I'm receiving many messages that certain DLL executions are failing.

Q: I'm receiving many messages that certain DLL executions are failing.

These popups are occurring about once a day. They have various names, and Google searches on the DLL names are returning no items. SpyBot appears to believe that I'm clean, as does SuperAntiSpyware. Funny thing - neither SpyBot nor SuperAntiSpyware start automatically upon startup any longer (this has me worried...)

Per Windows Update instructions, I recently updated to IE 8. This may/may not (probably!) was around the time the popup began occurring, but better to be safe than sorry.

Another issue I've encountered recently, around the same time frame, is that my SigmaTel C-Major Audio card has stopped working. Device Manager seems to think it's functioning properly. I've tried disabling/re-enabling it, as well as shutting down/starting up the system. No help. I've tried using the WIndows troubleshooting tool to help fix it. Nada.

One other thing that happened around the same time that's probably unrelated - I stopped receiving email notifications from Facebook (stop laughing.) No settings were changed.

Any help on any of my crap would be appreciated.

Preferred Solution: I'm receiving many messages that certain DLL executions are failing.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have a toshiba hard drive in my laptop that Windows 7 says "Windows detected a hard disk problem." I've backed up my personal files, and now I'm trying to figure out if it can be repaired or if I'm going to have to buy a new hard drive. I tried to run the Toshiba hard drive diagnostic, but the tool isn't allowing me to select my drive and can't run without being able to do that, even though it is my only hard drive. I've checked for viruses and malware, and it says there are none. I've defraged as well. Where can I go from here?

A:Receiving error that Hard Drive is failing

As a guess, I'd say that the tool won't run because the drive is already too far gone.

You might see what this tells you:

For what it's worth, as soon as you get a warning that a drive has problems you can just about forget it. It might last five weeks or five minutes, but it's not going to last five years. You were very smart to back your stuff up while you could. I would plan for a new drive as soon as possible; right now if you really need the machine on a regular basis.

A:Receiving duplicate messages

Found this. Its for OE though.

The bug appears when you have more than one POP3 mail account on one server, and any of the accounts use the "Leave on Server" option. To use more than one POP3 account on one server, disable "leave on Server" or only use one POP3 account on that server with each instance of the OE client (per windows instance or per machine.) Mike M found a fix for this If you enter the IP address for your pop server in Accounts/Mail for those mail accounts where you wish to leave the message on the server and the alias name for your pop server in Accounts/Mail for those mail accounts where you are not leaving the messages on the server. This little fudge, whilst still accessing the same server, seems to overcome the present problems. If you don't know the IP address for your server then may I suggest you ping the server using its alias from a DOS box. This will then report the full IP addres

Hi I have a Nokia E63 sometimes when I receive a text message the phone tells me it cannot receive the message because the memory is full, and prompts me to delete items. Before, I had 250ish messages in my inbox, so I deleted them, but the prompt appeared again after 100 messages were received, and after they were deleted it appeared after 50. I have searched and searched through my phone and have deleted everything I can, pictures, video and sounds, yet the prompt appeard this morning with only 8 messages in my inbox. This suggests that it is filling its memory with something that i'm not aware of. Please help me out, I've only had it for three weeks its a bit of a shame. Cheers, tubes

okay, like everyone else who finds themselves here, I'm frustrated. Here's my problem.

I bought a new pc in June then added DSL a few days later. I recently realized that I'm no longer receiving yahoo offlines on this machine (honestly I'm not sure I ever did on this machine). I first had people IM me when I logged off to see if this was really the problem. I rec'd nothing, even tho they copied and pasted what they'd sent.

Background info. I'm running Norton, SBC Protection tools (minus antivirus per suggestion of Norton -- once Norton trial is over I'll switch to all SBC Protection), and windows built-in firewall.

What I've tried.
1. Treating Yahoo as an 'exception'/control panel
2. SBC Customer Service
3. Yahoo Customer Service
4. Googleling
5. Eating chocolate.
6. Uninstalling Yahoo Messenger
7. Upgrading to the 7.0 Beta Messenger
8. Called ex-boyfriend who claims to 'have skills'
9. Auto Repair (rec'd message can't clear cache DNS)
10. Cleared cookies, history, etc.

So far, none of the above helped (okay maybe the chocolate).

I'm stuck and I'm not sure what else to try. Any help is appreciated.

I have set up Outlook to manage my comcast.net accounts. For the most part, Outlook is receiving the messages, but there are some messages that do not arrive in the Outlook Inbox but can be found in the comcast account inbox. I have not added any of those account names to any blocked list that I know of. I cannot find online a way to fix this problem, but obviously Outlook is not reliably receiving all my comcast email. Any thoughts for a fix? Thanks.

Hi. I have a POP email account through NameBargain which is not receiving any emails. I'm using the webmail.domain.com inbox that NameBargain provides.

The odd thing is it only stopped receiving emails about five days ago - up until then it had been working fine. It is also sending emails (although it's not sending any attachments).

I discovered this issue because I was trying to use this POP through a gmail inbox, and I wasn't receiving the verification email. I've tried sending the account multiple test emails, but no luck.

Does anyone know why this might be happening, and how this issue could be corrected? I would really appreciate some help.

Thank you!

Sorry if this is a silly question for you all, but here goes...

I just today started using Outlook Express at work. After setting everything up I tried sending test messages to my two Hotmail accounts from work using a POP3 server. The messages send, but nothing shows up in Hotmail. No error or bounceback messages or anything. Messages do get sent to other addresses...just not Hotmail addresses.

Any ideas??

I've posted about this problem before, but I never really figured it out. On my computer at home, both Outlook and Thunderbird download all of my messages from my email account (with Comcast). But I am trying to set up a different Comcast account on a different computer and it is only getting unread messages.

How can I get all the messages off the server? I'm guessing this is a problem with a preference with Comcast but, I could be wrong.

Thank you!

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I have Windows 7 (64 bit) on my PC.

I have an odd problem with Windows Live Mail. As soon as I installed it, I unchecked the following options under Options -> General:

Check for new messages every ... (30 minutes) and
Send and receive messages at startup.

So these options now DO NOT have the check mark next to them.

Despite this, my Windows Live Mail checks for new email messages on all accounts (both for my ISP, my hosting as well as on Gmail accounts) every 30 minutes or perhaps every 1 hour and downloads any new email messages, even when I don't tell it to do so. I am not sure about the exact time period but it certainly checks for new emails even when I don't tell it to do so. If I leave the computer overnight I always find new emails downloaded by tomorrow morning.

What could be the reason for this and is there any way to permanently switch it off?

The installed license is a Volume MAK license - not usually available to the public. From where did you acquire this license?

This could be caused by a number of things -
please first check whether KB3004394 is installed. If it is, please install KB3024777 to remove the earlier update, then reboot twice, and post a new MGADiag report

If 4394 is not installed, then it may be a corrupted SoftwareDistribution folder...

Open an Elevated Command Prompt
Run the following commands

REN C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution SDOLD

reboot twice, and run another MGADiag report - post the results.

It used to be fine but is not any more.

While there are surely new messages on a server (Gmail in particular) Thunderbird doesn't get them. There's sometimes a message at the bottotm : receiving messages (i.e.) 1 of 5 but after a while it stops and no new messages are loaded. I'm sure everything is well configured as it used to work fine until these days.
Is it b/c there are too many messages on my account??

What's stranger is that sometimes TBird's trying to get 'new' messages which've already been downloaded before. It displays then 'receiving messages 1 of 21' (while only two or three are new!!, not 21!) and sometimes one message is downloaded 30 times at a time!!!

Is there anybody using TBird with the same problem??
Or sb who's got an idea how to solve it??

I'd appreciate it as this problem's extremely annoying....
(even more than a shouting wife behind your back )...

And by the way,
why is TBird so slow??

A:Thundebird: problem with receiving messages

I should've stated it before:
I've got two mail accounts on my TBird, both of them are Gmail - one like private and one kinda bussineslike... The second one works OK, it receives all messages from the server.
But the private one doesn't. I got some mails on TBird recently which have already been on a server for a week!! Why is that?? Shall I use two different mail-clients for two differentaccounts?? Or is there a way to fix it??

For the last few days I've had trouble receiving some random e-mails. We're running XP Pro and we have a couple of user profiles. Usually if the message is sent to each persons profile either both of them get it or neither one gets it. In one instance though I know for sure that one got it and one didn't even though it's the same computer. That seems to be the exception to the rule and more often than not they both get it or they both don't.

I may get a message from someone, then an hour later they send another message that I don't get and then they may send a third message that I do get. It is very random and it may be an original message that someone sends that I don't get or it may be a reply to my e-mail that I don't get. It's not just happening with one person either, I know of at least several people that send me stuff that I may or may not ever get.

The computer is up to date on maintenance/virus scans etc. I've gone to the web directly to my providers server and I don't have an accumulation of messages there. When I spoke with my provider they didn't have any immediate answers for me but they'll check in with me later they said. They asked if I could get the senders to send an SMTP log to trace the messages from the source but it seems unusual to me since this is happening with multiple sources not just one (sender).

It's really hard to be in this situation because the messages aren't gettin... Read more

Hi Guys,

I am dealing with a mailbox where emails just seem to be refused when they could be vaguely spam like. The server is a private mail server (not Gmail etc). I have tried sending a load of spam to get account through a spam tester. 7 emails sent from the spam tester. A few got through and delivered to the inbox which, whilst isn't brilliant, is better than not getting them at all. 2/3 of them simply were not received at all. This is on a brand new Thunderbird set up using IMAP.

I am running Outlook 2016 on an HP laptop, purchased new November 2015, with Windows 7 Professional and MS Office. Outlook stopped receiving messages automatically about 3 weeks ago. I went into file/options/advanced. It looks like everything is set up for automatic receive whether online or offline. When I click on the send/receive all folders button, a window opens, the green bar runs halfway across while ?task 1 of 2? displays. The window then closes. I?m guessing the ?send? task is working but ?receive? is not. The problem has been worsening. I can go days without messages showing up in Outlook.

In order to read messages I need to open Comcast Xfinity email. Thinking the problem was too little space I deleted old messages and emptied the trashcan. My usage is now just 10% of my allocation. There is no problem with Comcast (as far as I can determine) but incoming messages are not showing up in Outlook.

I rebooted and received a number of Windows updates. The problem continues.

As I mentioned, this started about 3 weeks ago. I haven?t loaded new software or made other changes aside from the Windows updates. Does anyone have a fix for this?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

My husband recently tried re-installing Windows Live OneCare -- we'd had it installed previously, but he'd had to replace his hard drive because it crashed and then had to re-install all programs. We experienced a problem registering Live OneCare, so we were working with Microsoft Tech Support to resolve that issue. One of the steps that they had us try in troubleshooting was to download and run a registry cleaner. We were finally able to install Live OneCare -- still having problems registering, but that's an issue for Microsoft Tech Support to help us resolve -- but now Outlook on my husband's computer is unable to receive e-mail from our ISP's mail server. He can send messages just fine, but not receive them. The error message he's getting is 0X800CCC90. Does this problem ring a bell with any of you? Our ISP has been unable to fix the problem. This is quite frustrating. . .

Thanks for any suggestions you could provide. =)

At start up I have my home page set to in the certain website, however I keep getting redirected to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=76277. Then I must stop navigation by clicking the 'X' located in the tab. After which I am only able to access my home page by retyping the address in the address bar and google search pg www.google.com. Any other attempts to navigate any & all other websites via Internet Explorer bring up the following issues and messages.

I am receiving many double and triple inbound messages on one of my POP3 accounts. My other mail accounts with the same ISP are fine. I just clicked on Send/Receive today and it wants to download another 441 messages, so I had to stop it. My INBOX for this account is up to date, it already has messages up to MAR 04, 2009. I have the account set to delete from server when deleted from DELETED ITEMS folder. This problem just started on MAR 03, 2009.

More than likely you are infectedPlease follow these instructions:Please read the pinned topic titled "Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A DDS / HJT Log". If you cannot complete a step, then skip it and continue with the next. In Step 6 there are instructions for downloading and running DDS which will create a Pseudo HJT Report as part of its log. When you have done that, post your log in the Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs forum, NOT here, for assistance by the Malware Removal Team Experts. A member of the Team will walk you through, step by step, on how to clean your computer. If you post your log back in this thread, the response from the Malware Response Team will be delayed because your post will have to be moved. This means it will fall in line behind any others posted that same day.The MR team is very busy and it will take awhile to get to your postPlease be patient and good luck

Hi I am new to this forum, so please bear with me. Could anyone help with an annoying problem I am receiving countless error messages -yellow triangle- informing me that almost every application I go into is corrupted. It then informs me to utilise the chkdsk facility via the run command in the start menu. I have done this and it gives me the usual message of system is in use run chkdsk on reboot etc. I always type Y , but on the reebot I get a blue screen informing me that my op system is NTFS and this cannot be locked or checked, leaving me back to square one. How do I use my chkdsk to address these corrupted files. Any advice welcome. Many thanks Tom

I use Outlook 2002 and our email server is through Dreamhost. Lately, one of my coworkers has been opening his Outlook to find upwards towards 100 copies of each email he's receiving. I have:

- contacted Dreamhost and they told me there is no problem on their side.
- deleted his email account after exporting all of his email information to a new .pst folder, restarted his computer and then created a new account in Outlook (didn't work)
- deleted his email account off of Dreamhost and recreated it (still did not work)

I don't know a whole lot about email servers and was hoping someone has some idea of what to do to alleviate this issue? I can't find anything when I google that I haven't done already.

A:Receiving multiple copies of email messages

Hi erinlmichael

See if anything in these articles helps:

You are prompted for your password, and you may receive duplicate e-mail messages if your profile has two POP3 accounts in Outlook

Duplicate e-mail messages are downloaded from a POP3 e-mail server account in Outlook 2003

Also try disabling email scanning if it is currently enabled, to see if that makes a difference.

Let us know what happens.

I started receiving these messages from Comcast's "constant guard" service about a week or two ago saying that my computer, or another on my network, may be infected with a "bot." I have received this message maybe 5 or 6 times since then. I apologize for not having the exact wording of the message to paste in here, but it has been several days since it has popped up. I am not having any problems with my computer. However, maybe a week before the messages started popping up, my gmail account did get hacked into and sent out messages to a lot of people in my address book over a period of about 10 minutes before I figured out what was going on and changed my password. My computer is a fairly new (maybe 6 months old) samsung laptop model NP300VSA- A02US and is running windows 7 62bit. I was running internet explorer 8.0 at the time all this happened. I only have two computers on my home network (just a normal comcast wireless router): the samsung laptop which I use all the time, and my 10 year old Dell desktop, which I very rarely use. I am pasting the text from my DDS.txt file below and attaching the attach.txt file. I hope that this is enough information for you to let me know if I am infected. Please let me know if there is anything else you require.

THank you immensely for your time and effort. It is very much appreciated!

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer

After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
Choose your usual account.

In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All,
Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the script.

It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.

Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.

Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt

I have been on his computer and found that he is sending HTML messages (not RTF). I also tried changing my email settings in his address book send plian text only to me. Nothing.

I found update KB905866 on my update list. I read that this was a Windows Mail update for spam. I deleted it and I am still having the problem.

A couple of my business associates have claimed to have

These are specific emails which I sent to 1 person but
a 2nd person is claiming to have received as BCC. What is most
painful is that almost all these emails are of confidential nature

Why is this happening. Can I disable BCC completely. BCC header has been disabled from my side but I am sure this worm/virus will not be obstructed from simply disabling from the main messaging window

Any assistance from the Net gurus will be appreciated

I have heard of this happening to a few friends of mine and their Mail providers said it was a 'minor problem' with the actual mail package and not a virus.

I see new emails coming in but after some seconds they are automatically remove themselves from my mailbox. I don?t have any rules configured that would move or delete these items.
How can I get this to stop and get to those messages?

There are 3 common scenarios in which this could happen.
Unread Messages filter
If you are looking at your mailbox via a filtered view or via the Unread Mail Search Folder and also have the option configured to automatically mark emails as read after x seconds, then it could happen that the messages automatically disappear when they get marked as read.

This takes hours, of course. The end result is another blue screen error message, "c000021a unknown hard error." So I switched to Safe Mode when I started booting up. Same result, after running CHKDSK. Now I'm doing it in Safe Mode with a network prompt, but I have a feeling the same will happen. I also tried System Restore, but that didn't work either.

If I get a new hard drive, can I transfer the files/programs currently on my PC to it?

If so, where would I purchase a hard drive and get it installed? I'm not going to do it myself; I'm not good at that kind of thing.

How much would this cost? And how would I transfer the files/programs?

Hey mate,

Im not really sure. May be a cluster error or something like that.
I believe you can get another HDD install XP in it, then plug your old hard drive and you will be able to copy the stuff in it. The best thing is to skip the scan I guess. I know that this isnt good, but it looks to me as if you dont have any other option.
Thats what I would do.
As for the place of installing and cost Im not really sure coz Im not in the US.

I have scanned my computer using McAfee Security Center, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Ad-Aware 2008. All scans fail to recognize any problems on my computer. I don’t know how to stop this error message from popping up constantly.

I told McAfee to shred “C:/Windows/prefetch/agent.exe-09399BD3.pf and it said that I needed to restart my computer to complete shredding. I restarted my computer and am still receiving the error message. I searched for "AGENT.EXE" again and it appears that the file HAS been successfully shredded.

Hi There

I have just purchased and taken delivery of a new Dell Studio 1555 Laptop. It is my first time running Vista (Home Premium) and being honest it's taking me a while to find my way around it.

As with all Dells it came with McAfee trial version installed. I have run AVG Free in the past and found it to be adequate enough. I therefore uninstalled McAfee (using the necessary download to do it properly) and installed AVG Free. When this was downloaded I was then greeted with the following error message when I tried to open / install the program:

"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150004). Click OK to terminate the application." On doing this it then searches for a solution and does not find one.

I thought that this was an error with AVG so I have since uninstalled and re-installed again, looked at various forums for solutions and found nothing that works. AVG site suggests disabling components of Vista and trying again which i have tried to no avail... same problem. I now have no virus software and cannot get AVG to switch on.. this error just comes up each time i turn on the computure.

I contacted Dell support.. The guy on the end did not know what it was. Ran diagnostics on my hardware which appearently showed that there was no hardware issue.

On looking around further it turns out that others have been greeted with this error with other applications too.... it's not a problem with AVG and no solutions seems to be found. The o... Read more

Yesterday I posted about how my PC was trying to reinstall windows for some reason. Eventually, I went through with it and as it turns out it must have beena repair install because nothing was lost.

However, the computer is freezing up and rarely booting (I'm hoping I can get some responses to this thread before it crashes again and I might not be able to reboot).

Upon restarting, I've had the following error messages:

"following file is missing or corrupt:

"<windows root>\system32.hal.dll
(reinstall a copy of the above file)"

What to do? Total novice here, I have no idea what I'm doing. Also, I'm trying to back a few things up incase it goes into total meltdown but my external harddrive isn't being recognised. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello guys,

I googled for these symptoms everywhere but could not find anything.
I would deeply appreciate any help I could get on this.
It all started 2 days ago, I turned my PC usually and proceeded to work. I have a habit of looking at task manager every several minutes, just to make sure of things. So I saw several copies of Winlogon.exe Normally that would not be a problem, but I am not running several user accounts on this PC and therefore I did not expect to see several winlogon.exe-s. Well, I let it slip and the next thing I know there are 130 Winlogon.exe running.
I rolled system 2 days back but the same thing happened. At some point (around 200 proccesses) winlogons crash and leave only 4-5 of them hanging in process list.
As I found out the day after, not only winlogon.exe is affected. Same happens when I run firefox. It took me 20 minutes to get on the forum alone. Right now all winlogon.exe-s died but i have around 70 firefox.exe running, but only 1 actual browser window. I can see which one of those is actual browser window because I can see proportionally more memory that it is using. When I started up firefox they kept spawning around up to 150 copies and then started crashing.

I am attaching the copy of dxdiag.

Please advise on this, I could just reinstall windows, but I am very interested what might cause this behavior.

Thanks to all that care. I'm like a biology professor looking at these multiplying:))

Lately when I have tried to open an installation EXE for a vocaloid, it would execute the file over and over again (confirmed by checking the processes in the windows task manager). It started once I downloaded Daemon Tools Lite and I have since then deleted that and the vocaloid installation. I think that may have fixed the problem but I would still like to see if there are any lingering problems that may pop up later on.
Also, I am pretty sure I have access to a windows Boot CD but I am not 100% sure.
