"CD Recording Software" Program Compatibility Issue After Installation

Q: "CD Recording Software" Program Compatibility Issue After Installation

I have an old disk for Roxio Inc.'s 'CD Recording Software'. It's pretty plain, in a paper case and everything...Anyway, I installed it on my Toshiba Satellite A205-S5831 (although I doubt that will be any use to anyone). My laptop is running Vista. After installing it, I started thinking 'Oh... well, I don't really need this', so I did the senseable thing and uninstalled it. The next reset I got this.In fact, I got this twice in a row. Every restart. Now, I notoriously click 'please do not remove' to any driver or file that may be a shared file, so I figured, hey, these drivers must be running without the program... so I went in and reinstalled the program, restarted, and uninstalling it, clicking 'No to All' for the shared driver thing. The first couple resets I was fine, but here the thing is again! I don't understand why it'd still be doing this.I searched through RegEdit for 'Roxio' and 'CD Recording Software' and got no hits. I checked the MSConfig and can't find anything that would relate to the program. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

We want to start recording a short program that will go out over shortwave radio. We aren't sure what would be the best software to do this. We will need to be able to record and edit 2 different tracks. Then we will put the program onto a cd that will be sent to the station to then be put on the air. We only have the basic sound card that came with our Dell computer and realize we may need to upgrade it. If anyone can offer us advise on this we would really appreciate it.

I recently bought an HP Envy with Windows 8 preloaded on it. W8 is a complete disaster in my mind, but the point is the recording software I use is not compatible with W8. Music is my job, it's how I make a living so this stuff is vital. I need to know either how to downgrade to Windows 7 (I do not have 8 Pro, and I don't believe I have downgrading rights,) how to get a 32bit version of 8, or how to make these programs (Cakewalk, Fruity Loops,) compatible. I've been browsing different forums for a while and most of the answers I see in response to questions about compatibility are something like "Just get ViStart/StartW8/etc. etc." but that's really not the point. I have a Start Menu emulator and I know how to use W8, that is not the problem. I would like W7 back until either Windows gets their junk in order or the programs I use become compatible. Problem is I have no time to sit around and wait for one or both of those scenarios, so I'm asking for some help. Thanks in advance!

A:Music Recording Software & Windows 8 Issue

That's odd. Since Cakewalk themselves claim that Windows 8 performs significantly better (multi-digit cpu performance increases) than Windows 7, and that Sonar works perfectly unchanged.

The Cakewalk Blog ? Blog Archive ? Windows 8 ? A benchmark for music production applications

Even more curious is that Cakewalk has a native Windows 8 version:

The Cakewalk Blog ? Blog Archive ? A Deeper Look at SONAR X2a – Native Windows 8 and Touch Support
And FL Studio claims Windows 8 compatibility

Strange we keep getting these new posters claiming all this terrible compatibility problems with Windows 8 that just don't seem to be supported by either the vendors themselves, or actual facts.

There is a calculator program that I've used forever up to XP-SP3. It's a small fast program that does not install; simply click and run each time. When I run it under Win7/64, I get the error dialogue box: "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 or x64 version of the program..."

I've set the "compatibility for all users:" to:
Windows 95
and checked all five boxes starting with "Run in 256 colors", etc.

Nothing helps. Short of running the compatibility emulator, which is slow and sort of defeats the purpose of this quick little program, is there anything else I can try to get this to run?

A:Program Compatibility Issue, cannot run

Hi bbear2 and welcome to Seven Forums.

I suspect that your calcuator program is a 16bit program. That will not run on 64bit Windows 7.

Having procured an on-line download of Windows 8, from the Microsoft web site, I am a little concerned about an incompatibility identified by the Microsoft Upgrade Assistant; namely:-

"Bluetooth Win7 Suite (64) - Atheros Communications"

This incompatibility was identified after restoration of a copy of the Windows 7 operating system, as installed by the manufacturer of my PC! (Recovered from an Acronis image).

That is, the operating system, prior to installation of any personal software, or external hardware, or divers!

Hence, I can only assume, that "Bluetooth Win7 Suite (64)" is a sub component of one of the original components of the computer:

ASUS P8Z68-V LE Motherboard
NVIDIA Quadro 600 1024MB Professional Video Card
Intel i7 2600K Processor (3.4 GHz - no over-clocking)
16GB Corsair PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3 Memory (4x4 GB sticks)
Qty 2 Sony 24x DVD-RW drives
Qty 2 120GB Corsair Force 3 SSD (No Raid)
Qty 1 1000GB 7200 HDD
Onboard High Definition Audio

My plan was to perform a clean installation of Windows 8, but I have no understanding what the implications of this incompatibility will be!

Namely, what the function of Bluetooth Win7 Suite (64), is! And what hardware it is associated with!

Whether a clean installation will work, without Bluetooth Win7 Suite (64)

Whether Windows 8 install will have onboard drivers, for all of the above hardware!

After installation of Windows 8, and installation of the manufactures latest driver... Read more

You can always install Windows 8 to VHD - you will need say 20-30 GB on any internal disk (no separate partition).

Once booted to Windows 8 you will see if all drivers for your hardware were found and installed.
If some driver is missing - go to manifacturer site and look for an updated version of the driver.

VHD installation has only one difference to native installation - disk is virtual.

Once you are happy (found all needed drivers) you can either transfer VHD installation to native disk partition or make a completely new native installation of Windows 8 to disk. I would install Windows 8 to one of the SSD's.

I own a hp deskjet f4288 all in one printer. The software for this is not compatible with the version of windows I use.
I've a windows 7 34 bit premium os.I do not want to download a pirated version so please suggest how to get the appropriate software and use my printer again.

A:Solved: printer software compatibility issue

Here is the support site for the HP Deskjet F4288 All-In-One printer.

It has a full-feature software driver package for Windows 7(32-bit) and Windows 7(64-bit). All you need to do is download and save the file, close all open windows, turn on the printer, double-click the saved file to start the install process, connect the USB cable from the printer to the computer when prompted to, then follow the instructions from there.

If you still have a software driver package installed from an older Windows version, you need to uninstall it and then restart your computer first.

The installation wizard seemed to work just fine, but then when I clicked on the icon, it wanted to go through the installation process all over again. I tried downloading it with no firewall and installing it with my antivirus program turned off, but had the same results. I clicked "install as administrator" and tried again, but same results. I went ahead and purchased the installation CD and when I downloaded it to my computer and installed it, the same thing happened. I have a Gateway DX442B with Windows 7 Home Premium, An AMD Phenom IIX4 B60 processor, 4GB DDR3 RAM, and NVDIA GeForce 8600 GT video card. They should assist you in your endeavor to load their software onto your computer. They have been having some problems with AVG as of late, it could be one of those that is hindering you from loading the software, or it could be as simple as a corrupt download.

Notably this came up when I tried to install LanSurveyor so I could pipe out a map in Visio. I have never ever had this screen come up, in among thousands of prgrams and installs. Yes I have been into lpsc and check my permissions, yes I know what a 'true' administrator is and yes I have logged in as that, same frigging error. This is recent folks so I am wondering if micrsnot dropped an update that went bad (again as usual)?

I am trying to install Windows 7 on my laptop. When I click on "upgrade" it takes me to a compatibility report that says "the computer started using the windows installation disc. Remove the installation disc and restart your computer so that windows starts normally." When I remove the disc and try to restart the computer, it takes me to a black screen with a bunch of computer gibberish on it and says "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key". In other words, I am getting a message from windows 7 telling me to reboot my computer without the windows 7 disc, but the computer WILL NOT reboot without the disc. When I click on "custom (advanced)" instead of "upgrade", it takes me to a page that says "where do you want to install windows?" with a blank box and a message at the bottom that says "no drives were found. Click Load Driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation"
I have tried everything in my capacity as someone who sucks with computers and need help from someone who doesn't. Thanks for the help.

In the days of Windows 3.1, I had a program called InControl. Before installing a program, I would start InControl and it would then monitor and record every change to the system made by the installation, every line added to WINDOWS.INI, SYSTEM.INI, every file added or modified and even recorded changes in file time stamps and versions for DLLs etc.

Is there anything that thorough for Windows 2000/XP. I want to be able to examine such a record that would not only record file version changes and files added or modified but also every line added, deleted or changed in the Windows Registry.

Is there such a utility that really gets it all, down to the last detail?

Just use Sound Recorder to record the mic noise and the speaker output (the guy talking to you). Save the wave and convert to an mp3 (a program such as Audiograbber can do this for you).

What bug are you getting in Camstudio? I had it work fine, aside from an unrelated Mic volume problem (which I have posted in the Audio forum to hopefully find a fix for).

The editing, title creation, and audio recording portions all worked fine. Maybe the newer version fixed it, though.
