P1 - Thunderbolt Controller Driver not recognize to the station after updating

Q: P1 - Thunderbolt Controller Driver not recognize to the station after updating

Hello, I was trying to update my P1 Thunderbolt driver earlier today, in order to get my eGPU in work. After I restart, the eGPU just not able to connect to my machine. I've properly install the TB software, but when I want to perform a firmware update again, it shows the TB device is not installed. I've tried various BIOS settings for that but non of them works. I've tried several times of reinstall and uninstall the software with different versions, it just dont' work. Then, I opened the Version of the Controller Software, as the pic showed here, it shows unknown. SO does the firmware update detect, It showed as pic 2. I assume it's due to a corrupted drive of the controller, or it's broken. But I cant find any way to recover the controller driver version. Is it only happend on my machine?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I tried to update my USB3 controller to the latest level of driver, using the update from the ASUS site for my motherboard (as recommended by the supplier of my PC). The install was an Intel program, which left me without a driver for my mouse/keyboard, requiring a System Restore...

Is it a good idea to try the "Update Driver..." button in the "Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller" properties (inside Device Manager)?

I've contacted Intel for their suggestions, but no response so far. I suspect I'd have done better when my email address was [email protected] ...

I am struggling with my docking station for my ThinkPad 480s.  I have two docking stations.  One by Lenovo type 40AJ and the other by DELL.  The dual monitor DP setup resets every 3 to 5 minutes causing the monitors to go black with the Lenovo UltraDocking Station.  So I switched out that docking station with the DELL universal docking station.  When I use the USB C/Thunderbolt port the same thing happens.  When I use the USB 3 port, I have no problems.  I have looked in the event viewer and I can see where the laptop switches from external to battery power, but nothing else.  Also, I have updated the drivers for Thunderbolt. Has anyone seen and resolved this issue?

Hello, Notebook is super noisy and dock wire is way too short to put it somewhere far away. I though may be it's possible just pluging power into notebook and connect docking station via Thunderbolt only but not sure if it will work and if docking station in fact needs external power which thunderbold cable will not be able to provide.

I recently received a ZBook 15 G3 with the ZBook dock. After installing Ubuntu 16.04 the dock didn't work at all, it only powered the laptop. I changed the BIOS security configuration for the Thunderbolt port (under Advanced, Ports) and was able to get an external disply working. However, the USB ports on the dock are still not working, the audio jack isn't working and the ethernet port isn't working. When connecting a cable to the ethernet port on the dock the laptop will show that it's connected but there still isn't any internet connection.I will appreciate any help as right now the dock is pretty much unusable.

I have a 5th gen Carbon connected to the Lenovo Thunderbolt docking station. After some time, perhaps a sleep or hibernation, the laptop loses ethernet connectivity and can only use wifi. ipconfig reports media disconnected. But if I do a restart of Windows 10, ethernet is back, no problems. Also if I use the ethernet dongle connected to the laptop's weird little ethernet port, there are no issues.  There are other issues with the dock, like intermittent loss of wireless keyboard and mouse connectivity, but I'll worry about those in another thread.

Hi everybody.I'm trying to find the correct thunderbolt 3 dock station for my new Specter x360 . I noticed that HP has 2 dock stations offered for the Zbook. However, the wire from the dock station to the laptop is a dual USB-C & power jack.  1. If I will buy a standalone thunderbolt cable, will it work with my Specter x360  and the Zbook dock ?2. I noticed there are 2 models of the Zbook dock : 150W and 200W . Which one should I get, if at all? Thanks for your help!

I have several Dell 5510 Precision series with the Thunderbolt USB-C adaptor. Each 5510 is plugged into a Dell K17A docking station powered by a Dell 130W power supply. When I connect the docking station via its USB-C connection to the 5510 laptop, I get a BIOS warning that it only sees 95W of the 130W. But the battery charges and the laptop runs. I can turn off the power warning in the BIOS (which is current) but I worry about powering the 5510's Nvidia video card and other components if the BIOS is not seeing all 130 watts.
Plugging in the 130W psu supplied with the laptop has no such BIOS error.
Why does the Dell docking station K17A not see the Dell power supply? Is it throttling it?

Hopefully someone here can help me before I get an aneurysm. I got the HP Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station (150 watts, model number P5Q54AA). Everything is connected ok but as soon as the dock connects to my laptop it crashes my computer instantly and generates the blue screen of death. It doesn't matter if a monitor is connected or not. There was a couple of scary moments when it sent my fans into overdrive and started beeping loudly as if a bomb was ready to explode. I spent more than eight hours on this yesterday and at this point the dock seems like nothing more than a nice looking brick. I have went through all of the help threads here and tried everything. I updated the bios from 1.14 to 1.15I updated all audio drivers, graphic drivers, firmware drivers, chipset drivers, and thunderbolt related driversI rolled back everything twice and reinstalled everythingI removed the security setting in the bios that relates to thunderbolt devices connectingI've made numerous other changes that didn't work and had to roll backNothing seems to work. I am puzzled as to why HP haven't set this up better. Surely there needs to be a dedicated app for this that handles everything and installs and removes all necessary drivers. By the looks of it this docking station has been a mess from the start. What else can I do at this point?

A:Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station Crashes HP ZBook Studio G3 as...

It is possible you have a defective dock. I have exactly the same setup and went through some difficulties when I first got it but turning off Thunderbolt security made mine work. It is still occasionally finicky coming out of sleep mode or if I disconnect the laptop and use it as a laptop then try to reconnect the dock. Takes a restart or 2 sometimes but mine generally works well.  I would suggest your problems point to a bad piece of hardware.

I have just bought a Dell XPS 15 (9560) and a Dell WD15 docking station with 130W power brick (same wattage as the laptop's AC-adapter). When I only use the docking station to power the laptop the discrete graphics card (GTX 1050) does not seem to work. When I am in a game (eg. Starcraft 2), I get like 15 fps with the NVIDIA recommended settings. Then when I plug in the laptops's own power brick (while still in the game) I get an immediate four-fold increase in framerate. When I unplug the laptop's own power brick the framerate drops down to 15 fps again in a heartbeat. Furthermore, when I only power the laptop through the docking station, I cannot even find the discrete GPU in the list when I'm trying to run the Geekbench 4 compute benchmark (OpenCL). Only the integrated graphics shows up. When I plug in laptop's power brick I find GTX 1050 in the list.
I have run the Dell Command Update application and all my drivers and firmware are up to date.
Does anyone have any idea to what the problem could be?

I'm thinking of getting a P70, I see it has 4 USB 3 ports and 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports.  My questions are: 1: Is each of the USB 3 ports connected to their own controller so that each port is capable of it's maximum bandwidth?  Or are all four ports connected to the same controller so that the data bandwidth is divided among the four ports? 2: Similar Thunderbolt 3 port question.  Is each of the two Thunderbolt 3 ports connected to it's own controller?  Or is the bandwidth shared between the two ports? I'm planning on using the USB 3 ports (maybe Thunderbolt 3 also) with a high end, high data rate USB 3 camera that, according to the specs, can use up 95% of the USB 3 bandwidth.  If I were to use two cameras at the same time, it would not work if all four ports are connected to the same controller/bus and sharing the bandwidth.  I have read that laptops usually share all USB ports on the same controller.  I'm hopeing it will be different with the P70, being a "professional" workstation class product. Thanks

I recently purchased a T480 and ThinkPad Pro Docking Station (40AH).  While the laptop is docked it does not recognize the USB ports that are on the docking station but other ports (Dual DisplayPort and ethernet) work fine.  I am able to plug a device into the always on charging USB port and it will receive power, however, the laptop does not see it.  I have tried updating all drivers on the T480 and Pro Docking support pages including the firmware updates for the dock itself but nothing will get them to be recognized.  Running the USB firmware for the docking station repeatedly says no devices found and goes no further than that. Already have tried replacing the docking station through Lenovo Support and the same issue was seen with the replacement.  Both the laptop and docking station were new out of the box when this started.  Unsure what else to try to get the USB hub inside the dock to be recognized.

Hello all!

I just got a Rosewill HDD docking station R309 to pair with my backup drive, a Western Digital 1T. The drive was working in my desktop as a backup, I gave the PC to my son, and took out the back up, It's got all my music and photos on it plus other stuff.

Windows 10 doesn't recognize the drive. I have everything correctly connected, all lights light up, so all connections are tight. I checked for it in Device Manager, and it shows up there under my laptop's hard drive as working properly. So I went to Disk Management and it shows up as Disk 1 and again as working properly.

A box popped up to say I have to initialize the disk before Windows will deal with it. Then it recommends a GPT.
If I go ahead with this, will it wipe out all my stuff from my hard drive? It'll kill me if I have to lose all my pictures. The rest of the stuff I have backed up on DVDs or CDs. My pictures are only partially backed up as at the time, I was having trouble with my DVD burner. A network transfer didn't work between a PC running Win 8.1 and my laptop running 10. So I gave up for the time being so my son could use the PC.

I'm trying to do this on my own without bothering my boys. If anyone can guide me through this, I'd be so happy and grateful and most truly appreciative! Please bear in mind I am 65 years old, and while certainly not PC illiterate, things like this I am new at. So some patient empathy is always doubly appreciated!

A:Windows 10 doesn't recognize my new HDD docking station

Make sure you are using the Rosewill power adapter when using the Dock, and plug it directly into the wall socket and not a power strip or surge protector as this diminishes the power.
Be sure you are plugging the USB cable into the Back USB port (desktop) not the front or thru a Hub as these ports are weaker. If Disk Management still wants to initialize, then you can try and recover your files by using the Free TestDisk program. I have had the best luck with GetDataBack. you will need another drive of the same size or larger to restore your files to. BTW age is just a thing, I'm 63.

Hi, My X1 Carbon model number is 20KHCTO1WW I have an external monitor connected through HDMI port on the left side. Upon the first power up every morning, their is a very large chance that the external monitor does not light up because their is no thunderbolt 3 controller 15D2 in the list of System Devices. To make it work again, I have to shut down X1, unplug the power cord and press reset on the bottom with a paper clip. Then the thunderbolt 3 controller 15D2 shows up in System Devices and of course, the external monitor lights up. I think I have the current update installed: BIOS: Ver 1.27Graphics driver: V.24.20.100.6168Thunderbolt 3 firmware: V 1.0.10.0-N23TF12WThunderbolt 3 software: V17.3.74.400 thanks.

A:Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 docking station does not charge Thinkpad P51 battery.

Everbody's p51 would be the same.  The thunderbolt port won't work as a charging port.  The thunderbolt specs specify 100w max.  That's not enough.  Your thunderbolt port is not for charging.  To charge via the dock, you need a workstation dock, not a thunderbolt dock.  A thinderbolt dock can charge things like an x1 carbon (5th gen) or x1 yoga (2nd gen)

So a few weeks ago this wasn't a problem. I have a favorite long, 4 ft usb charger that I would use to plug in my xbox one controller to my pc to play some games. Recently, it just stopped working. When I plug my controller into my pc, it shakes for a second, but doesn't light up. I then get a prompt telling me that it can't recognize the usb device. I have tried uninstalling the device via device manager, I've tried downloading new drivers for the xbox one controller online, but nothing seems to do the trick. Just tonight I decided to try my ps4 controller on it, and that didn't seem to work either, but I didn't get the error message that I usually get with the xbox one controller. I've heard that I need a "data sync cable" or something like that, but it was working perfectly fine until a couple weeks ago. I don't want to buy a wired xbox 360 controller either if I don't have to, but that would probably be my next step if I can't find a solution.

Hello guys, I've been having a lot of issues with my AMD drivers, specially when it comes to chipset and video drivers. I recently had to downgrade my video drivers to June 2015 release date, that was the only solution found so I could run games properly (with recent drivers, games that should run with 100fps+ were running with 15fps)..

But that is not the point of this thread, instead, I'm here because after a few weeks running this drivers, I noticed my WiFi was not connecting to my router (wich is working, I can get access with other computers/cel phones). In my drivers list, the Ethernet controller and SM Bus controller are flagged as not installed.
I've tried to find these drivers, but AMD seems to only release packages of drivers. I've come to this download page:
Chipset

where I should be getting the drivers that solve my problem, but the big issue is: apparently, by doing it, i will be reinstalling the latest video drivers (for the APU), and that is ABSOLUTELY NOT what i want.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem? And I mean: where can I get the sm bus and ethernet controller driver w/o having to install a bunch of unnecessary drivers?

My notebook is a MSI 60X 3BE
video card: Radeon HD 8970M
chipset: AMD A10-5750M (with Radeon HD 8650G)
motherboard: MSI MS-16FK

Thanks in advance.

Edit: I've downloaded the drivers in the link, installed and SM Bus is running properly, but Ethernet doesn't. Any further help?

I see updates for the Thunderbolt Controller and driver have been released. I see nothing about any "fixes" in the release notes, only "enhancements". This is a little disconcerting since there have been a number of issues with the Thunderbolt controller. A manufacturer of a new Thunderbolt 3 dock has discovered problems with it. Will this controller or any related BIOS settings be fixed?

I am trying to upgrade my old 60GB SATA drive with a 1.5TB SATA drive. However, the system fails to detect that I have a drive connected. It can still detect the old 60GB drive however. I also tried using my new drive on another PC and it works just fine.

Old SATA controllers have any limit on how big the drive is?? What are my options here, get a PCI-SATA controller card?

Appreciate any suggestions

A:Onboard SATA controller can't recognize new 1.5TB drive

If the new drive is Sata-300, you may need to set a jumper to put it down to Sata-150. Some Sata controllers don't recognize the new drives without the jumper set.

I have a P4 3ghz Abit IC7 Max3 MoBo running on Vista 32 bit home premium. It has 2 SATA channels on the southbridge and 4 SATA channels on a Silicon Image MoBo chip and 2 IDE channels. My C drive and DVD are on the southbridge (SATA 1 & 2). I have a WD 400GB drive on SATA 3 (SiL chip), as well as 2 IDE drives.

I purchased a Samsung 750GB SATA drive. I formatted through a SATA/USB cable and then installed the drive in the SATA 4 connection. When I rebooted, it got to the Silicon Image Bios Screen (hit control-s or f4 to enter) and showed the WD drive (and size) and then the Samsung drive, but it would not show the samsung drive size. All it showed was an blinking underscore where the drive size should appear. If I tried pressing F4 or Control-S, nothing would happen, system appears frozen. I removed just the WD drive and the same thing happened again.

I removed the Samsung drive and installed it through the SATA/USB cable. I deleted the partition, in order to start from scratch. I reinstalled the drive on the SATA 4 channel and the same problem appeared. So, I removed the drive again and installed it through a SATA/USB cable. System booted this time and Vista found the drive.

I reinstalled the drive in the SATA 4 channel and rebooted. I went into the PC Bios and disabled the RAID option for the controller and the PC booted and recognized the Samsung drive.

Everything is running fine now, but RAID is turned off. This is a concern because I have another 750GB Samsung d... Read more

Suggest you go to the Abit site and dowload all the drivers, software, bios updates that you can. The site could go down soon.

I have a 2 port eSATA SIL-3132 RAID controller card that I have been using for a long time on my older Intel motherboard in Windows 7. I moved the card to a new Acer PC with Windows 8 and it will not recognize the card. It does not show at all in device manager. The PCI-E slots are hot swappable and do work normally with other PCI-E cards such as Wi-Fi and modem. Also, the SIL-3132 card works normally in 2 other computers. I installed a different hd into the new Acer PC and loaded Windows 7 for testing to see if the card would work under the os but no luck. The card is not recognized at all. I have checked BIOS settings but couldn't find anything related.

I am at a loss and really need to get this card working with the new Acer PC. Any ideas??

A:Dell XPS 15 9550- Not able to install Thunderbolt driver

The note about a missing resource file makes me wonder if the download might have been corrupted somehow.  Have you tried just redownloading the file from Dell?  And do you already have an older version of the Thunderbolt software installed or is this the first installation attempt on a clean Windows install?

I am having issues with my thunderbolt connecting to an external monitor box (Plugable USB-C) among others and in making sure I have all of the latest drivers I went and installed the latest thunderbolt drivers. The Lenovo link for the Thunderbolt 3 driver for your system - https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-920-13ikb/80y7/dow... But when I installed it they said the "new" driver did not install even after I installed it while it was connected and disconnected. I tried about 6 variations of power off/power on/... So I dug in farther. When the drivers installed I looked at the driver version that is printed out on the screen and it shows that it's different than whats on the package. The attached picture shows the driver that it installed is 17.1.64.2 and the dates are May and June of last year. But the install page says it should should be 17.1.64.250 and the dates should be Jan 2018 or maybe Dec. Could this driver install package be messed up? It would explain why I the new drivers are not being installed.  Anyone have any ideas?Ken
