My HP laptop does not detect projector when projector plugged in. I have reviewed and followed the set up instructions at http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03504591 Connecting to HDMI port on laptop (only video output) to VGA on projector usinf dedictaed cable. Running Windows 10 Home, 64-bit Version 1607 Display adapter is Intel (R) HD Graohices 5500. Latest driver installed - version 22.214.171.12449 version date 10/11/2016. Display settings shows only one screen and is unable to detect the projector (which works perfectly well with my 10 year old Dell laptop running XP). I have tried linking cables and starting prjector before booting up PC, and also booting PC then projector all to no avail. There have been various similar queries on the forum but none seem to have a definitive solution that has been confirmed as working. I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system
It's worked out well for many of us in the past.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)
Just ordered a x360 11t on line & the only upgrade was from 4 to 8 GB Ram which I did. After I ordered it, I came across a vid on you tube released May 3 of last year by HP stating the 11t was going to be available with a i3 processor & a 128gb ssd. Vid said these upgrades would be available mid to late May of last year. Any thoughts about this. I called HP, they said it's not available now & no info of it in future.Read other answers

Hello All, Frustrated new owner of HP Pavilion x360 - convertible here. Bought this computer about 2 weeks ago. Here are the issues I've been having. 1. Computer goes into sleep mode no matter what minutes setting I've set to (both on battery and plugged in)I've even set everything to never; laptop would still go into sleep mode after 3 to 5 minutes of no-use. 2. Spent 2 to 3 hours with HP rep, whom of which remotely accessed my laptop, downloaded a bios update, installed bios update. After the bios update, we tested the problem byleaving computer untouched for about 5 minutes or so; issue seems to be solved. 3. After step 2, HDMI external monitor not sending signal to monitor. My ext. monitor can't detect a signal. (I actually had problems when I first tried to use an external monitor, had to do several restarts and shutdowns to finally have monitor detect and signal from the laptop.) I know it's not the hdmi cable or monitor, as I've tried inter-switching monitors and cables with my amazon fire TV. And all monitors and cables were okay. 4. Nevertheless, after step 3, I fiddled around and restarted and shutdown the laptop some more times, and somehow the monitor finally detected a signal, and screen works again. 5. BUT HERE WE GO AGAIN...... LAPTOP GOES INTO THE DREADFUL SLEEPMODE after 3 to 5 minutes of idling. This is really frustrating when you're working a a... Read moreRead other answers
Hello, This is a new laptop that I got for my college daughter this past Christmas and it has a very noisy fan. My dauhgter loves the laptop and takes it to all her classes, but the fan gets so noisy at times that she has been asked by other sutdents and the teacher to shut ther computer down becuase of the extreme noise that it makes. In full disclosure I am an HP employee and want to support the company products and expect high quality products, but she and I are very disapointed with this issue with a new HP product. Also another problem that I encountered is that when I went to the HP support site to try to get help, the site does not recognize either the S/N or Prod. I just bought my HP Pavilion X360 not even 30 days ago. I had it on the ottoman and my dog jumped up and knock it off. It fell a decent distance, but still worked fine. I've been using it without any problems, until now. The battery drained, so I went to plug in the power cord and then proceeded to press the power button and it got stuck. I tried everything to get it to depress. Initially, I thought it would have very little to do with the fall, because it was working fine until I had to recharge and power up. Sadly, I can get nothing to turn on and the button still appears NOT to have depressed (still stuck). Can anyone help me with this? I don't honestly know if it was due to the fall, or if this is just an issue with HP Pavilion laptops. Can someone also advise on the cost to replace this button? Thank you!

Hello,I'm having some trouble with my Envy x360 (m6-w103dx). I like it a lot so far and decided it needed a boost, so I took a Crucial BX100 250GB SSD I had and cloned the HDD that came with the laptop to the SSD. Immediately on boot the laptop says the drive's smart status has an issue/failing (which doesn't seem right, the other PC's I've been trying the SSD on aren't showing the same things, and just this morning the SSD was functioning perfectly fine as the boot drive of an older PC)After that the laptop would say "Boot device not found, Please install an operating system on your hard disk" (3F0).So I figured okay, maybe I botched cloning the HDD. I plugged the SSD back into my desktop and wiped it clean, and prepared a Windows 10 USB installer. While I was doing this, I also put the original HDD back in the laptop to make sure it was still functioning properly and the laptop booted up fine just like it used to.I put the wiped/cleaned SSD back into the laptop. I'm still getting the message about the drive's smart status on boot, and "Boot device not found, Please install an operating system on your hard disk" (3F0). So sounds like I just need to install windows...plugged in the Win 10 USB drive, and set bios to boot USB first. After that Windows 10 installer came up just like it normally does but there were no drives detected. I'm pretty stuck at this point. I've tried cloning, wiping the drive and initializing it as MBR, and again wiping it and trying... Read moreRead other answers
I have an original series HP Spectre x360 13-4003dx with Windows 10. I cannot connect a vga display to the x360 Mini DisplayPort. I am using a miniDisplayport to vga cable from CableDeconn. Typing (Windows) + P, I try to switch to dual displays, either mirrored or extended, and also try to click on "detect display" but get the error message, cannot detect. i have rolled back the graphic drivers to the original install, and also updated to the most recent. Neither works. I also removed pin 9 from the VGA side of the cable (15 pin cable, reduced to 14 pin). I removed the pin because I heard that some cables send voltage thru that pin, and shouldn't. Nothing works. i have tried it on a Planar vga only monitor, a Samsung VGA monitor, and an LG TV (vga connector), all of which work with other equipment. The hdmi to hdmi connection works just fine. i have spent hours and am very frustrated. Any hints or help is greatly appreciated. I'm about to go to the dark side (Apple). Please don't let me do it! Hi, after an unsuccessful attempt of HP chat support on this issue, I've decided to post my question here. I have bought two pavilion x2 12, both worked perfectly, until today I found one of them cannot auto rotate. Known:1. Both PCs undergone same driver update and installed same software.2. There is no sensor in device manager3. The other pavilion works.4. There is no auto rotate option in action center and settings Done:1. Installed latest drivers(especially the intel integrated sensor solution twice)2. Updated BIOS nunerous times.3. Reseted twice, all data wipied4.. Tried to add the same sensor in hardware manager.(Looked up sensor of the working pc in device manager and install legacy hardware in problematic pc, resulting This device cannot start. (Code 10) Failed to open lower target for IO handling) Any ideas?I think cloning the working one's hdd to problematic one may works.
After downgrading the intel integrated sensor solution driver, the sensors pops up in the devicr manager. Auto rotation back online.Read other 2 answers
I bought HP Paviion 130 x360 from Future Shop a month ago. At that time, I didn't get any pen or pen drive software. So I'm just wondering if it's their mistake or I should buy one.
If possible, I'd like to use one of these pens: Lapazz tablet ??8060 pen, stylus pen, and a pen for HP tc4400 tablet pc.
Also, I want to use pen pressure for photoshop.
If I have to buy the pen:
1. What pen will fit for my laptop?
2. What pen drive do I need to install?
3. Do I have to buy both of them? can I download a free software from HP website ?
I really need the pen pressure system.
If I don't need to buy:
1. Can I get a digital pen from Futureshop/Best Buy? (I don't know much about Tablet PC and It was first time to buy a laptop by myself)
2. Unless, Does one of pens on top work on my laptop and to use pen pressure? I tried to touch the screen with them. Only stylus worked.
3. Can I use Lapazz tablet pen as a digital pen/ a stylus?
Unless I'm missing something, this is a touch screen which you use your finger to navigate rather than a mouse. If you are more comfortable using a mouse you can use a usb type with the laptop. I personally don't know anyone who uses a stylus on a laptop touch screen.
Just out of curiosity, where did you read that you needed to use a "pressure pen"?

I recently received the HP Pavilion x360 laptop as a gift. By the second use it was evident that something was wrong with the touchscreen. It will occasionally go berserk and self-activate, in which a poltergeist is seemingly tapping my screen incessantly and opening programs, windows, and files. The touch screen animation of little taps across the screen clicks up and down the left side of my entire screen, causing the most disturbance when it clicks within the Windows 10 start menu, where it clicks open programs, etc. While this is happening, I cannot even control the mousepad, as the cursor is incessantly being dragged back to where the touchscreen is being activated. In the end I always have to force shut-down, and generally I can reuse it for a while (maybe like four hours or so?) before I have to go through the whole cycle again. I have not noticed a pattern yet regarding when it occurs. Sometimes it's write when I start the laptop; sometimes it's after I've been using it for an hour or so. Tactics I have tried:Uninstalling and reinstalling touchscreen driverChecking for updatesRe-Calibrating the touchscreen Eventually just going into Device Manager and disabling the touchscreen altogether. I am having trouble with my windows installation after attempting to install windows 10 a second time on the same machine, but different partition.
I have used a bootable USB device with the windows 10 installation (created with the same machine and the same settings for OS).
After pressing F12 and selecting the USB as the boot device, i started the installation process and got to the stage where you select which drive / partition to install windows. But the list only contained the USB device i used to start the installation process, and the SSD did not appear when tried to refresh / reload drives (or unchecked the "hide incompatible drives" checkbox).
After canceling the installation process, i was met with the following message when rebooting windows:
"Your PC/Device needs to be repaired.

However when the error occured the BIOS was reset to factory settings and i was able to log in to windows (and listen to spotify for an hour or so) before i tried the install that gave the error:

Hey System Failure and welcome to the forums.. Its good to see more (/loads flame guard) Linux users around... (/unloads flame guard)
You shouldnt need a hot key as the Live CD is supposed to load everything to its default level, every time that it is booted, including monitor as the default display device. This would be different if you are using a custom xorg.conf file, in which case you would need to define your hot key combo there.
I hope this answers your question..
