HP 2020 printer CD not recognizing me as admin

Q: HP 2020 printer CD not recognizing me as admin

I just upgraded to a new HP computer and bought a HP 2020 laser jet printer. When I try to do the install with the CD it gets to a certain point and stops telling me that it can't go further because I need to be logged on as administrator. I double checked and I AM logged on as that. I've Googled for answers but can't seem to pinpoint anything.
Have updated my drivers and that didn't seem to help so I'm still stuck.
Does anyone have any solutions for me that might work?
Any help would be most appreciated as it's costing me time and money at this point.
Thanks.
Joe

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hawker, first I'd go to HPs website and download the latest appropriate 32 or 64 bit driver from there. Try temporarily turning UAC off or down then right click on the Setup.exe file for the HP driver and select Run as Administrator. Click the Start button and type UAC into the search box then click User Access Control in the list.

Not sure what the problem might be, maybe you need to buy a new cartridge, http://www.PrinterInkPrices.com has good new and used printer cartridges at low prices, buy the ink again, if the same error keeps coming up then you might have a hardware problem.

I've got a printer that's hooked up to the parallel port at the back of my computer, but the computer refuses to realize that it's there. What is the cause of this?

A:Parallel port not recognizing printer

Could be a number of things:
1. Parallel is disabled in CMOS
2. Device Manager has an error with Parallel Port
3. Your Printer Drivers are corrupt, or partially loaded
4. You have a Virus/Trojan
5. The Printer is off, or has malfunctioned
6. The Parallel cord or computer connection is faulty

Also what is the name and model number of your Printer?
What OS are you running?
And have you thought of updating to a newer USB? (they've been around for years now!)

I've had a printer for a while now, an HP Deskjet 5700 Series. Its worked fine for the past year and a half, and then one day came up with an error message saying that I have the incorrect cartridge for the color cartridge. I know its the right one, and I've taken them out and cleaned everything, even replaced the cartridge, yet I still get the same error. I've talked to HP about this and all they can tell me is to uninstall and reinstall the software for it, which I did, to no avail. Even when the printer is unplugged from any computer, the color cartridge light is still flashing, telling me something is wrong with it. Any help would really be appreciated!

A:HP printer not recognizing wireless connection

If your trying to print wirelessly using your laptop with a Vista OS....the printer driver might not be compatible with Vista. You need to get a printer driver that is compatible with Vista and XP. Since your using your printer on your pc and it works fine then the printer driver is only compatible with Windows XP and not with Vista. Consult the manufacturer of the printer to get the wireless printer driver that is compatible with Vista.

There could be some hardware damage as a result of the power surge/outage. That sort of thing is never good for electronics.

Try running chkdsk /f on the drive at least. Hard shutdowns always lead to file system damage.

How do things look in Device Manager? Are there any red or yellow warnings?

Hi! My name is Laura and I am brand new here.

My problem (or at least the one that I can mention here is that I cannot get my Windows XP to recognize my networked printer.

What I have:

-A brand new iMac (Leopard) in which I have installed Windows XP via Bootcamp.
(I should note that my previous computer was a MacBook Pro (Tiger) with the same configuration and I was able to use my printer through Windows XP.)

- A Linksys WRT54G router (for which I know the IP)

- A Xerox Phaser 6115MFP printer
(It has a static IP. I installed the print drivers in Windows.)

The printer is plugged into the router via an ethernet cable. There is another computer in the house using the printer wirelessly, without issue, so I know the printer is working and hardware configuration is correct.

The Mac side was able to find, and use, the printer with a few clicks. The Windows side won't find the printer.

I've checked Mac forums and the issue does not seem to have anything to do with the Mac or Bootcamp. I sense that this is correct as, mentioned above, I had this same configuration on a previous computer with no issues.

I am able to use the network via Windows to connect to the internet, so I know the router is working and I am connected to it.

I am not networking savvy in the least, so if you do help me, please idiot proof your instructions.

Thank you so much in advance for any and all help.

Hello--
I purchased an HP Pavilion Elite with the new Intel i7 processor. It is not recognizing an Epson Artisan 800 printer that is connected wirelessly to my network.

The wireless LAN connection shows as active on the printer itself. I loaded all the Vista 64-bit drivers and utilities for this printer to the CPU from the Epson website. And the printer is recognized as choice in print menus for documents, etc.

I get an error message from the Epson print manager, however, saying the printer is offline--even when it is turned on and regardless of whether I connect it via an ethernet cable to the CPU itself OR the wireless network router. (I have checked to make sure the ethernet cable is good--it is).

Any suggestions on how to deal with this? Much appreciated.

OK, so I have a 1 yr old Dell XPS M1530 laptop with 32 bit Vista on it. I've been using a Canon Pixma IP3000 for the whole time, but it suddenly stopped working. I called Canon and Dell- Dell says its Canon's problem, and the wonderfully thorough canon guy said it was a usbsys file problem (which he can't fix). He suggested I either (1) browse my vista CD and extract the file, (2) run sfc and the installation disk should fix the offending item, or (3) run a repair install from the installation CD.

1) I tried browsing the CD, but couldn't make heads or tails of it and can't seem to find a "find" command in vista (grrr).

so, I...

Hey guys,
In a Windows server 2008/Win 7 environment.
I have a group of users in Active Directory that I would like to give the right to change properties on network printers. The printers are stand alone network printers installed individually on users computers. I want to give this select group the right
to access properties so they can do minor troubleshooting on these printers.
However, I am having trouble getting these users past the UAC which pops up when I hit 'change printer properties'. Is there a setting in Group Policy which can let a group access these printer properties? I have tried adding the group to the security tab
of the printer but am still having issues.
I hope this is the right place to post this!
Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I know that there are already several threats about this subject, but it does not reflect my problem.
All those threats concern network printers serviced by a print server.
My problem is as follow:
We are going to receive about 250 Canon C250i printers for our 250 branche offices.
Our users are going to print directly to those printers in the network without a printserver in between.
They use Windows 7 Enterprise on their workstations in a 2012r2 domain and the are no local admins.
I made a policy with the settings to allow point and print and I allowed the Class ID of the printer, WSD Printer and WSD Scanner.

This works fine. When a user installs the printer, they don't get the UAC prompt and are allowed to install the driver for the devices.
Only in this process they do get prompted for a PNPX device mapping. {cee8ccc9-4f8b-4469-a235-5a22869eef03}.
I also added this class ID to the policy of driver classes a user is allowed to install, but without succes.
I think there is happing more than just installing a driver becauso of the "mapping" part.
Has anyone had this problem or knows how to solve this?

Thanks, JFTE

How was it "removed" originally? Have you deleted the programs folder for it? Are there any executables still running?

If you are just seeing it in Add/Remove programs and no place else, that's a registry edit.

You must find the listing for the program under this key (run regedit):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

And right click on it and delete it. It's possible it might be one of the "clsid" keys (numbered entries). If you don't find a program folder name, you must open each clsid and look in the right pane for it. If you are in doubt, don't delete anything, or select File > Export and save the key first as a reg file. You can restore it by doubleclicking

Greetings & Salmenella
The upper memory slot on the motherboard of my Inspiron One 2020 is beeping known stop , two beep intervals. No matter what memory I put in the beeping continues. It only stops if i have one memory stick in the lower slot.
I need help on verifying the correct motherboard to purchase or if there a different Dell mother board that I can upgrade to that will fit in the case housing. I dont mind if I have to make cuts or small holes on the back plate, since I already made holes for a tuner card I bought after I purchased the model that did not have the openings for the TV cable.
I really dont wanna go buy a brand new computer for a bad 4meg memory slot. I have a solid state , the 8 gigs of ram ,and 2 gigs of ramdisk, it runs fast enough that I dont think about buy a new computer. But losing that 4gigs of ram in the bad memory slot. Holy Ding dongs, the hard drive takes for ever to stop making noise, surfing slows down  and compiling and writing visual basic for class takes forever.
Now for the short version.

What is the correct mother board model to replace an Inspiron One 2020 or is there a higher brand model that a mother board will fit my AIO housing and fit  all my computer guts. I have a iCore 5 -2390T cpu.

 Love,

yep

Mainstream (free, Microsoft-provided) support for Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 installed isn't expiring until January 13, 2015. Microsoft will continue to provide security fixes for Windows 7 for free until the end of extended supprt, which is January 14, 2020 -- unless Microsoft ends up extending that support date, as it did with Windows XP.

I guess I will need to try a fresh install. It originally came with 7 and free upgraded to 10. So where do I start, do I need to try and find a copy of 10? Thanks for any advice. Michael

You can download that from Microsoft (see below).  That said, before reloading the OS, run an extended hard drive diagnotic (F12 at powerup) to rule out the possibility that the drive is faulty and the cause of the problem.

At one point I was told MSSE was bare min for security, so I purchased AVG security suit and it was so restrictive I uninstalled it. Now my MSSE no longer works AND Win 7 has passed end of life Jan 2020...
I tried to reinstall it before EOS, but had an error of "I already have anti malware installed, please uninstall", so I uninstalled MSSE from control panel and I seen I have "malwarebytes(free ver)" installed too, so I tried to uninstall
and had error "can't find uninstal000.dat file"... And Yes, I can search for it, it's just gone... I did find uninstal000.exe, but no .dat
So, I checked the security status tab under action center and it shows that MSSE is ON and working correctly and windows defender is OFF and I can't start WD, can't turn OFF MSSE...
I used current ver of malwarebytes to scan the computer and it found nothing wrong, I also use OutByte Pc Repair to scan/fix things and I think it does a great job on my other machines...
So I guess my questions are:
-How do I remove the malwarebytes entry off installed programs list? I want to Delete the program folder, I don't think the software works any longer because it won't start (passed trial date maybe)... But it still shows as being installed...
-I want to uninstall MSSE and reinstall it. How can I do that? I've tried taking a copy off a working machine and running setup.exe but the error of already having anti malware installed hangs it up...
-How do I stop all anti malware ac... Read more

I am trying to help a person that isn't very computer literate. She has the 2020 search toolbar on her machine and her parasite software is detecting it as a trojan but won't clean it. Is there an online scan or tool that will clean this trojan?

A:2020 search toolbar

Download CWShredder:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/CWShredder.exe
Run and hit the ->fix tab to fix all found problems

CWShredder takes advantage of security holes in windows so you should install all critical as well as hotfixes available from windows update.
Then repost a fresh Hijack this log .

Download 'Hijack This!' http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html and save it to a folder on your desktop.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, load it in Notepad, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

I have a Dell Inspiration One 2020 Desktop. It was working fine and the touch screen, keyboard and mouse all stopped working. I put new batteries in my mouse and keyboard both but that didn't help. It's like my screen is frozen. It comes on but I can't get anything to work. I brought another mouse from another computer and it didn't work either.
Do you think I need to buy another mouse & keyboard but why won't the touch screen work either?

I'm very happy with Windows 7 and don't want to DOWNGRADE to Windows 10. My only concern is when support ends in January 2020. Is there any way Windows 7 can continue to be used safely after that date?

A:I want to stick with W7 - 2020 workaround?

In my opinion no body really knows what will happen in or after 2020 with Windows 7.

Hopefully by then Microsoft will have another operating system we want to buy.

Hi Bernie,
Kindly try these steps and advise the result,
*Were any recent changes (software/hardware) made to the system.
*Can you send a screen shot depicting the error.
*Check if the same issue is seen in safemode with networking. If is not seen then its a software issue.
Also do send the service tag of the system via private message so that I can assist you further.

I understood MS would release a final update in June 2020 before going end-of-support in jan 2020.
But, almost August and no update in sight, according to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/advanced-threat-analytics/ata-versions
So, when can we expect this update (if at all)?

Hi,
I have been looking for this answer for 2 days and can not find anyone who has had similair problem.

THere are 2 accounts Administrator and Kenmystro/administrator. I have the password for both and can access both. win 7 Ultimate Hp8510.
I have already selected all user permissions and taken ownership in every box I could find for Kenmystro/admin. the UAC is at minimum and the security centre is off. Run as admin on right click does not help.
It does not matter which of the 2 accounts I log into when I try install certain HP software(Maintenance
& some drivers) it says I do not have admin privileges.

This is driving me nuts can anyone help??

I hope someone can help me.

Just this morning i booted up as normal and the always annoying UAC notifications kept popping up. I was sure i had disabled these! Then i went to use my music software and it said that this account didn't have admin privileges.

I checked my user account and the check box states that is is an admin account and that UAC is turnd off. (i only have one account anyways)

Ive looked on google extensively, Tried making new profiles and copy the old one over, but that only worked to a certain point - lots of programs didn't work, lost mail settings etc. Not really workable.

Tried system restore to no avail.

Tried using the vista admin account and changing my account - rebooting - etc. No change.

My guess is that something has got corrupt in my user profile and windows is not remembering that i should be an admin. I can't use my software and i have a deadline!!

Any one who can help will win a magical prize or something!

Jen

A:Admin account stopped being admin even when admin is checked!

Welcome
Should be easy, create a New Administrator account and give it permissions to use the software.

Hello robertpwns and welcome,

We will begin with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/comb...o-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.
When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system:

C:\ComboFix.txt
New HijackThis log.
