touchpad when fingers reach bottom of touchpad

Q: Scrolling using Cypress touchpad when fingers reach bottom of touchpad

We just got a Dell XPS-15z, and, we have questions about scrolling on the Cypress touchpad using the Cypress drivers.

When scrolling down (either one finger or 2 fingers), when you hit the bottom of the touchpad, is there any way for the scrolling to continue without your having to lift your finger(s) back to the top of the touchpad? On other Dell laptops, I have Chiral motion, or the scrolling continues so long as your finger is at the bottom of the touchpad? I tried enabling the "Continued Motion" option just in case that was what did it, but that did not seem to work.

Which brings up another question re what "Continued Motion" does.

Also, is there any manual/help document for this driver either on the internet, or in the software itself?

I looked on the forum and on the internet, and couldn't find any answers.

TIA.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi, hope there's someone who can help me with this.
I'm using an acer aspire laptop, and my touchpad stopped working suddenly for a while - and after some time - until now - I can't scroll using two fingers (I have synaptics installed and it was working fine). Also the UP key in the keyboard isn't working. When I restart the system, tapping on the touchpad doesn't make a click unless I press ENTER first. This happened suddenly out of nowhere. Any help will be much appreciated.

Hello community, I just received one week ago my X1 carbon 5th gen, P7, 16go, product 20HRCTO1WW, bios N1MET37W1.22. I am a Lenovo fan and I had notably the T400 and the T440s. Since the beginning, I have touchpad issues with my X1 carbon 5th gen: - when scrolling with two fingers, the touchpad accidentally clicks (as If I tapped with one finger in order to click) and I don't recall one session without accidentally clicking on diverse websites and browsers (chrome, opera, firefox). Each session, my touchpad clicks accidentally at least 3-5 times. It is tiring. - I just discovered also that I can't drag something from the corner from the bottom right to the top left corner of my touchpad : indeed, while dragging a folder for example, the touchpad clicks during the course of my finger (even though my finger already press the touchpad in order to drag...). It is after discovering the second problem that I understood that my touchpad has a physical problem. For a very expensive business machine, it is rather unacceptable. I am currently on a trip but as soon as I get back to Belgium, I will ask Lenovo to change my touchpad. I am most angry by the fact that I spent hours to check every possibility to change the options in the synaptics software and the windows precision software in order to stop this accidental clicks (problem one) and up to now I couldn't resolve it. For the moment, I have via synaptics to ignore taps in one edge region of the touchpad in order to scroll without ... Read more

Getting very frustrated with this issue now!
Bought a reconditioned XPS in June, full warranty from DELL.  Everything works great, except the touchpad which is AWFUL!!!!
The physical buttons are the worst problem, and they need to be pressed VERY hard for them to work.  I have had DELL engineers change the entire trackpad twice now, and still the problem persists.
The "tap to click" option is better, but still seems to miss about 30% of my clicks...
I bought this laptop as I am so often working on the road... this issue has basically made it unusable, and I'm ready to chuck it out the window.
Rant over, and what i've done to try and fix:
- Twice service engineers replaced touchpad hardware, no improvement
- Flashed BIOS
- Deleted all touchpad and mouse drivers, reinstalled latest driver from dell website
- Endlessly played around with different combinations of touchpad settings
Does anyone have this issue too?  Any other ideas of what could be tried?  This simply can't be a how it is meant to be, everyone who uses this laptop has trouble clicking!!

Hello. I was wondering if you ever ended up fixing the issue you had with your XPS trackpad where you had to press very hard for the physical click to work. I have the same issue and want to know how to fix it. Thank you.

Where is the Windows 8 Cypress TrackPad Driver for the XPS 15z?
Problem: Before upgrading to Windows 8 the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant would of forced you to removed the Cypress TrackPad Software and Driver before upgrading. After upgrading your XPS 15z to Windows 8, you will then notice that there is no Cypress TrackPad Driver on the Dell Drivers and Downloads Site for the XPS 15z under the Windows 8 section. Instead there is only a Windows 7 Driver.
Dell have quietly marked the A06 2.3.6.26 Version of the Cypress TrackPad driver as Windows 8 compatible but trying to install the A06 Cypress TrackPad Driver normally will give you a incompatibility error like the one below, this is due to the Setup.exe file. A workaround to solve this problem is to perform a manual install of the Cypress TrackPad driver by following the instructions in the answer thread below (see link)

This is what will be displayed if you try to install the A06 Cypress TrackPad Driver on the XPS 15z through its normal Setup.exe. The error is slightly misleading as the driver itself works under Windows 8, but for whatever reason Windows 8 identifies the software installer as incompatible and blocks the installation.

To get around this, you can bypass the normal Setup Executable and install the driver and software manually:

A:Dell Touchpad not scrolling Sideways. But scrolling Up & Down

On both my Acer aspire one netbook (synaptics) and my Lenovo notebook (alps) I need to tab twice on the lower edge of the touchpad (to gain its attention?!?) and then it will scroll. Beyond that I believe you need to take a walk on the Dell support web site. There are number of 14xx models so you need to follow the steps there to find the freshest driver for your particular model. On both of mine the newest drivers have given scrolling as well as "pinching" to re-size pages, photos etc.

My touchpad has lost its scrolling functions since I upgraded to Windows 10, a year ago, and nothing I try can fix that.    I understand Windows comes with built-in drivers for mouse and touchpad, with the basic functions for the cursor. But that Synaptics drivers, with other functions like scrolling, are quickly downloaded and installed.   Well, in my case, it seems that these Synaptics drivers never take over, never get to actually control the touchpad: they seem correctly installed and activated, and I do check the scrolling functions all right; but the touchpad continues to behave as if it were still driven by the basic built-in drivers in Windows.   In fact sometimes I uninstall and totally delete the Synaptics drivers and make do with the basic Windows software; until the next automatic downloading of the useless Synaptics.   Thanks for any help.

I have a DELL XPS M1530 laptop that I just installed a full version of Windows 7. It had Windows Vista on it before. It is a replacement computer for my old DELL (same model) that was having issues.

I usually hook up a bluetooth mouse when I use my computer, but I just noticed last night when I was using the touchpad instead, is that it does not scroll up and down, or left to right. The mouse part of the touchpad works fine, as does the left and right buttons.

I am assuming the scrolling is just turned off on this computer (thinking simply first ... hoping it is not a serious issue). But I cannot find where to check to see if it needs to be turned back on.

Any suggestions?

There are only drivers for Vista and not Win 7. This may be an issue.

Purchased a HP ze4930us notebook last week. Have been having minor problems with the scrolling option on the touchpad, the thing on the right side of the touchpad that lets you easily scroll up and down web pages and other things. Sometimes it doesn't work.

Under one scenario, I will have to click on the webpage somewhere to get it to work. But the webpage is already selected even before I do this, because I am able to scroll the manual way, using the up and down arrows, or the page up and page down arrows. Why do I have to click somewhere on the webpage when it is already selected?

Under another scenario, the scrolling option won't even work even when I do click somewhere on the webpage. I am able to do everything else though, like scroll by using the arrows or page up and down arrows. The only way I can get the touchpad scrolling to work on the page is to either minimize the page I want to use the scrolling, and then maximize it again, or open, or make another window prominent, window, and then go back to the window that I want to do the scrolling. This works as well.

Usually, though, I do not have any problems with the scrolling on the touchpad.

A:problems with scrolling when using touchpad

I have a new ZV5000 and the scroll, while not as bad as you describe IS less sensitive than the one on my older ZT1170.

I'm not sure if it is because of the ridges on the new one or not? There are some adjustments under the Control Panel/Mouse screens that may help you?

Under "Tapping" I set the touch sensitivity to HIGH and that has helped me.

Other things I have noticed is that if there is a Window WITHIN a window, such as on the Forum's POST section, the scrolling function is specific to where the cursor is positioned....NOT the Pointer.

The same is true for Websites that use "Frames".

But the thing that STILL drives me nuts is the autoscrolling at the top and bottom of the scroll line on the touchpad!!! I always hit the spot and scroll PAST where I want to be. I have been training myself to lift my finger off the pad at the end of a scroll stroke.

I have a new XPS 15 9560 laptop with a precision touchpad (Microsoft drivers) running Windows 10 (1703, 64-bit). The touchpad generally works fine, but with two-finger scrolling sometimes I experience a 0.5 s lag OR the pad interprets the gesture as a pointer move (although I definitely use 2 fingers). The behavior is seemingly random, but it occurs quite often.I disabled "pinch to zoom" in settings. I also tried increasing the touchpad sensitivity in settings and reducing the APPThreshold in the registry to 0 (Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PrecisionTouchPad), but this didn't help.Does anyone have an idea how to fix this? Many thanks,Geert

To eneble scrolling in vmware guest mechines we can install TwoFingerScroll application for windows pc from the below link

It will enable the scrolling with touchpad in VMware.First download the zip file and extract it.Then run the TwoFingerScroll.exe once, then check the right corner of the taskbar,if it does not appears there then check the hidden icons there. Now double click that icon and change the settings as you want. You may turn off the scrolling feature of your default touch pad application.
According to my tests to get most out of it we should turn off the acceleration, set the speed to its full limit, and set the scroll mode to compatible.

It still lets me open the configure window if I hit "no," and when I go to Device Settings > Scrolling > One-Finger Scrolling, it does not let me check the "Enable Vertical Scrolling" box. When I click the box, nothing happens.

My Synaptics driver is enabled to turn on at start up, so I don't know why this problem is happening.

Hello moonlightxmania and welcome to Seven Forums.

If this issue just recently started you may be able to roll back your computer to a date/time prior to when it first began. See if you have a restore point that goes back that far.

System Restore

Another possibility is to see if you can update the Synaptics driver. Just as an example, my computer uses the Alps pointing device. When I go to control panel > mouse I get this:

When I click the Hardware tab and then double click on Alps pointing device I get this:

Click on the Driver tab and see if the "Update Driver" button can be clicked. (Mine is grayed out because I have the newest available driver.) If you can update the driver, do so. Please post back if your problem gets resolved.

Hello all, Just recently bought a HP Spectre x30, and very pleased with it. However, there is something ANNOYING going on and I can't seem to fix it without using the system recovery option. It works, but doing this on a daily basis is just not doable.  There is something I do with the touchpad, or something wrong with the touchpad and I think it is very easy to fix but I can't detect the exact definition of the problem. When the system is recovered, the touchpad works fine. With the left click I am able to select a piece of text, and with the right click I am able to use the dropdown menu and options such as copy and paste. However, when I accidentely do something, I think something like double click with the left click on the pad, something happens and the options I just described dont work anymore. Instead: a scroll lock or something similar happens. It now starts up with a BIOS lock (asks for a password, but that's fine since IT gave it to me, though I could do without the shrill beeping sound every time I open the laptop).

Anyway, the laptop works fine for a while after startup, but once I start running more programs and open a few tabs in IE or Forefox simultaneously, the cursor and trackpad start acting up. When I open a new page in IE, for example, the cursor automatically scrolls down to the bottom of the page and refuses to scroll back up when I try to do so (it sort of "snaps" back into place a the bottom of the page). The screen also starts to flicker like crazy when this happens. I also have difficulty selecting icons in the control panel because of the same issue. If the icon is arranged in the top array, I can select it but then a few sconds later the cursor moves down to the icon located at the bottom of the same column, so I end up opening the wrong folder etc. I have tried uninstalling the touchpad drivers and reinstalling, but the problem persists. The same problem exhibits even if I plug in a USB mouse.

I am running Windows XP Professional version 2002, SP 3. The laptop is a Toshiba Portege M500 with Intel Core2 CPU [email protected] 1.83 GHz, 0.99 GB RAM. I have Malwarebytes and... Read more

Hey Guys, i am running a X1C5 on Windows 10 1803. Yesterday Windows updated my Touchpad Drivers to 19.3.4.210 (same as Lenovo website offers). Problem is that scrolling on the touchpad is now kind of slow and sometimes it freezes (can't scroll up or down with the touchpad then) I already tried to increase Vertical/Horizontal Scroll in mouse settings (the most recommended) but it has not effect at all.Scrolling with an external bluetooth mouse works like always. Do you guys have any hint for me?

So I recently got my T460s as a work machine and I love the device, except for the touchpad experience. Compared to my personal device, a Surface Pro 4, I am left very disappointed in this regard. Using two fingers to scroll is a nightmare. It often freezes mid-scroll, and immediately after scrolling the cursor would reappear, jump somewhere, and a click would be performed. Sometimes, this click would highlight text on the webpage, other times, this click would click on a favorite in the favorites bar and force me into another site. It just isnt a smooth scrolling experience. Something is definitely wrong here, and I just hope its not a hardware issue. I am running Windows 10, and I have all my drivers up-to-date, including the Synaptics driver. I tried going into the Synaptics settings and disabling the touchpoint like some have suggested, didnt work. I tried rebooting, didnt work. I tried disabling two-finger scrolling, rebooting, then re-enabling it, didnt work. I tried uninstalling the driver and re-installing it, didnt work. I dont know what else do to. Has anyone had any luck with this? UPDATE: I've isolated the issue to it happening only in Windows 10/Modern UI apps, including the Microsoft Edge browser. The mouse cursor disappears in these apps when scrolling and jumps around after scrolling has stopped. But this isnt the case in say File Explorer, Google Chrome, or Microsoft Word.

Wow, I've not seen any laptop whatsoever in the last 10-20 years that lacked this crucial feature.  This is my first Lenova product and I can't help but wonder what other functionality they don't understand, do they even use their own products?  How is a scrolling feature optional to them?  What other corners did they cut that I'll only discover later?  This thing is going right back to the store. (bonus facepalms when they mark their threads on here "solved!" when the solution is "no, we didn't bother adding this very basic functionality that every other laptop on the planet has")

Dear Dell,
I recently installed Windows 8.1 x64 on my Dell Latitude E6430 with all the Dell drivers from the Dell webpage. After installation everything is fine, but the scroll does not work on my touchpad. My driver version is 8.1200.101.134 but in the touchpad settings the "Scroll & Zoom" section is missing as you can see below:

Every other gestures are working, like pinch zoom, except the vertical and horizontal scroll. But the strangest thing is on the task bar the touch pad icon seems to be right, it shows that I'm touching the side of the touch pad: .
What can I do to get back my good old scrolling?

A:Touchpad scrolling on E6430 with Windows 8.1

1. Go to Program Files -> DellTpad -> DellTPad.exe
2. Then Select Single Finger Gestures.

Hello, I have a weird issue with my touchpad on Windows 10. On startup, the scrolling with the touchpad partially works, I mean, half of the time it scrolls properly, the other half it will zoom/unzoom or put the mouse pointer at a random place on the screen. I partially found a solution to this problem : as soon as Windows has finished to start, I close my laptop to put it in sleep mode, and after that, the scrolling works perfectly again, but everytime I reboot I have to do that so it becomes a little bit boring... Note that on a previous installation of Windows 10 on this computer (which was my second installation), I had the same issue, but the next day, an update has fixed it (or at least I think it was the update, I rebooted as the update asked me and the problem was gone so I don't know if it was the update, the reboot, or the magic...). And on my first installation, still on this computer, I never had this problem... So is this problem known here ? I've read so many thing things about touchpad issues, but that was always about touchpad not working at all, in my case, it works almost perfectly, just the scrolling will not perfectly works until I put the computer in sleep mode...

Update : When I created this thread I was on a triple boot Mac OS X Yosemite / Windows 10 / Linux Mint 17.3. After a few months, I had a problem with Linux that forced me to reinstall all my operating systems, and as I had a problem with the instalation of OS X, I skipped it and only reinstalled Windows and Linux. From this moment, the problem was gone. But yesterday, I took the time to reinstall OS X (and Windows and Linux because the HDD has to be empty to install OS X so I had to erase everything), then I reinstalled Windows and the problem was back. So I guess the problem is related to OS X, I don't see how and why but that's my only explanation... And I still haven't been able to really solve it so if you have any idea...

A:E1-571 Elan touchpad not scrolling after windows 1...

I have the very same problem after Windows 10 update. I rolled back the driver to a generic PS-2 with no results. I then downloaded a new Elan driver and still no scroll. My wife is **bleep** as she will not use the computer w/out the scroll. I guess my options are go back to windows 8.1 or buy her a new computer
