Mail App- Adding other e-mail addresses to the app

Q: Mail App- Adding other e-mail addresses to the app

I was setting up the mail app that came with Windows 8, adding the e-mail addresses I wanted the app to access. After adding my Yahoo Mail address, the app went straight to my Yahoo Mail, and gave me a fleeting message, stating something like:

If you wish to add other email addresses to Mail, you can do so by changing the settings....

Then the notification disappeared before I could read the rest. I've searched for over an hour and I cannot find where in Windows 8 I am able to add email addresses to the Mail app.

Can somebody give me a clue?

Thanks, in advance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've been reading about information rights management using Outlook 2003. And it makes good sense. However, what I wanted to know which IRM doesn't cover is how would I achieve the following control of Outlook on users' PCs / laptops out in the field.

Set up a user with a specific address book containing only the addresses I put in (company addresses) and NOT allow them to add anymore addresses. And NOT be able to type an address into the To: field which was not in the address book.

Then in conjunction with IRM not allowing users to forward or reply to emails if I so choose I have complete control of the mail system in the sense that they can only send mail to internal staff.

Also can Outlook be configured to send / receive over a VPN connection rather than the internet? (I presume it can) We currently downline various bespoke application data to field employees on an overnight basis.

My computer has two Windows Vista login profiles, for myself and my wife.

We each have an email address, let's call them [email protected] and [email protected]

We set up these multiple email addresses according to the advice given by our ISP on how to set up multiple email addresses with Orange (part 1) | help & support | Orange UK (Part 1), and how to set up multiple email addresses (part 2) | help & support | Orange UK (Part 2), at least as far as we could understand it.

The resulting email setup is this:
I have email accounts:
My Account: address [email protected]
There are no message rules affecting this account.
Orange Admin Account: address [email protected]
There is a message rule: don't download from Orange Admin Account if To or CC field contains [email protected] or [email protected]
I also have a mail account [email protected]
My wife has email account:
Wife's account: address [email protected]
There are no message rules affecting this account.

This setup worked perfectly for years, we use Windows Mail, logged into my Vista profile I got only email sent to my address, and my wife, logged into her profile, only got email sent to her address. Then a few weeks ago, email sent to my wife's address suddenly started coming to whichever of us read our email first ? that is, my email account started to malfunction, by downloading email sent to my wife's address. My wife's email account continues to work OK, ie it doesn't read ... Read more

A:Change in Windows Mail behaviour with multiple e-mail addresses?

I think I finally found the difference between my mail settings and those on my backup boot system, when I compared the contents of C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders where details of each email account is stored in a separate text file with extension .oeaccount The difference is simple, but baffling as to why it should have such an effect.

I found that the field "POP3_User_name" was different for "My Account". I almost certainly retyped this on my main system during the recent (and continuing) intermittent unavailability of these Orange servers, and I typed it in the form: surname.freeserve.co.uk However on my backup, it was of the form: [email protected] (which would be considered an error in most circumstances), and on changing it to match on my main system, things are back in working order, ie. in my Vista login profile, I receive only email to [email protected] and not email to [email protected]

On checking the Orange webpages on setting up multiple email accounts, I find that this is indeed what they recommend, but matters are not helped by the Orange pages referring to this field as the "Account name", while Windows Mail (on Accounts/Properties/Servers) calls it the (incoming) "E-mail username". The Orange pages could also be criticised for not drawing explicit attention to the difference between how this field is filled out for the Orange Admin Account, on the... Read more

I have an Excel spreadsheet of contractors. For the majority of the contractors there is more than one email address listed for them. I am attempting to do a mail merge in Word with this data. I have found that if there are multiple e-mail addresses listed in the e-mail cell that word just ignores that row all together and that contractor does not receive any e-mails. Is there any way to make the mail merge send to all addresses, or I would settle to mail to just one at this point , without totally reformatting my excel sheet? I know that I can make multiple entries for the same contractor with each e-mail address listed on a separate row, but this then makes my spreadsheet unusable for other functions within the company. Please Help!

A:Windows Mail not remembering mail addresses

Hi anilthap.

Welcome to the forums.

WM will remember the last 29 addys you have sent mail to. It will also search in you Contacts folder for addys, but it won't do that until you tab or click out of the 'To' box.

One thing that can break WM finding addys in the Contacts folder is improperly moving the folder from Users/username. If you have not done this, then you might try Problem 2 here: Windows Mail problems

Hope this helps. Please keep us posted.

I am with a group that have to send out e-mails to all it's members, and they 'batch' all the addresses, so when I get my message I can read all the other members e-addresses (in blue). I have asked them not to make my address know to other users, but they say they can not do this as it would take to long to send individual e-mails.
Is there a way they can get round this?

A:E-mail Addresses

They could use the BCC (Blind Corbon Copy) feature.
Add one name to the "Send To:" field, and add the rest of the names to the "BCC" field.
Each individual should receive an E-mail, with only their name listed.

There was a recent exchange on a board I belong to between a new member and the moddie. The newbie said he had tried to register using a number of e-mail addresses ending in .net and was bounced every time. "Overzealous?" he asked.

Can someone please give me a step by step procedure to import (or export) my address book from OUTLOOK into WINDOWS MAIL?

A:Import e-mail addresses

Hi Don,

Welcome to the forums.

Like Outlook Express, Windows Mail does not hold your addresses. They are kept in your 'Contacts Folder'. To transfer, you should be able to export your contacts as a CSV file (comma seperated values) and then go to the Contacts folder and import them. You can access the Contacts Folder from WM via Tools/Wndows contacts or Ctrl+Shift+C.

Hope this helps.

They where supposed to be located in contacts from the beginning not the address book since it ended with XP over 7 years ago... When you start typing the email address it will automatically appear in the To: field otherwise just add the contact details and sort them....Its really not a problem since Vista just corrected the database plus its way better and more secure then the old address book database .

I can alter the punctuation in the Address book but the errors remain when I hit a shortcut (f) to get the name and address to come up automatically. Or I can change it before on the e-mail before it is sent but otherwise it won’t be delivered.

A:dots in e-mail addresses

I don't think that this would help- in fact, I'm almost positive that any mail sent without the exact address will not be received, or will result in a "undeliverable" from the server.

The best protection against spam that you can have is to make sure that you read sites' privacy policies VERY carefully, and that you don't place your address out in the open (such as posting it on this site without some kind of fake character in place of the @ so that it would show up as "address#mail.com" or something like that).

I hope this will help you solve your problem, in my case it helped me better than other softwares which leads to security threat

Try this:

-- In Outlook 2007, click "File" menu, and then click "Import and Export", this will open up an Wizard
-- Select the option to Export to a File and click on Next
-- Select Microsoft Excel 97-2003 (or a CSV file) and click on Next
-- Select the folder that your E-mail address resides in and click on Next
-- Click on Browse to select a location and then type the file name that you want to export the information to and then click on Next
-- Here is the important bit – click on Map Custom Fields. This will bring up a list of all the available fields that are available in that folder.
Since we are only interested in Email address, click on Clear Map and then from the Left side click on From: (address) and drag that to the Right list
-- Click on OK
-- Click on Finish

Once done, I then want to add them to Outlook 2010.

A:Create Outlook.com with two different e-mail addresses

If I understand correctly, then I think the alias feature is what you are after. Inside Options (top right hand cog > options) you should find various links to setting up and managing aliases. I think you can setup ten alias addresses to any given account, as long as no one else is using it of course. Note that this count does not decrease even after deleting an alias, but I believe the count does go up slowly every year or so.

You use [email protected] for all your personal correspondence but you do not want your workplace to have that, so instead you create an alias, such as [email protected], and give them that address. All e-mail sent to any one of those addresses will end up in the same account. Each address can be used during the login process and you can send e-mails from either address.

In the past, you could link multiple accounts, but I think this feature has been removed in favour of aliases.

I send committee minutes monthly to 15 addressees using a Windows Live Mail group mail list (called a "Category" by WLM). Yesterday I noticed that my mail was only sent to 8 of the intended recipients, and I had to do a separate mailing to the other 7. Today I prepared a test mailing and found WLM had included 10 of the intended recipients but omitted 5. A 2nd test included 5, omitted 10. A 3rd test included 10, omitted 5. In each case I've looked again at the contents of the Category and seen that it contains all 15 intended recipients. WLM, with no obvious pattern, seems to be arbitrarily omitting addressees each time I send mail to this, as well as other Categories.
This erratic pattern continued with subsequent tests, even with a newly-created test category. Then WLM introduced a new surprise: For several tests it declined to recognize Category names in the To box of message composition windows, popping up the following error message -

What's wrong and how can I fix it? If I key in names one by one, there's no problem, but that's a tedious waste of time compared to group mailing. My OS is Windows 7.

You can import contacts into Windows Live Mail/Hotmail from a CSV (Comma Separated Value file) in Outlook format or Outlook Express format. You just need to export the contacts as a CSV, with the data in the right locations:
For Outlook line must contain 92 columns (cells). The first line is the header which tells what data is in each cell. The following is the first row of the spreadsheet.

554 5.5.0 Remote protocol error"

The IT manager at the domain looked at the code generated when the mail arrived and sent this:

There is something weird in the session established by your server, after notifying of the recipients, your server tries to keep the connection alive (NOOP reset commands); our server only allows for a few reset commands, after which it closes any active connection. (See log below). This is not a normal behavior for email delivery.
