I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi everyone....

Current PC specs listed above ..... to get it out of the way I am a gamer......

This upgrade is to allow me to play some of the newer games such as The Witcher and also to enable me to utilize DX10 when I eventually upgrade to Vista.

RAM.....this is what I have found...I do not overclock and I am very happy with the matched pair of Corasir XMS 512MB 5400C4 running at 533 that I currently have so I figured the safe bet is in just jumping to a matched pair of 1MB sticks of the same.....
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145015

Graphics card.....

I do have a budget and from the reviews I have read this card should carry me through the gaming world for at least the next year (hopefully 2) I like eVGA and I have nothing but good things to say about the eVGA 6800GS that I am currently using.

But if anyone has some input as to problems with the card listed below or if you know of another card that will perform just as well (or better) for around the same price I would like to hear about it.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130317

Thanks in advance for any help.......

So I have a Sapphire Radeon R9 280x, and I just bought a MSI GeForce GTX 970. I also have a 500W CoolerMaster powersupply, would I need to upgrade this to 600-750W?

+note: I also bought two sticks of HyperX 16GB RAM and a Corsair H75 Hydro Series CPU Cooler.

Your 500 watt PSU meets the minimum requirement.... GeForce GTX 970 | Specifications | GeForce

So with that in mind....I'd say yes to a new PSU.

Hi,
My system came with a R9 270 which I want to replace with a Sapphire Dual X R9 R280x.
That card needs a 6pin and an 8pin connection and the manufacturer's site say a 500W PSU is advised.
So, I'm concerned that I get a new PSU that fits my case, has the right connectors for all the 8700 components, and is say north of 600W.
Could anyone point me in the right direction.
My system info is......

Hi guys, I have a Lenovo ThinkPad P50, and I was wondering if it was possible to upgrade the graphics card.  It came with an NVIDIA Quadro M2000M, but since it also has a 4K screen, it doesn't work as good as I would like.  Is is possible to replace this graphics card with a better one?  This would really help because I am a gamer.  Thanks!

A:Is it possible to upgrade the graphics card of a P50?

No, it's not possible. P70 have MXM port, which allows replacing GPU. P50 have soldered GPU. However, there are reports, that some people were able to utilize external GPU (eGPU) using Thunderport3 port.https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/11286-lenovo-thinkpad-p50-with-gtx-960/ Please do note, that Lenovo doesn't support such configuration.https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/External-GPUs-on-P50-Mobile-Workstation-...

My PC works well but the graphics card is old (it was orginally out of my really old pc - AST Advantage, purchased in 1994).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have checked out other threads and they've been helpful, but I need to know what would be compatible with the system I've got. Also cost will be playing a big part in what ever card I buy.

So I'm looking to upgrade the graphics card in my computer. I was trying to stick a Nvidia GEForce 7600 in there that I parted out of another computer until I realized that I have a PCI x slot rather then AGP, which is an issue. So with a Pentium 4 processor, 1.25 ram, which is easily upgraded, and I can easily get a new power source, what would be a comparable card to the GEForce?

If not, does anyone know how I can modify more of my settings to make games run smoothly? Many games run fine (such as GTA 5) but some are still choppy and have to be run at low settings (such as Forza Hotrizon 3).

The graphics chip is soldered to the motherboard and is not a removeable or upgradeable component.  Right now HP is running some tremendous Black Friday deals on gaming laptops. Two of the main reasons I wanted a High end hardware PC is for gaming and music production. With gaming there is a small issue, I noticed that my graphics card is really not that powerful and have to constantly run on minimum graphics in the games's settings.  Hardware Information:Processor- Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7500U CPU @ 2.70GHz 2.90 GHzRAM- 12.0GB (11.9 GB useable)Graphics- Intel(R) HD Graphics 620 (1.00GB adapter RAM) Since this a newer laptop im sure I can upgrade the graphics driver, also if I can upgrade, ive been looking into nvidia GeForce drivers. Which one would fit in to the laptop, or if there is a specific type of graphics driver I must use for this laptop.                                                                                                                      Thank You for your time.

Hello,
I got a new job so I can afford to upgrade my computer finally. I have recently upgraded to a 4 core cpu which I love so much! Better then a two core. Any ways, on topic, I have a ATI Radeon 3200, if you read my post before, most likely not because it was long time ago, but I'd like to upgrade to the ATI Radeon 5670. I found out I have a PCI express x16 slot so it will handle it. But I'm confused by the watts. My power supply gives me the measurements in volts, 100-127v, 50/60Hz, it is a ATXO300DSWB power supply. I couldn't find my graphics card specs anywhere.. not even on AMD's website. But compared to the 3400, I'm guessing it is about 400-550 watts, since the 3400 requires 550 watts.

[EDIT] Upon more research, I found out my current graphics card, the ATI Radeon HD 3200, is an onboard graphics card. Will I still be able to upgrade?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please and thank you!

A:Graphics Card Upgrade - Help!

Usually the product model of a power supply contains
the power rating of the power supply.
Usually,not always.
From you model I would guess it is only 300 watts.
Going to need to upgrade that.
Get something like a corsair,OCZ,antec or something
similar of good quality.
Probably want at least 600 watts.
Im assuming you have a standard ATX case.
You can add the video card to the pci express X16 slot and more than
likely disable the onboard video in the BIOS setup.

My son bought a packard bell 2389 2 months ago and wanted to upgrade the graphics card. He has bought saphire x1950 pro ATI Radion. Fitting instruction were unclear. Couldn't see where to connect power supply to card. Also how does he find out the power supply his computer has. Finally if the supply is not enough can you recommend one that will be compatable with the PC

Thanks

A:Graphics card upgrade

The power output of the power supply should be somewhere on the power supply. Usually the ones that manufacturers use are anywhere from 200 watts to 350 watts. (Not 100% sure).
None the less the best way to figure out which power supply you need is to see what is recommend for the card, and then get more then that.
As far as the connecting goes there should be a spare plug, but once again manufactures dont usually give extra because they want it to look clean. Just get an upgraded one from somewhere. Antec usually makes good power supplies, and power supplies should be universal.

Hi,

I assembled my PC in mid 2010 and it's still runs OK for my purposes except that I feel that Firefox and other programs that I use feel somehow sluggish and I attribute this to the naive graphics card I'm using (AMD RADEON HD 5450) even with the latest Catalyst drivers. I picked this up on purpose because it has no fan (I'm not a gamer anyway).
Now that it's 2014, I'm asking a recommendation for a more powerful graphics card that uses no fan at all in order to enjoy more powerful graphics in Firefox, youtube, flash, photoshop,...etc without adding any extra noise.

Thanks in advance.

A:Better no fan graphics card for upgrade

I sort of doubt that it is your sluggish problem especially with Firefox. That could be due to your internet connection.

What size hard drive and is it close to being full? Do you defrag it periodically?

With that said, check out the Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GT730 4GB.

With that budget and 500 watts, you should not be too limited in your purchases. One thing you need to check is if your Power Supply has a set of 6 pin connectors or 8 pin connectors because sometimes on the pre-bought machines they do not have too many.

Here is what I would recommend if you have at least 2 6 Pins available:

Highest
R9 280 £175
or
R9 270X £140

Those would both be excellent cards with the 280 being the best and the 270X being right below it in terms of performance. Both would be a huge step up from an HD 5450.

I'm trying to upgrade to a Radeon RX 480 card.  I've upgraded the PSU to a 600 W Corsair.  I've been running a XFX Radeon 6950 with no issues.    I've had the 480 working in another machine so I know the card is fine.  I'm wondering if the 480 is even compatible with the motherboard.  I can't find information on its compatibility.

@ArcFlashAvoider, welcome to the forum. I believe that your problem is caused by the fact that the RX 480 requires UEFI in the motherboard instead of a Legacy/standard BIOS.  HP didn't begin using UEFI until mid-October, 2012.  The BIOS can't be upgraded to UEFI.  I suggest that you contact the manufacturer's Tech Support to see if they can help you with a VBIOS update for the card that will allow it to work with UEFI. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

HiI have an Acer Veriton M421G.I have recently upgraded my video editor to Cyberlink Power Director 15.From the warnings I keep getting eg: Not enough memory. upgrade graphics card, I guess my system cannot cope. The system is the original other than upgraded to win 10.The processor is a AMD Athlon(tm) 11 x4 620 processor 2600Mhz 4 core 4 logical processor. Is it possible to upgrade to a AMD Phenom 11 or higherand VGA 128 VRam or higher. As you can probably tell I have no idea what happens under the lid! If it is possible to upgrade would it be worth it or should I think about a complete new system. Thanks any advice much appreciated.

Currently, I have a XFX GTS250 512MB Core Edition gpu in my computer and now some voice in my head tells me to upgrade a bit on this.
I have a bit of a tight budget at max R2000 and was wondering if a card like this would be an ample upgrade: http://titan-ice.co.za/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=51_143&products_id=5141

I have an idea that this the component causing some irritating lag in games, and I suspect that this will get worse when my new monitor arrive(a 27 inch) which will have larger res than my current 20inch 1600x900

I also prefer to run my games at the highest level possible, so tuning down the quality is not an option

Any comments, ideas etc etc are welcome

PS: Rest of specs is:
AMD Phenom II x4 3.2GHz;
Corsair 4gb ddr3 1333;
Running WinXP Pro

I am running a GTX460 myself, I am a gamer and I find it quite a nice card. It isn't the best out there but it is pretty decent.

However, things you need to also consider are:

1) What PSU do you currently have, it may not be enough to support the new card as it will require more power to run it.
2) Using WinXP is limiting your graphics a bit as you can only use DirectX 9. DirectX 10 and 11 are Vista and Windows 7 only, so you are missing out on their improvements.

I have the dell Inspiron 580s and i have the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator as built in video card.

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card and wanted to know what my options were

A:Graphics Card Upgrade

After some reserch on the dell website I found out that you pc is a small form factor, but it does have 1 PCI-E X16 connector, the only thing that you would be limited by would be the form factor and the power supply.
Edit:
just to make sure this is the computer:http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-580s/pd ?
