Yoga 720 USB C to HDMI is faulty

Q: Yoga 720 USB C to HDMI is faulty

I bought my Lenovo Yoga 720 on December last year, since I been travelling I haven't made a lot of recreational use until lately that I bought an HDMI adapter to use in the USB C but it doesn't work because when you connect the adapter it can't fit right because the USB C outlet is like moved 1 mm from the whole, so the adapter can't fit right and it the image on the screen comes and go, it's a faulty connection. How can I fix this?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A recent power outage has caused some of my hardware to function oddly...
My tv's hdmi ports seem to still work for say a ps3, but when hooking up to my gtx 760 I get "No Signal"?
I only have one hdmi port but several other dvi ports. My smaller monitor(plugged into dvi port 1) is functioning normally. It also seems the gpu is still functioning because I booted Dota 2 just fine with 60fps(vsync). Could this outage have fried the hdmi port? Should I be worried, should I return it or just buckle down with 2 dvi connectors? I was gonna test out hdmi to dvi cables to test my theory but am unsure what to do otherwise.

Hi guys this is my first post as im at a loss of what to do .
Recently my old monitor stopped working, it was using a VGA cable, but the cable is not the problem, my PC is. I bought a new monitor which requires HDMI, however the port on my PC will not respond to the cord, meaning I have no monitor :/ or anyway to troubleshoot. The only thing I can think of would be to buy a USB to HDMI adapter? But even then I would need a monitor to install the device surely. I would usually take it to the shop, but with lockdown I am lost and without a PC for the forseeable future, help would be appretiated!

A:Faulty HDMI Port- 'No signal'

Hi Warro, and welcome to TSG.

I don't think anyone here can give you much help without knowing:

1: Name of the manufacturer and exact model number of your computer and/or the motherboard.

2: Name of the manufacturer and exact model number of any video controller expansion card (the card itself, not the manufacturer and model number of the graphics IC) plugged into the motherboard.

3: The operating system running the PC.

I purchased an external monitor on Friday.  It worked on Friday and Saturday. Sunday when I booted up, the external monitor no longer worked. The history appears to show an automatic update occurred overnight.  I was running Windows 8.1.  I upgraded to 10.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the intel video driver, I reinstalled the chipset driver.  I have trimmed the micro HDMI cord as suggested in one of the posts.  I have seen enough posts on the various boards to know my issue does not seem to be an isolated case... but I haven't been able to find an explanation of the cause or a reliable solution.  Any help is appreciated.

Hello everyone, I bought my laptop in December of 2017. As soon as I turned it on I got blue screen error. Every time when I turned it on, few minutes later I got BSOD. I informed the service and sent the laptop back. I live abroad so it already past one month and couldn't get a new laptop, sent it just for repair. After I got it back from repair, which takes about a month to get it where I live (outside of US), I still get blue screen errors. Same issue, not fixed. I did what service team told me to do, no solutions. It has been 5 month and I haven't been able to use my new laptop yet. Question: What should I do to get a new laptop?

Hello. After a lot of posts about this and nobody replying, I've finally found where is the problem. We are talking about black screen flickering. Like it gets black for a milisecond. It happens ONLY on battery. It gets worse as battery discharges.Enabling discrete nVidia GPU only supercharges flickering.Connecting to TV via HDMI cable when laptop is on battery will make TV shows snowing effect. No any problems on AC power. Is it the battery or screen?I am asking because I am going to buy a new battery and I am not sure if it will be worth that because batteries for Yoga 500* are really expensive. *500-14ISK

My Yoga 500s power button is no longer working. I took it to be repaired and the man (whose competence I now doubt) said he had found a micro switch loose in the case and he didn't know where it came from.  Does anyone know if the power button can be replaced? If so where do I get a replacement and how do I do it? Id also like to know if there's a way to turn the laptop on without the power button.

It is now the fifth laptop that I received after I had to return the faulty ones before. 4/5 had white pixel erros. 1/5 had scratches in the display. 2/5 had a tilted keyboard mechanics and rattled when typing on that respective area. Then they all come with the faulty BIOS with flickering keyboard. Guys: Are you shipping alpha-beta quality? These ones should be for business users that expect to receive a solid unit that shows the good old mechanic and software build strength. But neither is the case.. Does anyone is also experiencing this horror? I'm deeply disappointed and my trust in the ThinkPad and Lenvo trade mark itself is reducing with every next faulty und buggy hardware.

Bought the laptop in 2016. Went through 2016 and 2017 without a problem. But since the end of 2018, around September-October, the laptop hangs on me a lot. Even on a simple task like opening the battery settings. Today, it froze after 2 minutes of usage !!! Went to staples, because I have an extended warranty with them, in 2018 (the first sign of the problem )and got my laptop back yesterday after my second time with them ( last week )  The main problem is that when The yoga 710 freeze, the only option to make it close or restart is to do a hard shut down. But even with this option, a lot of time, it gets into a bootloop. I need to hard shut down 3-4 times before getting into recovery mode. Even in recovery mode, the laptop has problem rebooting. Sometimes I can't even use the restore option. Last week I tried to reinstall windows with a USB ( media creation tool blablabla ) and it got stuck at 11% 3 times !!! Bought a USB C to HDMI adapter. Works on three different monitors with both a (7th gen) Razer Blade Stealth and a Yoga 900 Signature Edition but not a brand new Yoga 910 (with UHD panel.) Using the same cable for all; it's HDMI 2.0 just in case. All drivers, BIOS, firmware is up to date on the 910. Validated basic USB functionality on the 910 port with a USB C to A adapter (i.e. USB headphones work just fine.)  Tried both the Lenovo graphics drivers and the most up to date generic Intel graphics drivers; (neither work so I reverted back to Lenovo drivers.) I'd like to get 4k working eventually but right now not even 1080p output to external is working. Tried all display scaling options. In the Intel HD Graphics control panel, the device does seem to recognize the model of the external monitor, but it's not outputting anything (i.e. when I switch to clone or extended desktop, it immediately sets itself back to single display mode.) Any ideas? Thank you!

This is what happens: After a few hours of operation, svchost.exe crashes

Doesn't matter what I'm doing; Gaming, surfing, you name it.
Faulting module svchost.exe, version 5.1.2600.5512, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, faulty address 0x00000000.

A few seconds will pass as I accept, and my theme will change from the start blue one to the old grey one in a few seconds and then reset to the standard XP one.

Here's what I know so far: When this happens crashes, it takes Windows Audio and a few other services with it, which I have to start again using Run/services.msc. I know which instance contains the Windows Audio service, so the problem is most likely with one of the services hosted within that particular instance of svchost.

I'm a bit lost, though. I don't know what to do because it doesn't give me an address, it doesn't tell me which service is messing up, so I need some help. I have the windows error log and a decent recollection of what has happened since that error started: I got a new X-fi sound card, a Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion. The errors coincide with me installing that card, but I can't see how that would mess up like this, though.

I don't know if I'm totally off the mark here, but is it fair to assume that it is only ONE instance of svchost crashing? The screenshot above shows the svchost hosting the services that go down after the crash. I have a saved version of th... Read more

My Yoga 13 doesn't seem to want to work with HDMI, or my TV doesn't want to. I'm not sure. I have an APEX Digital TV and obviously my Yoga 13 and an HDMI cable but for some reason when I plug my Yoga into the TV, the signal doesn't go through. I know my Yoga has worked with HDMI before cause just two days ago I plugged it into my friends TV and it worked perfectly right away. I know the HDMI cable I have works fine because I use it for my Xbox all the time and it works perfectly and with no issues. So maybe it's the TV? I'm not sure. Hi Brillat,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with No Audio coming from TV when connected to Lenovo Yoga S1.

Machine with discrete graphic card - just choose NVidia HD audio as playback device after connecting your display.
Machine with integrated graphic card - the trick is to go to Control Panel > Sound control panel > Right click on your TV > Select 'Set as Default Device'.  Then you should start hearing audio out from the TV speakers, and the green sound volume meter beside the TV in the Sound Control Panel should start responding to the audio you're playing.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

I believe the initial crash was caused by overheating. Based on the fact that I have gotten it to work for a short amount of time, more on that later. Booting up with the drivers for my graphics card enabled causes BSOD to appear but when it is disabled everything is fine. I can boot into safe mode, and I have already reinstalled windows. My motherboard is Asus B85M-e and my graphics card is Nvidia EV3A GTX 590.
How I got it to work for a short amount of time : I reinstalled windows and then installed my integrated Ethernet driver. After that was out of the way I installed and used driver booster to install the rest of my drivers. I then noticed there was a missing driver that the program could not install that was named Simple PCI Controller. So I thought I should install that driver using my motherboard's driver installation disk. It then worked up until I decided to change the settings in Nvidia Control panel.
I also do not know how faulty graphics cards behave so it might be my graphics card. The game I was playing when this started was Life is Strange if that is needed.

Hi,
I recently bought a new, 3rd party power cord for my Toshiba Satellite L300 from eBay.
Recently I've noticed that my battery stops charging earlier and earlier. At first it stopped at 87%, then 83%, then 80% all in one week. I've had the computer for about a year which seems a bit early for it to start degrading so fast, so could it be the power cord?

The Toshiba cord says Model: PA-1750-29, Input: 100-240V~ 50-60Hz 1.5A, Output: 19V[solid line above a dotted line]3.95A
The 3rd party cord says Model: PA-34671ACA, Input: 100-240V~1.5A 50/60Hz, Output: 19V[solid over dotted]3.95A

If the new cord is harmful to my battery, I can just solder its input plug onto the Toshiba charger (that's the only bit that was broken) but I'd rather not risk breaking two power cords if I don't need to.

Thanks,
Marlon

Sorry that this is quite long, but I want to give complete details as to the problem rather than just giving a vague problem...
Nvidia 8500GT card has been overclocked for the last year:

Original: 450, 900, 400
Stable OC: 690, 1380, 547

Before you panic, it's been stable and temps have been fine (<70). My motherboard is a Asus P5N-E SLI board. The computer is dual boot to Vista (for general use) and XP x64 (for games). ONLY XP IS OVERCLOCKED. Vista is not overclocked at all. Only the GPU is overclocked in the computer.

Now, the problems started when I moved the computer. All the games on x64 crashed unless I underclocked the machine, except UT (ancient game) which garbled the graphics (weapon textures on walls etc). I found out it was because somehow the card wasn't plugged in properly - so I pushed it back and I was able to play again.

Since then, sometimes the card is alright and other times it isn't. The other day I was playing fallout (graphics intensive game) for around 3 hours without any problems. But right now, I boot to vista and within a minute it crashes. Other times I was programming (not even using graphics) and the mouse suddenly has a flickering box around it - then the computer crashes.

When it crashes, the screen goes weird colours (like its rendered the screen as 4 bit colours rather than 32 bit) and shortly after I get a blue screen with it complaining about a graphics DLL.

At first, giving the card a wiggle in the PCI-E slot fixed... Read more

Is there any way to get higher than 1080p resolution on an external monitor through HDMI from a Yogo 150 14-IKB? I've just bought a monitor that can do up to 2560x1440 @ 60Hz (as it can when connected to my other laptop which has a 16" screen that natively runs 1366x768, using AMD Radeon R5 graphics) but it appears that the Yoga 520-14IKB can't do so. What I've tried so far is to update the drivers on the Yoga for my new monitor, so that Windows 10 doesn't use the default PnP monitor driver, but this didn't immediately unlock any other settings. The default maximum resolution through the output is 1920x1080, which means that pixel size on the external (24") monitor is >1.5x pixel size on my laptop screen (14"). I've looked at the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel (as it runs Intel HD 610 graphics), and I can add this extra resolution as a custom resolution, but the monitor claims the signal is out of range when I try the 2560x1440 (60Hz) that I can get from the other graphics chipset. Is there anything else to try?

Actually, though further inspection on my 15.6" laptop, the output is downsampled in software before going through HDMI at a 1920x1080 resolution, which is what the monitor can use, so it looks like it might be a driver issue rather than anything hardware related.

I am looking for a new laptop.   Considering the Yoga 900.  One of the things I do a LOT is connect my laptop HDMI out to the HDMI in port on my tv.  In fact, I have a 15ft HDMI cable that I leave plugged in to a HDMI port on my tv.  WHen we want to watch something online, I just plug the cable in and off we go.  I don't see any kind of HDMI out port on the Yoga 900.  How would I make this connection to my television?

A:Yoga 900 - no HDMI out? How to connect to TV port?

Hello and welcome,

The base spec says this:  optional HDMI-out (via USB 3.0 Type-C to HDMI adapter)

I don't have any way to test one of those but The Google says they are availble.  Here's one example:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X4S5C7G?gclid=CIrih6vq_MgCFY9bfgodjqILqw
