Lenovo h50-55 power supply and graphic card upgrade

Q: Lenovo h50-55 power supply and graphic card upgrade

Hi everybody! I have a lenovo h50-55 amd A10 and last night I upgrade it with a corsair CX650M power supply and a EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB graphic card! I bought the power supply 80$ after taxis from Best Buy and my graphic card 280$ after taxis from Amazon. The truth is that wasn?t sure if all that is going to work together and I mean with my cpu and motherboard and I couldn?t find any information on internet to make sure that card is compatible with my system so that means I literally took a risk to invest to upgrade my pc and that?s the reason I?m writing that post! The installation was easy and the results excellent! Everything fit in the case The only i was needed is a 24 to 14 pin adapter to connect my motherboard! Everything works perfect and I suggest to everyone who have this PC and want a good upgrade to do it! I hope with this post to help whoever have doubts to upgrade this model! Thanks and good luck!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It's been a while since I built a system from scratch and have a... errr... simple question

gfx: Sapphire HD3850 512MB Ultimate (passive)

MB: MSI P35 Neo2 FIR
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=1261&maincat_no=1

PSU: Seasonic M12II 500W
http://www.seasonic.com/product/pc_retail.jsp

The motherboard has a power connector for the graphic card next to the slot.

Is there any reason I should connect the power for the card to the power connector on the board instead of directly to the power supply?

A:Graphic card power to power supply or connector on motherboard?

First time I have ever seen that feature. I like it. I'm thinking that is a neat/easy way to partially eliminate cable clutter from the PSU. Give it a shot, you can always revert to PSU cable if you wish.

A:Power Supply/Graphic Card Questions

Don't get a modular PSU if you're not really, really, really persistent about having one or two cables less inside the case. It's just not worht the extra price, and the loss of power the cables cause, and the multi-rail design instead of the rock-solid single rail desing. Get this instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005 or this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703005 even cheaper and well enough.
You'll need to post the model number of the HP, but I would say it fits. Also... I would still recommend a new case. HP cases do not have enough airflow for high-end components like (well, mid-high) 9800 GTX+.

Hello.
I am deciding that is time to update my graphic card and my power supply. I have some question and some help from you to help me decide to get the latest and good graphic card on a good money budget value.

My resolution is 1440x900. I play several games and looking for a graphic card that can at least handle with high settings at this resolution.
I did some research and found a couple of review and feedback about ATI 5750. My question is, is this card worth the money for gaming? The game i usually play is MW2 (the one i have trouble playing max settings with my current graphic card) TF2, League of Legends, and possibly the new upcoming game Call of Duty Blackops.

Will ATI 5750 worth the money and run all my games smooth or there is another better graphic card out there that outperforms this one?
Currently i also need to uppgrade to a new power supply. Any recommendation of a power supply and a graphic card?
My money budget is up to $250 max for both items.

Any help and comment will really appreciate it.

Thanks

Are the connectors and everything fully compatible? Also, is that power suply has the correct connectors and everything for this graphic card the GTX 1080? I really need an answer, I'm a bit afraid, because i bought the power supply and the motherboard already for my pc gaming built and I can't afford another power supply. Hi Lenovo, I've recently been trying to upgrade my H30-50s graphics card. In fact, I've bought the wrong card twice from misguided advice. Ended up buying 2 cards that were 12cm instead of the needed 7cm or so. Believe me, that's been frustrating enough. Anyway, I've finally found a card that'll fit. It's MSI's low profile 750ti. Its got plenty of power. Looks great. Hopefully should fit. Here's the link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-Nvidia-750Ti-Graphics-Dvi-D/dp/B00ZA1IFGA/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8... Wattage on Amazon says 400W. Wattage on Nvidia website says 300W. As far as I'm aware, the H30-50 has a 240W PSU? Is this graphics card an absolute no-go? I have the i3-4160 model. 12gb ram, upgraded with 8gb recently. 1TB HDD.  If this is not a possibility, is it possible to upgrade the PSU considering how slimline these pcs are? I'd much rather find a new PSU than have to try and find another, decent specification, low profile graphics card. Any ideas? Thanks.

I'm getting a new computer and found one that does everything I need...BUT...its graphics capabilities are only mediocre. SO...I also purchased a spiffy high-end card. BUT..now I read that this card requires a big power supply, preferably something over 600watts and ideally 800 with the "rails" to run it. SO....is that true? And if so, how much power should I get? The computer has 300watts.

The card is a EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked 896MB and you can read the specs on the link to the page at TigerDirect where I got it. Please advise. Thanks!

I want to upgrade my video card from Intel(R) HD Graphics Family

As far as I can tell I currently have 64mb which leaves me below or at the bare bones settings for almost anything. I would like to get that up to 258 and I am 100% in the dark about how to do that and hopefully not have to get a new power and cooling supply for my computer.

Hi,
look in the BIOS of your pc, there should be a option to configure to have more video shared RAM.

If you post your complete pc specs, I can help you more...

Note that increasing video RAM will not boost graphics performance, since this is a integrated GPU.

My brother got me a GeForce GTX 460 SE without realizing that I didn't have enough power in my power supply. So my question is: can I upgrade my power supply? I have an HP Pavillion Elite 350t (HPE-350t). Or if I can't upgrade it, do you have any good recommendations for a 300w power supply? The best ones for the Sims 3 & expansions seem to need more power, or are no longer supported by EA - at least ones from Nvidia, I still need to check ATI, but I've always used Nvidia cards, so I'm more comfortable with them. I've been working on this for weeks, and I can't get straight answers from people I know, so my PC's just sitting in my room, open, as I was working on it for a long time and don't want to close it up until this is all figured out. Thank goodness I have my Macbook, lol.

Thanks for any help I can get.

If it helps, I do watch movies on it, edit/record video, edit photos, etc. I also sometimes record audio. Do you want me to post any specs? I can also post pics of the inside of the PC if it'll help.

Hi i was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a 2GB video card that may fit my unit and if also the psu has to be of a certain type, thanks.

A:Video card upgrade and power supply

@Docta1?, welcome to the forum. Here is a video card that will definitely work with your computer. The power supply unit (PSU) in the computer is stanard ATX.  I like Corsair products and recommend at least 600W.   A modular PSU is good for small cases.  It allows you to use only the cables that are absolutely necessary.  This allows for better airflow.  The video card in my link requires an additional 6-pin power connector. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Have the Dell XPS 420 computer and wanted to finally upgrade the Video card and figured I need to upgrade the low Power Supply too.

Computer right now has:
You Have: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
You Have: GeForce 9800 GT
Think Power Supply is 375 watt
Windows 7
4gigs of Ram.

Heard from others that my CPU will be a bottleneck for newer Video Cards so I honestly dont know where to start. Not sure how to figure if 1 video card is better than another one.

And likely need a bigger powersupply to run whatever new video card I get too. And need to get something that will fit in my dell case.

Just started playing Metro 2033 and playing it on High but course want to play it on Very High with any screen tear and slow down and of course other games as well.

Maybe so but that shouldn't stop you from getting a better GPU than the one you currently have. Depending on the game you play (non-CPU dependent) there will be plenty of GPU upgrade room with a Q6600.

From what I can tell Metro 2033 is not a CPU dependent game.

I currently own the Sony Vaio (Profile ) with an extra hard drive added to it. I was looking to upgrade my video card to the ATI Radeon 9800Pro which will give good gaming capabilities in addition to supporting dual displays. The ATI recommends a power supply of at least 300W. The desktop came standard with a power supply of 295W max output. I've questioned some people about the ability for this card to run on a power supply of only 295W and was actually given advice by one to upgrade my power supply before using this (or any other of equal quality) video card.

Would anyone here recommend the same thing? Is 295 just too little power for a computer running 2 optical drives, 2 hard drives, and this type of video output? If so, does anyone have experience with Sony's power supplies? Are they pretty much standard or would I need to order one direct from Sony?

Any help anyone can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

ATI Radeon X300 SE ( PCI Express 16 ) 128MB Video < ---------
300 Watt Power Supply <--------

My question is about the two arrows above.

I want to upgrade to either an ATI X700 Pro or a nVidia 6600GT Video card as the ATI X300SE is the most basic PCIE card there is and acts like it. After a bunch of research i've pretty much figured out that my 300watt is not going to cut it. I bought a 500watt power supply from Gateway ( the maker of the PC ) after consulting with them and assured it would work..... it didn't. It had to be returned.

My question(s) are.....

What power-supply will do the job? and do I really need to upgrade the power- supply to get this card?

Ohhhh and one other question.... My DVD+RW is the Master and the ROM is the slave... will I get any performance boost if I reverse this? ( SATA HD is on a different channel ).

I am on a budget so anything over $225 including a new Power-Supply is simply out of the question. I am not a Serious Gamer but I do like to play some graphic-intensive games from time to time ( Splinter-Cell, GTA3, GTA Vice-City and soon GTA San Andreas ).

Hello, I would like to upgrade this computer to a EVGA gtx 1060 sigle cooler,( 6.80" x 4.38") gpu.  I want to know if I can fit the card in my system. I am aware that I will need a new power supply due to the fact that a 180w psu will not cut it with this card. Can anyone suggest a power supply that will be sufficient enough to power the computer, coming with all the right cables?

Hi everybody!  I have a lenovo h50-55 amd A10 and last night I upgrade it with a corsair CX650M power supply and a EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB  [SC GAMING, single fan, model # 06G-P4-6163-KR]  graphic card! Everything fit in the case.  The only i was needed is a 24 to 14 pin adapter cable [from Amazon] to connect my motherboard!  Everything works perfect and I suggest to everyone who have this PC and want a good upgrade to do it!  I hope with this post to help whoever have doubts to upgrade this model!  Thanks and good luck!

Intel HD Graphics 4400The stock 300W PSUDell 088DT1 MotherboardI've read that some manufactures "lock" the computer down by using a custom motherboard that prevents you from upgrading it. I'm trying to upgrade this PC by installing:MSI Radeon RX 470 DirectX 12 Radeon RX 470 ARMOR 4G OC 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video CardCORSAIR CX Series CX600 600W 80 PLUS BRONZE Active PFC ATX12V & EPS12V Power SupplyAre these parts compatible? I know the motherboard is sort of old, but I don't really want to have to spend the extra cash to replace it. There's also a sale that ends in 12 hours on the PSU I'm looking at, so a quick reply would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I recently purchased a refurbished Optiplex 7010 MT. Core i7 3.40GHz 4GB RAM, 250GB HDD, DVDRW, 7P Minor side issue: I have already ordered the memory to upgrade it to 32GB RAM based on the advice of the store that sold it to me and Crucial.  Unfortunately, if I read the dell-optiplex-7010-manual-en.pdf right.  It can take 8gb RAM but only two of them for a total of 16gb.   Is it possible to utilize all four 8gb DIMM?   If not, the importance of the speed of the graphics has become even more important.
I need to upgrade the power supply and video card to run Adobe software -- Photoshop, etc. Based on prior experience, I need the fastest possible graphics option.    I'm thrifty but not stingy ... if I can get a racehorse for a bit more then I will.
The video card that I'm thinking about buying is the GEForce GT 640 recommended by Dell. Is there a specific version since the specifications also say "(OHGA3/M209N)"? I would prefer to be able to use a card with more memory but still PCIe 3.0 which appears to be much faster than the PCIe 2.0. If there is a better card out there, please let me know.
The power supply is standard. Since this is April 2016, the Dell recommended Corsair 650TX appears to be hard to get at best, Is there another power supply that would work?
Thank you for your help. Much appreciated!

Hello!

I'm currently running on an eMachines ET1831-07, and as such have a 250w power supply and just a chipset. (I have no idea what I'm talking about, this is what my fiancé told me to post. I trust him because he's a computer science major >.>) I was wondering if there's a power supply with 300w output that I can upgrade to without.. Err.. Melting my motherboard, since the only graphics cards I can find that he says will make any difference on my game quality require 300w.

I'm not looking for max fps, or high quality graphics or anything, I just want the games to be playable.

Thanks much!
~Hannah

Edit: If anyone could also recommend a graphics card that I could use, I'd really appreciate that too! I have one PCI 16 pin slot open, and one PCI express pin slot according to my fiancé. Thank you!

The problem I have is that I dont have two slots free on my mobo. I dont even think I have one . My old ATI X700 PRO didnt need any extra power supply. What can I do? Can I buy a connector to make two or three out of one power slot? Like splittling/dividing the power? Do you know how much my powersupply need to be able to withstand to run this graphics card? I ony have a 300W max Powersupply. How much does a good one cost? Do I even need a new mobo. I have an Asustek mobo (didnt restart so i dont know exactly) and my PC is a hp pavilion a775c.

Thanks again.

Hi. If i change in Windows 10 in Power Management from Balanced to Power Saver is this safe for graphic card?
I change from Balanced to Power Saver and fps in benchmark went from 180fps to 50fps. Is there any hardware related changes due to swap from Balanced to Power Saver ?

A:Windows Power Management - Power Saver - is this safe for graphic card

Power Saver attempts to save power by reducing the CPU’s speed all the time and lowering screen brightness, among other similar settings and that may account for your fps drop when benchmarking. Doesn't sound like a good choice for your purposes.

A:What graphics card will my H520s power supply support (PSU, power calculator)

Use a power supply calculator to get a accurate calculation of your power requirements.   Graphics card manufacturers have to figure a worst case scenario when giving power requirements.

Mod:  removed the Newegg calculator, which only gives a recommended psu size, rather than a power calculation.   The CoolerMaster gives both.

This is my first post on the community and im having trouble upgrading my power supply. I recently purchased an EVGA 400w psu with a standard 20+4 pin atx connector. The lenovo board only supports a 14 pin connection with a 4 pin cpu so i also purchased a 20 to 14 pin adapter for it but have not had any luck getting the computer to boot with the new power supply. i know the problem lies with the connection to the motherboard because it booted properly with the original psu. So my question is: what adjustments need to be made in order to get the proper connection from the power supply, to the adapter, to the board?

Hi everyone, I need some suggestion with my problem. I am facing this problem from nearly a month. The problem is that sometime my laptop does not charge the battery even if it is pluged in. During those time i can only use my laptop untill my battery charge lasts. Which is normally 2 to 4 hour depending on the nature of the work. The only solution to fix this problem is to remove the battery and replacing it and hope for the best. Sometimes just one time doing this solves the problem and battery starts to charge again. However, sometime the process (bettery removal and reattachment) have to be done 5 to 6 time to do the trick. Please also note that if i remove the battery and directly connect the charger there is no problem and i can work. But here we face very frequent power cut so this process is not very benificial.  I believe something is loose in the battery compartment and thats why the bettery does not charge sometime and does sometime. Please let me know what i can do to fix the problem. The laptop is under warrenty but i am not sure if this kind of problem is covered under warrenty.  With regardsGKS

A:Power supply problem in lenovo B40-70

This may be due to a loose connection on the battery, or on the socket it locks into.  Either way - if under warranty I would suggest calling the support line and getting it fixed ASAP... That is the only way to be sure.

Good luck.
